TWO British Muslims have been arrested after allegedly plotting to kidnap and murder a female relative who renounced Islam.
The pair were detained by the National Crime Agency after an alleged plan to kill the 25-year-old was uncovered.
Mohammed Patman, 54, and Darya Khan Safi, 49, both originally from Afghanistan, were detained by cops at their London and Coventry homes yesterday.
The NCA says both were wanted by Slovakian authorities, accused of conspiring to murder the woman.
She lives in Austria and works in Slovakia for a company she ran with her husband.
An Armed Operations Unit watched the pair allegedly prepare for multiple trips to both countries, where they observed the victim.
Patman and Safi were seen blacking out the windows of a car used to go to Austria and Slovakia, officers said, and swapping the tyres for winter ones.
They were also allegedly found talking about the potential plot in phone and internet records for the pair.
Patman and Safi are being held on European Arrest Warrants and will now face extradition to Slovakia.

A Met Police officer who downloaded porn on a grieving father’s TV while he waited for an undertaker to collect his son’s body has been jailed.
Avi Maharaj, 44, was called to Graham and Allison Miller’s house in Earlsfield, south west London, on February 11 last year after their 14-year-old son Harry took his own life.
While he waited for his body to be taken, he guessed the family’s Virgin Media pin number and managed to make two purchases of pornography totalling £25.96.
The court heard Mr Miller thought his dead son had downloaded the videos before he found out what happened.
He was today sentenced to 12 months in prison at Southwark Crown Court after pleading guilty to fraud.
4. Pakistan sentences three in infamous wedding video ‘honour’ killing
Peshawar, Pakistan: A Pakistani court has sentenced three men to life in prison for the murder of women filmed enjoying themselves at a wedding, in a notorious years-old case that spotlighted so-called “honour killings”.
The case in the mountainous northern region of Kohistan has attracted international attention since it first emerged in 2012, when a local cleric was accused of ordering the deaths of male and female guests filmed at a wedding.
Three of the women in the video were murdered, district public prosecutor Attaullah told AFP on Thursday.
Those convicted included Umar Khan, the brother of one murdered woman, and Saier Khan and Sabeer Khan, fathers of the other two, he said.
“The court on Thursday awarded life imprisonment to three men each for murder, while five others were acquitted,” he told AFP.
The defendants’ lawyer Sarfaraz Khan said they would fight the decision in a higher court.
The 2012 video showed the women clapping as a man danced in the deeply conservative mountainous area of Kohistan, 175 kilometres north of the capital Islamabad.
Men and women had allegedly been in the room together, in defiance of the patriarchal notion of “honour” at the heart of strict tribal customs that separate men and women at weddings – though the video does not show them together.
Women have been shot, stabbed, stoned, set alight and strangled for bringing “shame” on their families for everything from refusing marriage proposals to wedding the “wrong” man and helping friends elope.
(An excellent example of truth and reason negated by the narrative.)
