CBC lies about racism by 400%, funny how the lies always go one way: Links 2, December 19, 2019

A CBC article on a survey of how many Canadians experience racism originally misled Canadians by overstating the results by 400%.

The article which was originally titled “It’s a constant battle’: Nearly 40% of Canadians experience racism in the workplace” inflated the survey’s results by five times the actual 8% of Canadians who experienced racial discrimination while at work.

(No nation with a pretence to being democratic can have a state controlled or paid media. The CBC is worse than The BBC in that respect. There is at least a pretence of opting out of paying a licence fee for The BBC I think.)

4. Judge dismisses all 19 charges against ex-Afghanistan hostage Joshua Boyle in sexual assault case

(Isn’t Boyle lucky Trudeau got reelected)

Ontario Court Judge Peter Doody on Thursday dismissed all 19 charges against Joshua Boyle, a former hostage of Taliban-linked extremists in Afghanistan.

The charges included counts of assault, sexual assault and unlawful confinement of his estranged wife, Caitlan Coleman. The long trial concluded in October.

Doody said during the three-hour hearing in Ottawa on Thursday that the Crown did not prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt.

The judge said he did not believe Boyle’s version of events, but he could not accept Coleman’s “unconfirmed evidence.” 

“I do not believe her, just as I do not believe Mr. Boyle.”

(The article refers to the orthodox islamic group, Taliban, which actually means students of Islam, as “Taliban linked extremists” twice in this article. Funny how they are so much more  specific when it comes to other groups. Like the NZ killer for instance. They link him to everything they don’t like with little to no evidence. Yet the Taliban kills more people than that guy every weekend and all of it for Allah.)

5. Muslims continue to protest Indian law that doesn’t allow muslims to declare refugee status and get easy access to India from Islamic nations that don’t persecute them.

6. Author JK Rowling draws criticism for transgender comments

NEW YORK (AP) — J.K. Rowling is facing widespread criticism from the transgender community and other activists after tweeting support for a researcher who lost her job for stating that people cannot change their biological sex.

 

The researcher, Maya Forstater, had been a visiting fellow at the Centre for Global Development, which in March declined to renew her contract. A London judge this week upheld her dismissal, finding that her views of sexual identity were “absolutist,” even if they violate someone’s “dignity and/or creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment.”

(The real story here, somewhat ironically, is not the vilification of the public author of Harry Potter, but the imposition in law of a pseudo-reality at the expense of reality itself)
