American news discusses the Omar Khadr decision

This is a fantastic opportunity to get a definitive read on the Trudeau government.

If this money is transferred to Omar Khadr in a way that the widows of Khadr’s victims cannot access it should they win their current suit against him, then we know for a fact PM Trudeau’s ideology and motives.

If they money is held in escrow pending the judgement, and then passed to the widow(s) should they win, then this is a lot less problematic all around.

  1. This will tell us what the Trudeau government. is thinking and how far he will go to damage freedom in Canada.

  2. They call this sinister drift: “Socialism”.
That sounds kinda bland, kinda cowardly.

Gotta figure most of the money will go the lawyers who are most certainly ummah honchos. So it’s a “political Islam” bonanza, with deterrent heft for careless kafirs.
This has Muslim Brotherhood stamped all over it.

    Call it jizyah

  3. Predictably and understandably a divide between the left and right. There is something to be said for both sides of the debate, but given this is Canada, default liberal, the court ruling and the final settlement should not be surprising. While Kahdr shares responsibility here in the death of the American soldier,so too do the liberal but mostly Harper Governments of Canada. They really should have known better, and if they had acted differently, and taken a page from other western liberal democracies with citizens in Guantanamo,we would not be in the disturbing position of making a Canadian terrorist, boy soldier or not,Canada’s newest millionaire.
There are issues I don’t fully understand, one being the definition of a “Child Combatant”.By many accounts and definitions,a boy soldier is under 15 years, and Kahdr was by all accounts 15 when captured.I am still not convinced that the killing of the American soldier was a War Crime”,I mean Sgt.Chris Speer was a Special Forces armed Medic, and getting killed in combat is an occupational hazard, especially in a war,a risk we knowingly take,as do the opposing and armed Medic. That’s war,ek se.

  4. There is very little chance that Chris Speers wife and family will receive any of this money, and I am not certain they are entitled to any money from this settlement. They are entitled to the benefits of any American serviceman KIA.That said,it would be a worthy gesture for this young man who by his own admission is responsible for the battlefield death of Speers to share a portion of his large settlement. Now that does serve as a president of sorts, and that is the culpability of a combatant who kills or injures an enemy combatant, given that his behavior and actions are within the “Rules of War”.
It is interesting that General Dallaire who should know of what he speaks, believes Kahdr is both a “child soldier” and has not committed any “War Crime”.

    • Killing a medic attending a wounded soldier is way outside of the rules of war. Sorry. Khadr was also making IEDs with his tard pals.

A closer look at his activities reveals he is closer to a crazed psycho-killer than any warrior. Interviews I have seen with his family, since scrubbed out of public view, show the “anything to hurt the West” attitude of them. His father was a friend to Bin Laden.

You are factually wrong on this one Ron.
