  1. London BLOODBATH: ‘Carnage’ on streets LAID BARE as homicides hit highest rate in a decade (express, Dec 13, 2018)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1058215/london-crime-uk-crime-knife-crime-homicide-rate-london-murder-rate-home-office-sadiq-khan

“THE TOTAL murder rate in London so far in 2018 is the highest it has ever been in a decade, horrific new Home Office statistics released yesterday have revealed.

There have been 125 recorded murders in the capital in 2018. Many of the victims – just more than a third – were aged 16-24. The majority of the killings (73) were carried out using knives, with 14 using guns and one using a crossbow.

The spate of violence has continued, despite the best efforts of the Metropolitan Police and Mayor of London to bring it under control.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, was warned on Wednesday Londoners are “heartbroken” to hear about the “carnage” on the streets and the ongoing impact it continues to have on families and victims.

Mr Khan was told to take “drastic” action on violent crime after the shocking figures emerged.

London Assembly Police and Crime Committee chair Steve O’Connell said: “Londoners are heartbroken to hear about the near-daily carnage on our streets, the young lives lost and the misery for families and communities.

“The Mayor’s new Violence Reduction Unit will need to demonstrate that it brings something different to the table.

“It cannot simply be a rebranding exercise of existing programmes and policies.

“We cannot emphasise enough how critical it is that the unit tackles the traumatic situations that children might live through in order to break the cycle of violence.

“We do not underestimate the challenge ahead but it’s time for the Mayor to take even further and drastic action because London is crying out for change.”

A spokesman for the Mayor of London said: “The Mayor is expanding City Hall’s long-term public health approach to tackling the root causes of all forms of violence by setting up a Violence Reduction Unit in London.”

The latest wave of violent crime to plague the capital saw the untimely death of 18-year-old Jay Sewell.

The young man was stabbed to death in a fight in Alwold Crescent, Lee, south-east London, shortly before 10pm on Tuesday.

Police said they were called to “reports of armed youths in the street”.

A second man, also 18, went to hospital with stab injuries but has since been discharged.

The force said it had made a sixth arrest in connection with the attack, with a 16-year-old boy taken into custody on suspicion of murder following a raid on a property in Avery Hill on Wednesday afternoon.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Harding said: “We are at the very early stages of our investigation into this tragic murder.

“We urgently need to hear from anyone who saw what happened in Alwold Crescent.

“We have already spoken to a number of people as part of our initial inquiries, but we would like to hear from anyone who lives near the scene who saw anything that might assist our investigation to contact us.

“Did you see either group going to and from the scene? Did you see the fight?

“Perhaps you saw something after the incident that in retrospect may be linked.

“We would urge you to get in touch right away.”

There have been 125 violent deaths in the capital so far this year, the largest number in a calendar year since 2009, when there were 131.

In 2018 there have been 72 deaths involving a knife, 13 involving a gun, one involving a knife and a gun and one a crossbow.

Just over a third of victims, 44, were aged 16 to 24, of whom 10 were shot, 32 were stabbed and one was killed in an attack involving a knife and gun.

Twenty-five of the victims were aged 19 and under, six of whom were shot and 16 of whom were stabbed.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick insisted earlier this month the tide was turning against knife and gun offences, although she admitted it would take time to tackle the 180 violent gangs in London who drag children into crime.”

    • “The Violence Reduction Unit of Police Scotland was established in January 2005 by Strathclyde Police to target all forms of violent behaviour.[1] The unit adopted a public health approach to violence as described in the WHO’s “World Report On Violence and Health” (2002). Its aims are to reduce violent crime and behaviour by working with agencies in fields such as health, education and social work; to achieve long-term societal and attitudinal change by focusing on enforcement; and to contain and manage individuals who carry weapons, or who are involved in violent behaviour. The unit also aims to explore best practices and develop sustainable, innovative solutions to the deep-rooted problem of violence. The VRU is estimated to cost $1.5 million to operate annually.[2]” – wiki

  2. How Al Qaeda And ISIS Teach Central Asian Children: Different Methods, Common Goals – Analysis (eurasiareview, Dec 13, 2018)
    https://www.eurasiareview.com/13122018-how-al-qaeda-and-isis-teach-central-asian-children-different-methods-common-goals-analysis/

“Some Western countries mistakenly think that the al Qaida-linked Salafi-jihadi groups from Central Asia and Chinese Xinjiang are fragmented, weak and less dynamic; therefore they do not pose a big threat compared to the Islamic state. However, in-depth study of their activities and ideological doctrine shows that the Central Asian al Qaida ally groups today are actively engaged in the ideological education of children and youth, which in the future will become faithful fighters of the global jihad.

The following comparison covers the methods of ideological education of Central Asia’s children and youth, and their use by ISIS and al Qaeda to achieve their goals….”

    • “It is known that during the bloody reign of the Caliphate, more than 10 thousand citizens from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and the Uyghurs from northwest China fought on the side of ISIS. Many of them made a Hijrah (the migration of Muslims for Jihad) to Iraq and Syria to “protect the values of true Islam” and brought their families with small children there.Subsequently, some of these children entered the battalion ‘Cubs of the Caliphate’ and became protagonists in the Islamic State’s Propaganda.

According to my statistical research, in 2013-2018, more than 55 video, audio, and text materials were released by the Islamic State’s media wings with the participation of Central Asia’s children in Arabic, Uygur, Uzbek, Russian, Kyrgyz, and Tajik. After the fall of the Caliphate, propaganda videos with the participation of Central Asian children almost ceased. But the ideological “virus” ISIS continues its mutation among the youth of the former Soviet republics.

With the diminishing possibilities of the Islamic state’s media resources, the propaganda and ideological activity of the al Qaida-linked Central Asian Salafi-jihadi groups have recently increased in contrast. As is already known, the Uzbek militants of Katibat al-Tawhid wal Jihad (KTJ) and Katibat Imam al-Bukhari (KIB), as well as Uyghur jihadists of the Turkestan Islamic Party (TIP)from the Chinese province of Xinjiang are affiliated with al Qaeda. All three groups regularly publish propaganda videos of children from the Syrian province of Idlib where they are fighting against the regime of Bashar al-Assad. Since 2013, al Qaeda has posted about 30 videos, audio and text materials in which Central Asia’s children made up the main plot.

It should be noted that in Syria and Afghanistan about 200 Uyghur and Uzbek children are now being raised, whose parents are associated with al Qaeda. Many of them came to the Middle East with their parents. However, among them, there are those who were born already in Syria.

Common aspects of the ideological school of al Qaeda and ISIS
Based on a comparative analysis of video, audio and text materials regarding the participation of Central Asian children, it is possible to point out the common and specific aspects of the alQaeda and ISIS ideological schools, and what different methodologies they use in raising children and youth.

The main common characteristic of the curriculum in al Qaeda’s and ISIS’ madrasas is learning the Quran by heart, Tawhid (monotheism), Fiqh (jurisprudence), Salat (prayers), Aqidah (creed), Hadith, and Sura (life of Prophet Muhammad).

The second common feature in the education of Central Asian children in al Qaeda and ISIS’ camps is the call to Jihad. The doctrine of Jihad is the main place in the ideology of both Sunni terrorist groups, and accordingly, in the madrasas and training camps, children are brainwashed from early childhood with ideas of holy Jihad. Imams explain to children in detail about all forms of Jihad and the sacred purpose of the Shahid (martyr). As a result, children after training in such religious schools, as a rule, replenish the “reserve fund” of ideologically hardened jihadists.

The difference between al Qaeda and ISIS in the education of children and youth
A sharp ideological confrontation between the two main Sunni groups has escalated into armed conflict, which also affects the education of the younger generation of Islamists. To achieve victory in the struggle for hegemony in the global jihadist movement, the ideologists of al Qaeda use all means, including children’s education in madrasas.

Al Qaeda-sympathized Uzbek and Uyghur imams in madrasas in Syria tell children about the enemies of Islam, which they ranked on a par with the “Kafir regimes” of the USA, Russia and China also the Kharijites (those who defected from the Ummah and rebelled against the Caliph) of the Islamic state and its leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi.

KTJ and TIP opened several madrasas to teach their children in Uzbek and Uyghur languages on the territory of the so-called “Liberated land of Sham”, which is controlled by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), former al-Nusra Front.KTJ on the Internet often disseminates information about the activities of two madrasas: the Abdullah ibn Abbas Madrasa and the Umar ibn al-Khattab Madrasa.

Also, the Uyghur Salafists of TIP own several madrasas in in Jisr al-Shugur in northwestern Syria. This was possible thanks to the fact that the Uyghur and Uzbek jihadists live compactly and separately in last major rebel stronghold of Idlib. In accordance with the guiding doctrine of al Qaeda, they have skillfully adapted to local conditions, and have virtually no conflicts with the local Arab population.

As is known, during the ideological confrontation, al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri accused ISIS of excessive cruelty towards other Muslims, an unjustified using of Takfir (accusation of apostasy), ignoring the high goals of the Shari’a, which split the Mujahideen ranks. In 2015, the ideologues of al Qaeda even published a special book entitled “The Islamic State is the succession of tyranny and corruption,” in which they raised the problem of excessiveness in Islam (Ghulu fid-deen) and called al-Baghdadi to moderation.Zawahiri brought to mind him the Hadith, in which Prophet said: “Beware of ghulu (excessiveness) in religion, for indeed, what devastated those before you was ghulu in religion.”

ISIS spokesman Abu Muhammad al Adnani replied that the Caliphate did not swear al Qaeda because it was not appropriate for the State to swear organizations. As a result, ISIS began to use mass executions and public beheadings with incredible cruelty. Unlike ISIS, al Qaeda advocated a more gentle approach to convince local Muslims to accept its views and not force them to do.Ayman al-Zawahiri noted that it is impossible to unite Muslims, trying to impose their power on them with the help of violence.

Indeed, during the peak of his reign in 2015–16, ISIS released dozens of videos with the participation of Central Asian children, who not only taught the Quran in the madrasas, but also cut off the heads of prisoners, executed “kafirs”, and blew themselves up as martyrs. Central Asia’s children were integrated into the military machine of the Caliphate as cruel executioners and suicide bombers, becoming an ideological tool in the struggle for leadership in the global jihad.

The ideological differences between the Islamic state and al Qaeda manifested themselves with the example of teaching children in madrasas. The Uyghur and Uzbek jihadists of TIP, KTJ and KIB, in organizing the teaching of children in the madrasas, took into account the recommendations of their spiritual leader Zawahiri to show a sense of practicality, pragmatism and not to demonstrate excessive cruelty.

When analyzing video plots, the “peaceful nature” of the educational process stands out and the excessive cruelty of the students of the madrasa does not appear. For example, in the Abdullah ibn Abbas Madrasa, in addition to studying the Quran, children also study mathematics, Arabic and Uzbek languages, military science and sports.Imam says that the madrasa is fully equipped with books and textbooks, and books on the Uzbek language brought from Central Asia.According to him, the goal of training is to bring up a new generation of educated and highly intelligent warriors of Allah so that in the future they can resist the technological know-how of the West and defeat the enemies of Islam.

Another video shows the educational process in the Umar ibn al-Khattab Madrasa, where the Uzbek children study among local Arab children. For Uzbek children, a bus-service has been organized that to take and pick children up from Madrasa.

On October 29, 2018, TIP published a video entitled “Protectors of the Quran”, where Uighur children demonstrate excellent knowledge of the Quran, social science classes, swimming in the pool, exercise and military training. The Imam tells them about the atrocities of the Chinese authorities against the Uyghur Muslims and sets the task that they must liberate the lands of East Turkestan from the yoke of Beijing in the future. An analysis of these videos shows that in madrasas, the learning process is organized according to the concept of al Qaeda and the upbringing of children is conducted according to its ideology.

The USA is the main enemy for al Qaeda-backed Central Asia’s jihadists
The fall of the Caliphate revealed that Ayman al-Zawahiri had strategically calibrated the priorities of al Qaeda and its affiliated groups from Central Asia, and managed to implement an action plan that allowed them to survive in the struggle for leadership of the global jihad. For him, it is important not the seizure of territories or the creation of his own state with Sharia rule, but the process of jihad against the USA and its allies, and the widespread of al Qaeda ideology in the Islamic world.

Al Qaeda’s tactic is that it tries not to draw enemy’s fire, slyly and prudently leads the game on its own survival, fundamentally creates its own ideological infrastructure and persistently teaches the next generation of jihadists.

The activities of TIP, KTJ and KIB showed that over the past five years the influence of al Qaeda among the Salafis of Central Asia has increased significantly. There is not only the rejuvenation of al Qaeda militants, but also the ideology of global jihadism is rejuvenating.

In his manifest address named General Guidelines for Jihad, Ayman al-Zawahiri outlined al-Qaida’s priority task of fighting against the far enemy – the United States and its allies.According to him, the local regimes and other Islamic movements (Rawafidh, Ismailis, Qadianis, and deviant Sufis, etc.) are nearby enemies for Al Qaida. He urged not to attack the “nearby enemies”, but instead focus on fighting the “far enemy.”

There is no doubt that TIP, KTJ and KIB will firmly adhere to the strategic line designated by Zawahiri. For them, the main priority remains a blow to the US and its military, diplomatic missions near the conflict zones in the future. But they are not in a position to carry out such an operation now and so far securely hide their true intentions. Therefore, the US should not underestimate the potential threat posed by the al Qaeda-affiliated Central Asian Salafi-jihadi groups.

  3. 21 Islamic State militants escape Iraqi jail, most recaptured (reuters, Dec 13, 2018)
    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-iraq-security-prison/21-islamic-state-militants-escape-iraqi-jail-most-recaptured-idUSKBN1OC0XW

“Twenty one prisoners, most of them members of Islamic State jailed on terrorism charges, broke out of a prison in northern Iraq but 15 of them have been recaptured, Kurdish security officials said on Thursday.

The fortified jail of Sosa is located near the Iraqi Kurdish city of Sulaimaniya and include mainly militants of the hardline Islamist group who were captured during the fight against Islamic State which started in 2014.

Kurdish security officials launched manhunt operations after the break-out late on Wednesday and 15 of the 21 were recaptured, two security officials said. The whereabouts of the other six remains unknown.

Although Sosa jail is located in the semi-autonomous Kurdish region of northern Iraq, the federal government has full control over the prison.

“Almost all of the convicted inmates who escaped are from Daesh,” said one Kurdish security source. Daesh is an Arabic acronym for Islamic State.

It was not clear how the inmates managed to escape the highly secured prison.

Islamic State, which once occupied a third of Iraq’s territory, has been largely defeated in the country but still poses a threat along the border with Syria.

The group has resorted to guerrilla tactics since it abandoned its goal of holding territory and creating a self-sufficient caliphate that straddles Iraq and Syria.”

  4. Finnish Female Supervisors Suspected of Having Sex With 17yo Migrants – Reports (sputniknews, Dec 13, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201812131070642182-finland-migrants-sex/

“According to former employees, fired in a cost-cutting effort, the bosses of a local reception centre in rural Finland were fully aware of the suspicions of teenage migrants being exploited by their superiors, but failed to act on them.

Suspicions had been raised of several female supervisors from Ruthsgården, a refugee accommodation in Oravais, having sex with asylum seekers aged 16-17, the local newspaper Vasabladet reported.

By its own admission, the newspaper is privy to a reconsideration request from one of the former staff members who had been fired from the reception centre due to austerity measures. The request claims that both the director and deputy director knew of the suspicions but failed to act on them.

“This is something that cannot be swept under the rug. Should there even be the slightest suspicion of sexual relations or irregularities, they are always investigated”, the request read, according to the newspaper.

“The bosses knew”, one of the sacked staff members told Vasabladet.

The newspaper pointed out that a supervisor is in a position of power over the asylum seekers and wondered why the bosses who allegedly knew of the suspected sexual relations were allowed to keep their jobs.

However, the police in Ostrobothnia region are yet to receive a report regarding the suspicions. According to the police, though, the threshold for initiating an investigation into the suspected sexual exploitation of children is very low.

Oravais is a majority Swedish-speaking town of over 2,000 inhabitants in Ostrobothnia region. About 10 percent of its population are asylum seekers living in the reception centre founded in 1991.

Suspicions of reception centre personnel exploiting asylum seekers have been previously raised in Finland’s neighbours Sweden and Norway.”

“Turkey’s official gazette published a presidential decree Thursday announcing the establishment of the country’s space agency.

The Turkey Space Agency will prepare and carry out the National Space Program in line with the policies determined by the president of Turkey, according to the decree.

The agency will have financial and administrative autonomy as well as a special budget.

In August, Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank said a Turkish space agency would be founded this year, as it was set out in Turkey’s 100-day action plan.

“Work to form the Turkish space agency will be completed as soon as possible,” Varank said in a statement.

The new agency will pave the way for the establishment of a competitive indigenous industry, he said.

“We are forming the Turkish space agency in order to strengthen our aerospace industry, improve scientific infrastructure and human resources in the field of space technology and further boost our capacities and abilities.”

The agency will also pursue multilateral and bilateral cooperation with its international counterparts while protecting Turkey’s rights at the United Nations, he added.”

    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201812131070644263-sweden-terrorism-arrest/

“Despite the fact that the case was labelled as “concerning the security of the nation” and revealed international connections, Sweden’s terror threat level remains unchanged at elevated.

One person has been arrested on suspicion of preparing a terrorist offence or incitement to terrorism, during special raids carried out overnight at several addresses in Gothenburg, Sweden’s second largest city located in the western part of the country, in a terror-related case, national broadcaster SVT reported.

“The person has carried out preparations for the suspected terror crime for some time and there are international connections”, the Security Police (Säpo) said in a statement. Säpo also admitted that several others have been interrogated, stressing that preparations for the suspected terrorist offence have been ongoing for a considerable time.

Säpo press officer Karl Melin said that further arrests cannot be ruled out.

“This is an ongoing effort and we can not exclude anything. We are working on it, and will see whether new searches and seisures will be needed. This is a big job”, Melin told SVT, assuring that his agency is working day and night to keep Sweden safe.

Police spokesman Christer Fuxborg admitted that the matter concerns the security of the nation, pledging to use “all of the available and offered resources”.

So far, however, Sweden’s terror threat level remains unchanged at elevated, which corresponds to a three on a scale of five.”

  9. Terror Motive Considered In Finland ‘Foreign Men’ Bus Attacks (breitbart, Dec 13, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/12/13/investigators-refuse-rule-out-terror-motive-bus-attacks-foreign-men/

“Police in Finland say they are not ruling out a potential terrorist motivation after two “foreign” men attacked bus drivers while on the road, in one case nearly causing a head-on collision.

The two incidents, on a bus from Helsinki to the city of Oulu and another on a bus from Loimaa to Turku, occurred last week and saw passengers described as being “foreign” get up from their seats and attack the drivers, Yle reports.

The first incident saw a man attempt to grab the steering wheel of the bus that was travelling to Turku and drive it into the opposite lane. According to Petri Valtanen, the CEO of the bus company, it nearly hit an oncoming bus but the driver of the other bus was able to get out of the way, leading to only minor damage to both vehicles.

“If the driver in the other bus hadn’t reacted [so quickly] it would have been a head-on collision,” Valtanen said.

The next attack took place only a day later and saw another foreign man, also said to be in his 30s, attack the driver of his bus but he was almost immediately subdued by other passengers and held down until he was arrested by police.

Investigator Sanna Springare said that police were investigating all possibilities and refused to rule out whether or not the attacks were connected and whether they may be linked to terrorism.

While Finland has a smaller radical Islamic scene than countries like Germany, France, or Belgium, the Nordic nation did see a terrorist attack in Turku last year when an 18-year-old Moroccan asylum seeker stabbed several people, killing two and injuring seven others.

Finland, like many other European countries, received a number of asylum seekers during the height of the migrant crisis in 2015. According to Finnish Prime Minister Juha Sipilä, the majority of asylum seekers who came to the country were not refugees but economic migrants.”

  10. Judge demands documents related to Michael Flynn’s interview with FBI in 2017

A federal judge is demanding the special counsel and Michael Flynn turn over confidential documents related to Flynn’s questioning in January 2017. The request was made late Wednesday, one day after Flynn’s legal team claimed the FBI urged him not to involve his lawyers in the interview.

Flynn has admitted to lying to investigators during that meeting about his communications with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

The judge is now looking to see if the FBI interfered in Flynn’s legal right to have attorneys present. If they did, the judge could toss out the entire case and dismiss the charge he’s facing.

Mueller has until Friday to turn in those documents.

  11. Venezuelan president accuses John Bolton of plotting assassination attempt

    OAN Newsroom
    UPDATED 8:09 AM PT — Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro is accusing the U.S. of contemplating his assassination.

While talking to reporters Wednesday, Maduro said National Security Adviser John Bolton is running a plot to have him assassinated. He also alleged the U.S. is planning a military intervention and a regime change in Venezuela.

This comes after Maduro also accused Brazil of preparing a military invasion of his struggling socialist country.

At some point, a sense of futility may set in with decidedly unpleasant results—recent festivities in Paris being a fine example. Expand such dissatisfied sentiments all across The Continent and this situation becomes ripe for all sorts of kinetic circumstances. Perhaps most worrisome of all is where the chips will fall when it comes to police and armed forces. Without them behind him, Micron can declare martial law with every strike of the hour and it will be for naught.

  12. Final justice? Judge orders Mueller, Flynn teams to file docs including Flynn 302
    By J.E. Dyer December 13, 2018

If Judge Emmet Sullivan is true to his pattern of rigorously enforcing rules of evidence and discovery, the next week may be very interesting, not only for Michael Flynn but for the Justice Department, the FBI, and the Mueller investigation.

On Tuesday, Byron York published an article on the sentencing memo submitted by Michael Flynn’s defense team, which stated that when the FBI interviewed Flynn on 24 January 2017, (then) Deputy Director Andrew McCabe suggested that the interview be conducted without a lawyer present for Flynn. (McCabe arranged the interview.)

    • The leader is the most bravest of all but his determination left him dead with his team fleeing leaving him behind

      Cockles warming.

    • ~~ Drill, baby, drill! ~~

Civil defense drills are imperative. Don’t wait for committees and their recommendations. These can only be improved by real-life inputs.

Get the public familiar with following emergency protocols even before specific measures are determined:
      • Lines of communication, incorporate smartphone alerts.
      • Where people are to meet, contact family.
      • Much more. Even Ye Olde WWII procedures are worth reviewing.

The medical centers here [Boston] are constantly drilling – infectious disease epidemics, mass casualty events, power-outages. Very few visitors recognize a drill in progress.

But such practice shouldn’t be limited to first-responders. It needs to be everywhere, awareness must be elevated. Mass transit, schools, shopping malls, soft-targets like sports arenas and concerts.

      It saves lives.

  13. Obama’s War is Upon Us
How the ex-Radical-in-Chief created a security vacuum that Iran rushed to fill.
    December 13, 2018
    Kenneth R. Timmerman

Donald Trump has a name for everything and everyone, from Crooked Hillary to Little Rocket Man, who for a time became his best friend. Will he call the next region-wide conflagration in the Middle East, when it breaks out, Obama’s War?

If he hasn’t thought of that already, he should start considering it now. Because the catastrophic policies of our former president have emboldened the Islamic state of Iran and enabled it to threaten the United States and our allies militarily in ways never before possible.

When Obama took office in January 2009, he inherited a strong U.S. military and diplomatic posture across the Middle East.

The U.S.-Israel strategic relationship was at its peak, with the Bush White House openly supporting Operation Cast Lead, Israel’s latest attempt to stop Hamas terror in Gaza.

The U.S. enjoyed a close relationship with a secular Turkey, that itself had strong ties to Israel.

  14. Hillary Campaign Created Russia Conspiracy Theory to Challenge 2016 Election Results

Every revelation about the Steele dossier, the Clinton campaign’s Russia conspiracy theory that was funneled into the DOJ and then used as the basis for everything from eavesdropping on the political opposition to the Mueller investigation, just makes it worse.

And this latest revelation is particularly bad.

  15. Mexico to Fight Illegal Immigration by Closing Guatemala Border
    December 13, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

Most of the media coverage of the caravan missed the point.

It wasn’t about the midterms. It was a confrontation and a test of wills. The caravan backers expected to get through. And many of them did. But in the process, the confrontation between them and Trump seriously inconvenienced Mexico.

And Mexico is the illegal gateway to America.

Trump made illegal immigration from down south more of a problem for Mexico. And so Mexico, which has a much tougher immigration policy, responded appropriately. It doesn’t want a whole bunch of illegals hanging around its country any more than we do.

  16. California Running Out of Other People’s Money to Tax
    December 13, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

To paraphrase a Thatcher paraphrase, socialism works until you run out of other people’s money. And then you start taxing Netflix and text messages. On its way to bankruptcy, Chicago managed to do impose some ingenious taxes. Now California is following suit.

A California regulator’s plan to tax texts in order to fund cellphones for the poor hit a snag Wednesday after a Federal Communications Commission ruled text messages aren’t subject to the utility agency’s authority.

The decision by the FCC, which categorized text messages as “information services” on par with emails and not “telecommunications services,” came in an effort to combat robo-texts and spam messages. The California Public Utilities Commission now faces an uphill battle ahead of a scheduled vote on the measure next month.

Those opposed to the planned tax hailed the FCC decision a victory.

“We hope that the CPUC recognizes that taxing text messages is bad for consumers,” Jamie Hastings, senior vice president of external and state affairs for CTIA, which represents the U.S. wireless communications industry, told The Mercury News. “Taxing this service would burden those who rely on and use this service each and every day.”

  17. Spotify Flees San Fran HQ Over Homelessness, Violence

    https://www.frontpagemag.com/point/272223/spotify-flees-san-fran-hq-over-homelessness-daniel-greenfield Here’s a basic pattern.

    1. Lefty city subsidizes homelessness.

    2. Homelessness spreads along with violence and blight.

    3. The same lefty corps that subsidize lefty politics get nervous

    4. City announces bold new plan to subsidize homelessness twice as hard, attracting twice as many homeless people, and spreading twice as much crime, blight and violence. Voters cheer this bold new initiative that will finally solve the problem.

    5. Corps flee city.

    6. City subsidizes homelessness four times as hard, vowing that it will finally solve the problem.

  18. Democrat Congresswoman: “There is No Greater Right for Women” Than to Have an Abortion

A group of House Democrats introduced a bill earlier this week that would require the State Department to bring back the “Reproductive Rights” section of their annual Human Rights report.

Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY) introduced the bill along with Democratic Caucus Vice Chair Rep. Katherine Clark (D-MA), Ranking Member Eliot Engel (D-NY), Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), and Rep. Lois Frankel (D-FL).

“The U.S. cannot turn its back on the countless women around the world who are deprived of basic reproductive rights,” Rep. Lowey argued in a statement. “I’m proud to support legislation that would restore reproductive rights to the State Department’s annual human rights report, maintaining U.S. leadership on behalf of the world’s women across administrations.”

Rep. Frankel said in her statement that “there is no greater right for women than to be in charge of their own bodies.”

  19. The Hamas Plan to Take the West Bank

    by Khaled Abu Toameh

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/13405/hamas-west-bank

It is clear by now that Hamas is behind some of the recent terror attacks against Israelis in the West Bank. These attacks serve the interests of Hamas and its friends and sponsors, especially the Palestinian Islamic Jihad organization — and Iran.

Hamas and its allies have a plan, and they are not even keeping it a secret — to export their “armed struggle” against Israel beyond the Gaza Strip and ultimately to take control of the West Bank.

The latest terrorist attack took place on December 9 outside the West Bank settlement of Ofra, east of Ramallah. An Israeli-Canadian citizen, Amichai Ish-Ran, and this pregnant wife, Shira, were among seven people wounded in a drive-by shooting attack. The baby born prematurely as a result of the terrorist attack died on December 12, after doctors fought to save his life for close to 72 hours.

Hamas, which later claimed responsibility for the attack, was the first Palestinian faction to commend the terrorists. So far, not a single Palestinian faction has come out against the attack, including Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s ruling Fatah faction.

    • It is a communist symbol. And the new law, I understand it, simply brings Hungarian overtime up to EU standards. This is an organized protest, not spontaneous grassroots.

“The father who had both ears sliced off in an horrific machete attack ‘while protecting his son from bullies’ has died in hospital, his family has confirmed.

Sajed Choudry, 42, was left in a coma after the violent assault on him and and his son Ahsan Choudry, 24, in November.

The horrific image of Mr Choudry Snr lying in his hospital bed wrapped in bandages after skin graft operations to reattach his ears were greeted with shock last month.

Today his family confirmed that he lost his fight for life this afternoon, the Lancashire Telegraph reported…

Four people, Sadaqat Ali, 36, of Rhyl Avenue, Blackburn, Rafaqat Ali, 38, of Tenby Close, Blackburn and Fazal Ilhai, 62, also of Tenby Close, and a 13-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have all been charged with two counts of attempted murder.

They are due to appear before Preston Crown Court on Monday, December 17.”

  22. Iranian migrants airlifted to hospital with hypothermia during attempted Channel crossing (telegraph, Dec 13, 2018)
    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/12/13/air-rescue-english-channel-iranian-migrants-airlifted-hospital/

“Two suspected migrants were airlifted to hospital suffering from hypothermia and fume inhalation while attempting to cross the English Channel, in the most serious incident this year involving smuggling boats.

The two men, who were part of a group of 10 people, are fighting for their lives in Bolougne-sur-Mer after attempting the perilous crossing in heavy seas, high winds and low temperatures.

The other eight men, who all presented themselves as Iranian, were rushed back to Calais in a lifeboat after their stricken vessel struggled with engine problems in the busiest shipping lane in the world.

They too were taken to hospital suffering from hypothermia.

The small pleasure cruiser on which the men had travelled was confirmed to be the same boat that had been seen by the Telegraph, abandoned on a beach in Northern France last week.

The Alicia, a seven-metre vessel had been purchased by a man who claimed to be British last Tuesday.

That evening, it had taken to sea, but the one person onboard radioed the coast guard for assistance after getting into trouble in shallow waters in Équihen-Plage, just south of Boulogne sur Mer.

The boat was abandoned by its owner and left beached, but questions will be asked of French authorities as to how it was able to be reclaimed as a craft to ferry migrants across the Channel…”

  23. University professor sent elite mercenaries to rescue student from Isil warzone (telegraph, Dec 13, 2018)
    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/12/13/swedish-university-rescues-student-isil-warzone-daring-mercenary/

“t’s a level of pastoral care few universities can boast of providing. A chemistry professor at Lund University dispatched a team of elite mercenaries into an Islamic State warzone to free one of her doctoral students and his family.

Charlotta Turner, Professor in Analytical Chemistry, received a text message from her student Firas Jumaah in 2014 telling her to to assume he would not finish his thesis if he had not returned within a week.

He and his Yazidi family were, he told her, hiding out in a disused bleach factory, hearing the sounds of gunshots as Islamic State (Isil) warriors roamed the town outside.

“I had no hope then at all,” Jumaah told Lund’s University Magazine LUM. “I was desperate. I just wanted to tell my supervisor what was happening. I had no idea that a professor would be able to do anything for us.”

But Turner was in no mind to let Jumaah’s research project go unfinished.

“What was happening was completely unacceptable,” she said. “I became so angry that IS could barge themselves into our world, endanger my doctoral student and disturb the research.”

She contacted her superiors to find out if anything could be done.

“It was a question of basic humanity. My boss gave me the green light and said ‘just do it’,” she said.

She contacted the university’s then security chief Per Gustafson.

“It was almost as if he’d been waiting for this kind of mission,” she said. “Per Gustafson said that we had deal with a transport and security company which was valid all over the whole world.”

Over a few days of intense activity, Gustafson hired a security company which then arranged a rescue operation. Just a few days later two Toyota Land Cruisers bearing four heavily-armed mercenaries roared into the area where Jumaah was hiding.

They then drove him him away to Erbil airport together with his wife and two small children.

“I have never felt so privileged, so VIP,” Jumaah said. “But at the same time I felt like a coward because I left my mother and sisters behind me.”

Jumaah and his family follow the Yazidi religion, which has been declared a form of devil worship by Islamic State, and he had flown in from Sweden after his wife had rung him to say that ISIL warriors had entered the neighbouring village.

“My wife was in a total panic, everyone was shocked at how Islamic State was behaving. I took the first plane there to be with them. What sort of life would I have had if anything had happened to them when I wasn’t there?” he said.

Luckily the rest of the family all survived Isil occupation, while Jumaah, back in Sweden, completed his PHD and now works for a local pharmaceutical company.

“It was a unique event. As far as I know no other university has taken part in anything like it,” Gustafson said.”
