So much to absorb…
I read in the comments that someone encountered Jordan Peterson and asked him about the Whitaker Chambers case and Jordan had no clue about it, we’ve all got so much to learn
Peterson not knowing about Whittaker Chambers is shocking frankly. I wonder if he also ‘doesn’t know’ about the other witness at Alger Hiss’ trial, Bella Dodd who destroyed the Catholic church by getting thousands of pedophiles and homosexuals to join as clergy.
JOHNNY U wrote a comment but he is up against the firewall so I am posting it for him.

Thanks for this Diana West. Enlightening.
She says it was exhilerating to pull back the layers of the onion of her research into communism in America. I bet it was, and is exciting to look back with sharp eyes to see that things were not the way we were told they were. Knowing where all communist agents and collaborators (what’s the difference ideologically?) were hiding during that era turns time into a corn field that people sit in the middle of. Extricating oneself from the corn field requires enough time to have passed to constitute a history that a Diana West can root through.
Trying to understand the present I find less exhilerating because here I am sitting in my own corn field of what seem to be existential threats. Diana’s study of history helps me with some context of the field I am in, but how much does it help me find my way out of it now? Does anyone have the map? Do we always suspect that the bad guys have all the answers? Do George Soros or Bill Gates know what comes next, and are they responsable for what came along in the last four years? After all, we know Gates publically telegraphed the pandemic, and we know Soros has had his hands deep in Ukraine’s fertile soil for many years, but it is all too easy and lazy to hang all that ails on these guys. Yet, I’ll be a monkey’s uncle if Soros was not in the Ukraine positioning himself strategically for a future that he, himself, was constructing in the name of his own reflexivity. Come to think of it, what an epiphany it must be to discover that the trick to finding your way out of a corn field is to become the farmer of next year’s crop.
But alas, I am not a farmer of futures a la Soros, and so I remain lost in my weeds. Or am I lost in his? Worse, to become such a farmer you have to have more money than God, and you must waddle and quack like a psychopath. What a rarified occupation that is. I guess somebody has to do it.
Now we train our minds to see active measures and lines of effort:
Aktivnye meropriyatiya, “active measures,” was a term used by the Soviet Union (USSR) from the 1950s onward to describe a gamut of covert and deniable political influence and subversion operations, including (but not limited to) the establishment of front organizations, the backing of friendly political movements, the …
And:
“…“a line that links multiple tasks and mission. using the logic of purpose-cause and effect-to focus efforts toward establishing operational and strategic. conditions.”
We have learned that these are the weapons being deployed against us on a Godzilla-like scale. We also learned that the Left doesn’t have a monopoly on cancel culture. We cancel opinion leaders such as Jordan Peterson who tells us to take the damned vaxx, or RFK Jr. who wrote the book on Fauci yet made guests to his place vaxx up, or something, or Trump who still has not admitted to his big vaxx mistakes. So what gives? Can any heroes survive now? We invest such emotional and intellectual capital in heroes only to discover they are fatally flawed. Then we wonder why we feel paralysed and tired out by the whole looping excersize. We are clearly wired to want and need heroes. Maybe this is our own fatal fathered flaw. Even the most hard-boiled cynics–those who tell you nobody really gives a damn about you and are generally right to say it–believe in someone once you get past their armour.
We have had to learn so much just to feel like we are not falling too far behind. So clear and present dangers are one thing, but murky and present dangers unsettle us with higher anxiety. Desmet comes along like Johnny-on-the-spot to explain how this free-floating anxiety was purpose built for the purpose of making us want the C-19 injections. He explains how similar industrial brainwashing was used in WW2 to dehumanize gypsies, Jews and homosexuals in the eyes of the majority. These minorities were stigmatized as a “dirty” existential threat. No place on Earth was this mechanism replicated more closely and modernly under the pandemic than in Canada, where Trudeau tried his blunt best to characterize the unvaccinated in equal terms.
About 20% of that population suspected there was a tiger hiding in the tall grass. I know injection refusniks have grown in number since then. I also know that free-floating anxiety lingers like an odorless gas. I know this because answer addicts abound in a corn field of questions. Lost, they walk on searching for a way out.
To his credit I remember Peterson saying man invented religion to cope with a chaotic universe. We need order, and will find it even if we must invent it ourselves. Any one of our current heroes can turn out to be a pied piper to oblivion. Knowing this won’t stop us from looking for them. In fact, we know even the second coming of Jesus Christ, himself, would be cancelled in the information mud field we are in today if it did not serve the neo-fascists.
In fact I am positive Jesus walks among us now. Maybe he runs a blog that no one watches. He’s trying to get the word out.
This would make a good fiction novel. The book starts out intriguingly enough, but then we find each chapter numbered “One”, because the story is forever restarting in its failing attempt to stay ahead of the non-fiction reality it is trying to reflect. The writer of the novel despairs because, despite his efforts, he cannot write the story with reality shifting faster than he can describe it.
He tries to adapt by changing styles. He becomes an esthete. He plays the rhythm of the syllables into ridiculous, contorted, twisted poetic prose that not even his few remaining friends can make sense of. Like the doomed, defective hero of the very book he cannot write he spirals down. He is lost in an epoch where every thing and every person seems to be just another actor in a still-bigger lie. There are no big answers that rescue him. There are no more heroes.
Finally, just when the novel is so confusing and depressing and heavy that you think you just can’t read another word of this story inside a story, you discover it’s a mad, mad, mad, mad world and the whole thing ends because the society they atomized naturally reverted to an age of wholesomeness that people needed and wanted, instead of the stupid, sick, ridiculous thing they tried to engineer for everyone but themselves. When it all fell apart people’s jaws dropped at how facile the whole thing was, and the world vowed never to fall for anything like it ever again. The end.
A friend has quite rightly pointed out my incorrect use of the term “cancel culture.” Cancel culture is vastly more serious disagreement. Thanks for pointing this out.
