According to Stratfor, Israeli news quoted Palestinian TV saying that Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Zahar is calling on militants to attack Israeli businesses and civilians and institutions. This is a puzzling report. In what way is this call any different from the usual call to destroy anything Israeli? Could this mean extra nationally? Jews and anything percieved to be connected to Jews world wide? Surely this call would not have been made unless it was somehow different than actual Hamas policy.
From Jihad Watch,
As fighting intensified on the northern outskirts of Gaza City today, a top Hamas leader broke cover to warn Israel that the Islamists would kill Jewish children anywhere in the world in revenge for their own young who have died in the devastating assault.“They have legitimised the murder of their own children by killing the children of Palestine,” said Mahmoud Zahar, in a televised broadcast recorded at a secret location. “They have legitimised the killing of their people all over the world by killing our people.”
Mr Zahar, a hard-line political leader, made his first appearance since Israeli launched its offensive against his organisation. Dressed in a dark suit and as he read the statement, he declared “Victory is coming, God willing.”
I gotta tell ya, I would be hard pressed to know the difference between this policy and business as usual for Islamic terrorists. It seems to me they do as much as they can pretty much all the time.
