Asylum seeker ploughs truck into Christmas market in Berlin TERROR ATTACK: 12 dead 48 hurt (express, Dec 20, 2016)

Poland: Polish driver of Berlin lorry attack was ‘stabbed to death, shot dead’
Ariel Zurawski, the owner of the transport company whose lorry ploughed into a Berlin Christmas market on Monday evening, issued a statement in Gryfino, Tuesday.
He stated that the driver’s “last contact was at 15:00 local time (14:00 GMT) when his wife called him,” but that after that “she was unable to contact him.”
SOT, Ariel Zurawski, transport company owner (Polish): “Unfortunately the driver is dead. He was stabbed to death, shot dead. His body was inside the car in the passenger seat. His last contact was at 15:00 local time (14:00 GMT) when his wife called him. However she couldn’t talk, because she was at work. She said she would call at 16:00 local time (15:00 GMT), but she was unable to contact him.”
SOT, Journalist: “Did you receive confirmation from authorities about the circumstances?”
Zurawski: “Yes, yes. I mean, I haven’t received an official confirmation. However, I had to recognize the victim on the photo and I had to say that he was my driver.”

Twelve people were killed and 48 injured. German authorities say the body of the Polish driver was found in the truck, but he was not at the controls. Police have arrested a Pakistani suspect but are not sure if he was the man who ploughed through the crowd.
Zurawski said he had identified his cousin Lukasz, whose last name has been withheld, from police photographs that showed him with a swollen, bloodied face.
“The police told me he had been not only stabbed but also shot,” Zurawski said.
He said that after reaching his destination, Lukasz, 37, had parked and gone to get a kebab sandwich, planning to unload his cargo of 24 tonnes of steel parts the next morning.
Around noon, the two cousins spoke. Lukasz said he was hungry and that there were few Germans in the neighbourhood where he parked, mostly Muslims.
“We made a few jokes, we laughed,” Zurawski said.
Lukasz, father of a teenaged boy, had been a truck driver for some 15 years, working for his cousin’s company based in Sobiemysl near the Polish-German border.
After over a week on the road, he was eager to get home, Zurawski said.
Another colleague at the trucking firm, Lukasz Wasik, told TVP Info: “He was a good, quiet and honest man. He was hard-working and took care of the truck as if it was his own. He wouldn’t just give up the car.””

Greek anarchists claim to poison popular food ahead of Christmas
Athens (AFP) – Four prominent Greek and multinational food companies face the prospect of yanking goods from supermarket shelves during the Christmas holidays after a contamination threat by anarchists, police said Tuesday.
“Clearly there will be a withdrawal, the companies will be issuing the relevant announcements,” a police source told AFP.
A group called Green Nemesis on Monday said it had tainted several dozen units of products by Coca-Cola, Nestle, Unilever and Greek dairy giant Delta.
“We have appropriated products from the main supermarket chains in the greater Athens area,” the group said in a statement posted on an anti-establishment website.
“The products have been poisoned with chlorine and hydrochloric acid,” it said.

London police said on Tuesday they are reviewing their plans for protecting public events over the festive period after Russia’s ambassador was killed in Ankara and a truck plowed into people at a Christmas market in Berlin.
“The Metropolitan Police has detailed plans for protecting public events over the Christmas and New Year period,” police said in a statement.
“As a matter of routine, as a precaution, we review our plans after attacks overseas, and we are doing so at present following the awful incidents in Berlin and Ankara last night.”

A Russian diplomat has been found dead from gunshot wounds at his home, it is reported.
Petr Polshikov, 56, was discovered with a bullet injury to his head at his flat in Moscow’s Balaklavsky Prospekt, according to local media.
The alleged shooting came just hours after the news broke of the assassination of Russian ambassador to Turkey, Andrei Karlov.
Karlov was killed by his police protection officer who screamed “Allahu Akbar” and “Don’t forget Aleppo, don’t forget Syria.”
He was shot in the back by 22-year-old Turkish policeman Mevlut Mert Altintas in what Russia last night described as a “terrorist act”.

Islamic State claims responsibility for shootout at Jordanian castle: statement
AMMAN (Reuters) – Islamic State militants claimed responsibility on Tuesday for a shootout at a Crusader castle in the southern Jordanian city of Karak in which at least nine people including a Canadian tourist were killed.
An Islamic State statement said four IS fighters undertook the operation on Sunday that ended in their deaths. Jordanian officials have not said who they suspect in the attack though security sources said the perpetrators were Jordanian nationals.
Jordanian police said late on Sunday that they had killed four “terrorist outlaws” after flushing them out of the castle where they were holed up after an exchange of fire that lasted several hours. Security forces were able to release around 10 tourists unharmed. At least 30 people were taken to hospital.
Interior Minister Salamah Hamad said on Monday at least five suicide belts were found, together with an ammunition cache, automatic weapons and explosives in a hideout in a house in the desert town of Qatranah, 30 km (20 miles) northeast of Karak.

Syrian army says it will enter Aleppo enclave
BEIRUT (Reuters) – Syria’s army broadcast messages into the last rebel enclave of Aleppo saying it would enter the area on Tuesday, a military media unit run by the government’s ally Hezbollah reported, urging insurgents to speed up their evacuation of the city.
A rebel official based in Turkey told Reuters that only about half of the civilians who wanted to leave Aleppo had done so after the departure of thousands of people on Monday.
The insurgents would only leave once all the civilians who wanted to had done so, the rebel said. The ceasefire and evacuation agreement allows them to carry personal weapons but not heavier arms.
Late on Monday, Turkey said 20,000 people had left the rebel-held pocket in the south of Aleppo in evacuations on Thursday and Monday. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitor, said 15,000 had gone.

We can thank Jill Stein and her hopeless recount effort for bringing about at least some positive change in our election system. In the face of incontrovertible evidence of voter fraud in Michigan’s most populous county, the Michigan House passed a much-needed voter ID bill. Unfortunately, the Michigan Senate will probably not vote on the bill this session. Pray that they get to it in the New Year.
The bill is long overdue though it won’t fix the particular problem discovered during the Michigan recount. Here’s what happened: When state officials reviewed the Michigan vote tally they began to notice an odd trend at polling places found mostly in Wayne County, the heavily Democratic area where Detroit is located. At some polling places more ballots were cast than names checked off the voter rolls. The problem was particularly pronounced in Detroit, where 247 of the city’s 662 voting precincts counted more ballots than voters. The city was rife with broken seals on ballot boxes, a strong indicator that ballots were either added, removed, or swapped out. According to a spokesman for Michigan’s Secretary of State, election staff attributed irregularities at polling places in Detroit to human error. Apparently there’s a lot more “human error” in big corrupt cities than in other places.

For those who can find a copy on DVD rent or buy the movie 1776 it tells the true story about how the US Declaration of Independence was written. With one exception all of the dialog in the movie is take from the writings of the Founding Fathers, the one exception is at the end of the movie in reality John Adams told the South thst they had their precious slavery but within 100 years it would tear the nation apart. The writers and producer of the show thought no one would believe that he called the Civil War 100 years before it occurred.

Look it up if the Brits had bought and issued it the revolution might have had a different conclusion) was shot and killed. the sudden lose of leadership when several links in the chain of command had already been killed threw the Loyalists into confusion on whose orders to follow. This gave the Patriots the chance to win, which they did. Our other victories against the Brits were won by Patriot Regulars (Continentals) who were drilled into discipline like the Brits or Continentals fighting beside the French regulars.
In the battles around Boston the first one (Lexington and Concorde) were won by snipping with no leadership. The Battle of Breeds (called Bunker) hill was fought from behind barricades (the militia shown in this kind of fighting) although they ended up having to run away because they ran out of ammo. (That is always the weak point of militia that doesn’t have a Federal supply train to draw supplies at)
I could go on with examples from the Civil War but you get the idea and are probably bored by my blathering on about old battles from long ago.
When the militia unit has enough training or has been stiffened with regulars or retired vets who were combat branch they can and will fight hard. Given enough time on the combat line they stiffen up and fight like regulars. The key is training and discipline especially self discipline.
A good soldier understands the reason for the discipline and follows orders unless the orders are illegal or down right stupid. One of the medals that Austria use to give (and may still give) was to officers who disobeyed orders and won the battle. Good soldiers also know when to think for themselves.

Disorganized resistance like that can work up to a point but the loose undisciplined force is useless unless behind cover, and will never be able to take a fortified position. This is the reason Benedict Arnold failed to take Quebec during the winter campaign up north. He came close but in the end the lack of discipline prevented him from capturing the city. What you need is either regulars or trained bands. The Guard is part of the regular military establishment, the old State Militias were trained bands who were semi pros who with a little seasoning in combat acted like regulars.

Bring back the State Militias with the States being in total control. Keep the Guard but bring back the State Militias. They were trained bands that fought long hard and professionally in the Civil War, the Spanish American War and WWI. After that the Progressives got them nationalized into the national Guard and they are only nominally under state control. The idea of the State militias is for the States to have the ability to stand up to the Federal Government.
Makes no sense to the Ghost of John Adams to have a National Guard take the place of the State Militia. That’s just not prudent.

A gunman who shot three worshippers in a Zurich mosque on Monday evening was a 24-year-old Swiss man with Ghanaian roots and no apparent links to Islamist radicalism, police said on Tuesday.
The suspect, whom they did not identify by name, is thought to have killed another man in Zurich on Sunday. He seems to have taken his own life shortly after the mosque shooting, whose motivation remains a mystery, police officials said.
“He is Swiss and we don’t know anything about the motives,” Christiane Lentjes Meili, head of criminal investigations for the Zurich cantonal police, told a news conference.
The gunman from the nearby town of Uster had stormed into the Islamic center near the main train station in Switzerland’s financial capital and opened fire on people praying, wounding three men, whose condition was said to be improving on Tuesday.
His body was found soon afterwards around 300 meters (yards) away. He appears to have shot himself, police said.
Investigators were still puzzling over what set off the deadly chain of events. The man – whose last run-in with the law was as a bike thief seven years ago – had quit his job in a shop on Friday.
There were indications that the man had taken an interest in occult sciences, Lentjes Meili said, adding it was not clear at this stage whether he was mentally ill.
Two days later he is suspected of killing a man with South American roots he seems to have been acquainted with and leaving the body in a playground in Zurich.
The mayhem continued when he entered the mosque after dusk on Monday, armed with a gun for which he had a permit.
“We are still waiting to see if that person was targeting us or if it was a coincidence that brought him to us. Everything is open,” Saad Subaan from the Zurich Islamic Community Foundation told reporters after the media conference.
The victims are aged 30, 35 and 56. Two of them were seriously injured in the attack, a rare case of gun violence in Switzerland, while a third sustained less severe injuries.
“All Muslims are of course shocked that people praying came under fire,” Onder Gunes, spokesman for the Federation of Islamic Organizations in Switzerland, said before the shooter’s background became known.
“This would be equally shocking if done by a Muslim, Christians, Hindus or any other religious group,” he said, adding: “We all have to stand together for peace. This cannot be allowed to escalate.”
Switzerland, where two-thirds of the 8.3 million population identify as Christian, has been wrestling with the role of Islam as its Muslim population has risen to 5 percent. In 2009, a nationwide vote backed a constitutional ban on new minarets.

Swiss: No Terror or Far-Right Ties in Zurich Mosque Attack
Swiss police have found no radical Islamist or far-right motives by a gunman who killed himself after carrying out a shooting spree at Zurich mosque that wounded three worshippers, a top police official said Tuesday.
Authorities are still investigating the possible motive of the 24-year-old Swiss citizen of Ghanaian origin with a penchant for the occult who carried out Monday’s shootings in Switzerland’s largest city.
The incident had stirred concerns about possible extremist violence in the mostly peaceful Alpine country that, like others in mostly Christian Europe, has been wrestling with its relationship to its Muslim communities.
The suspect, who was not identified by name but had a criminal record for a bike theft years ago, had only days earlier repeatedly stabbed and killed an acquaintance of South American origin with whom he had been arguing.
“There’s no indication of any kind of terrorist connection to (the radical Islamic State group), or an Islamic radicalization of the suspect,” Zurich state criminal police chief Christiane Lentjes Meili said of the mosque shootings.
She said no links to any far-right movements were found either.
A Zurich city police spokesman said Monday that the gunman, dressed in dark clothes, stormed the mosque’s prayer hall and opened fire on worshippers, wounding three people before fleeing. The mosque is frequented by Somali migrants.
Zurich police on Tuesday suspended the hunt for the suspected gunman after a body was found in the vicinity, which turned out to be that of the assailant.
“It became quickly clear that the person killed himself,” Lentjes Meili said, without elaborating.

At least 12 people were killed and 48 more injured when a lorry driven by an unnamed assailant plowed his 18-wheeler truck into a crowd at a Christmas market in Berlin. According to witnesses, the vehicle was traveling at high speed and traveled the entire length of the market before coming to a halt.
Berlin police have reportedly arrested the driver and believe that the act was intentional. The man’s identity has not been released, but German media is reporting he was an asylum seeker from Pakistan or Afghanistan who arrived in February. A dead passenger was found in the cab of the truck. The circumstances of his death have not been revealed.
The attack bore the hallmarks of Islamic terrorism and was eerily reminiscent of an attack carried out by a Muslim terrorist on July 14 in the French city of Nice. That horrific truck attack left 84 dead and more than 300 injured.
The Express reports that German officials had been warned by various intelligence agencies that terrorists would attempt to carry out an attack during the holiday season. The British Foreign Office warned its citizens traveling to Germany to “remain vigilant.”

We expect members of law enforcement to protect us from harm, not have involvement with those who look to do us harm. We cannot expect that from Nezar Hamze, because, while he is a Deputy at the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, he is also the head of the Florida chapter of CAIR, a group with extensive ties to terrorism. This past month, Hamze led two banquets where groups in the hallway and people on the stage and in the audience also had well documented associations with terror.
CAIR or the Council on American-Islamic Relations was created in June 1994 as part of an umbrella group led by then-global head of Hamas, Mousa Abu Marzook. CAIR has been named by the US government a co-conspirator for two federal trials dealing with the financing of millions of dollars to Hamas. In November 2014, CAIR, itself, was designated a terrorist organization by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government. Many CAIR representatives have served prison time and/or have been deported from the US for terrorist-related activity.
CAIR-Florida reflects the same violent extremism of its parent organization. In July 2014, CAIR-Florida co-sponsored a pro-Hamas rally in Downtown Miami, where rally goers shouted, “We are Hamas,” “Let’s go Hamas,” and “Hamas kicked your ass.” Following the rally, the event organizer, Sofian Abdelaziz Zakkout, wrote in Arabic, “Thank God, every day we conquer the American Jews like our conquests over the Jews of Israel!”

Monday’s terrorist attack on a Berlin Christmas market killed at least 12 people and injured 50 others. Islamic State took responsibility for the truck-ramming attack, as recommend by the al-Qaeda magazine, Inspire, and similar to the July 14 attack in the French city of Nice, and countless car-rammings in Israel. Now Europeans feel what Israelis live with every day.
Earlier this year, Germany was hit by a series of ISIS-inspired attacks and failed terror plots. Despite that almost all the perpetrators were recent Syrian or Afghan migrants, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in the middle of a re-election bid, has stuck to her claim that there is “no connection” between terror attacks in the country and uncontrolled mass migration from Arab and Muslim lands.
Ahead of an election year, Merkel and her coalition partners also want to avoid another mass sexual attack — in Cologne.
Adding insult to injury, the Mayor of Cologne, Henriette Reker, is planning to put on a big show this coming New Year’s Eve in the city’s main square. After an elaborate year-long cover up, the city will be lighting up the crime scene as part of a multi-media show. “The City of Cologne has announced plans for a spectacular multi-media show in the area immediately surrounding the famous Gothic cathedral, close to the main train station,” state-run broadcaster Deutsche Welle reported.

Search warrant filings made public for the first time Tuesday provide a new look at controversial actions the FBI took shortly before the presidential election as the law enforcement agency revived its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email set-up.
The warrant was issued by federal magistrate Kevin Fox in Manhattan on Oct. 30, after the FBI requested permission to search emails contained on a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series laptop belonging to Anthony Weiner, the estranged husband of longtime Clinton aide Huma Abedin. The FBI discovered Clinton-related emails on the computer after initially seizing the device during a probe over Weiner’s alleged sexually explicit online exchanges with a minor.
The court filings unsealed Tuesday show that the FBI told Fox that the laptop was likely to contain evidence of illegal possession of classified information, apparently by Weiner or Abedin, although neither has been charged with a crime.
“There is probable cause to believe that the Subject Laptop contains evidence, contraband, fruits, and/or other items illegally possessed in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 793 (e) and (f),” an FBI agent wrote, citing a felony Espionage Act provisions for illegal possessions of classified information.
The records suggest Fox may have granted the warrant based exclusively on the FBI’s contention that in the earlier phase of the Clinton email investigation, “many emails” between Clinton and Abedin contained classified information, therefore emails between the pair from that same time period and suddenly discovered on Weiner’s laptop were likely to also contain classified information and be evidence of a crime.
“Given the information that there are thousands of [redacted] emails located on the Subject Laptop—including emails, during and around [redacted] from [redacted] account as well as a [redacted] account appearing to belong to [redacted]—and the regular emails correspondence between [redacted] and Clinton, there is probably cause to believe the subject contains correspondence between [redacted] and Clinton [redacted,]” wrote the FBI agent, whose named was deleted from the records made public Tuesday.
“Because it has been determined by relevant original classification authorities that many emails were exchanged between [redacted] using [redacted] and/or [redacted] accounts, and Clinton that contained classified information, there is also probable cause to believe that the correspondence between them located on the Subject Laptop contains classified information which was produced by and is owned by the U.S. Government. The Subject Laptop was never authorized for the storage or transmission of classified or national defense information,” the FBI agent added.
It is unclear whether the FBI informed Fox that months before the new emails were discovered, FBI Director James Comey publicly dismissed the idea of prosecuting anyone over the classified information allegedly exchanged by Clinton, Abedin and other aides on unsecured systems.
U.S. District Court Judge P. Kevin Castel issued an order Monday that the warrant linked to the Clinton probe and related records be unsealed at noon Tuesday, with limited redactions. The judge acted after E. Randal Schoenberg, a California lawyer who mainly investigates art thefts, filed a suit seeking to force unsealing of the files.
The newly-disclosed court records could provide fodder for both sides in the heated debate over moves made by the FBI and Comey in the lead-up to the Nov. 8 election, where GOP nominee Donald Trump narrowly defeated Clinton in battleground states her campaign expected to win.
On Oct. 28, Comey sent Congress a letter advising lawmakers that new evidence had emerged in the Clinton probe and steps were being taken to review it. On Nov. 6, two days before the election, Comey sent a follow-up letter saying the evidence had not changed the FBI’s conclusion announced in July that no prosecution of Clinton was warranted in the case.
In the weeks since Clinton’s unexpected loss, she, her campaign aides and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, have argued that Comey’s pair of letters led to a fall-off in support that cost her the election. Even the election-eve letter effectively clearing her had the effect of stirring up more attention to the email issue and turning off voters on the fence about supporting her, Clinton backers claim.
Justice Department prosecutors initially opposed the unsealing, but they agreed in a sealed submission last week that much of the information could be made public with redactions about an unnamed person, who appears to be Weiner.
Castel said that information in the documents referencing another person should also be deleted due to that person’s “strong privacy interest in keeping his or her identity secret.”
“The judicial determination whether to grant a search warrant, and thus allow the government to enter and search private property, directly affects individuals’ substantive rights,” wrote Castel, an appointee of President George W. Bush. “Documents that a court relies on in making this determination, such as affidavits, directly affect the court’s adjudication of those rights. … The common law presumption of access to the search warrant and related materials sought by this applicant is thus entitled to great weight.”
Prosecutors also asked the judge to delete the names of FBI agents involved in the Clinton email probe, citing their work in national security and counterintelligence investigations. Castel agreed to redact those names “at this stage,” but he called that “a somewhat close question.”
“The government has a strong interest in not compromising the activities of agents working in these sensitive areas,” the judge wrote.

“A new U.N. study projecting rapid growth in the Palestinian population should serve as a “wake up call” to Israel and the international community, a senior U.N. official said Tuesday.
The report said that without international attention, growth in the Palestinian population, particularly Gaza, will lead to an even greater crisis in unemployment, overwhelm a strained infrastructure and increase the lure of militant groups.
“We are on a downward spiral, especially in Gaza, and things are getting worse by the day,” said Anders Thomsen, director of the U.N. Population Fund’s office in the Palestinian territories. “If that continues, you can of course only imagine that this will be an environment ripe for radicalization and for the conflicts, so I think that should be avoided.”
The population in the Palestinian territories will double to 9.5 million by 2050, according to the U.N. study. By 2030, the Palestinian territories would need 1 million new jobs just to keep unemployment at the rate it is now, the study found. Unemployment is currently 43 percent in Gaza and 18 percent in West Bank.
It will be difficult to create new jobs to meet the growth in population, and unemployment numbers will likely soar, possibly becoming among the world’s highest.
“The report is a wake-up call for both Palestinian planners, for the international community but also for Israel,” said Thomsen.
Currently, about three million Palestinians live in the West Bank, and nearly two million live in the Gaza Strip, a coastal enclave….”

My take on the worlds economy is that one medium sized European bank or one medium sized bank in the Far East failing will cause a collapse of the worlds banking system which will collapse the worlds economy. The US with their required provision for bad debt accounts is in a better shape but not much. The worlds housing pricing is in a bubble as are the worlds stock prices and there isn’t much that can be done to deflate the bubbles without causing a crash. This is a result of close to a Century of the worlds nations using fiat money and the Keynesian economic theories, the coming crash is going to drive the entire world back to a precious metal backed currencies with the worlds gold producers in the cat bird seat.
Buckle up the rough ride caused by the Islamic Invasion/Conquest combined with the economic problems caused by Keynesian economics is going to make a roller coaster ride seem like riding in a kiddy cart ride on flat land.

He wishes to “lay the groundwork” for bilateral relations between an independent California and Russia. The embassy is not for dealing with diplomatic issues, however; it is intended more as a cultural center to educate Russians about California’s history, boost trade ties, and promote tourism.
