Outrage Over Swedish Church’s Support Concert for ‘Daesh Children’ (sputniknews, May 13, 2019)

“While Sweden has contributed some 300 jihadists to the terrorists’ cause in the Middle East, the number of children born to Swedish jihadists and Daesh brides has been estimated at 60 to 80.
A church in Gothenburg’s Högsbo parish has arranged a support concert in order to raise money for several dozen Daesh children with a connection to Sweden left in refugee camps across the Middle East, national broadcaster SVT reported.
Högsbo parish priest Lina Westberg said that it was “a matter of course” for her to open the church’s doors for this purpose.
“We gladly step in if the members have wishes. And this situation is very much a matter for the church itself”, Westberg said.
By her admission, the congregation wants to focus on all Swedish Daesh children, whose number is estimated between 60 and 80, to be taken “home”.
“We want to work for them to come to Sweden”, Westberg said.
At the same time, a specific fund-raising effort was held to help the seven orphans of the late jihadist and terrorist recruiter Michael Skråmo, who is also known by his Islamic name Abou Ibrahim al-Swaidi. Skråmo, who was reported dead in March 2019, was often labelled Scandinavia’s “most dangerous” terrorist.
The concert was held on Saturday night at the Högsbo church in Gothenburg with the purpose of raising money for Skråmos’ father-in-law, Patricio Galvez, whose recent efforts to bring his orphaned grandchildren home have been glorified by national broadcaster SVT. Galvez is currently in the Iraqi city of Erbil, where his seven grandchildren were transported from Baghouz in Syria to the Swedish consulate in Iraq. SVT described the unification as a “joyful scene”.
On social media, many were extremely critical of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Sweden’s involvement and overall stance.
“Wondering if the Church of Sweden devoted even a tenth of its time to Christian victims Galvez’s daughter and her man slaughtered, raped, murdered and tortured in Iraq and Syria?” an indignant user wrote.
“Högsbo church. As beautiful on the outside as its priests on the inside. Praise God, the public service and the murderers for Daesh children!” another user tweeted, posting a photograph of the Högsbo church, and a concrete block.
Hypocrisy was another common theme of reproach.
“That’s interesting, where were you when when the genocide of the Yazidis happened?” a user tweeted.
“Damn! How lucky I was to have jumped out of the Swedish idiot church long ago. Invite others to do the same. If you do not like LGBT priests, socialism and refugee harbouring, the decision should be simple”, yet another tweeted in resentment…”

“SAUDI Arabia’s energy minister has said two Saudi oil tankers targeted in a so-called “sabotage attack” off the coast of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have sustained “significant damage”.
Khalid Al-Falih made the comments in a statement early on Monday by the state-run Saudi Press Agency, before he labelled the attack a “dangerous threat to the safety and navigation and international security”. He said the two tankers were targeted off the coast of Fujairah, one of the Emirates in the UAE. The UAE on Sunday said the sabotage targeted four boats, without elaborating or naming suspects.
It came just hours after Iranian and Lebanese media outlets aired false reports of explosions at the nearby Emirati port in Fujairah, which bunkers and ships oil.
Khalid Al-Falihsaid said one tanker was en route to the kingdom to be loaded with Saudi crude oil to send to the United States.
He said: “Fortunately, the attack didn’t lead to any casualties or oil spill; however, it caused significant damage to the structures of the two vessels.”
The US has issued a new alert to maritime traffic over alleged “acts of sabotage” of ships off the coast of the United Arab Emirates amid heightened regional tensions between American and Iran.
The US Maritime Administration, which stressing the incidents had not been confirmed, warned shippers early Monday to exercise caution when travelling past Fujairah, a port city on the eastern edge of the United Arab Emirates on the Gulf of Oman.
It gave coordinates of the alleged sabotage, putting it just north of Fujairah.
Emirati officials on Sunday declined to elaborate on the nature of the sabotage or say who might have been responsible.
However, the reported incident came after the US warned ships that “Iran or its proxies” could be targeting maritime traffic in the region, and as America deploys an aircraft carrier strike group and B-52 bombers to the Persian Gulf to counter alleged threats from Tehran, though no official has given details of them…”

Kazi Islam, 24, was released after serving four years of an eight-year sentence for trying to groom a teenager with learning difficulties to murder troops and gather supplies to build pipe bombs.
Islam has returned to his family home in East London, The Daily Telegraph reported.
He is said to be living next door to his uncle Kazi Rahman, a convicted terrorist and associate of the banned terror group al-Muhajiroun that Choudary used to lead.
Islam, who was inspired by the murder of Fusilier Lee Rigby in 2013, was branded ‘callous’ and ‘manipulative’ by a judge for encouraging student Harry Thomas, 24, to carry out an attack.
Thomas, who was 19 at the time of his conviction, had Asperger’s syndrome and was groomed by Islam to change his name to Haroon.
He was jailed last year for attempted murder.
A source close to his family said he had ‘spiralled out of control’ after being targeted.
They added: ‘He never really got over what happened to him. He was extremely vulnerable and Kazi Islam deliberately targeted him. It has ruined his life.’
Last week it was reported that Anjem Choudary, Britain’s most notorious Islamist hate preacher, had returned to his former home, sparking fears he could pose a new security threat.

“Progressive teaching methods have fuelled the rise in poor discipline, the Government’s bad behaviour tsar has said.
Tom Bennett, who has been appointed by ministers to head up a taskforce into bad behaviour at schools, said that for several decades the issue has been “swept under the carpet”.
In his first interview since his appointment, he said progressivism – the dominant ideology in education which became popular in the 1960s and 70s – has led to low level disruption going unchallenged.
“There was a massive assumption that children would behave if you simply planned lessons correctly, if you allowed them to do lots of independent work, project work, group work and so on, and that these teaching methods would create great behaviour” he told The Telegraph.
“I think that the failure of these methods to automatically create great behaviour has resulted in a lot of people in the education system pretending behaviour wasn’t an issue.”
Traditional teaching methods include “direct instruction”, where a teacher stands at the front of the class and presents information, drilling, where pupils repeat words or phrases after the teacher, and memorisation.
But these methods have been phased out in favour of the progressive “child-centred” learning methods, where the emphasis is on keeping students interested by allowing them to learn from each other rather than exclusively taking instruction from the teacher.
This approach may involve asking students to work together in small groups, discuss issues among themselves and express their opinion. Child-centred methods have also been characterised as allowing pupils to proceed at their own pace and make discoveries independent of the teacher.
“Progressivism rests on the idea that children want to behave and they want to learn, the teacher needs to step back and allow the child to explore their natural curiosity, which will motivate them and keep them engaged,” Mr Bennett said.
But this relies on an “overly optimistic view” of human nature that “fails to take into account the difficulties some children face”, he said.
While this approach may work well for middle class children, the same cannot be said for their peers from more disadvantaged households who may have not been taught how to behave by their parents, Mr Bennett explained.
“Some children come to school with loads of social skills, they’ve been taken to museums, taught how to shake someone’s hand and say hello,” he said.
“But if you are used to shouting out to be heard, no one has ever taught you how to wait your turn or share, you’re not going to change suddenly in a classroom. You wouldn’t think that is wrong, you would think that is normal.”
He said that these children need “support, they need really clear boundaries, and they need to be taught good behaviour too”.
Trying to use progressive teaching techniques for all children, regardless of their background, is a “very good way to maximising misbehaviour”, he said.
Earlier this month, the Department for Education (DfE) launched a new taskforce aimed at tackling bad behaviour in schools.
The move comes against a backdrop of rising concern about classroom disruption, with a third of state schools marked as having poor behaviour, according to Ofsted inspection reports.
Persistent disruptive behaviour is the most common reason for permanent exclusions in state schools, accounting for over a third (35.7 per cent) of all permanent exclusions in 2016/17.
The £10 million crackdown, led by Mr Bennett, will focus on advising schools how to improve issues such as pupil attendance and punctuality and detention systems.”

Facebook Shuts Down Pro-Populist Italian Pages Before EU Elections (breitbart, May 13, 2019)

“Facebook has shut down 23 major populist Italian pages with 2.5 million followers just two weeks before the European elections.
According to Italian media, the majority of the pages supported the populist parties La Lega (The League) and the 5-Star Movement (M5S) — who currently govern Italy in a temporary coalition.
Facebook has justified its dramatic move by claiming that the sites shared fake news, so-called “hate speech”, and “divisive content” regarding immigrants, vaccines, and Jewish people.
Facebook used information from a report produced by a left-progressive NGO called Avaaz, which deals with “human rights” and environmental campaigns.
“We thank Avaaz for sharing its research so we could investigate,” said a Facebook spokesperson. “We are committed to protecting the integrity of the EU elections and around the world. We have removed a series of false and duplicate accounts that violated our policies on the subject of authenticity, as well as several pages for violation of the policy on changing the name.”
“We have also taken action against some pages that have repeatedly spread misinformation. We will take further measures if we find other violations,” the spokesperson warned.
In its report, which was presented to Facebook on May 3, Avaaz said it had identified 14 Italian networks on Facebook comprising 104 pages and six groups, with a total reach of 18.2 million followers.
This week, Facebook took punitive action against 23 pages in these networks, with a total of 2.46 million followers and 2.44 million interactions over the last three months.
Facebook has also reportedly “weakened” pages that spread content with allegedly false news, presumably making them less visible to Facebook users.
The technical motivation for the closing of the pages is linked to name changes: it is claimed they initially suggested themes that did not seem to allude to political parties or movements, but later changed the theme.
Among the closed pages are “We want the 5-star Movement in government”, which had 129,000 followers and almost 700,000 interactions in three months, “Beppe Grillo for President”, “Lega Salvini Sulmona” — which had 307,000 followers” — “Lega Salvini Premier Santa Teresa of Riva”, and “We Are 5 Stars.”
The most active page in support of the Lega party was among those closed, just as polls are showing that the Lega is currently the party with the most support among Italians for the upcoming elections.
Facebook’s efforts in Italy to influence the European elections are just the tip of the iceberg, Italian media noted.
According to the Italian daily La Repubblica, on May 2 Facebook opened a “war room” in Dublin devoted full time to the European electoral campaign, with 40 teams of engineers, scientists, researchers, threat specialists, and experts for each country.
There are 500 people working on the elections, with the assistance of 21 supposed “fact-checkers,” operating in 14 different languages.”

“Yair Netanyahu, the son of Israel’s prime minister, slammed Germany for what he said was its hypocrisy in saying it stands “shoulder to shoulder with Israel” while shelling out millions of euros in aid to “radical left wing NGOs that seek its destruction.”
Germany’s foreign ministry, which recently celebrated Iran’s 1979 Islamic revolution, issued a statement on Saturday marking the 70th anniversary of Israel’s admittance to the UN. The statement said Germany’s “Federal Government would like to take this 70th anniversary as an opportunity to reiterate the fact that Germany stands at Israel’s side in the UN, too.”
Foreign Minister Heiko Maas was quoted as saying that Israel’s “security and right to exist must never be called into question by anyone anywhere.”
The top diplomat went on to say that Germany will always “act as a friend of Israel” and oppose “any unfair treatment of Israel in the UN.”
Yair Netanyahu took Maas to task over the statement, blasting Berlin’s funding of anti-Israel organizations.
“It will be nice if you stop interfering in our internal business and stop funding hundreds of radical left-wing NGOs in Israel that seek its destruction. Use the hundreds of millions of € you use for this to fund hospitals, schools and churches in Germany!” he tweeted.
An article in Germany’s most widely circulated newspaper Bild stated that “Yair said aloud what many in the Israeli government think” about Germany’s funding of NGOs that seek to “defame” the Jewish state.
“The fact is that funds from the EU and Germany are being used by organizations that not only criticize Israel, but also defame the Jewish state, are affiliated with the anti-Semitic boycott campaign (BDS) or even partially support terrorist propaganda,” the report said.
The Bild article went on to quote a recent report by Israel’s Strategic Affairs Ministry that said that Germany and other European nations are funding BDS groups with clear links to terrorist organizations including Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).
The paper also noted that EU monies funneled to the Palestinian Authority were finding their way to pension funds for terrorists.
One example in the Strategic Affairs report, titled “Terrorists in Suits,” cites the Ramallah-based Palestinian human rights NGO Al-Haq as being led by Shawan Jabarin, a PFLP terrorist who spent three years in prison. Al-Haq, which promotes boycotts against Israel and which also provided the background material for the since-discredited Goldstone Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict at the UN, is funded by the World Peace Service, a German governmental agency.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has also been the target of hypocrisy charges for declaring on the one hand that ensuring Israel’s security is “non-negotiable” while at the same time her administration voted in favor of 16 anti-Israel resolutions at the UN.
Following rocket fire into central Israel in March that prompted an IDF retaliation, Germany’s UN ambassador Christoff Heusgen compared Israel to Gaza-ruling terror group Hamas at the United Nations Security Council, finding a moral equivalency between “Hamas rocket terrorism with the demolition of houses without a building permit,” an article in Bild said, in reference to Israel’s policy against illegal construction by both Palestinians and Israelis.
A month prior, Germany’s foreign minister sent delegates to Iran’s Embassy in Berlin to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
According to the Jerusalem Post, German Jews accused Maas of “failing to internalize the lesson of the Holocaust with his robust support of Iran’s regime.””

Richard: I find it interesting that last week there was an Iranian Tanker damaged in the Red Sea by apparent sabotage and now two Saudi Tankers on the other side of the Arabian Peninsula have been sabotaged. Is the proxy war between Iran and Saudi starting to include semi direct action against each other.
It is also interesting that this is happening at the same time that Kim starts taunting the US by launching missiles, missiles that have to have been paid for by either China and Russia (Kim just got back from Russia).

TWO Saudi oil tankers were hit by a “sabotage attack” off the United Arab Emirates, it was announced this morning – as tensions flare between the US and Iran.
The ships were struck off the coast of the port of Fujairah – with one of the tankers due to be loaded with Saudi crude oil bound for the United States.

On Sunday 12 May, reports emerged that four commercial ships (all oil tankers) had suffered damage near the port of Fujairah on the UAE’s East coast, which faces the Gulf of Oman just south of the Strait of Hormuz.
A few hours before these reports (about 7:30 AM local time in Fujairah, or 4:30 AM GMT/UTC), there were unconfirmed reports of explosions in Fujairah’s Gulf Petroleum Oil Terminal’s shore facilities. These reports, according to some Twitter users (one citing a critical treatment by The National), were observed coming originally from Hezbollah and Iranian sources. For the purposes of this report, I stress that that latter detail is unconfirmed (although it may be true).

Richard: Interesting to say the least, she is accepting the fact that 4 (possibly 5) oil tankers were damaged as they waited to load their cargo. So far there is no report on what damage was done but the movie The Silent Enemy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHZmtkJwZM0) about the war between the Italian and British divers in WWII will give the people interested ideas of what may have happened. I am sure the “mines” that were used then have been improved and and both smaller and capable of doing more damage. An explosive device near the propeller shaft that would crack the seals and flood the engine room fits the description of the damage reported on the Iranian ship.
Memory served me wrong it was roughly two weeks since the Iranian ship was damaged, what is interesting is that in both cases the most likely scenario is sabotage.
If one or both incidents were sabotage by enemy agents or if they were caused by divers planting explosives on or near the propeller shaft or the rudder this means there has been and escalation of the proxy war between Saudi and Iran. The escalation of the war (if this has happened) was apparently done by the Saudi’s. This raises some interesting possibilities on why Saudi would raise the stakes in the war, primarily do they think Iran is poised to collapse and they are increasing the pressure to accelerate the collapse.

Saudi oil tankers hit by ‘sabotage attacks’ as Gulf tensions soar
iyadh (AFP) – Saudi Arabia said Monday two of its oil tankers were damaged in “sabotage attacks” in the Gulf as tensions soared in a region already shaken by a standoff between the United States and Iran.
It came as US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo scrapped a planned visit to Moscow to head to Brussels instead for talks with European officials on Iran.
Tehran called for an investigation into the “alarming” attacks and warned of “adventurism” by foreign players to disrupt maritime security.
The United States has already strengthened its military presence in the region, including deploying a number of strategic B-52 bombers in response to alleged Iranian threats.
Saudi Arabia, the Islamic republic’s regional arch-rival, condemned “the acts of sabotage which targeted commercial and civilian vessels near the territorial waters of the United Arab Emirates,” a foreign ministry source said.

Men in Iran have been ordered not to look at women during Ramadan as part of a round of draconian restrictions imposed by the increasingly isolated regime.
In a sign of frustration with growing civil discontent and economic pain caused by US sanctions, hardliners in Iran’s government are forcing through unusually strict social diktats to bring people into line.
The country’s judiciary has announced that those eating in public during the fasting period are also in breach of laws and will be prosecuted.
“My personal advice to women is to respect the hijab even more than before and gentlemen must avoid looking directly at female passersby,” Gholam- Hossein Esmaili, a judiciary spokesperson said.
“Anyone ignoring these instructions during the Ramadan will be committing an offence and should expect some punishment from the law enforcement units.”

“Malaysian police said Monday they have detained four men who were planning to assassinate “‘high-profile targets” and bomb places of worship and entertainment centers during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
National police chief Abdul Hamid Bador said a 34-year-old Malaysian who was the alleged mastermind, an Indonesian and two ethnic Rohingya Muslims were caught in raids last week. Police also seized a pistol and six homemade explosives.
He said they were members of a small cell allied with the Islamic State group and wanted to avenge a Muslim firefighter who died during riots over the relocation of an Indian temple last November. He said they had planned to attack entertainment outlets and churches, Hindu and Buddhist temples around Kuala Lumpur during the first week of Ramadan when Muslims fast from dawn to dusk.
He declined to name the suspects but said they had accused the alleged targets of insulting Islam or failing to defend Muslim rights.
Abdul Hamid said one of the Rohingya, a 20-year-old waiter, is registered with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees and a supporter of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army insurgent group. He said the waiter was also planning to attack the Myanmar Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
Myanmar’s military launched a brutal campaign against Rohingya in the western state of Rakhine in response to attacks by the insurgent group on security outposts in August 2017. More than 700,000 Rohingya fled to Bangladesh and elsewhere.
Police are looking for two other Malaysians and an Indonesian who are part of the cell, Abdul Hamid added.
Malaysia has been battling to curb the influence of militant cells aligned with the Islamic State group. SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – Amazon.com Inc is rolling out machines to automate a job held by thousands of its workers: boxing up customer orders.
The company started adding technology to a handful of warehouses in recent years, which scans goods coming down a conveyor belt and envelopes them seconds later in boxes custom-built for each item, two people who worked on the project told Reuters.
Amazon has considered installing two machines at dozens more warehouses, removing at least 24 roles at each one, these people said. These facilities typically employ more than 2,000 people.
That would amount to more than 1,300 cuts across 55 U.S. fulfillment centers for standard-sized inventory. Amazon would expect to recover the costs in under two years, at $1 million per machine plus operational expenses, they said.
The plan, previously unreported, shows how Amazon is pushing to reduce labor and boost profits as automation of the most common warehouse task – picking up an item – is still beyond its reach. The changes are not finalized because vetting technology before a major deployment can take a long time.

Connecticut man faces up to 140 years in prison for threatening to kill Trump, others

May 12 (Reuters) – A Connecticut man has been indicted after prosecutors say he threatened to kill U.S. President Donald Trump and sent others bomb threats and mail containing suspicious white powder, according to court documents.
Gary Gravelle, 51, was indicted on 16 counts, including that he threatened the president in September 2018 by sending an envelope containing white powder and the handwritten message “You Die.”
He sent similar envelopes to a synagogue, a mosque and a chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), according to the indictment.
The note claimed the power was a biotoxin but it was found to be harmless, officials said.
Gravelle also sent emails and made phone calls threatening to detonate bombs in Vermont, Washington and at various locations in Connecticut, including government buildings and a mental health facility.
If convicted of all 16 counts, he could face a maximum prison sentence of 140 years.
Gravelle was previously sentenced in 2013 for sending threatening communications and had been released under federal supervision until his arrest on the new charges last year, according to U.S. Attorney John Durham’s statement on Friday.

Vietnam intensifies crackdown on online dissent: Amnesty report
HANOI (Reuters) – Vietnam has stepped up its imprisonment of political activists, Amnesty International said in a report on Monday, intensifying a crackdown that has seen the number of prisoners of conscience increase by almost a third since last year.
Nearly 10% of the 128 prisoners held in the Southeast Asian country for expressing dissenting views were jailed for posting anti-state comments on social media platforms such as Facebook, the report said.
Amnesty defines prisoners of conscience as people who have not used or advocated violence but have been imprisoned because of their identify or beliefs.
“In the past year, the Vietnamese authorities have made a clear effort to clamp down on social media,” Nguyen Truong Son, Amnesty’s Vietnam Campaigner, told Reuters.
“They have realized that Facebook was one of the last safe spaces where people could peacefully speak their mind, spread news, hold debates – everything the authorities are afraid of,” Son said.

The Obama White House kept tabs on a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for information on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s email accounts that the State Department improperly denied, according to newly released emails.
The emails, which were provided to Judicial Watch, show for the first time that the Obama White House was aware of the Clinton-related FOIA request, which the liberal watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) submitted to the State Department in December 2012.
The State Department denied the request in May 2013, claiming that no responsive records existed. That despite officials at the State Department, the White House and even President Obama himself knowing that Clinton used a personal email account for government business.

Again addressing people in the West who say they are tolerant, Doureihi said: “Pick a side. You either love me as a Muslim or you hate because I believe in Islam.”

“There are hundreds of rioters, police and army are just watching. They have burnt our mosques and smashed many shops owned by Muslims,” a resident of Kottampitiya area told Reuters by telephone, asking not to be identified for fear of reprisals.
“When we try to come out of our house, police tell us to stay inside.”
Police imposed a nationwide curfew until from 9 p.m. (1530 GMT) to 4 a.m., spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said.
Authorities also imposed a temporary ban on social media networks and messaging apps including WhatsApp after a clash in another part of the country was traced to a dispute on Facebook.
A police source said police had fired tear gas to disperse mobs in some places in North Western Province.
Muslims make up nearly 10 percent of Sri Lanka’s 22 million people who are predominantly Sinhalese Buddhists.
A Reuters reporter saw a mob of several dozen young Sinhalese men wielding sticks and rods in what appeared to be a standoff in the town of Madulla in North Western Province.
Many anxious Muslims were hunkering down at home but young men, some of them carrying rods, were still zipping around on motorbikes, despite regional curfews from 2 p.m. before the nationwide curfew was imposed.
MOSQUE RANSACKED
Glass was strewn across the Abrar mosque in the town of Kiniyama that was attacked overnight. All the windows and doors of the soft-pink building were smashed and copies of the Koran were thrown onto the floor.
A mosque official said the attacks were triggered when several people, including some Buddhist monks, demanded a search of the main building after soldiers had inspected a 105-acre (43-hectare) lake nearby.
Authorities suspect lakes and wells are being used as hiding places to conceal weapons.
A 34-year-old man who was at the mosque said about 150-200 came towards the mosque with rods and swords on Sunday but the Muslims who were in the mosque persuaded them to go away with the help of the police.
But they came back and this time there were about 1,300 people. The Muslims, huddled in the mosque, asked the police to fire in the air to disperse the mob, but the police said the people wanted to inspect the mosque for weapons.
Then the crowd surged into the mosque and ransacked it, the witness said.
“They destroyed and burned Korans, broke every glass window and door and urinated on the water storage which Muslims used to take ablution,” he said.
Police spokesman Gunasekera did not respond to a request for comment on the incident. But in an emailed statement he said there had been some damage to property in Hettipola area of Kurunegala district but no injuries reported.
The police source said police also fired in the air the Hettipola area.
Several dozen people threw stones at mosques and Muslim-owned stores and a man was beaten in the Christian-majority town of Chilaw on the west coast on Sunday in the dispute that started on Facebook, police sources and residents told Reuters.
Authorities said they arrested the author of a Facebook post, identified as 38-year-old Abdul Hameed Mohamed Hasmar, whose online comment “1 day u will cry” people said was interpreted as threatening violence.
“Social media blocked again as a temporary measure to maintain peace in the country,” Nalaka Kaluwewa, director general of the government information department, told Reuters on Monday.”

San Francisco police raided the home and office of a freelance journalist on Friday, taking a sledgehammer to the gate of his house and seizing his computers, phones and other devices.
Their goal: to uncover the source of a leaked police report in the possession of freelance videographer Bryan Carmody.
The raids on Carmody’s home and office are the latest in a series of events concerning the death of San Francisco public defender Jeff Adachi in February, at age 59.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) on Sunday said that Republicans are trying to “ignite vile attacks” against her over a podcast interview where she made comments about the Holocaust and voiced her support for a one-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
“Policing my words, twisting & turning them to ignite vile attacks on me will not work,” Tlaib tweeted.

Vile: US Rep @RashidaTlaib pretends Palestinians helped Jews after the Holocaust

Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib said she “loves the fact” that her “Palestinian ancestors” were part an attempt “to create a safe haven for Jews” after the Holocaust, although the role “was forced on them” and took place “in a way that took their human dignity away.”
Tlaib referred to the recent commemoration of Holocaust Remembrance Day when asked about her decision to support a one-state solution, becoming the only Democratic member of Congress to buck her party’s position in favor of two states.
“There’s always kind of a calming feeling when I think of the tragedy of the Holocaust, that it was my ancestors — Palestinians — who lost their land and some lost their lives, their livelihood, their human dignity, their existence, in many ways, has been wiped out … in the name of trying to create a safe haven for Jews, post-Holocaust, post-tragedy and the horrific persecution of Jews across the world at that time. And I love the fact that it was my ancestors that provided that in many ways,” said Tlaib.
Let’s be clear: Palestinian Arabs were complicit in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Jews, at the very least.
If it wasn’t for their rioting against Jewish immigration during British rule, the British wouldn’t have limited that immigration in in 1930 and then drastically reduced in in 1939, right when European Jews needed it the most.
Moreover, the Mufti of Jerusalem was a notorious antisemite who colluded with the Nazis and tried to ethnically cleanse Jews from Palestine – and yet remains a Palestinian hero today.
Uncountable numbers of Jewish men, women and children could have been safe and alive instead of gassed and burned by the Nazis if it wasn’t for the actions of the Arabs of Palestine.
After the Holocaust, the main people who were responsible for “horrific persecution of Jews across the world at that time” were Tlaib’s fellow Arabs, both in Palestine and throughout the rest of the Arab world.
Tlaib’s words go beyond mere whitewashing these historic facts. She is not only claiming that Palestinians deserve credit for helping Jews after the Holocaust. She is also saying that Palestinians were Holocaust victims themselves, by giving up “their lives, their livelihood, their human dignity, their existence” for Jews to have a place to go.
This is simply obscene from anyone, let alone a member of Congress.

Emails released to Judicial Watch show for the first time that the Obama White House kept tabs on a FOIA request for information on Hillary Clinton’s emails that was improperly rejected by the State Department.
The State Department claimed in May 2013 in response to the FOIA request that no responsive records existed. The agency’s internal watchdog later determined that denial to be ‘inaccurate and incomplete’ since Clinton used a personal email account to conduct State Department business.
“These documents suggest the Obama White House knew about the Clinton email lies being told to the public at least as early as December 2012,” says Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton.
The Obama White House kept tabs on a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for information on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s email accounts that the State Department improperly denied, according to newly released emails.
The emails, which were provided to Judicial Watch, show for the first time that the Obama White House was aware of the Clinton-related FOIA request, which the liberal watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) submitted to the State Department in December 2012.

Facebook has shut down 23 major populist Italian pages with 2.5 million followers just two weeks before the European elections.
According to Italian media, the majority of the pages supported the populist parties La Lega (The League) and the 5-Star Movement (M5S) — who currently govern Italy in a temporary coalition.
Facebook has justified its dramatic move by claiming that the sites shared fake news, so-called “hate speech”, and “divisive content” regarding immigrants, vaccines, and Jewish people.
Facebook used information from a report produced by a left-progressive NGO called Avaaz, which deals with “human rights” and environmental campaigns.
“We thank Avaaz for sharing its research so we could investigate,” said a Facebook spokesperson. “We are committed to protecting the integrity of the EU elections and around the world. We have removed a series of false and duplicate accounts that violated our policies on the subject of authenticity, as well as several pages for violation of the policy on changing the name.”
“We have also taken action against some pages that have repeatedly spread misinformation. We will take further measures if we find other violations,” the spokesperson warned.
