Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

    “The news comes after Saudi media reported it had destroyed two boats this week, which it said were laden with explosives by the Yemeni Houthi rebels.

    A blast has occurred on a ship off the port city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, media reported citing the United Kingdom Marine Trade Operations (UKMTO).

    “UKMTO is aware a MT has experienced an explosion … whist carrying out operations. Investigations are ongoing”, UKMTO said in an incident notice on Sunday.
    According to the shipping firm, the explosion on tanker was caused by a “hit from an external source.”

    Twitter account TankerTrackers.com said that it had identified the vessel as a bunkering tanker, adding that the incident has had no real impact on crude oil exports.

    According to the Dryad Global maritime security company, it is still unclear whether the ship that suffered the explosion is the Dominican flagged M/T Desert Rose or the Saudi flagged bunkering vessel Al Amal Al Saudi.

    The Saudi media has yet to report on the incident.

    On 4 December, the Saudi-led coalition’s forces intercepted and destroyed a drone filled with explosives launched in the direction of Saudi Arabia’s territory. According to the Kingdom, the attack was conducted by Houthi rebels.

    Since March 2015, the Saudi-led Arab alliance has been conducting air, land and sea operations against the Houthis, who control the capital of Sanaa and large areas in northern and western Yemen. The county has been engulfed in a devastating civil war since 2014.”

    “National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) sent a crude tanker to Venezuela to load it with 1.9m bbl of oil, Bloomberg reported, citing a document seen by the media.

    Ndros vessel, which is owned by New Shipping Ltd-LIB, came to Venezuelan port of Jose under a Palau flag, the report says. However, it is claimed that the ship has been booked by NIOC, which is listed as a client in the transaction, while Venezuelan state-owned company PdVSA is designated as a shipper.

    According to Bloomberg, the ship’s transponder was turned off on Friday when it arrived at Jose – a practice commonly used by vessels trying to avoid detection.

    The United States has targeted both states with a bevy of sanctions in the past, only prompting further cooperation in the oil sector between the two “pariah” states. Tehran has been subject to a US economic and arms embargo, and Washington has been punishing companies that do business with Iran…”

    “At least 24 people were killed when two communities clashed over a territorial dispute in the Batha region of Chad, Minister for Territorial Administration and Autonomous Communities Mahamat Ismael Chaibo said on Monday.

    “It is not an inter-communal conflict, it is a territorial dispute between two communities. What is deplorable [is that] there have been deaths of men. I arrived at the field. The governor was in the place with the entire administration. The situation is well controlled. But still, on both sides, there are 24 cases of deceased people from both communities,” Chaibo said, as quoted by Chadian portal Alwihda Info.

    According to the portal, the incident occurred on Saturday in the village of Achiguek. About 10 people are reported to be injured.”

    “Nigel Farage has criticised the government’s open migrant camps housing hundreds of illegal alien men as “dangerous” and a threat to national security, after it was revealed that migrants have been absconding from one facility without a trace.

    The number of illegal landings of migrants crossing the English Channel by boat has more than quadrupled from last year’s figures, with around 8,500 arriving on Britain’s shores since January 2020, compared to 1,890 the year before.

    Illegals are arriving at such a pace, that the British government has repurposed two former army barracks — one in Folkestone, Kent, another in Penally, Wales — with a third proposed in Barton Stacey, Hampshire. Each facility can hold hundreds of migrants, with reports that they are exclusively all male. The prospective third site has raised concern, given that it can house 500 migrant men, while the village of Barton Stacey itself has only a small population of 1,000 people.

    The Telegraph reported on Sunday that around two migrants a week had disappeared without a trace from the open facility at Napier Barracks in Folkestone, which holds 400 alleged asylum seekers, between September 22nd and October 20th.

    Brexit leader Nigel Farage told the newspaper that he was surprised the figure was not far higher, adding: “The fact is that anyone can come to Britain illegally and then flee. That they’re able to do that from army camps, I’m sure most people will view it, is not just ridiculous but potentially quite dangerous.

    “France are effectively closing their borders at the moment because of the fear of terrorism and I think this is an issue of national security.”

    The report comes after the Daily Express revealed that an Albanian illegal who was one of 69 released from charges of illegal immigration on a technicality was a convicted murderer in his native country.

    Despite not being forcibly held in the facility and being housed, fed, and clothed at taxpayers’ expense, migrants have complained that their accommodation at the Napier Barracks is not up to their standard, comparing it to a “prison”.

    The migrants protested the care they were receiving last month, complaining that their dorms — which were once fit for British soldiers to live in — were too “far away” from showers and toilets, meaning that sometimes they had to walk out in the cold and rain, and that they had to wait in line for the meals prepared for them.

    “We demand that we be moved to housing. Refugees should not be placed in old military camps,” the illegals demanded.

    The government is preparing legislation to come into effect after the UK leaves the EU’s institutions on January 1st that will bar migrants from claiming asylum in the UK if they have crossed the English Channel after having travelled through safe countries in Europe.”

    “Indonesian authorities said Monday that a top terror suspect arrested last week was the architect of a series of deadly attacks and sectarian conflicts in the world’s most populous Muslim nation.

    Aris Sumarsono, known as Zulkarnaen, was arrested Thursday by counterterrorism police in a raid at a house in East Lampung district on Sumatra island.

    “He was the military commander of Jemaah Islamiyah,” National Police spokesperson Ahmad Ramadhan said at a news conference in the capital, Jakarta. “He’s been on the police wanted list for 18 years.”

    Zulkarnaen, a biologist who was among the first Indonesian militants to go to Afghanistan in the 1980s for training, was an instructor at a military academy there for seven years, Ramadhan said.

    Since May 2005, Zulkarnaen has been listed on an al-Qaida sanctions list by the U.N. Security Council for being associated with Osama bin Laden or the Taliban.

    The Security Council said that Zulkarnaen, who became an expert in sabotage, was one of al-Qaida’s representatives in Southeast Asia and one of the few people in Indonesia who had had direct contact with bin Laden’s network.

    It said that Zulkarnaen led a squad of fighters known as the Laskar Khos, or Special Force, whose members were recruited from among some 300 Indonesians who trained in Afghanistan and the Philippines.

    Zulkarnaen was appointed the head of Camp Saddah, a military academy in the southern Philippines established for fighters from Southeast Asia, the Security Council said. He spent a decade at the camp training other Jemaah Islamiyah members.

    He became operations chief for Jemaah Islamiyah after the arrest of his predecessor, Encep Nurjaman, also known as Hambali, in Thailand in 2003.

    The United States’ “Rewards for Justice” program had offered a bounty of up to $5 million for his capture. He was the only Indonesian on the list.

    Indonesian police said he masterminded church attacks that occurred simultaneously in many Indonesian regions during Christmas and New Year’s Eve in 2000 that killed more than 20 people.

    Ramadhan said Zulkarnaen is suspected of being involved in the making of bombs used in a series of attacks, including the 2002 Bali bombings that killed 202 people, mostly foreign tourists, and a 2003 attack on the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Jakarta that killed 12.

    Zulkarnaen was also the mastermind of a bomb attack on the official residence of the Philippine ambassador in Jakarta in 2000 that killed two people, a 2004 suicide attack outside the Australian Embassy that killed nine, and a 2005 bombing in Bali that killed 20, Ramadhan said.

    He said Zulkarnaen was also the architect of sectarian conflict in Ambon and Poso from 1998 to 2000.

    Conflicts between Christians and Muslisms in Ambon, the provincial capital of the Molluca islands, left more than 5,000 people dead and half a million displaced. The Muslim-Christian conflict in Poso, known as a hotbed of Islamic militancy on Indonesia’s Sulawesi island, killed at least 1,000 people from 1998 to 2002.

    Police previously said they were tipped off to Zulkarnaen’s location in raids after interrogating several suspected militants arrested late last month.

    Zulkarnaen is also accused of harboring Upik Lawanga, another bomb maker and a key Jemaah Islamiyah’ member. Lawanga was arrested by counterterrorism police in Lampung late last month. He had eluded capture since 2005 after being named as a suspect in an attack that killed more than 20 people at a market in Poso.

    A court banned Jemaah Islamiyah in 2008, and the group was weakened by a sustained crackdown on militants by Indonesia’s counterterrorism police with U.S. and Australian support. A new threat has emerged in recent years inspired by Islamic State group attacks abroad.

    Indonesia’s last major militant attack was in May 2018, when two families carried out suicide bombings in the country’s second-largest city, Surabaya, killing a dozen people, including two young girls whose parents had involved them in one of the attacks. Police said the father of the girls was the leader of a militant Jemaah Anshorut Daulah cell who pledged allegiance to Islamic State group leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.”

    ” Pakistan’s counter-terrorism police on Monday raided a militant hideout in the garrison city of Rawalpindi, arresting three suspects linked to past bomb attacks. The men had also plotted to target the Islamabad Stock Exchange, police said.

    According to the police statement, the suspects were involved in four bombings that killed four people and wounded 30 this year. It said the arrested militants had a history of links with the Pakistani Taliban but were now allegedly acting as mercenaries and receiving instructions from someone in neighboring Afghanistan.

    Pakistan has witnessed scores of militant attacks in recent years.

    The latest development comes a day after a roadside bomb wounded 23 people near a police station in the city of Rawalpindi, where the Pakistani military’s headquarters and the offices of the country’s spy agencies are located.

    Rawalpindi is located about 15 kilometers (9 miles) south of the capital, Islamabad.”

    Unfortunately for the aging Biden, he will begin his term with a cloud of illegitimacy hanging over his hair-plugged head. He will of course blame Republican “misinformation” for his lack of legitimacy, but it will persist nonetheless.

    This is nothing new. Every president in the twenty-first century has had his legitimacy questioned — Bush because of Florida, Obama because of the birth certificate, and Trump because of “Russian collusion.” The humdrum routine of it all is no consolation. Americans should have reasonable assurance that the president, regardless of whether they voted for him, actually earned the privilege of holding the office.

    “Jonathan Hall, QC, has admitted that deradicalisation programmes do not always work, comparing terrorists to sex offenders who lie to parol boards, telling them what they want to hear in order to secure release from prison.

    Convicted terrorist Usman Khan was released on parole when he killed two people running the deradicalisation programme he was attending in London in November 2019. He was also talking to a psychologist and had been on an intensive Desistance and Disengagement Programme (DDP) for returning jihadists or convicted terrorists. Authorities had considered the Islamist a success story of a terrorist turning his life around.

    Sudesh Amman, who committed a terror attack in Streatham in February 2020, had also been released early from jail and had attended a deradicalisation course while incarcerated.

    Mr Hall, the independent reviewer for the UK’s terrorism laws, told The Times on Monday that after release, convicted terrorists should remain under surveillance and be subject to lie-detector tests because of the evidence that institutional de-radicalisation of prisoners “simply won’t work” with some radicals.

    “There is no magic bullet, there is no special pill you can take that deradicalises people whether they’re coming back from overseas from Syria or whether they’re being released from prison. It’s a pretty difficult, complex and fraught process. You can’t tell the public that you can place someone with a theological mentor [. . .] and they’ll come out the other side. It’s far more difficult than that,” Hall said.

    The independent reviewer of terrorism legislation said that while “there will be some who will change”, “you should be under no illusions. It is not some automatic process. And in many cases it simply won’t work.”

    “Terrorists are deceptive like sex offenders. It’s well documented, you get people who will say things just because they know that’s what people want to hear. And this is a really tricky issue,” he added.

    Kings College London’s International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation (ICSR) had come to a similar conclusion in a July report which revealed that Islamist terrorists were engaged in “false compliance” based on the Islamic concept of “taqiyya” — hiding one’s true intentions — in order to appear reformed and secure early release from prison.

    The report had named Khan as one such terrorist fooling authorities, but also identified others using taqiyya in Europe, including Adel Kermiche in France. Kermiche was released from custody in 2016 after convincing the judge that he was a peaceful Muslim, just before he and Abdel Malik Petitjean beheaded 85?year?old Catholic priest Jacques Hamel.

    The ICSR report also mentioned that some 40 female ISIS inmates at a French prison had tricked judges into believing that they no longer followed the extremist terrorist doctrines to receive lenient sentences. This detail and Mr Hall’s remarks raise particular concern as the Supreme Court deliberates ISIS bride Shamima Begum’s request to return to the UK to challenge having her British citizenship removed. While her lawyers claim she is harmless, the government told the senior judges that Begum has been “assessed to pose a real and current threat to national security”.

    A former al Qaeda bomb-maker turned MI6 informant has said that there “is no such thing as a rehabilitated jihadist” and that the British government’s attempts to do so are a waste of time, calling instead for longer prison sentences.

    “The only way [a jihadist] can demonstrate that they’ve renounced violent extremism is if they have sung like a canary and provided damaging intelligence on the networks that recruited them,” Aimen Dean said earlier this year.”

    A forensic audit of Dominion Voting Systems machines and software in Michigan showed that they were designed to create fraud and influence election results, a data firm said Monday.

    “We conclude that the Dominion Voting System is intentionally and purposefully designed with inherent errors to create systemic fraud and influence election results,” Russell Ramsland Jr., co-founder of Allied Security Operations Group, said in a preliminary report.

    “The system intentionally generates an enormously high number of ballot errors. The electronic ballots are then transferred for adjudication. The intentional errors lead to bulk adjudication of ballots with no oversight, no transparency, and no audit trail. This leads to voter or election fraud. Based on our study, we conclude that The Dominion Voting System should not be used in Michigan. We further conclude that the results of Antrim County should not have been certified,” he added.

  34. Judge Approves Release of Dominion Forensic Audit

    A judge in Michigan on Monday permitted parties in a court case to release the results of a forensic imaging examination of Dominion Voting Systems machines, with redactions of code.

    The 23-page report was published soon after by Allied Security Operations Group. It includes expert analysis from Russell Ramsland, a former Republican Party candidate who works with the group.

    Ramsland’s team concluded that Dominion’s system “intentionally generates an enormously high number of ballot errors.”

    Dominion didn’t respond to a request for comment.

    13th Circuit Judge Kevin Elsenheimer agreed to remove a protective order that was blocking the release of the report on the request of attorney Matthew DePerno, after attorneys with Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s office said they didn’t oppose doing so.

    A company that carried out a forensic audit of 22 Dominion Voting Systems in a small Michigan County this month, in a report on Monday, suggested that President Donald Trump take steps to ensure U.S. national security via a 2018 executive order on foreign interference after asserting that the Dominion machines are “intentionally and purposefully designed with inherent errors.”

    The viral video of a Los Angeles restaurateur protesting that her outdoor dining space was shut down, while city officials allowed a production company to set up a catering tent in an adjoining space, rightly provoked anger across the country.

    Owner Angela Marsden called the two-tiered system “a slap in my face.” “They’ve shut us down,” she said, “We cannot survive, my staff cannot survive.”

    And yet the most pitiful aspect of the video is that she’s wearing a mask. It shows she’s a good person; she follows the rules. She will keep her customers safe if only she can keep her business open. Partly hiding her anguished expression, the mask muffles her sobs and pleas for justice.     • People aren’t getting how huge the Solarwinds attack was. Russia now pwns the world.

      This story is huge, and the media isn’t getting how huge it is:

      Solarwinds is used everywhere – some 80% of the Fortune 500 companies. And by the nature of the software, it can access the entire network of every company that uses it, even if it segments networks by sensitivity of the data on each one.

      That means that for six entire months, the Russians (presumably) have had full, unfettered access to even the most sensitive networks and databases for most of the major corporations and many of the governments on the planet.

      The FireEye breach that was acknowledged last week shows that the hack was operational way, way beyond the US government. If a major security company can get hacked this way, that means that everyone was hacked.

      Russia now has copies of every database it wants from any network, even the most heavily guarded databases. It already stole all the information it wants.

      But it is even worse than that.

      Once they had access to the most sensitive data in every major company, they might have, and probably did, launch similar supply side attacks against every other major software company the way they hacked Solarwinds.

      They may have modified the source code and programs on hundreds or thousands of other products that get downloaded as patches or updates every day. This hack was only the entree to other similar hacks that will not be easily found and eliminated.

      The amount of damage that is possible from this attack is stunning. Russia could use it to turn off or destroy critical infrastructure like the electric grid or nuclear power plants. They could have infiltrated weapons systems.

      They were in for six months. The amount of backdoors and time bombs that could have been inserted in both government and private systems is unfathomable. Our networks aren’t just compromised – they may be fatally compromised.

      The cyberwar started long ago, but Russia might have just won it.
