The figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show the dramatic findings in which the population of the capital, currently standing at 9.1 million, will rise to over 10 million in 10 years time with the population reaching nearly 11 million by 2041. This would be a population increase in London alone of over three times the total population of Sheffield in just 22 years.
The population rise is, in part, due to high numbers of international migration to the city, with an estimated 172,000 international migrants arriving in the capital each year.
Other cities in England, too, face large population growth due to immigration, with Greater Manchester seeing an average of 22,000 international migrants arriving each year, Birmingham 13,000 and Liverpool 7,000 according to the government figures.
The population is due to rise sharply all across England, from 56.5 million this year to almost 64 million by 2041. This is largely due to an estimated average influx of over 450,000 international migrants every year, roughly the population of Cardiff, with a net annual migration of over 200,000.

Professor of Urban Economics and Social Statistics at the University of Sheffield, Gwilym Pryce, said the data left researchers “with the uncomfortable possibility” that the “white flight” trends they observed having taken place in the Scottish city could be partly driven by “anti-Pakistani or anti-Muslim sentiment”.
Using property registration data for 40 per cent of the most deprived areas of Glasgow, the study noted the names of both buyers and sellers in every property purchase between 2003 and 2014 in order to look at the impact that inflows of “ethnically ‘other’ name-group” homeowners had on home buying in the local areas.
“The most consistent finding”, reported the paper, was that an influx of “in-moving purchasers with Pakistani (primarily Muslim) names… tend to have a relatively large accelerant effect on the moving propensity of homeowners who have white British names.”
Every household with “‘non-white other’ names, which were predominantly Muslim” who moved within 55 yards caused the average length of stay for homeowners with white British names to halve, according to the research.
Pryce noted “neighbourhood churn” — or the fact that “when people move into your neighbourhood, it usually means others are moving out” — likely contributed to the effect, however, he added that homeowners with white British names were more likely to leave a neighbourhood if the people coming in had Pakistani or Muslim names.
Writing in a piece published by The Conversation on Monday, he said that while he and the study’s co-author, Sue Easton, “can’t say for sure that those homeowners with white British names who chose to move did so because of anti-Pakistani or anti-Muslim sentiment,” their data “nevertheless suggests house moves in Glasgow may be partly driven by latent aversion to having neighbours with Pakistani or Muslim names”.

The interior ministry said some 90 properties across Germany associated with an “Islamist network” were searched on Wednesday. It said the network was headed by two groups based in the western state of North Rhine-Westphalia, WWR Help and Ansaar International.
The ministry said there are indications that the network provided financial and propaganda support to Hamas, a longtime enemy of Israel that runs the Gaza Strip and was listed as a terror group by the European Union in 2001.

German police raid Islamic organizations over suspected Hamas support
BERLIN (Reuters) – German police on Wednesday raided offices belonging to Islamic organizations suspected of financing the Palestinian militant group Hamas, which is on the European Union’s terrorism blacklist, the interior ministry said.
The ministry said the main targets of the raids were WorldWide Resistance-Help and Ansaar International which are believed to have collected funds for Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, under the guise of humanitarian aid.
The organizations say on their websites that they collect donations for people in Gaza, Somalia, Syria and other countries.
“Whoever supports Hamas under the guise of humanitarian aid disregards fundamental values of our constitution and discredits the commitment of many aid organizations,” Interior Minister Horst Seehofer said in a statement.
The ministry said the two organizations also supported Hamas through propaganda campaigns.
More than 2 million Palestinians are packed into the narrow coastal enclave. Israel withdrew its troops and settlers from Gaza in 2005 but maintains tight control of its land and sea borders. Egypt also restricts movement in and out of Gaza on its border.

The receipt — written in Chinese — could weaken the government’s main allegation in a criminal complaint against Zhang, namely that she lied to federal agents about why she was trying to enter the president’s club, because it shows she may have had a legitimate reason to be there.

During an explosive press conference, which is still underway, Hrafnsson alleges that the operation was designed to get Assange extradited. WikiLeaks claims that it was told that Assange’s extradition was imminent.

UK: Wikileaks claims discovery of ‘extensive spying operation’ against Assange
Wikileaks said it has discovered a spying operation against Wikileaks founder Julian Assange inside the Ecuadorian embassy in London and that images, documents and videos that were collected were then offered for sale in an extortion attempt, during a press conference in London on Wednesday.

Putin outlines ambitious Arctic expansion program

2 bodies found in Dominican Republic matching description of missing N.Y. couple
Police in the Dominican Republic may be one step closer toward solving the disappearance of a couple from New York. During Tuesday’s press conference, a police spokesperson announced two bodies had been found matching the couple’s description.

Something told me Pete Buttigieg, mayor of South Bend, Indiana, was going to be a flash in the pan. I won’t say 100% that it was seeing James Joyce’s Ulysses at the top of his “favorite books” reading list, but I do think that had something to do with it.
For a brief moment a week or so ago, pundits were touting Buttigieg hopefully as a (maybe even the) “moderate,” of-the-moment, third-way Democrat: the one the Democrats, and perhaps the general voting public, were looking for. He has a nice-guy affect. On political matters, he hasn’t been a flame-thrower. If he’s more of a “me too” type pol on those political matters, not really disavowing the Democrats’ hard swerve to the left but not jackhammering its themes either (as everyone else seems to be doing) – well, in some ways that kind of makes him more like a RINO Republican. Pasteurized, homogenized, and harmless.

My view, wrong or right, has been that Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism and Buddhism, are NOT ideologies but true religions and any political power that they wield is only because they have developed churches and seats of power who can then influence the secular rulers via threat of excommunication or corruption etc.. None of them have a built in political structure from the start. Certainly the RC church did try but there was always secular law and aristocratic power groups there first and they failed. But islam was an arm of power right from the start and any claims to a pure religion disappeared when mo justified violence. Written by French investigative reporters Georges Malbrunot and Christian Chesnot, the book publishes evidence of cheque and money transfers from Qatar that have been used to underwrite Brotherhood-linked projects around Europe.

In France, the focus was on the northern city of Lille and the south-west city of Bordeaux. The documents reveal that a state-run Qatar charity funded several Islamic centers and schools in those regions.
It also shed light on the case of controversial Islamist thinker Tariq Ramadan, mentioning Qatari funds used for legal fees to fight rape allegations against him. The well-known Brotherhood figure, who spent eight months in jail over rape allegations, is cited in the book to have received €35,000 a month from the Qatar Foundation.
Just before his arrest early last year, bank documents show that Ramadan withdrew €590,000 from Qatari bank accounts.
The book also reveals that institutions such as Mucivi and Le Musée des Civilisations de l’Islam — a museum in Geneva that displays Brotherhood propaganda — were financed by Qatar. It said the body has received CHF1.4 million ($1.5 million) in funding from Qatar.
The book also cites documents found in the house of Youssef Nada, a former prominent Brotherhood leader, revealing his intention to set out a strategy for using mayors and other local bodies as tools of influence to promote the group’s ideology.
The book also highlighted French intelligence warnings about Qatari support for the L’Union des Organisations Islamiques de France, an umbrella body in France.

Bankrolling Islamism in Europe

In October, Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini visited Qatar, the “energy giant”, where he praised the emirate for “not sponsoring extremism anymore”. Unfortunately, the opposite is true. Qatar, “the other Wahhabi state”, apparently is interested not only in its economic relationship with Europe, but also in exporting its brand of political Islam.
According to a new book, Qatar Papers: How the Emirate Finances Islam in France and Europe, by two French journalists, Christian Chesnot and Georges Malbrunot, Qatar has distributed 22 million euros to Islamic projects in Italy alone. This funding has had virtually a single beneficiary: the Union of Islamic Communities and Organizations in Italy (UCOII), accused of closeness to Qatar’s pet organization, the Muslim Brotherhood, the mouthpiece of which is Qatar’s media outlet, Al Jazeera, located in the capital city of Doha.
“Qatar is today a leading funder of Islam in Europe,” Malbrunot said in an interview. His book, an important exposé of the Islamist penetration into Europe, notes that Qatar has funded 140 mosques and Islamic centers in Europe to the tune of €71 million. The country with the most of the projects (50) was Italy, where Rome’s Al Houda Centre received €4 million.
A grandson of Muslim Brotherhood founder Hasan al-Banna, Tariq Ramadan, whom several women have accused of rape and sexual abuse, has received €35,000 per month from the Qatar for being a “consultant”. The Muslim Cultural Complex of Lausanne, Switzerland, received $1.6 million. Qatar, in 2015, donated a new £11 million building at Oxford’s St Antony’s College, where Ramadan is a professor.
Qatar has also been extremely active in France. The emirate, according to the book, financed the Islamic Center of Villeneuve-d’Ascq and the Lycée-Collège Averroès, France’s first state-funded Muslim faith school. Lycée-Collège Averroès became the center of a scandal when one of its teachers resigned after writing that the school was “a hotbed of anti-Semitism and ‘promoting Islamism’ to pupils”.
Qatar has also financed other mosques in France. The Great Mosque of Poitiers, for instance, sits in the vicinity of the site of the Battle of Tours (also known as the Battle of Poitiers), where Charles Martel, ruler of the Franks, stopped the advancing Muslim army of Abdul al-Rahman in the year 732. The Assalam mosque in Nantes and the Grand Mosque of Paris are other examples.
In their previous book, “Nos très chers émirs” (“Our Very Dear Emirs”), Chesnot and Malbrunot exposed the close relationship that exists between the French political establishment and the Qatari monarchy. Among Qatar’s beneficiaries were the European Institute of Human Sciences — an Islamic facility close to the French branch of the Muslim Brotherhood — that offers courses in Islamic theology.
Among the Islamists described in the book is the Doha-based cleric, Yusuf al Qaradawi, who condoned suicide bombings during the Second Intifada; endorsed a fatwa for killing Americans in Iraq and encouraged Muslims to travel abroad to fight in civil wars in Syria and Libya. Qaradawi also called for the “conquest of Rome” and announced on Egyptian television in 2013 that without death as a punishment for leaving the religion (apostasy), “Islam wouldn’t exist today”.

The newspaper L’Opinione delle Libertà quotes Sbai calling Qatar “a wolf in sheep’s clothing”.
Elzir Izzedin, the imam of Florence and president of UCOII, admitted three years ago: “25 million euros arrived from Qatar”.
Qatar was also behind the founding of an Islamic university for 5,000 students in the small southern Italian town of Lecce.
Also two years ago, with an investment of over 2.3 million euros, Qatar was carrying out important Islamic projects in Italy’s southern island, Sicily, where Qatar apparently supports about a quarter of the mosques.
According to the president of the Middle East Forum, Daniel Pipes, “Doha does not rely only on the Islamist diaspora in the West to advance its agenda; it also works to influence Western policymakers and the public directly”:

“Doha also seeks to influence Western educational institutions. The regime-controlled Qatar Foundation hands tens of millions of dollars to schools, colleges and other educational institutions across Europe and North America. Indeed, Qatar is now the largest foreign donor to American universities. Its funds pay for the teaching of Arabic and lessons on Middle Eastern culture and their ideological bent is at times unashamedly apparent, as in the lesson plan in American schools titled, ‘Express Your Loyalty to Qatar.'”
Italy’s largest newspaper, Il Corriere della Sera, described the Qatari activism in the country:
“On May 24th, Sheikh Prince Hamad Bin Nasser Al Thani, a member of the Qatari royal family, was in Piacenza, where he inaugurated the new Islamic center alongside the main city authorities; the same day he moved to Brescia, to cut the ribbon of the enlargement of the local mosque. Two days later and a smiling prince Al Thani reappeared in Mirandola, in the province of Modena, for the inauguration of the new Muslim prayer center, damaged by the 2012 earthquake and put up as new, unlike the local parish church. On May 28, the sheikh was immortalized in Vicenza, again for the opening of an Islamic center. On June 5, another ribbon-cutting ceremony, this time of a complex for prayer and a Koranic school in Saronno (Varese), even flanked by the episcopal vicar”.
An analyst at the Spanish Institute of Strategic Studies of the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Emilio Sánchez de Rojas, charged both Qatar and Saudi Arabia with “campaigns of influence in the West”. Qatar has been funding mega-mosques across Europe. Qatar’s goal is apparently to Islamicize the European diaspora.
As the German MP and Middle East expert, Rolf Mützenich, said in 2016:
“For quite some time we’ve had indications and evidence that German Salafists are getting assistance, which is approved by the governments of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait, in the form of money, the sending of imams and the building of Koran schools and mosques.”
The Economist has also focused on Qatar’s takeover of Europe’s mosques.
In 2014 the US Treasury Department not only singled out Qatar as a source of funds for al-Qaeda; it seems that Doha has also been, with a few suspensions, a primary supporter of Hamas, the Palestinian terrorist organization that is pursuing the destruction of the State of Israel. During the “Arab Spring” in 2011, Qatar, which, through Al Jazeera, has been credited for its role in “participating in creating the environment for the Arab Spring,” supported the Islamists, presumably to replace secular dictators in Tunisia, Libya and Egypt.
Qatar has also been accused of funding the Islamic State (ISIS). General Jonathan Shaw, a former Assistant Chief of Defence Staff in Britain, declared that Qatar and Saudi Arabia are responsible for spread of radical Islam. “This is a time bomb that, under the guise of education, Wahhabi Salafism is igniting under the world really. And it is funded by Saudi and Qatari money and that must stop”, said Gen Shaw.
As Qatar’s ideological spending spree in the West races ahead, many Europeans, still seemingly lost behind a willful blindness, pursue their futile accusations of “hate speech”, “racism” and “Islamophobia”, while radical Muslims infiltrate their democracies and continue to encircle them.

How Qatar infiltrated The New York Times
Last weekend, Israel was attacked in a new way. No, I’m not referring to the horrific onslaught of rockets Hamas launched into Israel that left two children hospitalized and five others injured; the tens of thousands of rioters who tried to breach the Gaza border fence; or the three Palestinian youths who were killed.
I’m talking about an outlandish article published in The New York Times Magazine about the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement that evokes age-old anti-Semitic tropes to accuse prominent Jewish philanthropists, like Haim Saban, of holding the Democratic Party hostage on Israel – authored by a man with ties to one of the world’s biggest sponsors of terrorism.
Many rushed to shame the Times for welcoming writer Nathan Thrall’s “propaganda.” But it isn’t just the propaganda or anti-Semitism that should concern Jews everywhere – it’s Nathan Thrall himself and his alarming ties to Qatar. A deep dive by the Free Beacon revealed that Thrall is employed by an organization that receives funding from the Qatari government and has ties to several anti-Israel and anti-Semitic activists.
That’s right: The New York Times published an article written by someone connected to the Qatari payroll, who tars and feathers pro-Israel philanthropists, gives an international platform to the BDS movement, and devotes not a single of its 11,500 words to Qatar – the world’s central bank for terrorism and a known sponsor of Hamas.
This shouldn’t be shocking: Qatari efforts to influence American journalism have been growing rapidly in recent years, as the Gulf state pays hundreds of millions of dollars to buy influence and manipulate what and how the American press reports on issues in the Middle East.

With bureaus across the globe, broadcasts in several languages, multiple well-maintained, widely-followed and polished social media accounts and websites, investigative documentary film series, and even podcasts, Al Jazeera—and through it, the Qatari regime—has become a propaganda force with which to be reckoned.

Railing against Islamophobia, and anti-Trump, too
…Mehdi Hasan seems to be everywhere on TV these days. Reliably Trump-obsessed cable channels like CNN and MSNBC relish the opportunity to promote a foreign-born Muslim guest who, they believe, has the credibility to call the president and his supporters racists and white supremacists.
And Mr. Hasan, for his part, is relishing both the spotlight and the opportunity to make his case directly to an anti-Trump audience in the United States.
After spending the last several years claiming to be concerned about hostile countries interfering in American politics, though, it’s a bit jarring to see the employee of a state-run media outlet hostile to the United States appear so frequently on CNN and MSNBC.
By promoting Mr. Hasan, these cable news outlets are facilitating the insertion of foreign propaganda into the American political debate.
Mr. Hasan works for al Jazeera, the Qatari-owned media enterprise that advances the interests of the state and its royal family. When he speaks, he’s no less a government spokesman than Kellyanne Conway or Sarah Sanders.…
What these networks are doing is unwittingly participating in an information operation. Because CNN or MSNBC’s viewers agree with Mr. Hasan’s anti-Trump message, they’ll trust him on other issues as well.
Al Jazeera’s near-nightly presence on cable news represents an alarming example of how Qatar uses the infrastructure of American partisan politics and media to advance its interests, but it’s only one of many.…

…Qatar buying 100 more tanks from Turkey would indicate this overall situation isn’t going in a positive direction. At a minimum, Qatar is positioning herself to be indispensable to the plans of whichever regional actor becomes the big dog. Qatar has unparalleled real estate; becoming a pre-stocked military depot, available to the highest bidder, is a matter of making smart investments.
We’ll see if Iran gets outbid at some point. We’ll see if the Saudis follow through on that canal. (Assuming they do, they can construct it in such a way that it would take some mighty slick combat bridging equipment to get 64-ton MBTs across it.)

Protesters rallied against the recent US decision to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) as a terror organisation, in Kargil on Wednesday.
Demonstrators carried banners with slogans such as “we condemn USA [for] declaring IRGC terrorist org” and later on burned an effigy of US President Donald Trump.
On Monday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced the US decision to put Iran’s IRGC military forces, itself an official branch of the Iranian Armed Forces, on its list of terror groups.
“This is nothing but frustration of Donald Trump, frustration of America, frustration of the president of America,” said a protester.
Tehran responded to Washington’s decision by designating the US military as a terrorist organisation, according to Iranian state TV, as cited in media reports.
