Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. ***’HERO OF BREXIT’ LORD JAMES OF BLACKHEATH THREATENED OVER EU DEFENCE UNION
    includes video – 2 mins 10 secs + 13 secs + 7 mins + 1 min 39 secs + 41 secs
Lord James of Blackheath has been threatened with the police, told to retract the comments he made in the House of Lords on EU Defence Union, and is facing demands to resign and remain silent on the issue from now on.
“… will somebody please tell us the truth about the European defence union? This is by far the biggest issue facing the British public and they know nothing about it officially. Can we please have a proper account of what it entails? Is it really true that the Government have entered into private agreements with the European Community that they will, on completion of remain or whatever it is to be, transfer to the European Union in Brussels the entire control of our entire fighting forces, including all their equipment?” At this point, Lord Blunkett, former Home Secretary in Tony Blair’s cabinet intervened with what could be perceived to be a threat: I wonder whether the noble Lord would be prepared to give way just for one moment. I appeal to him to conclude, because it is not in either his interests or the interests of the Committee for him to continue. Why would it not be in Lord James’ interests to continue? In the lobby following the Lords’ session, Lord James was approached by former Defence Secretary and NATO Secretary General Lord Robertson, who, incandescent with rage, demanded to know Lord James’ sources for the statements he made in the House. The abusive responses Lord James received from Lord Blunkett and Lord Robertson in the House of Lords were mild compared to more recent communications. Since then, other Lordly colleagues have begun demanding he resign immediately and have advised him he can expect a visit from the police for breach of the Official Secrets Act. Lord James has had the bravery to lift the lid on a policy no-one else in the political establishment wants to discuss. He needs widespread public support.

    • There you go ,giving control of our military to a foreign power is officially a secret, the plebs must not know about this final act of treachery on behalf of the may administration.what else has that bastard signed us up to that we are not allowed to know?

  2. BBC FILMS TEACH CHILDREN OF ‘100 GENDERS – OR MORE’
The broadcaster has been accused of sowing confusion in classroom materials to be shown to children as young as nine. The claim appears in a series of nine films created by BBC Teach to support the personal, social and health education (PSHE) curriculum in schools. “To suggest that being male or female is just a personal identity is false and will inevitably confuse children into believing that their biological sex is a choice.” Davies-Arai said she had not been consulted by the BBC even though Transgender Trend was shortlisted for the John Maddox prize 2018, run by Sense about Science, specifically on the strength of its schools resources pack. The BBC said: “The Big Talk series was contributed to by more than 50 independent experts and professionals and is intended to be used by teachers, within the safe space of the classroom, to prompt further conversation with their pupils on the topics raised.” Nicholas Hellen

  3. THE DEADLY HISTORY OF SOCIALISM
Whether it be called communism, Nazism, socialism, or even progressivism, the kernel of absolute tyranny lies within the heart of the socialist doctrine. It cannot be expunged. It is intrinsic to the ideology, as the history of socialism amply demonstrates. Socialists promise to deliver a better world that provides equality of outcomes for everyone. But that is only an illusion, a bit of propaganda aimed at the gullible. Those who really want to see an improved world, with greater prosperity for all and respect for the individual, need to look elsewhere. They need to look to limited government, diffusion of power, and respect of individual natural rights. If you really want a better world, then fight not for socialism; fight for freedom. “Many associate spirulina with being green, whilst the less common blue variety is simply an extract of this blue-green algae, but the vibrant hue isn’t the only hype around spirulina. It has been dubbed as ‘the best food for the future’ by the United Nations World Food Conference and its popularity increased hugely when investigated and used by NASA as a dietary supplement for astronauts on space missions.

This is not the first time that humans have been consuming blue-green algae. Spirulina was also used as a food source for the Aztecs until the 16th century. In those days spirulina would be harvested from Lake Texcoco and made into cakes. To this day, spirulina is naturally found in salt water and some large fresh-water lakes. ”

  6. Stockholm Sees ‘Alarming’ 20% Increase in Rapes (sputniknews, Sep 9, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201909101076766079-stockholm-sees-alarming-20-increase-in-rapes/

“An average of five rapes per day occurs in the Swedish capital, while only 5 percent of reported rapes results in a perpetrator being sentenced, a development local politicians have described as “unacceptable”.

During the first half of 2019, Stockholm has seen a total of 1,060 rapes. Compared with 890 rapes in the same period last year, this marks a drastic 20 percent increase.

In addition, 24 so-called “negligent rapes” were reported during the first half of the year. This is a recent addition to Sweden’s criminal code that appeared after a so-called “consent act” was introduced on 1 July 2018.

According to the news outlet Mitt i, Stockholm sees an average of five rapes a day, many of them making attention-grabbing headlines, such as the group rape in Hässelby.

The situation is so bad that the Södersjukhuset hospital had to set up a special emergency department for raped women. About 800 victims are treated each year there.

The region’s financial council Irene Svenonoius of the liberal-conservative Moderate Party has called this development unacceptable.

“I look extremely seriously at all the rapes. The increase is alarming”, Svenonius told Mitt i. “We know that the number of rape victims is significantly higher”, she added, calling for “strong and concerted efforts” to solve the problem.

An unknown number of rapes remains unreported and unpunished. According to Södersjukhuset, only six in ten rape victims choose to report the assault to the police.

In many cases, the daily Dagens Nyheter reported earlier in August, sexual assaults are not classified as rape but as other crimes, such as unlawful threats or unlawful coercion, especially if the woman managed to escape.

“This can be at least as traumatic as a rape”, Anna Möller of Södersjukhuset told the newspaper.

Given the recent development, the Moderates are in favour of a higher police presence and harsher penalties to stem the growing number of rapes, Elisabeth Svantesson, Moderates’ fiscal policy spokesperson, said.

“It is not the only way to go, but it is important to highlight the seriousness of the crime. We must treat the perpetrators with hard gloves and ensure that rape actually leads to prosecution”, Svantesson said.

At present, only five in a hundred reported rapes result in sentencing, national broadcaster SVT reported earlier this year. Meanwhile, the number of reported rapes has risen from about 4,000 per year to over 5,000 over the past decade.”

  7. Refugees trapped in Libya to be evacuated to Rwanda (abcnews, Sep 10, 2019)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/refugees-trapped-libya-evacuated-rwanda-65505084

“Rwanda will take in refugees and asylum-seekers trapped in Libya under an agreement signed with the United Nations and African Union.

The agreement signed Tuesday comes after repeated allegations of dire conditions for migrants in Libya’s detention centers, including routine abuse, lack of medical care, and insufficient food.

The United Nations has said its own center for migrants and refugees in Tripoli is becoming dangerously overcrowded as is its center for evacuees in Niger. Evacuation flights to Rwanda are expected to begin in coming weeks. Under the memorandum of understanding, Rwanda would accept an initial group of 500 people who agree to leave from Libya, mostly from the Horn of Africa.

The U.N. says around 4,700 people are being held in Libyan detention centers.”

  8. Report: Over 120 Syrian churches damaged by war since 2011 (abcnews, Sep 10, 2019)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/report-120-churches-damaged-war-syria-2011-65486863

“A Syrian war monitor associated with the opposition said Monday that over 120 Christian places of worship have been damaged or destroyed by all sides in the country’s eight-year conflict.

Some of the attacks were deliberate, such as the Islamic State group using bulldozers to destroy the ancient Saint Elian Monastery in Homs province in 2015. The majority, however, were caused by front-line combat, shelling or rockets.

Christians made up about 10 percent of Syria’s pre-war population of 23 million, who co-existed with the Muslim majority and enjoyed freedom of worship under President Bashar Assad’s government. Most have left for Europe over the past 20 years, with their flight significantly gathering speed since the start of the current conflict.

Around half of all Syrians are now either internally displaced or have left the country.

The report was issued by the Syrian Network for Human Rights, which is registered in the United Kingdom and whose founder and chairman lives in Qatar.

The group, which collects statistics on the war, said government forces were responsible for 60% of the 124 documented attacks since fighting erupted in March 2011. The rest were blamed on IS militants, the al-Qaida-linked group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and other factions of the armed opposition.

There was immediate comment from the government, which rarely comments on reports from foreign organizations.

“Targeting Christian places of worship is a form of intimidation against and displacement of the Christian minority in Syria,” said Fadel Abdul Ghany, the founder and chairman of SNHR.

The report said IS was behind 10 attacks on Christian sites, five of which were in the northern city of Raqqa, once the extremists de-facto capital. The group was known for displacing and killing Christians in areas it controlled and confiscating their properties.

Hardest hit was the northern province of Aleppo, with 34 attacks, 24 by rebels and six by the government.

The highest number of attacks by government forces — 27 out of 29 — was in the central province of Homs.

SNHR’s report also placed blame on Syrian government allies Russia and Iran, but did not specify how many of the attacks they’d caused.”

    • Assad Is Not a Protector of the Church

…As a young woman who belongs to a Syrian minority group—a Syriac group with an independent language, religion, and culture—I ended up as part of a community of displaced persons when ISIS invaded northern Syria….

Assad’s soldiers were only a few kilometers from the scene; they did nothing to help these girls. This was just one instance of the regime’s intentional neglect of terrorism—the expansion of ISIS was the fundamental pretext upholding the Assad regime. Only while the ISIS threat existed could Assad claim he protected against it.…

As Assad tightens his grip on Syria and directs his troops to Idlib, his supporters have begun to spin new stories to justify the regime, presenting a distorted narrative of ‘religious tolerance’ under his rule.

Despite the crimes he has committed against his people, his supporters are now expounding on his ‘tolerance’ and ‘openness to the other,’ and claim that these traits date back to his upbringing and education. According to these stories, Assad frequented the Saidnaya Monastery as a youth and was educated by the nuns of the monastery.…

Unfortunately, the regime’s narrative of ‘tolerance’ was initially bolstered by U.S. and Western legitimation… promoted as being tolerant and progressive, which helped solidify his image as legitimate heir to his father and the republic.

Assad succeeded in drawing Secretary of State John Kerry to Syria, was keen and enthusiastic about this Western attention and his image as a “modern” Syrian president, with French photographers taking romantic photos of him and his wife in Paris neighborhoods.…

  9. Exclusive: Military leaders tell David Muir there is an ‘ISIS insurgency’ in Iraq, warn of breeding ground across Syria border (abcnews, Sep 10, 2019)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/exclusive-military-leaders-david-muir-isis-insurgency-iraq/story?id=65488798

“It is a familiar battlefield, but a different enemy for American troops in Iraq.

Nearly 16 years since the United States went into Iraq to eliminate Saddam Hussein’s alleged weapons of mass destruction, “World News Tonight” anchor David Muir got exclusive access with American troops now fighting an enemy intent on resurging: ISIS.

Mere months after losing their territorial hold across Syria and Iraq — and after President Donald Trump declared ISIS had been “defeated” — the reality on the ground paints a still grim picture of recalcitrant ISIS fighters forming an enduring insurgency.

“We have seen, since the collapse of the caliphate, that ISIS has repositioned a lot of its capabilities,” U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Alex Grynkewich told Muir.

“They’re trying to garner resources, extort the population, do low level attacks. There’s certainly an insurgency going on, on the ground right now,” said Grynkewich, the deputy commander of Operation Inherent Resolve, the joint coalition fighting ISIS on the ground.

Muir traveled deep into the Anbar desert, just 50 miles from the Syrian border, with American and Iraqi forces during an operation to take out ISIS fighters.

Thousands of ISIS fighters, commanders on the ground said, are spread across Iraq and Syria — sleeper cells hiding in the desert, the caves and blending into populations in town and cities, orchestrating attacks and trying to garner resources.

“In the desert, sometimes, they try to blend in, look like shepherds who are just transiting through the area. In the cities, they try to look like the citizens and the population of Anbar, so that they don’t draw attention to themselves, Lt. Col. Ray Stone said.

For months, there have been warnings of a resurgence — at least two Pentagon reports this year, including one from August, cautioned ISIS was far from eradicated. A report from the lead inspector general for Operation Inherent Resolve, which fights ISIS, warned that from April to June, ISIS “solidified insurgent capabilities in Iraq” and established “resurgent cells” in Syria to “expand its command and control nodes in Iraq.”

A partial withdrawal of U.S. forces from Syria further decreased the support available for local forces at a time when they still need training and equipping to respond to ISIS, the report said.

The United Nations went further, saying ISIS leaders are “adapting, consolidating and creating conditions for an eventual resurgence” despite a lack of financing. Those leaders continue to look for ways to “reinvest in the capacity to direct and facilitate complex international attacks,” a July report to the U.N. Security Council said.

“(ISIS) has shown a determination to resist and the capability to counter-attack,” the report said, adding there is currently a net flow of ISIS fighters from Syria aiming to reinforce an emerging network of ISIS cells in Iraq.

Brig. Gen. William Seely, the American commander of Task Force-Iraq in Baghdad, told Muir ISIS had already started planning its way back to Iraq even before its territorial defeat.

“As they withdrew back into Syria, they looked at their future. And so they started sending out fighters, sending out logistics, sending out groups of people to either get back into maybe (internally displaced people) camps or refugee camps and try to blend back (in),” Seely said. “They’re trying to get logistics set up. They’re trying to conduct operations. They’re trying to refinance their operations.”

Coalition forces have escalated the number of bombs and missiles used to combat ISIS — in operations much like the one ABC News witnessed firsthand, where American military train, guide and support Iraqi forces, who move in after airstrikes on ISIS targets.

With coalition support, Iraqi Security Forces attempt to break up ISIS networks, both physical and virtual, in large villages and cities, according to Seely.

In a recent week this summer, American and Iraqi forces took out tunnels and supply depots ISIS used to hide near Mosul, and north of Baghdad.

But the fight is far from over — both within Iraq and across the border in Syria.

Earlier this summer, ISIS released a propaganda video showing heavily armed fighters there vowing to revive their caliphate…”

      • I haven’t seen anything about recycling garbage for military meals and want more then this source before I believe it.

All good propaganda contines some truth, a fact the left is ignoring. In this video the fact is about the calls for cannibalism.

  10. Greece Arrests Two From Migrant Boat for People Smuggling (breitbart, Sep 10, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/09/10/greece-arrests-two-from-migrant-boat-for-people-smuggling/

“Greece’s coast guard says it has seized a sailing boat and arrested two people on suspicion of trying to smuggle 37 migrants to Italy.

The coast guard said Tuesday the Ukrainian-flagged boat was stopped in the Ionian Sea northwest of the island of Zakinthos on Monday morning. The 37 people crammed on board were transported to Zakinthos port, while the boat was confiscated. The nationalities of the passengers were not released.

Authorities said they were investigating whether the two suspects, identified only as foreigners aged 35 and 49, might be part of an international migrant smuggling ring.

Hundreds of people continue to arrive in Greece from Turkey, most hoping to make their way to more prosperous European nations further north. With routes through the Balkans blocked, many turn to smugglers.

Thirty-four migrants including women and a small child who had been rescued by a German sailboat were successfully transferred to a larger humanitarian ship during a thunderstorm in international waters north of Libya.

The transfer happened late Monday about 120 kilometers (75 miles) off the Libyan coast, near the Bouri offshore oil field.

The 22 men, six women and a 1-year-old boy had been rescued earlier in the day from a rubber boat with a broken engine by the crew of a 14-meter-long sailboat operated by the German charity Resqship.

Wrapped in shiny thermal blankets, the migrants were transferred in pouring rain to the much larger Ocean Viking after the sailboat declared a state of emergency.

An Associated Press journalist aboard the Ocean Viking, a Norwegian-flagged ship run jointly by SOS Mediterranee and Doctors Without Borders, witnessed the operation.

There are now more than 80 migrants on the ship, which rescued 50 others over the weekend.”

  11. MUHARRAM 10 – ASHURA 2019 – — 31 pilgrims killed in building collapse during Ashura commemoration in Iraq

About 100 more were injured as they commemorated the death of Hussein, Prophet Mohammad’s grandson

Dozens of pilgrims were killed on Tuesday after a building collapsed during Ashura commemorations in the Iraq’s holy city of Karbala.

At least 31 people died and at least 100 others were injured “towards the end of the Ashura ritual, causing panic and a stampede,” health ministry spokesman Saif Al Badr said, adding that the toll was expected to rise. Ten of those hurt in the incident suffered severe injuries.

A Karbala security official said that overcrowding was at fault for the stampede. “People were pushing each other which resulted in the stampede and the death and injury of many pilgrims,” he said. He denied reports that a building had collapsed.

However, security officials told The Associated Press that the stampede happened when part of a walkway collapsed during the commemorations.

There is, as yet, no official confirmation.

Tens of thousands of people converge on the holy city on the 10th day of the lunar month of Muharram, one of the most sacred religious days for the Shiite sect.

Pilgrims walk around Karbala every year to commemorate the death of Hussein, Prophet Mohammad’s grandson, during a major battle near the city in 680 CE.

Crowds gather at the shrine of Imam Hussein to commemorate his slaying. The rituals involve self-flagellation and stampedes have occurred in the past.

    Karbala stampede kills 31 pilgrims

At least 31 pilgrims were killed on Tuesday in a stampede at a major shrine in Iraq’s Karbala where they were marking the holy day of Ashura, the Iraqi health ministry said.

Ministry spokesman Saif al-Badr said the toll could rise even further, as another 100 people were injured including 10 in critical condition.

It is the deadliest stampede in recent history during Ashura, when Shia pilgrims from around the world swarm Karbala to commemorate the martyrdom of Hussein — Prophet Muhammed’s (PBUH) grandson.

He was killed in the year 680 by the forces of then ruler Yazid, a major event which helped solidify the divide between what would become Islam’s Sunni and Shia branches.

On Tuesday, packed processions of black-clad worshipers made their way to his gold-domed shrine in Karbala, carrying black flags with “Hussein” written in red and wailing loudly.

Similar ceremonies took place in the capital Baghdad and in the southern cities of Najaf and Basra.

Under ex-dictator Saddam Hussein’s Sunni-dominated regime, the vast majority of Ashura commemorations were banned. Now, the day is a national holiday, with streets across the country shuttered to allow for elaborate re-enactments of the Battle of Karbala.

In 2005, at least 965 pilgrims heading to the Imam Kadhim shrine in Baghdad during a different holiday died after rumours of a suicide bomber in the crowd sparked a mass stampede.

  12. Why are CNN and NBC apparently trying to ‘out’ a former CIA asset from Russia?
    By J.E. Dyer September 10, 2019

When CNN reported on Monday that the CIA had decided to exfiltrate a highly-placed Russian asset in 2017, alarms started going off – as they should – about why anonymous sources from inside the intelligence community are exposing this information.

CNN’s report frames it as concern about how Trump was handling sensitive intelligence at the time; i.e., in early 2017, before the exfiltration was decided on. The concern about Trump and intelligence sources and methods was said to have prompted the removal of the asset from Russia.

That is silly, and is not what counts.

The CIA immediately responded, moreover, denying that the “Trump concern” was even the case, a fact CNN includes in the current version of its report.

“Czech President Milos Zeman dislikes Kosovo, a former Serbian province whose declaration of independence Serbia does not recognize.

As he landed in the Serbian capital of Belgrade on Tuesday, greeted by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Zeman said in English: “I like Serbia and Serbian people.” He then added in a lower voice: “And I dislike Kosovo.”

    Vucic responded with “Thank you.”

The Czech Republic is among 23 European Union nations that have recognized the independence of the former Serbian province of Kosovo after it split from Serbia in 2008 following a bloody war in 1998-99 that ended with NATO air strikes. The U.S. also backs Kosovo’s statehood, while Russia and China have sided with Serbia and refused to recognize it.

  15. Taliban’s Opium Fields Blocking Chinese Conquest of Afghanistan (breitbart, Sep 10, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2019/09/10/talibans-opium-fields-blocking-chinese-conquest-of-afghanistan/

“Fully integrating Afghanistan into China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) will require the construction of rail lines through the southern part of the South Asian country, home to the Taliban’s primary stronghold and the nation’s top opium-producing region.

Opium and its heroin derivative are the Taliban’s bread and butter — the top source of income for the terrorist organization. Taliban narco-jihadis may not be willing to surrender their lucrative economic engine, known to generate hundreds of millions of dollars annually for the terrorist.

The BRI, which turned six last week, is China’s global infrastructure and digital network project that is expected to run through Central and Southern Asia.

In 2016, Afghanistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to join its neighbor China’s project.

China has already begun construction of railway projects in Afghanistan that is expected to link the war-ravaged country to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a major BRI component.

Last month, the Observer Research Foundation, an Indian think-tank, acknowledged:

China is linked to northern Afghanistan through the Sino-Afghanistan Special Railway Transportation Project and the Five Nations Railway Project, and intends to connect with southern Afghanistan via the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), in a mutually beneficial arrangement. China and Afghanistan have also initiated a fiber optic link via the Wakhan Corridor in the Badakhshan Province of Afghanistan.

In August 2018, the Organization for Policy Research and Development Studies, a Kabul-based think-tank, also noted that connecting Afghanistan to CPEC would require rail lines through the Afghan provinces of Helmand and Kandahar.

The Taliban controls most of Helmand province. While the level of Taliban control in Kandahar is lower, the area is the birthplace of the terrorist group.

Historically, the provinces of Helmand and Kandahar in southern Afghanistan have been the top opium-producing regions in Afghanistan, according to United Nations data.

Afghanistan is the world’s top producer of opium and its heroin derivative, a multi-billion dollar business that generates more money than the country’s licit exports.

U.S. officials have expressed objections to China’s BRI activities in the war-ravaged country. The United States has devoted a massive amount of blood and treasure to the conflict in Afghanistan — nearly $1 Trillion, 2,296 U.S. military deaths, and 20,543 injuries. Nevertheless, China is now the top foreign investor in the South Asian country.

The U.S. military described China’s BRI activities in Afghanistan as a potential threat in February.

China may use its global infrastructure project to “support and mask” its military objectives in Afghanistan, Gen. Joseph Votel, a top American commander in the region, declared.

Beijing understands that peace in Afghanistan is essential for the success of its Belt and Road Initiative. China has repeatedly expressed support for U.S.-backed efforts to achieve peace with the Taliban.

“Peace in Afghanistan is consistent with China’s interests as it is pivotal to the implementation of the China-initiated Belt and Road Initiative in the region,” Chinas state-run Global Times reported on Monday.

“China is keen to enroll a peaceful Afghanistan in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor,” a senior Pakistani government official told the Nikkei Asian Review on condition of anonymity this week. “Afghanistan badly needs to build its infrastructure, and China wants to help.”

Beijing is also well aware that the Taliban controls or holds sway of nearly half of Afghanistan and has expressed support for the terrorist as a legitimate political player in the country.

Despite the Taliban’s links to Uighur Muslims in China, Beijing has been cultivating ties with the narco-jihadi group as the U.S. looks to end its war in Afghanistan.

Uighur jihadis are known to operate alongside the Taliban and its al-Qaeda allies in Afghanistan, which shares a border with China’s Xinjiang province. Xinjiang is a Uighur-majority region.

China met with Afghanistan and Pakistan on the same day that President Trump announced an end to peace negotiations with the Taliban, likely upending U.S. plans to pull out of Afghanistan.

“Pakistan hosted a third round of trilateral talks with China and Afghanistan on Saturday covering trade, counterterrorism and an end to Afghanistan’s 18-year war,” the Associated Press reported.

Afghanistan and Pakistan expressed a commitment to work with Beijing on jointly building BRI and combating terrorism in the region, China’s state-run Xinhua news outlet added.”

  16. Sweden: Bystanders Injured in Gang Shooting Involving Automatic Weapons (breitbart, Sep 10, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/09/10/sweden-bystanders-injured-gang-shooting-automatic-weapons/

“Two bystanders were injured in what Swedish police believe to be a gang-related assassination attempt on an individual previously targeted for murder.

The shooting, which took place in Nacka in Stockholm county on Sunday evening, saw two people seriously injured including a taxi driver and another person who was inside their apartment at the time of the incident, Aftonbladet reports.

Carolina Paasikivi, police chief of Stockholm South, said the shooting was connected to a previous shooting in Råcksta, another part of Stockholm, on the 30th of August that saw an 18-year-old named Ndella Jack killed, although her husband is said to have been the actual target.

Police say that around 15 shots were fired, many entering nearby apartments and said the men who were targets were likely tricked into coming to the area.

Paasikivi also noted that several prominent gang members had been recently released before the shootings and did not rule out further violence. “Unfortunately, it is retaliation after retaliation until we manage to stop it,” she said.

According to Paasikivi, few of those involved are willing to talk to police and called on the public to help identify the individuals in the shooting.

“Whether they are victims or perpetrators, they do not cooperate with us, they do not talk to us. This means that we are extremely dependent on the public’s help with tips, observations, and testimonies,” she said.

Regional police chief Ulf Johansson described the current situation as serious saying: “The conflict situation in the criminal circles is very serious right now, and the availability of weapons is still high in the region.”

Stockholm has seen 67 shootings so far this year with 20 injured and 15 killed. While the number of overall shootings is slightly down from January to September of 2018, the number of deaths in the same period has increased from six to 14 this year.

The shooting comes only days after famous lawyer Henrik Olsson Lilja was injured after being shot in the head and chest outside a residential building in Stockholm.”

  17. The principle of social inclusion (inclusiveness) dictates beliefs, practices and attitudes that cause individuals with diverse characteristics of any kind to feel valued, respected and able to interact with other individuals or groups without bias or discrimination. In practice, inclusiveness entails not just nominal inclusion of radically different individuals in a group but presupposes automatic and unqualified belonging just on account of nominal inclusion. I argue that social pressure in favour of ‘being inclusive’ conditions individuals, children in particular, not to avoid or exclude individuals whom they dislike. The pro-inclusion conditioning may also trigger feelings of guilt when the conditioned individual cannot articulate valid reasons for disliking someone. This is bound to impede the capacity of children and adults to recognise and escape abusive relationships. Since pro-inclusiveness is an ideological rather than strictly rational position, it may be the case that no socially acceptable reasons for defensive exclusion exist within some contexts.

The focus of inclusiveness training is on neutralising the instinctive fear of difference and the individual sense for what is culturally right and wrong. According to one Government funded Inclusion Agency: “Inclusion happens when children are viewed as capable and valued contributors as opposed to having deficits that need to be fixed… Inclusion is everybody’s responsibility, though sometimes our fears, lack of confidence, attitudes and beliefs can be the most significant barriers to achieving this.” The underlying conviction that the ethical imperative to be inclusive overrides our personal values, emotions and fears and flatly negates the possibility of ‘deficits in others that need to be fixed’ inadvertently stigmatises our instinctive sense of personal wellbeing and safety that requires readiness for precautionary avoidance and a degree of distrust for the unknown. If the individual sense of right and wrong is rejected then moral agency is also rejected, leaving individuals simultaneously dehumanised and fully subordinated to some external moral authority. The premise that we are obliged to include others, or that inclusion is something that the group ‘owes’ to any individual, is posited as a self-evident truth, without any empirical evidence that this is beneficial to the individuals who are comitted to inclusiveness. In other words, the ethic of inclusion facilitates secondary exclusion capable of creating extreme asymmetry of power, especially in relation to epistemic first-person authority; a paradox.

  18. Exclusive: Pak’s ISI holds high-level meeting with many terror groups in Islamabad (dnaindia, Sep 10, 2019)
    https://www.dnaindia.com/india/report-exclusive-pak-s-isi-holds-high-level-meeting-with-many-terror-groups-in-islamabad-2788692

“A rattled Pakistan is having high-level meetings with terror groups including JeM, LeT, Hizbul Mujahideen and others to plan attacks in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).

Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has held a high-level meeting with many terror groups in Islamabad to plan its nefarious activities against India.

The ISI’s meeting which took place in Islamabad was held with terror groups including JeM, LeT, HM, and Khalistani Zindabaad force (KZF). The closed-door meeting in Islamabad was also attended by some Pro-Khalistan terror groups.

Snubbed internationally for raking up India’s internal issue of abrogating Article 370, a rattled Pakistan is once again trying to draw international attention on Jammu and Kashmir by planning out terror attacks against India with the help of Khalistani terrorist group.

On Monday, sources in intelligence agencies have told that Pakistan-based terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) is planning to carry out attacks on camps of Indian Army and other security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. They also said that four LeT terrorists are involved in plotting attacks on security establishment.

According to the sources, the terrorist might make attempts to carry out attacks on Bari Brahmana camp in Samba district, and Sunjwan and Kaluchak Army camps in the Jammu region.

There are also reports of terrorists planning to infiltrate through Shopian area and later reach Jammu.

Last week as many as 50 infiltrators were waiting near the Line of Control (LoC) to enter India. The revelation was made by two Pakistani terrorists, who were arrested from Gulmarg.”

The minimum wage hikes have hit fast food workers the hardest as fast food companies adapt and automate. Fighting for a $15 minimum wage means that some employees, increasingly part-timers, get paid $15 an hour, while a lot of others lose their jobs.

Automation would have probably come anyway, but without the minimum wage hikes would have been more limited in scope. Instead fast food work is being automated and outsourced to fast food gig economy delivery guys. And by the time the lefties catch up with the gig economy, the delivery will be done by drones.

  20. Criminologists Mislead Us
That one blatant phenomenon they don’t have the guts to talk about.
    September 10, 2019
    Walter Williams

ohn Paul Wright, professor at University of Cincinnati, and Matthew DeLisi professor at Iowa State University have penned a powerful article titled “What Criminologists Don’t Say, and Why,” in City Journal, Summer 2017. There is significant bias among criminologists. The reason for that bias is that political leanings of academic criminologists are liberal. Liberal criminologists outnumber their conservative counterparts by a ratio of 30-to-1. Ideology almost perfectly predicts the position of criminologists on issues from gun control to capital punishment to harsh sentencing. Liberal criminologists march in step for gun control, oppose punitive prison sentences, and are vehemently against the death penalty.

In 2012, the National Academy of Sciences commissioned a study on the growth of incarceration. It showed that from 1928 until 1960, crime rates rose slowly each year. After the 1960s, crime rates exploded to unprecedented levels of violence until the 1990s. Prior to 1980, only 40% of individuals arrested for murder were sentenced to prison and those that were served an average of five years. In 1981, less than 10% of those arrested for sexual assault were sentenced to prison. Those who were sentenced served an average of 3.4 years. Liberal criminologists probably believe that light sentencing for murderers and rapists is just.

If criminologists have the guts to even talk about a race-crime connection, it’s behind closed doors and in guarded language. Any discussion about race and crime sets one up for accusations of racism and that can mean the destruction of one’s professional career. Wright and DeLisi say that liberal criminologists avoid discussing even explicit racist examples of black-on-white crime such as flash-mob assaults, “polar bear hunting” and the “knockout game.” These are cases where black youth seek out white people to physically attack.

  23. Straight Pride Parade: Law and order loses in Boston as high court justice upholds leftist DA

Score another win for uncivil society and lawlessness.

A Supreme Judicial Court justice appointed by Gov. Charlie Baker ruled that Judge Richard Sinnott III was not allowed to force prosecutors to pursue a disorderly conduct case against a Straight Pride Parade protester, handing Suffolk District Attorney Rachael Rollins a huge victory.

Massachusetts is becoming more of an embarrassment every day — whether it’s Rollins giving criminals a free pass onto the streets or crooked city officials accepting bribes or judges slipping illegal-immigrant criminals out through back doors.

  24. Nadler’s Push For Impeachment Is A Crisis For America, Not Just Trump
    By
    Sara Carter –

The House Judiciary Committee will vote Thursday to establish rules for hearings on impeachment to continue the panel’s investigations of President Donald Trump. Basically, the Democrats are desperately searching for a crime: any crime will do and they are not going to stop until they find one.

Chairman Jerrold Nadler doesn’t seem to care about anything unless it’s “impeachment.” He has no evidence of malfeasance by the President but he, like Rep. Adam Schiff, D-CA, don’t seem to care.

They are holding congressional hearings in search of a crime. Mind you, they have no evidence of anything but they are hoping, like they did with their debunked Trump Russia collusion theory, that they will find one.

Here’s what he said in his statement Monday.

Chula Vista church vandalized with Satanic imagery

CHULA VISTA (KUSI) – A Chula Vista church was vandalized over the weekend and authorities Monday are investigating the damage as a hate crime.

Staff at the South Bay Pentecostal Church on D Street reported the vandalism Sunday morning, according to Chula Vista police.

Officers found several spray-painted messages on the wall, including the word “Lucifer,” an apparent pentagram and other scrawlings, police said.

Surveillance footage captured by cameras at the church showed a vehicle pull up to the location around 12:30 a.m. Sunday and two individuals get out before going to the back of the church, where the graffiti was found.

Police suspect two people were responsible for the incident, but no suspect descriptions were immediately available.

[Ed. – Poisoning the well for legitimate concerns about what presidential candidate Biden was doing as VP, pressuring Ukraine’s government entities at a time when their decisions affected his son’s business dealings? How much more full-frontal can all this get?]

Three U.S. House of Representatives committees said on Monday they had begun “a wide-ranging investigation” into reports that President Donald Trump, his lawyer Rudy Giuliani and possibly others pressured Ukraine’s government to assist Trump’s re-election campaign.

The Democratic chairman of the House Intelligence, Oversight and Foreign Affairs committees wrote to the White House and State Department seeking records related to what they described as efforts to “manipulate the Ukrainian justice system.”
