Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We muse use it while we can.

  3. LETTER TO HEADMASTER ABOUT WIFI IN CLASSROOM
    includes video – 31 minutes
Dear Headmaster, I have been asked by Mrs F….. to present the cancer/health threat to the school from internal emf, and from external mobile phone masts in the form of a complaint. As the threat applies to all of us, from children, teachers and parents, this complaint will not be focused on any individual. I read the GDST (Girls Day School Trust) policy document on Wifi. It is a total disgrace making general statements with no evidence provided at all as to the safety of wifi or any technical details as to wavelengths, intensity, or known health effects except in the most general terms. It’s as if it was written by BT. As a trustee of GDST is Peter Oliver, the Managing Director for Marketing, Commercial and Digital for BT’s Consumer brand, is it surprising that GDST gives wifi a clean bill of health from all possible aspects. GDST is penetrated by the industry and, as regards this issue, is unfit for purpose. A board of trustees should not be there to represent the interests of corporations selling wifi, but look at the different ways technology can be delivered to the classroom safely. This has sadly clearly not been done at Shrewsbury High School Prep.

    • Two knifemen ‘washed their faces and feet’ at London mosque then mingled with worshippers and changed clothes to evade police after stabbing man to death in London’s 30th murder of 2019 (dailymail, mar 29, 2019)
      https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6862145/London-Central-Mosque-surrounded-armed-police-fatal-stabbing.html

“Two knifemen stabbed a man to death then ran into a mosque and ‘washed their hands and faces’ to blend in with worshippers, it emerged today.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was knifed to death yesterday evening, before his killers ran into London Central Mosque near Regent’s Park to get away.

The murder is the 30th killing in the capital this year and comes amid growing fears UK knife crime is out of control.

Witnesses in the mosque have said the assailants pretended to be members of the congregation arriving for prayers, but then changed clothes in a toilet and disappeared.

Police have said the incident is not terror-related and the killers are not linked to the mosque.

The victim, who was named locally as ‘Zahir’, is thought to have lived in a nearby estate.

A security guard at the mosque said the men, who were both white with long hair, washed their faces and feet to appear as if they were arriving for prayers.

He told The Evening Standard: ‘We saw in the camera them changing clothes in the toilet area, one of them had a backpack and one of them had a side bag.

‘They change from hoodies into shirts and trousers and throw the other clothes on the floor. The police have those.’

Police have not arrested any one over the attack, but raided flats in a nearby buildings today as the hunt the killers.

Met Police Commander Simon Rose said this morning: ‘A man has lost his life in violent circumstance and we are working to identify the perpetrators as quickly as possible.

‘We have been in close contact with the London Central Mosque since the incident happened. We thank them for their patience, cooperation and understanding.

‘Friday prayers will today be going ahead with little or no disruption. We do not believe the incident is connected to the mosque.

‘The incident is not believed to be terror-related. People can expect to see local officers out and about today and I would encourage anyone with worries or concerns to speak to them.’

Last night, witnesses claimed two people were seen running into the mosque and officers later cordoned it off, believing the suspects had tried to hide there.

Officers searching the area cordoned off the London Central Mosque for more than five hours, with armed police at the gates as a helicopter circled overhead.

The cordon was finally moved at about 11.30pm, with the roads reopened and armed officers leaving the scene. Police said the attack was not terror-related.

Witness Bahir Moulana said that as he was walking towards the mosque the police were pushing people back before they closed the main gate.

With a number of armed officers at the scene, the 39-year-old said it gave him the ‘jitters’, especially following the recent attack at two mosques in New Zealand.

‘I saw all the blue lights and my heart was in my mouth,’ Mr Moulana said.

With worshippers eventually let out of the building, he added: ‘There was one girl who said she saw two guys run in. Someone else told me the police were chasing them.’

Mr Moulana said he saw two people being detained and put in handcuffs by the police at the mosque. ‘The police just surrounded them. I saw that at around 7pm,’ he added.

At the scene on Cunningham Place, a large collection of used and discarded medical equipment, bloodied bandages, bags, and other items could be seen in the middle of the road.

One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: ‘I looked out of the window at around 6.30pm and I saw him on the floor… he was already getting CPR.’

She added that before the incident she heard someone saying ‘What happened? What have you done?’ before she then went to see what was going on.

Karen Buck, Labour MP for Westminster North, said: ‘Deeply saddened to hear this awful news. Police have been in contact with me and we await further details.’

A statement from the London Central Mosque shortly before 10.30pm yesterday said nobody there was hurt.

‘All staff and attendees to the Mosque are safe our prayers are with the victim and his family. We look forward to seeing you all at Friday prayers tomorrow In Sha Allah,’ it said.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: ‘Enquiries continue to trace the suspects, who fled the scene. There have been no arrests.

‘A crime scene is in place. Cordons include the nearby London Central Mosque. These cordons are likely to remain in place overnight.

‘Detectives are urging any witnesses to the incident or anyone with information that may assist the investigation to speak to police officers at the scene, call 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 anonymously.’

A section of the A41 Park Road was closed off by police. No arrests have been made.

Just a month ago police chiefs up and down the country declared Britain’s knife crime epidemic a ‘national emergency’ and demanded more funding to help combat it.

Some demanded a return to stop-and-search, which has in the past led to accusations of profiling.

Richard Cooke, chairman of the West Midlands Police Federation, called for emergency section 60 powers to be rolled out across the country.

Home Secretary Sajid Javid pleaded for more money to put millions of bobbies on the beat in a Cabinet intervention at the start of March.

He urged Prime Minister Theresa May – who was Home Secretary for six years – to sign off proposed new powers to make it easier for police to stop and search those suspected of carrying blades.”

The suspect was detained just after midday in the grounds of the iconic cathedral.

Witnesses reported that he appeared to be carrying a firearm.

A spokesman for the City of London Police, which patrols the square mile around the capital’s financial hub, said: “Following reports of an armed man at St Paul’s Cathedral, we can confirm we have arrested a man who we believe to be in possession of a firearm at 12.05pm today.

“He was detained behind One New Change by armed officers. There is no indication this incident is a terror related at this time.”

“A court in Slovenia has sentenced a right-wing politician to eight months in prison for organizing a self-style militia that was filmed posing with weapons like axes and rifles.

The court in the northeastern town of Maribor ruled Friday that Andrej Sisko incited subversion of constitutional order with his group.

  8. Pope seeks to build on Muslim outreach with Morocco trip (abcnews, Mar 29, 2019)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/pope-seeks-build-muslim-outreach-morocco-trip-62031347

“Pope Francis is forging ahead with promoting moderate Islam during a weekend trip to Morocco, seeking to build on warming ties with the Sunni world while also ministering to a tiny Catholic community and offering solidarity with migrants.

For the 82-year-old pope, the 27-hour, whirlwind visit to Rabat, the Moroccan capital, will be a welcome reboot to a year that has otherwise been dominated by the global Catholic clergy sex abuse scandal and the downfall of three of his cardinals.

The trip comes after Francis’ February visit to the United Arab Emirates, where the pope and the imam of Cairo’s Al Azhar, the seat of Sunni learning, signed a landmark joint statement establishing the relationship between Catholics and Muslims as brothers, with a common mission to promote peace.

The document, which Francis has been giving to visiting heads of state and which has been welcomed by Muslim intellectuals in Europe and the Mideast, is likely to feature in some of Francis’ remarks.

The highlight of the Morocco trip will be Francis’ visit Saturday to the Mohammed VI Institute, a school of learning for imams that epitomizes Morocco’s efforts to promote a moderate brand of Islam and export it via preachers to Africa, the Middle East and Europe.

Morocco, a Sunni Muslim kingdom of 36 million, reformed its religious policies and education to limit the spread of fundamentalism in 2004, following terrorist bombings in Casablanca in 2003 that killed 43 people.

The Mohammed VI Institute, named for the king, trains Moroccan imams, as well as those from sub-Saharan Africa, Tunisia, Libya and Europe.

“Morocco has taken it upon itself to become a patron of moderate Islam in both Africa and Europe,” said Abdellah Boussouf, secretary-general of the Council of the Moroccan Community Living Abroad.

The aim, he said, is to prevent Muslims in Europe and Africa from becoming victims of terrorism to “change the negative image Islam has” in Europe.

Francis had planned to deliver a greeting at the institute, which is located in the Madinat al’Irfane University campus district of Rabat. But a revised plan calls instead for two students and Morocco’s minister for religious affairs to take the floor, while the pope and king listen, Vatican spokesman Alessandro Gisotti said.

Youssef Aknoui, a graduate of the institute and a preacher at Rabat’s Ahli Fes Mosque, told The Associated Press the school stresses academics as well as the Moroccan tradition of Islam.

“The institute oriented us toward a more balanced, rationalized understanding of Islam,” he said. “We were trained in history and communication, all means to combat religious fundamentalism in our work now.”

That repudiation of religious fundamentalism runs throughout the “Human Fraternity” document Francis signed in Abu Dhabi with Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb, the grand imam of Al Azhar.

The document outlines a shared set of values and principles common to Christians and Muslims, focusing on the dignity of every person and a rejection of violence committed in God’s name.

“It has surprised us all, because this understanding of being part of a single human family means that Muslims and Catholics, from this document onwards, recognize and accept one another as brothers,” said Paola Pizzo, professor of contemporary history of Islamic countries at the University of Chieti-Pescara.

The document also calls for changes to laws that “prevent women from fully enjoying their rights.” Pizzo, who heads the Christian-Muslim relations department at Rome’s Sant’Egidio Community, said that requires “a maximum commitment in the Sunni world to promote the dignity of women.”

Some Catholic conservatives, meanwhile, have criticized the document’s statement that “God willed” a plurality of religions. For these critics of Francis, the claim relativizes the centrality of the Catholic faith in human salvation.

Francis will also visit a migrant center run by the Catholic Church’s Caritas charity organization in Morocco and attend a Mass on Sunday with Morocco’s largely expat Catholic community, which numbers about 23,000.

Morocco last year became the main departure point for sub-Saharan African migrants seeking to reach Europe via Spain, after Italy essentially closed its borders to migrants leaving from Libya.

The rising numbers of migrants have put pressures on the kingdom, and become a hot political issue in Spain ahead of that country’s April 28 general election.”

Caracas (AFP) – Walking for hours, making oil lamps, bearing water. For Venezuelans today, suffering under a new nationwide blackout that has lasted days, it’s like being thrown back to life centuries ago.

El Avila, a mountain that towers over Caracas, has become a place where families gather with buckets and jugs to fill up with water, wash dishes and scrub clothes. The taps in their homes are dry from lack of electricity to the city’s water pumps.

“We’re forced to get water from sources that obviously aren’t completely hygienic. But it’s enough for washing or doing the dishes,” said one resident, Manuel Almeida.

Because of the long lines of people, the activity can take hours of waiting.

Elsewhere, locals make use of cracked water pipes. But they still need to boil the water, or otherwise purify it.

  14. House intelligence representatives call for chairman Schiff’s resignation

    OAN Newsroom
    UPDATED 1:29 PM PT — Thursday, March 28, 2019

The Republican call was unanimous in an open hearing Thursday, when all nine of the Republican members of the House Intelligence Committee urged Democrat chairman Adam Schiff to step down. He is accused of being at the center of a well-orchestrated media campaign against the president.

Schiff introduced the hearing as an examination on how the Kremlin uses financial leverage and corruption as tools of intelligence operations and foreign policy. He initially turned the hearing over to opening comments from ranking member Devin Nunes, who wasted no time in pointing out Republicans’ previous efforts to address Russia.

Nunes said committee Republicans during the Obama administration warned both privately and publicly more resources and better intelligence were needed to counter Kremlin threats to national security.

“Our advice, however ,was not heeded — the Obama administration’s approach to Russia was characterized by misspelled ‘reset’ buttons,” he stated. “Direct promises of more flexibility after Obama’s reelection, the scrapping of our missile defense plans in Poland and the Czech Republic at Russia’s behest, and the ridicule of then-candidate Mitt Romney for identifying Russia as our primary geopolitical foe.”

  15. Washington frustrated, confused by Trump tweet reversing new North Korea sanctions
    By J.E. Dyer March 29, 2019

The last week has seen a classic Trump-vs.-bureaucracy-vs.-media situation. It perfectly illustrates the level of structural and communication dysfunction that prevails in the Washington, D.C. environment in 2019. It illustrates that this is not “Trump’s fault,” unless you interpret every decision by Trump to not to be handcuffed by Washington convention as a cardinal sin on his part. And it illustrates that he can derive benefit from the dysfunction, even as others flail.

The situation involves a new set of sanctions announced by the Treasury Department last Thursday, 21 March. The new measures target two Chinese shipping companies known to be enabling North Korea to import goods in violation of existing sanctions.

The new measures also update a 2018 shipping advisory with a list of ships involved in illicit at-sea transfers of prohibited cargo for North Korea, along with updated information on where the transfers are taking place and where the ships have been known to call before or after they transport such cargo.

  16. SPAIN – Mosque in Seville Spain demands apology from the King for the Reconquista

    =========================================================

Thousands of people gathered in Christchurch’s Hagley park on Friday to hold a memorial service in memory of those who were killed in the mosque shootings which occurred in the city two weeks before.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was in attendance, along with Christchurch Mayor Lianne Dalziel, members of the Christchurch Islamic community, and other officials. A survivor of the shootings also spoke to the crowd at the event.

One resident, Emma Gables, spoke about the need to the sentiments felt at the rally forward, saying:

“we don’t stop here, it’s not just about coming to a memorial event, showing your respect and then carrying on as you may have been before. I think it’s about change.”

  18. US Naval Institute Publishes Scenario of Possible Military Conflict With Turkey (sputniknews, Mar 29, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/us/201903291073659307-us-military-conflict-turkey/

“Relations between the US and Turkey, two NATO allies, have been spiralling downward of late, especially in light of a spat over Ankara’s acquisition of Russian S-400 defence systems threatening F-35s’ supplies to Turkey.

The US Naval Institute, one of the biggest professional military associations in the United States, employing a lot of former top military brass has published a suggested scenario of confrontation between American and Turkish fleets in the third edition of the book titled Fleet Tactics and Naval Operations. The book, released on 15 June 2018, has captured the attention of the Turkish newspaper Yeni Safak, which released a summary of the imaginative conflict described in its 15th chapter.

The book describes an alleged scenario where the Turkish Navy sinks Greek vessels carrying ballistic missiles to southern Cyprus, initiating a military conflict between the countries. According to it, Turkey would then conduct attacks on the islands of Limni, Lesbos, Chios, Samos, and Kos in the Aegean Sea. The two states engaging in the conflict are described as “sworn enemies”.

Further, according to the scenario described in the book, the sixth US fleet will intervene in the conflict in a bid to stop it, but does so by supporting Greece and acting against Turkish troops.

“The scenario, where the 6th US Navy fleet engages the Turkish Navy, shows the start of the conflict between Athens and Ankara and the US actions, which support Greece in this conflict”, the newspaper indicates.

Further on the scenario describes the USS Harry Truman and local US military vessels getting ready for a confrontation, while the US military deployed on the islands of Chios and Amorgos target the Turkish cities of Ayval?k, Izmir, Cesme, Kusadasi, and Bodrum for their attacks. At the same time, the American fleet is expected to engage the Turkish Navy to the north of the Crete.

While the book’s intro indicates that all scenarios and events in it are pure fiction and represent the personal opinion of the books’ authors, the Turkish newspaper indicates that those, who contributed to its contents, as well as the head of the US Naval Institute, are all former top US military officials. The author of the article believes that this fact makes one doubt the “fictional character” of the described scenarios and leads one to think that the book provides “hints” about Washington’s possible stance in the event a real conflict between Athens and Ankara erupts.

The aforementioned alleged conflict refers to ongoing tensions between Greece and Turkey in the Aegean Sea, caused by a conflict about Cyprus’s status, which has remained divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded the northern part of the island nation. These tensions have led to several maritime incidents near Cyprus and other disputed islands involving Greek and Turkish boats and military vessels.

Relations between the US and Turkey have also recently gone into a downward spiral since Turkey inked a deal to buy Russian S-400 air defence systems. Washington is worried that its radars will be able to learn about spotting the modern F-35 stealth jet, which was scheduled for shipment to Turkey. The US, since then, has threatened to freeze the fighter’s delivery to Turkey if it doesn’t drop the S-400 deal. https://sputniknews.com/asia/201903291073664021-us-made-weapon-in-kashmir-terrorist/

“Indian security forces killed two Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists of Pakistani origin in a gun battle in the north Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday morning.

New Delhi (Sputnik): Indian security agencies claim to have major evidence pointing to Pakistan’s support of terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir, according to media reports.

Indian forces have seized a US-made M4 rifle used by the Pakistani Army from a reportedly Pakistani-origin Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist killed in a gunfight with security forces in Budgam district in Jammu and Kashmir, a senior army official confirmed to Sputnik.

Vidhi Kumar, Deputy Inspector General of Police told Indian Daily, New Indian Express that US-made M-4 assault rifle and an AK-47 rifle was recovered from the slain militants, whose identity was being ascertained. M-4 carbine rifle is being used by Pakistan and US special forces. It is the second M4 rifle seized in militancy-hit Kashmir in last six months.
Security forces continued their crackdown on terrorist groups in Jammu and Kashmir after the Pulwama terror attack, and over the last 24 hours six top terrorists have been killed and one has been arrested in the valley, according to media reports.

Military officials say that the seizure of the US-made M 4 rifle proves a strong link between terror groups operating in the Kashmir Valley and the Pakistani Army.

In fact, this is the second seizure of an M4 rifle in Jammu and Kashmir in the last six months. Earlier, security forces recovered an M4 rifle from a terrorist after an encounter with the nephew of Masood Azhar, Talha Rashid, in Jammu and Kashmir in September 2017.

This is the second seizure of M 4 rifle in the Jammu and Kashmir in the last six months. 20. UK Sold Over $7Bln Worth of Arms to Saudi-Led Coalition Since 2015 – Reports (sputniknews, Mar 29, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/world/201903291073666112-uk-saudi-arabia-arms-yemen/

“The United Kingdom sold at least 5.7 billion pounds ($7.45 billion) worth of arms to the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen since the start of the war in 2015, Sky News reported, citing figures released by the UK Department of trade agreements and compiled by a UK anti-arms trade organisation.

According to figures from the UK Department of International Trade, compiled by the Campaign Against Arms Trade organisation and released by Sky News, the UK government licensed 4.7 billion pounds worth of arms to Saudi Arabia alone.

Another 1 billion pounds worth of arms were sold to other members of the coalition. According to the media outlet, the total figure of UK arms sales could be much higher because the UK government sold the arms to the coalition through a type of open license that allows an uncapped number of items to be sent to the receiving country over five years.

The UK government is not obliged to disclose the total value of the licenses once they end, the outlet said.

The Saudi-led coalition has been engaged in the civil war in Yemen since March 2015, when it started to carry out airstrikes against the Houthi armed rebels at the request of Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.

The Yemeni civil war has claimed over 7,000 lives, while over 20 million people in Yemen currently in need of humanitarian assistance, according to UN estimates.”

    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20190329-iran-cuts-syria-militia-funds-as-us-economic-sanctions-tighten/

“Iran has cut funding to militia groups in Syria as its economy continues to suffer from the renewed imposition of US sanctions, after the Trump Administration withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal.

Armed groups backed by Tehran have reported to be missing paycheques and even financial aid to Iran’s closest Arab ally, the Lebanese Hezbollah group, has dried up in recent months.

“The golden days are gone and will never return,” a fighter with an Iranian-backed militia in Syria who recently lost a third of his salary and other benefits told the New York Times. “Iran doesn’t have enough money to give us.”

“You’re not in Hezbollah for the money,” another anonymous fighter said. “You’re giving your blood, your soul, because you believe, but if your family is in the street, how can you fight?”…”

  22. White People’s Eating Habits Hurting the Environment, Academia Claims (breitbart, Mar 29, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/03/29/white-peoples-eating-habits-hurting-the-environment-academia-claims/

“A report published in the Journal of Industrial Ecology claims that white people’s eating habits are contributing more to climate change than their black and Latino counterparts.
Report authors concluded, using data on food production — use of water, land, production, and distribution — that white people’s diet causes more greenhouse gas emissions.

“Potatoes, beef, apples, and milk are some of the worst offenders,” the New York Post reported.

“The food pipeline — which includes its production, distribution, and waste — contributes significantly to climate change through the production of greenhouse gases and requires significant amounts of water and land, which also has environmental effects,” Joe Bozeman, a student at the University of Illinois who helped produce the report, said.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) contributed to the report, providing data on more than 500 food groups and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) weighed in on individual diets.

    The Post reported:

Data showed that whites produced an average of 680 kilograms of the CO2 each year, attributable to food and drink, whereas Latinx individuals produced 640 kilograms, and blacks 600.

They also found the diets of white people required 328,000 liters of water on average per year. Latinx used just 307,000 liters, and blacks 311,800. Both black and Latinx individuals used more land per capita with 1,770 and 1,710 square meters per year, respectively than white people with just 1,550. Nevertheless, white people still made the greatest overall contribution to climate change.

The underlying purpose of the study is ominous, calling for policies to address the findings.

“The study was undertaken to get a better understanding of the environmental impacts of the food consumption patterns of major demographic groups so that environmental policies designed to reduce negative impacts of food production could be drafted that take these differences into account,” a press release announcing the report said.

“If you are going to draft policies that may reduce the amount of land-intensive oranges, we need to think about other less resource-intensive sources of vitamin C,” Bozeman said. “It gets more complex as you look closely at the food pipeline and how different populations engage with it, but we are now starting to get a better understanding on these complex dynamics in such a way that we can begin to rationally take steps to improve environmental quality.”

The report Abstract stated, in part:

Our findings suggest that obtaining data with the intention of building consensus across sociodemographic lines overcomes barriers in the understanding phase, leading to increased social receptivity for many planning and managing phase processes. Specifically, we find that identifying and developing leaders who possess the cognitive and interpersonal capacity to manage many variables and stakeholders is key to assessing and selecting adaptation options in the planning phase.

We also propose using government programming to encourage environmentally friendly food purchasing behavior. Then, we discuss how our proposals could be used in adaptation feasibility and evaluation activities in the managing phase. In all, these findings facilitate the development of improved climate change adaptation and policy by satisfying the understanding phase of the climate change adaptation framework, establishing a cross?disciplinary methodological approach to addressing socioecological problems, and providing useful FEW impact data for FEW nexus and climate change researchers.

“While the difference may not be enormous, these numbers are per individual, and when you add up all those individuals, it’s very clear that whites are responsible for the majority of greenhouse gases emitted as a result of their food choices,” Bozeman said.”

.2 The potential of labour migration from third countries

The following impacts can be identified (6):

    3.2.1
    On host countries:

—Job vacancies and skills gaps can be filled.

    —Economic growth can be sustained.

—Services to an ageing population can be maintained when there are insufficient young people locally.

—The pension gap can be filled by the contributions of new young migrant workers, who also pay taxes.

    —Immigrants bring energy and innovation.

—Host countries are enriched by cultural and ethnic diversity.

—Depopulating areas can be revived, including schools with falling numbers.

    3.2.2
    On countries of origin:

—Developing countries benefit from remittances (payments sent home by migrants), which now often outstrip foreign aid (7), but also from cultural exchange.

—unemployment is reduced and young migrants enhance their life prospects.

—Returning migrants bring savings, skills and international contacts.

    ……….
4.4 Addressing depopulation of rural and remote areas

    4.4.1
Rural, mountain and island areas are becoming depopulated, which creates a downward economic and social spiral that gains momentum as more people migrate into towns. The loss of population reduces the amount of money circulating within a community, which then affects the viability of local businesses, shops and transport links, as well as the availability of essential facilities and services.

    4.4.2
In some areas of the EU, for instance in Ireland or Brandenburg, depopulation is being overcome by settling migrants. In the case of agriculture, for example, the contribution of migrant labour in Northern Ireland has been key to the survival of a sector with serious problems in terms of labour supply and an ageing workforce. The migrant population is prepared to accept jobs with salaries and conditions that have been rejected by the local population, and to live in villages at high risk of depopulation, despite the fact that it may be a highly unregulated sector with a risk of labour exploitation (23).

    4.4.3
Opportunities are available under the European Union’s rural development policy to assist local rural communities with the arrival of migrants. A number of rural development organisations have pointed out the potential assistance that rural areas can offer migrants, whose arrival could play a role in revitalising areas suffering from underpopulation and/or economic decline. The European Parliament has emphasised the importance of providing support for migrants’ social inclusion and integration into the labour market in its 2017 study (24).

    4.5 Addressing cultural diversity

    4.5.1
The lack of a migrant population would be to the detriment of diversity in EU countries, leading to a xenophobic and self-satisfied discourse, which is at odds with the EU’s guiding principles. Furthermore, we would lose a contribution to the expansion of values, such as equal treatment and non-discrimination, where the visibility of the population with a migrant background has helped to achieve progress in recent years.

    4.6
For all of the above, non-immigration to the EU must be discarded as an unrealistic, unimplementable and immensely harmful scenario.

“Spygate: How Obama Officials Plotted to Take Down Trump [2019] PART 1”

    DECLASSIFIED – The Epoch Times
    Published on Mar 28, 2019

Spygate has become one of the greatest political scandals in America’s history. In this special two-part series we explore how the intelligence community and federal agencies conspired against Donald Trump’s presidency. A willing and complicit media spread unsubstantiated or falsified leaks as facts in an effort to promote the Russia-collusion narrative rather than objectively report on it.

The Spygate scandal also raises a bigger question, was the 2016 election a one-time aberration or is it symptomatic of decades of institutional political corruption? This story builds on dozens of Congressional testimonies, court documents, and other research to provide an inside look at the actions of Obama administration officials in this scandal.

  28. Judicial Watch Seeks Records of Brennan’s and Clapper’s Role in Spreading Russia Lies

‘Judicial Watch FOIA litigation is the best hope for getting full accountability on this attack on our constitutional republic…’

(Ben Sellers, Liberty Headlines) With the Mueller Report‘s debunked allegations of Russian collusion behind us, conservatives increasingly have sounded a drumbeat to hold accountable those responsible enough for the real misinformation campaign.

Once again, Freedom of Information (FOIA) requests from the transparency/accountability guardians at Judicial Watch may be the catalyst that helps set it in motion.

The salacious and since-discredited Steele Dossier lies at the center of a massive web of collusion, which likely enmeshed the Hillary Clinton campaign, intelligence community, White House, media outlets and the opposition research firm FusionGPS in a plot that itself may have been orchestrated by the Kremlin.

And yet, all were willing participants due to the partisan, anti-Trump elements who were willing to cash in all ethical scruples in service of a higher mission: undermining the GOP president while deflecting from Clinton’s potentially criminal conduct.

Judicial Watch announced a FOIA lawsuit on Wednesday seeking records of communication between the liberal CNN network and two Obama-era intelligence officials: former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former CIA Director John Brennan.

The two men, both of whom later became CNN analysts, are believed to have had a hand in leaking Steele Dossier to the network, it said in a press release.

  29. Trump says he ‘may close the Southern Border’ to stop flow of illegal immigrants

President Trump criticized Mexico Thursday for not stopping the flow of illegal immigrants into the United States and said he “may close the Southern Border” to prevent more from entering.

“Mexico is doing NOTHING to help stop the flow of illegal immigrants to our Country. They are all talk and no action. Likewise, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador have taken our money for years, and do Nothing. The Dems don’t care, such BAD laws. May close the Southern Border,” he tweeted.

Mr. Trump used his first veto Friday on a congressional bill negating his declaration of a border emergency.

The measure originally passed the House and Senate, but House Democrats fell far short of the two-thirds majority required to overturn the president’s veto.

  30. THE HILL – Rand Paul blocks resolution calling for Mueller report release

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) blocked a resolution calling for special counsel Robert Mueller’s report to be made public, arguing that Congress should also call for the release of communications and testimony from Obama-era officials.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), who is one of several Democratic senators running for president, tried to get unanimous consent for the Senate to pass the resolution, which cleared the House in a 420-0 vote earlier this month.

“We still have not seen the report. I have urged the Department of Justice to release the report, and the administration should not delay in producing the report to Congress,” Klobuchar said.

But Paul objected because Klobuchar wouldn’t agree to amend the nonbinding resolution to include provisions calling for the public release of communications between several Obama-era officials including former President Obama, former FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan.

“We need to know was there malfeasance, was there misuse of power, did President Obama’s administration get involved in an election to infiltrate the Trump campaign to trap them? … We need to know that,” he said. “What we need to discover and we do not yet know: Was President Obama involved?”

Under Senate rules, any one senator can request that any bill or resolution be passed. But because it requires the sign-off of every senator, any one senator can also block their request.

Thursday’s floor drama marks the fourth time Democrats have tried to pass the House resolution, which argues there is “overwhelming public interest” in the government releasing the contents of the high-profile Mueller report. The resolution calls on the Justice Department to fully release the report to Congress and to release it to the public “except to the extent the public disclosure of any portion thereof is expressly prohibited by law.”

Mueller handed over his report to the Justice Department last week, marking the formal end to his two-year investigation. Attorney General William Barr sent a four-page letter to the House and Senate Judiciary committees on Sunday and told lawmakers he is currently working with Mueller to determine what should be released.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) blocked the resolution for his second time on Wednesday.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) also blocked it earlier this month because Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) refused to amend it to include a provision calling on the Justice Department to appoint a special counsel to investigate alleged department misconduct in the handling of the investigation into 2016 Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s email use and the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act applications related to Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

Paul had previously warned that he would block the resolution unless information about the opposition research dossier compiled against then-candidate Trump was also released.

“I don’t care whether it’s a Democrat president or a Republican president, we should not waste the time of the entire country sending spies into campaigns, making false accusations and tying the country in knots for two years,” Paul said from the Senate floor on Thursday.

“We will agree to see the Mueller report as long as the other side will agree to show us the communications that took place in deciding to promote this fake allegation against the president and whether there was misuse of their office,” he continued.

“We based this investigation on a lie, we should investigate who the liars were.”

In addition to asking for information to be publicly released, Paul’s amendment would also call for Obama-era CIA Director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper to testify under oath, call for any communications from Obama about an investigation into the Trump campaign to be released and for the public release of any communication about the decision not to indict Clinton.

The tradesman claimed his manager fired him following comments about Islam
He called Islam ‘violent’ and ‘destructive’ following the Christchurch shootings
But Knight-Wagener claimed he was just ‘having an intellectual conversation’

A tradie was fired four days into a new job for calling Muslims ‘violent and destructive’ the day after the Christchurch terror attack.

Thomas Knight-Wagener lost his job at Placemakers Albany, north-west of Auckland, after making the comments.

Knight-Wagener, originally from Kaitaia, told the NZ Herald he was ‘having an intellectual conversation’ with his new colleagues about Islam.

He mentioned reports he had read about crimes committed in the United Kingdom by Muslims, following a conversation about the mosque attacks.

On the Wednesday after the massacre he went into work only to be told by his manager that he had been assigned to another job.

Knight-Wagener claims the manager had fired him because ‘something was said on Saturday about the Christchurch shooting’.

He told the publication that one of his colleagues was offended by his comments.

‘I elaborated on the current state of the UK in regards to the growing Islamic community and the crimes against the people in these communities,’ Knight-Wagener said.

‘I said no swear words and was not abusive or aggressive in my manner. I was simply stating facts, of which no one wanted to hear obviously.’

But Knight-Wagener admitted that he was flippant when making his comments and regretted them immediately.

When quizzed by the publication about his political leanings, Knight-Wagener said he did not know what left or right wing meant but that he was a fan of controversial alt-right speaker Milo Yiannopoulos.

Yiannopoulos’ Australian visa was cancelled one week after it was approved by the immigration minister after he blamed the Christchurch attacks on ‘extremist leftism and barbaric, alien religious cultures’.

Knight-Wagener said he would now have to work as a fruit picker in the Bay of Plenty, which he claims is a downgraded role considering he is a qualified engineer.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Placemakers and Knight Wagener for comment.
