One needs to read the article in full to understand that this act is more than cutting down a few trees. This is an act of war no different than bombing factories that a national economy depends on. And one where it takes three to four generations to rebuild. And that some of these trees are hundreds and hundreds of years old.

An attack on Greek heritage, migrants chop thousands of olive trees on Lesvos
It has been a wild few days on the Greek island of Lesvos. The past few days has seen two gangs of Afghani immigrants battle each other and African immigrants ridicule and cough on police in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, as reported by Greek City Times.
However, if these incidences were not enough, 5,000 olives trees were cut from their roots by illegal immigrants from the infamous Moria migrant camp, to the north of Lesvos’ capital city of Mytilene.
Olive trees take approximately 65-80 years to reach stable yields, meaning that the destroyed trees are a major blow to the local economy. Olive exports amount to about US$700 million every year to the Greek economy.

Chopping down trees was also mentioned in muslim scripture. The Meccans chopped down palm trees during the siege in Medina, if I’m not mistaken. It was considered an act of war in Arabian culture, with good reason.
Apart from the historic and theological connotations, it’s of course an act of agroterrorism. The whole refugee push is of course economic warfare as well. Apart from the cost of housing these people, it killed off tourism in Greece. Who wants to go to Lesbos now?

Was this done in secret? Surely the Greek farmers knew what was happening to their trees and they called police. Why did authorities not respond by shooting a few of these invaders with rubber bullets, at very least, to stop them?
From the limited info I have the following stands out:
1) This was a planned and probably coordinated attack, if I have been doing it I would have a riot or some massive hoopla far away so the police would be busy.
2) Erdogan is sure that Brussels will prevent any meaningful resistance to his military attacks.
3) Erdogan (like all dictators) doesn’t care about the lives of his soldiers, he is taking advantage of the Wuhan Flu to spread the CCPs bio weapon among the Europeans while he is making a major attack in the economy of his enemies.
4) From the look of the land in hte pictures olives or other crops grown on trees is probably the only t hing that land is good for. Even if the Greeks want to switch crops it will take years before any tree (apple etc) will be old enough to bear fruit.
5) This is a major blow to the Greek economy but a devastating blow to the economy of that island. Thye only two options that Greeks have is to either provide money to the islanders to help them replant and exist until the trees are once again bearing fruit (if the invaders don’t destroy the saplings) or to evacuate the Greeks from the island and let the invaders have the island. Either choice is a victory for Erdogan and a loss for the Greeks.
It is unlikely that Brussels will provide any meaningful economic or military aid to Greece so they are on their own. I would love to have reliable numbers on the Wuhan Flu Pandemic in Turkey and Iran, for that matter in the rest of the Islamic dominated regions of the Middle East. This would help us make better projections on the future actions of the filthy Turk.
As much as Erdogan’s invasion of Europe is a clear and present danger, the more insidious enemy is Brussels:

Olive trees are a really big deal with the Greeks, much more than just a commodity or a food source. And the symbolism of the planting of an olive tree whose fruit is of no use to the planter but will become of use one day to his grandchild is so darn Greek and traditional and stuff it’s giving me a lump in my throat just thinking about it.
I absolutely guarantee that there will be more than a few Greeks who will see this as a capital offense. Heads are going to roll over this… I just can’t think of any act that would be more blatantly offensive to Greek People than murdering 5,000 ancient olive trees and leaving the little stumps to add to the utter ruin of the landscape like dead bodies over the battlefield…
