…and central planning works so well, this should be great! Right?
Claim: European Union Considers Plan to Take Over French, British Nuclear Weapons For EU Defence
Discussions are ongoing at high levels within the European Union (EU) to assume command of the nuclear weapons possessed by member states for the purpose of common European defence, according to claims published by The New York Times (NYT).
While even organising a combined European defence based on conventional forces — ships, troops, and aircraft — has proven more than the EU is politically capable of and has been a major contributing factor to the impending departure of the United Kingdom from the bloc, the claims are that a common nuclear defence system have at least been considered.
H/T M.
Empowering a new EU military seems like walking into the opened arms of a power-hungry tyranny seeking just that: a force used to occupy dissenting countries with troops from other areas. This is precisely why the V4 have banded together–in an attempt to deny EU military supremacy.
This is a bad joke. The failing NYT blowing Federica Mogherini’s gas across the Atlantic to annoy our POTUS. Can you imagine what he says when he looks at Dhimmi Mogherini, even without her hijab? The failing EU.
– The UK giving Germany control of its nukes?
ha-ha-ha-ha-ha– France can’t even secure Paris. It can and does sell everything to everybody, including its national identity.
Maybe the elites should’ve thought twice before hatching ‘Eurabia, Inc’.
Wasn’t one of the supposed reasons for the creation of large bureaucracies like the EU to promote and even ensure peace and cooperation among nations, to prevent another war in Europe? I would suggest that we have ample historical evidence indicating that big – in regard to government and bureaucracy – is definitely NOT better. On the contrary.
The human impulse to exploit and dominate one’s fellows has always been a part of our race, and presumably always will be. So it must always be taken into account and perhaps the best we can do is to put in place measures to prevent too much power from accruing to any individual or group. The most successful such measures have been probably the US Constitution (and general system of checks and balances); the Swiss with their penchant for referendums on everything. And how about term limits? It’s not a new idea, but it’s a good one. And, of course, smaller government.
Oh yeah – and free speech. Lot’s and lots of free speech. Do not let the power-hungry grow their power in secret – bring them and their ideas into the light of reason and public scrutiny. Let them then be judged.
(Shakes head.) It’s discouraging to see the world, and Europe in particular, marching down the same well-travelled routes to disaster that they have followed umpteen times before. Yes, very discouraging.
If the French government decides to give their nukes to the EU the Nationalists will revolt and start a kinetic civil war to prevent this from happening. The idea of French nukes controlled by Merkel who will then surrender them to Erdogan has to be among their worst nightmares.
Good point.
take over all the food & water too mebbe’ eh ..
Bad karma all around. Solve your Koranist jihad problem first. The camel’s nose is under the tent don’t show him your women and your nukes.
Bad karma all around. Solve your Koran-ist jihad problem first. The camel’s nose is under the tent don’t show him your women and your nukes.
The EUSSR megalomaniacs want “the bomb”. Unbelievable. Just 10 years ago they still denied that they even had an interest in a EU army, and now they want nukes. Unelected, faceless commie apparatchiks in Brussels with nukes. This is monstrous! The audacity of these creeps is beyond comprehension.
The very fact that they are even discussing having a nuclear-capable EU army should be enough to send every thinking European running for the exit door as far as the EU is concerned. They have tipped their hand. They have revealed that their goal is power and nothing else. They want to control the world and they must be stopped.
