Rogue communication devices found in Chinese solar power inverters
LONDON, May 14 (Reuters) – U.S. energy officials are reassessing the risk posed by Chinese-made devices that play a critical role in renewable energy infrastructure after unexplained communication equipment was found inside some of them, two people familiar with the matter said.
Power inverters, which are predominantly produced in China, are used throughout the world to connect solar panels and wind turbines to electricity grids. They are also found in batteries, heat pumps and electric vehicle chargers.
While inverters are built to allow remote access for updates and maintenance, the utility companies that use them typically install firewalls to prevent direct communication back to China.
However, rogue communication devices not listed in product documents have been found in some Chinese solar power inverters by U.S experts who strip down equipment hooked up to grids to check for security issues, the two people said.
Over the past nine months, undocumented communication devices, including cellular radios, have also been found in some batteries from multiple Chinese suppliers, one of them said.
Reuters was unable to determine how many solar power inverters and batteries they have looked at.

Elections Canada says Terrebonne, Que., result is final despite mailing error
Elections Canada says the result of a recount in the federal riding of Terrebonne is final, despite a misprint that led to one special ballot being returned to sender.
Elections Canada says there was an error on the envelope used to mail a special ballot from Terrebonne, a Quebec riding the Liberals won by a single vote after a recount.
Preliminary results indicated that the Liberals had won the riding, but the seat flipped temporarily to the Bloc Québécois after the results were validated.
After a recount that gave the seat back to the Liberals, however, CBC News reported that a Bloc voter saw her mail-in ballot returned to her.
The agency says an analysis confirmed that part of the return address on the envelope destined for a local Elections Canada office — the last three characters of the postal code — was incorrect.
Despite the error and questions about the possibility of another recount or a byelection, Elections Canada spokesperson Matthew McKenna said “the result of the recount is final.”
Of course this story is from The Lennie Riefenstahl Award winning outlet, The CBC. So figuring out what’s true, or the actual purpose of any narrative out of that outfit is getting more and more difficult to determine. Still, it goes to Canada’s system of plausible deniability when it comes to accepting who they say governs us.

People who took mRNA Covid vaccines were 30 percent likely to develop thyroid disease a year later as those who did not, a study of over 2.3 million patients shows.
The problem worsened over time, with the gap between the jabbed and unjabbed widening steadily, researchers reported. Thyroid disease is common, and the researchers found over 4,000 additional cases in the vaccinated group, suggesting millions of people globally may have developed thyroid problems from mRNA shots.

Why? Bulgarian deaths have plunged since Covid ended, thanks to the “pull-forward effect.” Elsewhere, they’re still high, and no one knows why. Did I mention Bulgaria mostly rejected Covid vaccines?
“The pull-forward effect.”
You might remember hearing that phrase early in Covid. It was a polite way to say that because Sars-Cov-2 mostly killed people who didn’t have long to live, any temporary rise in deaths during the epidemic would likely be followed by a temporary decline in deaths once it ended. Everyone only dies once, after all.
This theory was conventional wisdom in March 2020, when British epidemiologist Neil Ferguson said most people who died from Covid would have died within nine months anyway. (He did so while arguing FOR lockdowns, but that’s another story.)
Except, five years after Covid began, we’re still waiting for the pull-forward effect to kick in. Across the wealthy world, Covid has largely vanished, but deaths remain high.
