All things Russia Vs. Ukraine for March 11, 2022

1. Russia Convenes UN Security Council Meeting to Present BioLab Evidence — Friday at 11 AM

Friday is going to be a very bad day for the United States. Sixty years ago (yes, I was alive then) the United States roasted the Soviet Union in a UN Security Council meeting convened over the Cuban Missile Crisis. There is an old saying, “revenge is a dish best served cold.” Russia is going to dump a load of frozen food on the United States tomorrow at 11 am by exposing U.S. support to Ukraine over the last 17 years for research into biological and chemical weapons.

Zero Hedge also has this story.

2. German Anaesthesiologists: “We will not treat Russian and Belarusian citizens. Our solidarity is with the Ukrainian people!”

More craziness from Munich doctors, who appear to have hatched a private sanctions plan of their own, premised on owning Putin by unilaterally refusing to treat Russians.

Remember Ortrud Steinlein, director of the Ludwig Maximilians-Universität Clinic for Human Genetics? She’s the one who declared that, “due to the serious violation of international law by the autocrat Putin, who is obviously mentally disturbed,” she would be “refusing to treat Russian patients.”

Well, that wasn’t an isolated case. It now looks like various Munich physicians got together and worked out this informal sanctions regime among themselves. A few days ago a similar announcement from a private Munich clinic came to light, dating from around the same time and bearing exactly the same message (only in more inflammatory terms):

3. YouTube blocks Russian state-funded media channels globally

OAKLAND, Calif., March 11 (Reuters) – YouTube is immediately blocking access around the world to channels associated with Russian state-funded media, it said on Friday, citing a policy barring content that denies, minimizes or trivializes well-documented violent events.

The world’s most used streaming video service, which is owned by Alphabet Inc’s (GOOGL.O) Google, said Russia’s invasion of Ukraine now fell under its violent events policy and violating material would be removed.

YouTube spokesman Farshad Shadloo said the blocking of the Russian outlets was in line with that policy.

4. Vlog by The Duran on the conflict. It’s 2 hours long, but came recommended, and the first few minutes look promising so far.

They are correct that there was indeed false flags in Syria about use of Chem-weapons. This site posted video of the nacent Islamic State by other names showing how they killed rabbits with chemical weapons and how they improvised guns that could launch those weapons. Next thing you know, chem-weapons attacks happened in Syria and the Western media blamed Assad. So, points to them for making that observation out of the gate.

This appears to be what a false flag looks like in stage 1:

  1. the gateway pundit – Breaking: Russia Releases Alleged Captured Documents Before UN Special Council Meeting Exposing Evidence of US Military Biolabs in Ukraine

    […]According to Russian officials:

The Russian Defence Ministry continues to study materials on the implementation of military biological programs of the United States and its NATO allies on the territory of Ukraine.

Original documents and translations ==> https://disk.yandex.ru/d/62hsNB8kC7MXPQ

Russian officials released a preliminary report before the hearing today.

The information received from various sources confirms the leading role of the US Defence Threat Reduction Agency in financing and conducting military biological research on the territory of Ukraine.

Details of the UP-4 project became known, which was implemented with the participation of laboratories in Kiev, Kharkov and Odessa and was designed for the period up to 2020.

Its purpose was to study the possibility of the spread of particularly dangerous infections through migrating birds, including highly pathogenic H5N1 influenza, the mortality rate of which reaches 50 percent for humans, as well as Newcastle disease.

Due to the fact that Ukraine has a unique geographical location where transcontinental migration routes intersect, 145 biological species were studied within the framework of this project. At the same time, at least two species of migratory birds were identified, whose routes pass mainly through the territory of Russia. At the same time, information about migration routes passing through the countries of Eastern Europe was summarized.

Of all the methods developed in the United States to destabilize the epidemiological situation, this is one of the most reckless and irresponsible, since it does not allow to control the further development of the situation. This is confirmed by the course of the pandemic of a new coronavirus infection, the occurrence and features of which raise many questions.

In addition, the R-781 project is interesting, where bats are considered as carriers of potential biological weapons agents.

Among the priorities identified are the study of bacterial and viral pathogens that can be transmitted from bats to humans: pathogens of plague, leptospirosis, brucellosis, as well as coronaviruses and filoviruses.

It is noteworthy that the research is carried out in close proximity to the borders of Russia – in the areas of the Black Sea coast and the Caucasus.

The project is being implemented with the involvement of not only Ukrainian, but also Georgian biological laboratories controlled by the Pentagon in cooperation with the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and the US Geological Survey.

The analyzed materials on the UP-8 project, aimed at studying the Congo-Crimean hemorrhagic fever virus and hantaviruses in Ukraine, clearly refute the US public statement that only Ukrainian scientists work in the Pentagon biolabs in Ukraine without the intervention of American biologists. One of the documents confirms that all serious high-risk studies are conducted under the direct supervision of specialists from the United States.

The payroll of Ukrainian contractors clearly demonstrates how they are financed. It has been confirmed that the US Department of Defence paid the money for research participation directly, without the involvement of intermediaries. The extremely modest pay, by US standards, is noteworthy. This indicates a low estimation of the professionalism of Ukrainian specialists and the neglect of their American colleagues.

In addition, the studied materials contain proposals for the expansion of the US military-biological program in Ukraine. Thus, there was evidence of the continuation of completed biological projects UP-2, UP-9, UP-10, aimed at studying the pathogens of anthrax and African swine fever.

The Pentagon is also interested in insect vectors capable of spreading dangerous infectious diseases. The analysis of the obtained materials confirms the transfer of more than 140 containers with ectoparasites of bats – fleas and ticks from the biolab in Kharkov abroad.

Significantly, similar research was carried out in the 1940s on the development of biological weapons components by the Japanese unit 731, whose members later fled to the US to escape prosecution for war crimes.

I would like to remind you that representatives of Western countries are extremely cautious about handing over their biomaterials.

At the same time, available documents confirm numerous cases of transferring biological samples of Ukrainian citizens abroad. For example, 350 cryocontainers with blood serum samples were transferred from the Public Health Centre of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine to the reference laboratory for infectious diseases of the Australian Doherty Institute under the pretext of determining antibody titers.

Another example is the German-funded project No. 68727 EN on the study of Congo-Crimean haemorrhagic fever pathogens and hantaviruses. As part of this project, one thousand blood serum samples of citizens from different regions of Ukraine belonging exclusively to the Slavic ethnic group were donated to the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (Hamburg).

It is highly likely that one of the objectives of the US and its allies is to create bioagents capable of selectively targeting different ethnic populations.

During a hearing of the US Senate Foreign Affairs Committee on 8 March, Undersecretary of State Victoria Nuland reported on the presence of bioweapons in Ukraine where biosecurity research had been conducted. She expressed concern about the possibility of these bio-laboratories and the materials there being taken over by the Russian Armed Forces.

According to available information, the Americans have already managed to evacuate most of the documentation, including databases, biomaterials and equipment from laboratories in Kiev, Kharkov and Odessa to the Lvov Research Institute of Epidemiology and Hygiene and the US Consulate in Lvov. The possibility of transferring part of the collection to Poland has not been excluded.
In fact, with her statement, Nuland indirectly confirmed the Pentagon’s military-biological program in Ukraine in circumvention of existing international agreements.

  3. 450 Arab and foreign extremists from Idlib arrive in Ukraine

Almost 450 extremists from various nationalities arrive to Idlib to fight against Russian troops, after leaving Syria and passing through Turkey.

Close to 450 extremist Arab and foreign nationals have arrived in Ukraine from Idlib to fight against Russia’s forces, less than only three days after they left Syria, passing through Turkey.

Relatives of extremists that have arrived in Ukraine told Sputnik that senior fighters from terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (the rebranded version of Jabhat Al-Nusra, i.e Al-Qaeda) have held a number of meetings with senior leaders in the Turkistan Islamic Party group and Ansar Al-Tawhid and Hurras al-Din groups, and agreed on allowing a number of all their fighters to enter Ukraine through Turkish soil.

The sources added that most of these foreign fighters are veterans of the Syrian war, had been causing issues in Idlib, and were given this opportunity to fight against Russia as a compromise by which they would receive a new start and with an acceptable income.

Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham also gave these fighters assurances that their families would be allowed to join them later.

Around 300 of these fighters are Syrian nationals that are originally from the Idlib and Aleppo countrysides, while the 150 others are Belgian, French, Chinese, Moroccan, Tunisian, Chechen and British nationals.

As for the financial compensation, the sources said the fighters that hail from Syria will receive around $1200-$1500, but had no knowledge what the foreign nationals were going to be paid.

Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has previously stated that 16,000 foreign mercenaries will fight for the country.

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin had warned Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a meeting last Friday of the growing number of foreign mercenaries operating in Ukraine, including those coming from Albania and Croatia and namely militants and Jihadists coming from Kosovo in order to put their experience from military operations in Syria to use.

  10. MEMRI – Lavrov on Al-Jazeera: The West Is Responsible for the Ukraine Crisis

In a March 2, 2022 interview on Al-Jazeera Network (Qatar), Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the West is responsible for the Ukraine crisis since NATO had expanded eastward since the dissolution of the USSR.

He said: “The whole situation was caused by the West’s refusal to acknowledge Russia’s equal rights in defining the security of Europe.” Lavrov said that the West is using and arming Ukraine in order to establish a “hostile belt” in Russian environs.

In addition, he said that the U.S. and Britain have built military bases in Ukraine, and that the Pentagon built military biological laboratories in Ukraine as a part of a “secret American program” to build laboratories in former Soviet republics for experimenting “on various bacteria.”

Moreover, Lavrov said that the Russian military’s goal is to demilitarize Ukraine, and not to overthrow its regime, adding that “the Ukrainians themselves should make the decision once this conflict is over.”

When asked if the world is on the verge of a third world war, Lavrov answered that this question should be directed at U.S. President Joe Biden, who he said has stated that a world war is the only alternative to sanctions on Russia.

He added that Russia’s “Western partners” do not rule out the possibility of a third world war, which they surely must know “can only be nuclear.”

  11. MEMRI – Russian Economist: America Besieged Russia by Placing Bio-Labs in Surrounding Countries

Russian economist Valentin Katasonov said in a February 28, 2022 interview on Russia Today TV that the primary objective of the Russian military operation in Ukraine was to eliminate American biological laboratories that he claimed America had placed in Ukraine.

He elaborated that America has placed 200 of these laboratories in many countries around the world, with a large part of them in former Soviet republics, and with 15 of them in Ukraine.

Katasonov said that this constitutes a “siege” on Russia, that these labs constitute weapons that must be dismantled by experts and cannot be bombed, and that World War III has been “going on for a long

    time.”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kserx9kWRLQ

  12. the gateway pundit – BREAKING VIDEO: U.S UN Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield Denies Russian Allegations of Bio Labs in Ukraine

US Representative to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield denied allegations on Friday regarding the alleged US-funded biological laboratories in Ukraine.

Linda Thomas-Greenfield made a statement during the Security Council Meeting on Russia’s allegations of military biological activities in Ukraine.

Greenfield accused Russia of “lying and spreading misinformation” and claimed that the UN was not aware of any biological or chemical programs in Ukraine.

“Russia asked the Security Council for today’s meeting for the sole person of lying and spreading disinformation, and that is exactly what you have heard from the Russian PR this morning,” she said. “You have heard from Ms. Nakamitsu that the UN is not aware of any biological or chemical weapons programs in Ukraine,” she added.

She also mentioned how Secretary of State Antony Blinken “laid out with tragic accuracy” Russia’s plans for invading Ukraine on false pretexts.

“Last month, Secretary Blinkin laid out with tragic accuracy what Russia was about to do. He specifically warned that Russia would manufacture a pretext for attack and even cautioned that Russia would fabricate allegations about chemical or biological weapons to justify its own violent attacks against the Ukrainian people. Today, the world is watching Russia do exactly what we warned it would,” she said.

Greenfield went on and criticized Russia for attempting to ‘justify Putin’s war choice’ and China for spreading disinformation in support of Russia.

“Russia is attempting to use the Security Council to legitimize disinformation and deceive people, to justify President Putin’s war of choice against the Ukrainian people. And China, too, has been spreading disinformation in support of Russia’s outrageous claims,” Greenfield claimed.

Greenfield declared that Ukraine does not have biological weapons near Russia’s border or anywhere. This is contrary to China’s allegations that the United States has 336 biological labs in 30 countries around the world and there are 26 US biological labs in Ukraine alone.

“I will say this once. Ukraine does not have a biological weapons program, there are no Ukrainian biological weapons laboratories supported by the United States, not near Russia’s border or anywhere. So here are the facts,” Greenfield affirmed.

She then admitted that Ukraine operates its own public health laboratory that the US was working “proudly, clearly, and out in the open.”

“Ukraine owns and operates its own public health laboratory infrastructure. These facilities make it possible to detect and diagnose diseases like Covid-19, which benefit us all. The United States has assisted Ukraine to do this safely and securely. This is work that has been done proudly, clearly, and out in the open. This work has everything to do with protecting the health of people,” she said.

Greenfield continued to attack Russia by saying they were the aggressor.

“It has absolutely nothing, absolutely nothing to do with biological weapons. In fact, it is Russia that has long maintained a biological weapon program in violation of international law. It is Russia that has a well-documented history of using chemical weapons. It is Russia who is the aggressor here. It was Russian operatives who poisoned Alexei Navalny and Sergei and Yuliak Scrapal with nerve agents,” Greenfield defended.

“It is Russia that continues to support the Assad regime in Syria and shield it from accountability when the UN and the OPCW have confirmed that Assad has repeatedly used chemical weapons over the past several years. And we’re deeply concerned that Russia’s calling for this meeting is a potential false flag effort in action, exactly the kind we have been warning about, including from Secretary Blinkin here in the Security Council last month,” she continued.

  14. reuters – YouTube blocks Russian state-funded media channels globally

Previously, YouTube had blocked leading Russia state-backed channels RT and Sputnik across Europe.

Russian state media have called restrictions placed on them by distributors, which include app stores and other social media services, unjustified censorship.

YouTube did not immediately respond to a request for comment on which and how many channels had been blocked globally, or if they ever would be restored.

Workers across Google had been urging YouTube to take additional punitive measures against Russian channels, accusing them of spreading false narratives about the Ukrainian leadership and civilian deaths during the war, according to three employees at the company.

  15. Zelenskyy says victory is near as battle for Kiev looms

Zelenskyy said on Friday the country had reached a “strategic turning point” and was moving towards “victory” in its war with Russia, as analysts believe Moscow could now be planning an assault on Kiev within days.

The battle for Kiev is “looming large” as the Russian convoy is on the move again after facing logistical issues and stalled progress in the face of Ukrainian resistance over the past two weeks, Mathieu Boulegue, a research fellow on Russia and Eurasia at Chatham said.

On Thursday, the Ukrainian military fought back Russian forces in a village near Kiev, Radio Free Europe reported. A video released by a crew of journalists accompanying Ukrainian soldiers shows troops advancing towards an unidentified location and coordinating the operation while under heavy gunfire.

  17. WaPo -The White House is briefing TikTok stars about the war in Ukraine

With millions getting their information about the war from the platform, the administration wants to get its message to top content creators.

On Thursday afternoon, 30 top TikTok stars gathered on a Zoom call to receive key information about the war unfolding in Ukraine. National Security Council staffers and White House press secretary Jen Psaki briefed the influencers about the United States’ strategic goals in the region and answered questions on distributing aid to Ukrainians, working with NATO and how the United States would react to a Russian use of nuclear weapons.

As the crisis in Ukraine has escalated, millions have turned to TikTok for information on what is happening there in real time. TikTok videos offered some of the first glimpses of the Russian invasion and since then the platform has been a primary outlet for spreading news to the masses abroad. Ukrainian citizens hiding in bomb shelters or fleeing their homes have shared their stories to the platform, while dangerous misinformation and Russian propaganda have also spread. And TikTok stars, many with millions of followers, have increasingly sought to make sense of the crisis for their audiences.

The White House has been closely watching TikTok’s rise as a dominant news source, leading to its decision to approach a select group of the platform’s most influential names.

This week, the administration began working with Gen Z For Change, a nonprofit advocacy group, to help identify top content creators on the platform to orchestrate a briefing aimed at answering questions about the conflict and the United States’ role in it. Victoria Hammett, deputy executive director of Gen Z For Change, contacted dozens with invitations via email and gathered potential questions for the Biden administration.

The invitations to the event were distributed Tuesday and Wednesday. Kahlil Greene, 21, a creator with more than 534,000 followers on TikTok, said he wasn’t surprised when an invitation arrived in his email inbox. “People in my generation get all our information from TikTok,” he said. “It’s the first place we’re searching up new topics and learning about things.” So, he figured, it made sense that the Biden administration would engage people like him on the platform.

The briefing was led by Matt Miller, a special adviser for communications at the White House National Security Council, and Psaki. The Washington Post obtained a recording of the call, and in it, Biden officials stressed the power these creators had in communicating with their followers. “We recognize this is a critically important avenue in the way the American public is finding out about the latest,” said the White House director of digital strategy, Rob Flaherty, “so we wanted to make sure you had the latest information from an authoritative source.”

Jules Terpak, a Gen Z content creator who makes TikTok essays about digital culture, said the White House’s decision to engage creators such as she was essential in helping to stop the spread of misinformation. “Those who have an audience can ideally set the tone for how others decide to assess and amplify what they see online,” she said.

After the call, several influencers said they felt more empowered to debunk misinformation and communicate effectively about the crisis. TikTok has been overrun with false and misleading news since the war broke out, and, on Thursday, the company said it finally would begin labeling state-controlled media on its platform.

Biden has increasingly sought online creators to sell major policy initiatives. The administration worked with dozens of top TikTok stars last year to encourage vaccination. He also hosted a briefing for influencers to educate them about his infrastructure plan. To emphasize the child-care components of his “Build Back Better” initiative, he sat for interviews with two parenting influencers on Facebook Live and YouTube.

Teddy Goff, a founder of Precision Strategies, a consulting firm, said that the White House’s strategy of embracing the next generation of media voices was crucial. “There’s a massive cultural and generational shift happening in media, and you have to have blinders on not to see it,” he said. “The reach of a piece in a traditional news outlet is a fraction of what a big TikToker gets.”

President Donald Trump often engaged online creators and Internet figures, and he hired an influencer marketing firm during his reelection campaign. On Wednesday, he appeared on the NELK boys “Full Send Podcast” where he spoke at length about the Iran nuclear deal and the U.S. strategic oil reserve. The episode was live on YouTube for only a few hours before it was removed for violating the platform’s policy on misinformation.

The voices dominating conversation on the Internet can be freewheeling and unexpected. Many creators on Thursday’s call, for instance, were shocked by the presence of Aaron Parnas, the 22-year-old son of Lev Parnas, a Ukrainian-born American businessman and former associate of Rudolph W. Giuliani’s who assisted Trump’s plan to pressure Ukraine to investigate Trump’s rivals. Parnas was convicted in October on campaign finance charges and recently pleaded guilty to conspiracy.

Aaron Parnas has recently emerged as a powerful TikTok influencer by providing nonstop news updates about Ukraine. On the night of Russia’s invasion, he hosted TikTok live streams discussing the events to over 800,000 viewers. Since then, each day he has posted videos breaking down news about the war every 45 minutes from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Parnas said that his news was not partisan and that he was getting information directly from reputable sources in the country, such as his family members there, local Ukrainian journalists and Ukrainian television. “I love my father, but I am not my father,” he said.

Jules Suzdaltsev, a Ukrainian-born journalist who operates the popular TikTok news channel Good Morning Bad News, said that he thought the overall tone of the briefing was too soft and that officials dodged hard questions. “The energy of the call felt like a press briefing for kindergartners,” he said.

Within hours of the briefing’s conclusion, the influencers began blasting out messaging to their millions of followers. A video posted by Marcus DiPaola, a news creator on TikTok, offered key takeaways from the meeting in a video that has been viewed more than 300,000 views. Greene also posted a recap, adding his own critical analysis at the end, calling out the Biden administration for not “acknowledging its role in other occupations and invasions around the world.”

Ellie Zeiler, an 18-year-old TikTok star with more than 10.5 million followers, said she hopes to remain in communication with the White House and continue to press officials there about key issues. She sees herself as a voice for young people and the growing contingent of news consumers getting information primarily through social media platforms.

“I’m here to relay the information in a more digestible manner to my followers,” she said. “I would consider myself a White House correspondent for Gen Z.”

The United Nations on Friday said it had no evidence Ukraine had a biological weapons program while Washington and its allies accused Russia of spreading the unproven claim as a possible prelude to launching its own biological or chemical attacks.

ember countries called the claim “a lie” and “utter nonsense” and used the session to accuse Russia of deliberately targeting and killing hundreds of civilians in Ukraine, assertions that Russia denies in a 15-day offensive it calls “a special military operation.”

“We have serious concerns that Russia may be planning to use chemical or biological agents against the Ukrainian people,” Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. Ambassador to the UN said.

Russian Ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, criticized the response to the allegations saying “as we expected our western colleagues, first and foremost, neither one of them addressed the substance of the issue we put forward.”
