BERLIN (Reuters) – The anti-immigrant Alternative for Germany (AfD) will have proportionally more lawmakers with an immigrant background in the new parliament than Chancellor Angela’s conservatives, according to a survey.
The AfD, which enters parliament for the first time after winning 12.6 percent of the vote in Sunday’s election, has been sharply critical of Merkel’s decision to take in 1.3 million mainly Muslim migrants and says Islam has no place in Germany.
Yet 7.5 percent of the AfD’s 93 lawmakers have an immigrant background compared with only 2.5 percent of the conservatives, according to the survey by Mediendienst Integration, an online portal that collects data on immigration and asylum.
That leaves the AfD and the conservative bloc each with seven lawmakers with a recent immigrant background.
“Ironically, by entering parliament, the anti-immigrant AfD has contributed to a rise in the number of deputies with an immigration background,” said Jannis Panagiotidis of Osnabrueck University.

6 – It is impossible to overstate the importance of what is happening in Hong Kong, these protests are the last chance that the people in Hong Kong have in maintaining the freedom they are suppose to be enjoying. The protesters are seizing on the exposure that the 70th Anniversary of the communist conquest of China is giving them, this exposure combined with the Trade War between China and the US gives them a small chance that Xi won’t send in the military to crush the protesters and remove all freedom for Hong Kong. If/when Xi sends in the military the US will impose more sanctions on China and the members of the Chinese Government. If he doesn’t send in the mililtary the protests will probably spread to a lot of Chinese Cities, the ones on the mainland won’t be protesting the same things the Hong Kong protesters are but they will put a lot of pressure on the Chinese Communist Party. This will in turn either collapse the Chinese Government or cost them Billions as they shift the military around so they get units in strange cities where t hey will have no problem shooting the protesters.

I wonder about one aspect of this madness more than all the other ugly things it entails: Does one have to bring up religion as the last stand, or even only chance for any defense at all? Even when futile, it is presented as single redeeming quality, or as the sole reason why the stress imposed on this person is undue. Seeing things just as they really are, including that about gods, you’re now even more royally screwed. I’m only waiting for the day that the reality-deniers clash with Islam, the one classic ideology they are totally infatuated with after it captured their attention by murdering a couple thousand people in our midst.
