  1. With the likelihood growing that the Saudi government was behind the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, pressure has built for severe, swift action. As President Trump awaits more answers and contemplates a response, it’s worth considering who Khashoggi actually was, what he stood for and why the regime might have wanted him dead.

    This is not to suggest that the killing of Khashoggi is justified. It is, however, meant to observe that characterizations of him in the media are not fully accurate. He’s depicted as a “reformer,” a “democracy advocate” and a “journalist.” Yet these are half-truths that obscure the political role Khashoggi played.

    Before anything else, he was a regime insider. He was a close associate of senior members of the royal family who were eclipsed by the new crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman.

  2. Twenty men have been found guilty of being part of a grooming gang that raped and abused girls as young as 11 in Huddersfield.
    The men were convicted of more than 120 offences against 15 girls.
    Victims were plied with drink and drugs and then “used and abused at will” in a seven-year “campaign of rape and abuse” between 2004 and 2011.
    At Leeds Crown Court, the ringleader, Amere Singh Dhaliwal, 35, was jailed for life with a minimum of 18 years.
    Other members of the gang were jailed for between five and 18 years but the court heard many perpetrators have never been identified.
    Details of the men’s convictions and sentences can only now be published after reporting restrictions on a series of trials were partially lifted.
    During the three trials, jurors heard how the men – who are all British Asians mainly of Pakistani heritage – preyed on young, vulnerable girls, one of whom was described as having the mental age of a seven-year-old.

  3. Israeli forces wound 130 Palestinians at Gaza border protest

    GAZA (Reuters) – Israeli soldiers shot and wounded 130 Palestinians during protests near the Gaza Strip border on Friday, the enclave’s Health Ministry said.

    An Israeli military spokeswoman said about 10,000 demonstrators massed at the border and that some threw burning tires, grenades and explosive devices at the troops across the fence.

    But the protest was relatively small – some of the previous gatherings included about 30,000 people, a sign that tensions that have built up in the past few days may be easing.

    “A prominent archbishop has told Italians they need “young people who come from elsewhere in order to begin a new history”, as the native population ages.

    Archbishop Gian Carlo Perego resides in Ferrara-Comacchio, an ancient settlement in the Emilia-Romagna region — long a stronghold of the left, but now a hotbed of rapidly increasing support for Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini’s populist, anti-mass migration League (Lega) party.

    The clergyman is himself described as “the most left-wing politician in town, and a courageous man” by supporters, and wants to persuade his ageing parishioners that migrants are Italy’s future, La Croix reports.

    “[Ethnic] inter-mingling is an inevitable reality and a response to Italy’s demographic crisis,” he claimed.

    “The challenge for Italy is to reconcile a country that is dying with young people who come from elsewhere, in order to begin a new history. If we close our door to migrants, we will disappear. I’m speaking about current realities, not just points of view,” he added.

    Like many mass migration advocates in the West, the archbishop was at pains to stress that “more people are dying than being born” among the native population — although it is not clear that an ageing society is necessarily worse than one in which over half the population are under 25, as in sub-Saharan Africa, or that an ever-increasing population is intrinsically more desirable than a gently declining one, particularly from an environmental standpoint.

    Moreover, Deputy Prime Minister Salvini has questioned whether a strategy of replacing native-born citizens with new ones from overseas can really be described as preventing “Italians” from disappearing in a meaningful sense, arguing strongly for policies supporting local people to have families instead.

    “I believe that I’m in government in order to see that our young people have the number of children that they used to a few years ago, and not to transplant the best of Africa’s youth to Europe,” he said at a migration summit in Vienna last month — triggering an extraordinary outburst from his EU counterparts.”

      The richest country in the Islamic world has been bombarding the poorest country in the Islamic world for two years and Europe has said nothing. But its belly and wallet are safe.

    “A gang who sexually abused vulnerable girls as young as eleven in Huddersfield have been jailed for a combined total of more than 220 years in the latest Asian sex ring to be brought before the courts.

    As with similar cases in a string of British towns and cities, the gang plied their victims – some of whom were as young as 11 – with alcohol or drugged them before carrying out horrific sex attacks.

    The court heard evidence from 15 victims during the trials and the judge said he fears none of them will ever recover from their ordeals.

    In victim statements the girls described coming into contact with the abusers after being bullied at school and said the relationship became ‘one of those things that you couldn’t get out of’.

    The pattern of exploitation of mainly white girls by groups of men of mainly Pakistani heritage mirrors what has happened in a number of other towns around the country, including Rotherham, Rochdale and Telford.

    The Leeds trials attracted protests by right wing groups and EDL founder Tommy Robinson, who was jailed for contempt for endangering one of the cases with social media posts. He has since been freed but faces another hearing.

    The abuse, which centred in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, took place ‘in cars, car parks, houses, a snooker centre, a takeaway, a park and other places’, the court heard.

    At least one of the victims attempted suicide and another had to have an abortion after becoming pregnant, prosecutor Richard Wright QC told the jury.

    The men referred to each other using a series of nicknames – ‘Beastie’, ‘Dracula’ and ‘Nurse’ – which were also used as their monikers during the trials.

    Ringleader Amere Singh Dhaliwal, 35, was jailed for life earlier this year and told he must serve a minimum of 18 years in prison by a judge who said: ‘Your treatment of these girls was inhuman.’

    Dhaliwal, who is married with children and converted to the Sikh religion five years ago, carried out some of gang’s most sickening abuse.

    He often took video footage of abuse taking place to share and distribute with other men. He also forced one victim to perform a sex act with a bottle during a supposed game of ‘truth or dare game’ that he organised.

    Another member of the grooming gang Sajid Hussain, known as ‘Fish’, went on the run from the trial held at Leeds Crown Court and was sentenced in his absence.

    He had been recognised by his victim in a shop after he had served her while she was wearing her school uniform. He was convicted raping one of the victims when she was just 14 years old.

    All of the victims were ‘vulnerable because of family and other circumstances’, the court was told.

    Describing the men’s activities, the prosecutor Mr Wright QC said: ‘The way children like this were groomed by men like the defendants is very simple.

    ‘They identify a vulnerable child who is socially isolated and not well supported by friends and family.

    ‘Then they befriend that child and make them feel special – whether that be by simply appearing as someone who wants to spend time with them, or by flattery, or by plying them with drink and drugs.’

    Girls ‘regularly went missing from home, causing great distress to their families’ and ‘became secretive and aggressive’ as they often came home under the influence of drugs and alcohol, Leeds Crown Court heard during the course of trials held throughout 2018.

    Judge Geoffrey Marson QC said: ‘These were planned offences by a large group of Asian men.

    ‘Having been plied with alcohol and drugs, girls were raped, they were trafficked to isolated areas or to houses for the purpose of sexual abuse by those who took them or by others.

    ‘When taken to isolated places such as the moors or a reservoir, if they didn’t comply they were, on occasions, beaten; they were told they would be left to make their own way back, children on their own, children late at night in isolated areas.

    The judge added: ‘They were taken to so-called parties at houses where there would be older Asian men.

    ‘Again, they were plied with alcohol and drugs, on occasion drinks were spiked and many times these girls were rendered senseless.

    ‘They would then be taken to a room where, one by one, men would go and abuse these girls sexually.

    ‘Sometimes no contraception was used, sometimes plastic bags were used as condoms; it was disgusting and degrading.’

    The judge added: ‘It is likely that many, if not all, of these girls will never recover from the abuse they suffered’…”

  7. Indian city changes name from Muslim to Hindu to fix ‘mistake’ of occupiers

    A city in one of India’s most populated states is having its Muslim name changed to a Hindu one as its nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government seeks to ‘correct the mistake’ made by Muslim Mughal rulers in the 1500s.

    Allahabad, a city in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, will now be called Prayagraj, a source from the area’s ruling BJP party told reporters on Tuesday.

    The city, a UNESCO site, has been given the new name of Prayagraj, the elongated version of its original name of Prayag before Mughal-era rulers changed it to the Islamic appellation.

    The name change was announced during a cabinet meeting ahead of a mass pilgrimage there in January 2019.

    Uttar Pradesh Health Minister told local media: “The city used to be known as Prayagraj since the beginning.

    “To those who are opposing the decision, how would you feel if the name your parents gave you was to be changed?”

    Energy Minister Shrikant Sharm hinted that the Allahabad name change is unlikely to be the only one.

    “It is the right of the government to rename any city,” he said. “If needed, we will rename more cities and roads. The mistakes done earlier will be rectified.”

    The announcement drew mixed reaction on Twitter, with some locals praising the move and others refusing to relinquish the name of Allahabad.

    Cavusoglu, in the Albanian capital of Tirana on Friday, said Ankara has formally asked Tirana “to close all the institutions that hold anti-Turkey activity in Albania,” considering them “a serious threat for Turkey and Albania too.”

    Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati said that “as a NATO member country, a candidate country for the European Union,” Tirana follows standard diplomatic procedures.

    Gulen, who denies the coup charges, owns a network of schools and businesses in Albania.

    Earlier this year, neighboring Kosovo secretly deported five teachers and a doctor back to Turkey. The deportations were criticized by the U.S. ambassador and students.”

  19. More than 60 people have been killed and 100 hurt after a train ran into a crowd near Amritsar in India’s northern Punjab state, police told the BBC.

    The victims were standing on the railway tracks watching celebrations for Dusshera, a Hindu festival marking the triumph of good over evil.

    They did not hear the train approach as they watched a firecracker-filled effigy of the demon king Ravana burn.

    Children are said to be amongst the dead.

    Spectators were watching the effigy burn, and a fireworks display, when they were asked by organisers to move back – towards the railway tracks a short distance away, reports say.

    According to eyewitnesses, many were busy filming the festivities on their phones, and did not notice the train approaching at high speed.

    English literature teachers in a large Ontario school board have been urged not to teach the American classic To Kill a Mockingbird because it is harmful, violent and oppressive to black students, and its trope of a “white saviour” makes its black characters seem “less than human.”

    “The use of racist texts as entry points into discussions about racism is hardly for the benefit of black students who already experience racism,” reads a directive to teachers in Peel, a suburban region northwest of Toronto. “This should give us pause — who does the use of these texts centre? Who does it serve? Why do we continue to teach them?”

    The memo notes that the racist slur known as the n-word appears 19 times in the book. “Though this is not the only way that the novel is harmful, it does add to the violence of the book,” reads the memo, written by a senior school board administrator.

    Black parents “detest the idea of their children having to read this novel,” it says. “The idea that banning books is about censorship and that censorship limits free speech is often decried as a poor reason to keep the novel on schools’ reading lists as its racist themes make it violent and oppressive for black students.”

  22. Paul Johnson set fire to a Methodist church and a Sikh gurdwara in Scotland because he had “issues” with religion and wanted to make a “political statement”, a court has heard.
    The unemployed 49-year-old admitted to two counts of wilful fire-raising aggravated by religious prejudices at Edinburgh High Court on Thursday, reports the Daily Record.

    Johnson had set fire to the doors of the Methodist Church and the Guru Nanak temple in the Scottish capital in the early hours of August the 28th, 2018, and admitted to involvement when questioned by police on the 30th.

    “The accused was asked as to his motivation for the fires and stated that he was looking to make a political statement, but would not provide further details,” advocate depute Alan Cameron said.

    “When asked whether this was religiously motivated he stated that he has no issue with any particular religion but his issues are with religion and God in general.”

    Elizabeth Warren’s 2020 presidential aspirations may have ended before they began this week thanks to her team’s bizarre decision to proudly broadcast the results of a DNA test that shows she may have had a relative 10 generations removed that was of indigenous American heritage. As Senator Warren was once promoted as “Harvard Law School’s…first woman of color,” the results seem to only confirm that she misrepresented her ancestry in her past career as a law professor.

    Not only has the decision been met with a blistering condemnation from the Cherokee Nation, but it has once again made her the butt of President Trump’s jokes.

    Lost in the laughing at Warren’s expense however, is a larger issue exists over how American politicians continue to treat tribal sovereignty.

    After all, if Warren had used her position as senator to serve as an advocate for the Cherokee Nation’s right to self-determination, her history of misrepresenting her genetic connection to the tribe would perhaps be more excusable. Say what you will about Rachel Dolezal, she at least cared enough to be an advocate for the African American community. Instead, Warren’s political record is one that has regularly promoted the continued imperial rule of Washington on land that is tribal in name only.

  27. Marsha Blackburn calls out ‘angry mob’ after restaurant that hosted campaign event threatened

    Republican Rep. Marsha Blackburn on Wednesday slammed the “radical left” after a restaurant owner who recently hosted a campaign event for her reported being targeted by harassing messages and threats.

    “The radical Left is out of control, and their angry mob is right here in Tennessee,” tweeted Mrs. Blackburn, who is running for U.S. Senate. “Tom, we appreciate your opening your restaurant up to us, and we hope you are treated with the same respect as you treat your customers.”

    Tom Courtney, owner of Courtney’s Restaurant and Catering in Mt. Juliet, Tenn., told The Wilson Post that he’s been called a Nazi, received death threats his staff has been verbally attacked ever since he rented his event room to Mrs. Blackburn on Saturday.

    “People have posted they love our food, but will no longer come to the restaurant,” Mr. Courtney told the paper Monday. “I have never in my life experienced such a thing. It’s scary.”

    Nancy Pelosi spent her Wednesday in South Florida, meeting with many of the students leading the anti-gun March For Our Lives movement, as well as other prominent Democrats in the area.

    But while the Democrats may have given them a warm welcome, area residents sure didn’t.

    At a stop in the Miami area, local residents, mostly made up of Cuban Americans, participated in a “flash protest” against Pelosi. The protest took place outside of a Democrat office where she was meeting with Andrew Gillum, who is running for governor in Florida.

    The video, recorded by local resident Enrique Tarrio, shows Pelosi entering the building while being yelled at by a group of angry protesters, calling her a communist.

    Senator Elizabeth Warren made big headlines this week by releasing the results of a DNA test which proved that her ancestral heritage is roughly one-tenth of one percent Mexican/Peruvian/Colombian — and that any Native American blood in her lineage is entirely impossible to discern. In the process, she managed to offend Cherokee Nation Secretary of State, Chuck Hoskin Jr., who explained that Warren’s effort to exploit this “useless” DNA test was not merely “inappropriate and wrong,” but actually “makes a mockery out of DNA tests and [their] legitimate uses while also dishonoring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens, whose ancestors are well documented and whose heritage is proven.”

    But because Elizabeth Warren is a creature of the Left and its slavish devotion to tribal identity politics, she has a long history of trying to cast herself as a member of an aggrieved minority whose victim status supposedly confers upon her a large measure of moral authority.

    She also has a long history of disparaging the free-market economic system because of the inequalities it generates. In 2003, for instance, Warren and her daughter co-authored a book portraying capitalism as a “game” that is “stacked against” ordinary Americans who seek “to provide a decent life for their children.”

    According to Turkish media reports, the Turkish government’s Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) gathered intelligence via its imams and other employees in 38 countries on the activities of Turks suspected of supporting the US-based Turkish Islamic cleric Fethullah Gülen, whom Turkey’s government accuses of organizing a failed coup attempt in July 2016. Diyanet reportedly requested from its branches abroad to submit their findings in time for the 9th Eurasia Islamic Council, which took place in October 2016. These findings were then reportedly submitted to the “Coup Commission” of the Turkish parliament (TBMM).

    The findings included photos of the people who were being spied on by mosque employees hired by Diyanet and detailed information on the schools, companies, associations, foundations and media outlets allegedly linked to the Gülen movement, which the Turkish government has since labeled the “Fethullahist Terrorist Organization” (FETO).

  34. New York Man Charged With Threatening Two Senators Over Kavanaugh Support

    A 74-year-old New York man was arrested Friday for violently threatening two U.S. senators over their support of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation.

    Beginning Sept. 27, Ronald DeRisi left more than 10 threatening voicemails for two different lawmakers—who were not named— according to the official complaint released by prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, CNN reports.

    According to the complaint, in one voicemail, he specifically threatened to shoot a senator, saying, “It’s a nine millimeter. Side of your f—ing skull, you scumbag motherf—er,” and then mentioning Kavanaugh at the end of the call.

    In another call to the same senator, he said, “We’re tired of this guy. Sucking tax payers’ money! Getting a free f—ing ride! How many more years you gonna do it? None! He’s a dead man! Nine millimeter, side of the f—ing head! If f—ing Kavanaugh gets in, he’s dead f—ing meat! Actually, even if Kavanaugh doesn’t get in, he’s dead f—ing meat!   36. Gory Details of Khashoggi Murder Complicate US Response

    As gory details emerge about the alleged murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the hand of the Saudis in the kingdom’s consulate in Istanbul, political and financial matters complicate any response America may be contemplating. At present, confirmation of the murder is all but a given.

    Politically, Saudi Arabia is an essential part of President Donald Trump’s strategy to isolate Iran and bring its mullahs to their knees. The kingdom is also a major player in the Saudi-Israel-U.S. alliance to increase American influence in the Middle East and sideline not only Iran, but its allies Russia and Turkey. Any response that weakens that alliance will necessarily give strength to Iran, Russia and Turkey and their dangerous union. It is doubtful the United States would be willing for that to happen.

    On the home front, Saudi Arabia wields enormous power over the U.S. economy, with the ability to wreak havoc on Trump’s thus far successful economic program. This is another risk Trump would not be willing to take when deciding how to respond to the charges against the Saudis.

    There are obviously details we don’t know and most likely never will concerning this story. One thing that seems clear is that Khashoggi was not the simply “dissident journalist” the mainstream media is painting him to be.

    We know a number of things about why Khashoggi came to be in the crosshairs of the Saudi political elite. Khashoggi was an outspoken critic of the regime. He was an adamant supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood and its Islamist political agenda for Saudi Arabia (which would mean an overthrow of the current government). He was virulently anti-Israel and fomented Palestinian intransigence.

  37. A Corbyn Government Would Be a Terrorist Threat to the Western World

    EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The intense public discussion on anti-Semitism in the UK Labour party has almost entirely overshadowed the problem of the huge risk a Corbyn-led government would represent to the Western world. Corbyn, a terrorist sympathizer, and various problematic associates of his would gain access to intelligence gathered by the British security services. How safe would it then be for other Western countries to continue to share high-level intelligence with their British colleagues?

    While hundreds of articles have been published about anti-Semitism within the Labour Party since Jeremy Corbyn was appointed party leader in 2015, the issue has scarcely dented Labour’s chances of winning the next parliamentary elections. This is due to the poor performance of the Conservative government in the Brexit negotiations. In the second half of September, polls showed more or less alternating results as to which party would win the most votes.

    A Corbyn-led government should worry the Western world even more than it should British Jewry. That is because of the largely neglected problem of the access that Corbyn and his unsavory associates would gain to British intelligence. With Corbyn in Downing Street, how safe would it be for other Western countries to share high-level intelligence with the British secret services?

    Following Massoud’s assassination on September 9, 2001, Belgian police captured and shot Dahmane dead while he was attempting to escape.

    In 2010, a Belgian court sentenced El Aroud, an al-Qaeda member, to eight years in prison for her involvement with terrorists.

    The Belgian court’s decision to deport El Aroud is in line with Belgium’s new migration and asylum legislation which went into force in May 2017, stated Belgian news outlet Sud Info.

    The law dictates the repatriation of criminals whose behaviors threaten Belgium’s national security. To Belgians, El Aroud is too dangerous to stay in Europe.

    Born in 1960, El Aroud is also known for her Islamist writings which she used to post on the internet in French under the name “Oum Obeyda.” Her posts tried to rally women to adopt her radical ideology.

    According to Morocco’s 2015 law regarding jihadists or ISIS returnees, repatriated Moroccan fighters typically receive sentences of 10 to 15 years in prison.

    The head of Morocco’s Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), Abdelhak Khiame, noted that there are approximately 1,660 Moroccan fighters affiliated with ISIS and other transnational terrorist networks who are still abroad.

    Some of the most recent jihadist repatriations to Morocco were from Iraq in July.

    The Iraqi government decided to repatriate the wives and children (under the age of 15) of Moroccan ISIS fighters after the terrorist group was largely eradicated from Iraq at the end of 2017.”
