1. January 11th: U.S. and Britain launch strikes against Houthi rebel targets in Yemen

The United States and Britain launched military strikes against the Houthi rebels in Yemen on Thursday, after weeks of mounting attacks by the Iran-backed militant group in the Red Sea.

The strikes, carried out from land and sea, threatened an expansion of the conflict in the Middle East beyond Israel’s war in Gaza — an escalation the Biden administration and its allies have been working to avoid.

The Houthis, who say their actions are aimed at supporting Hamas, vowed retaliation for attacks they said had killed at least 5 fighters at multiple sites held by the rebels.

(Video at link) The Houthis are of course using Islamic excuse #1b: The fight started when he hit me back. The Houthis have been attacking global food and energy security by launching attacks against int’l shipping, That is a geopolitical fact and motive. The Houthi motto though, makes their real motives very clear. People who do not understand this, are the same people that climbed aboard the trains to Auschwitz thinking it was a resort.

2. Scottish parents who refuse to allow their children to change their gender could be JAILED under radical new SNP plans to ban conversion therapy

Scottish parents who refuse to allow their children to change their gender could be jailed under controversial plans to ban conversion therapy in Scotland. 

The SNP government wants to introduce new laws which would make it illegal try and force an individual to suppress or change their sexual orientation and gender identity through any ‘conversion practices’. 

But critics claim the move could result in parents being imprisoned for up to seven years for refusing to let their child change gender. 

The Catholic church argued the plans could have ‘a chilling effect’ on free speech and highlighted that the ‘worrying lack of clarity’ about the term ‘conversion practices’ could ‘criminalise’ advice given to children ‘in good faith’. 

Marion Calder, director of campaign group For Women Scotland, said: ‘We have grave concerns that these plans will criminalise loving parents, who could face years in jail simply for refusing to sign up to the gender ideology cult.’

Canada’s C-6 actually does criminalize parents who suggest their child wait a few years before surgically mutilating and sterilizing themselves. They also call it “the anti-conversion-therapy bill.” This of course is a term of deception. It is not conversion therapy to tell your 8 year old to wait till they are 18 before having their testicles chopped off.

3. New York Times Turns Students Who Harassed Jews into Victims

(Victim blaming is one of the most interesting and persistent dialectical cons of the left)

In October, after anti-Israel protesters menaced visibly Jewish students at The Cooper Union college library, The New York Times was among the many news outlets to cover the incident. Two months later, on Dec. 18, the newspaper again reported on the disturbance — this time, to recast the agitators who caused Jews to fear for their safety as the situation’s real victims.

What stands out from the incident, the Times tells readers, isn’t the harassment of students, or the disruption of studies — and certainly not the radicalization that has led so many students to align with campus groups that celebrated the Oct. 7 massacre and march against the target of the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust.

Rather, insists reporter Sharon Otterman, “the episode at the library and its aftermath show how a brief moment, free of context or nuance, can be repurposed by partisans in service of broader political rhetoric during a war in which information is an important weapon.”

When a Cooper Union student is quoted lamenting that frightened students were forced “into this awful position,” it wasn’t about the besieged Jews. It was about the protest leaders.

4. Ahmed May, 30 who stabbed three people at Quebec Restaurant and who’s facebook profile has him doing the Islamic State sign, investigated for terrorism.

[…]The Saguenay police received several calls from witnesses of the attack at about 2:20 p.m. on Dec. 20. Two minutes later, a photo of a man pointing his index finger upward was published on the Facebook profile of someone named Ahmed May, who is identified on the profile as an employee of the restaurant La Belle et La Buf.

The photo appears to be taken behind the bar of the restaurant; the words “Free Palestine” accompany the photo.

The day before the triple stabbing, posts repeatedly praising Hamas were published on the profile. Hamas, which carried out an attack against Israel on Oct. 7 during which it killed some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and took about 250 hostages, is listed by Canada as a “terrorist entity.”

(No word on the owners or clients or who was stabbed of course. Its the Hammer and Sickle Globe and Mail so…

5. COVID ‘6-feet’ social distancing ‘sort of just appeared,’ likely lacked scientific basis, Fauci admits

Dr. Anthony Fauci confessed to lawmakers Tuesday that guidelines to keep six feet of separation — ostensibly to limit the spread of COVID-19 — “sort of just appeared” without scientific input.

Fauci, 83, revealed to the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic that the “six feet apart” recommendation championed by him and other US public health officials was “likely not based on scientific data,” according to Chairman Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio), who is also a physician.

Schools nationwide remained closed well into the second year of the pandemic as a result of the social distancing guidelines, which were disputed by both research studies and other health officials.

RFK Jr’s book, The Real Anthony Fauci has a page where he explains, quoting someone who made a much longer study of Fauci, that he was ideologically driven. The amount of power the state took from people by implementing this scientism is incalculable.

Remembering back to the long, stupid and contentious lines at grocery stores, where everyone had to be 6 feet apart and wear a mask and wait to be ‘allowed’ into the store after putting poison on your hands is enraging. Most people seemed OK with it. But if you weren’t you had to be very careful about how you expressed your dissatisfaction if you wanted your chance to buy food. Stores often had guards who would threaten to not let you in or call police if you expressed any discontent with standing in the freezing cold with a mask on 6′ feet apart standing on those stupid dots waiting for someone else to leave the store before the next guy could go in. The amount of power the state seized over this is staggering.

Here is a fun one. In the tradition of the Soviet Union, a police officer in Canada warns people not to publish photos of people stealing their packages since somehow, it violates presumption of innocence. Not sure how, as if you do not say, this is the guy who stole my package, then it doesn’t. And you can publish any other photo of anyone else for any reason on your own, or public property. But if they are clearly stealing from you, you cant?

In the Gulag Archipelago there is a lot of attention paid to how the state treated thieves much better than they treated the middle class, or any other counter-revolutionary they arrested for the gulags. We definitely see the same for gun crimes. I have read where gangs in Canada were given illegal guns back after arrest and release. A scary comparison to middle class gun owners in Canada with a minor bureaucratic breach of a gun law.
