    “The former vice-president of the Maldives has been convicted over a plot to assassinate the current president.

    President Abdulla Yameen narrowly escaped injury when a blast struck the boat he was using to return home from the airport last September.

    His then-deputy Ahmed Adeeb was arrested weeks later and charged with high treason.
    He was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Thursday, days after receiving a 10-year sentence for owning firearms.

    Adeeb denied playing any part in the blast, which the prosecution maintained was caused by a bomb.

    The US Federal Bureau of Investigation, one of a number of agencies asked by the government to help with the investigation, said no bomb exploded.

    Sirte is the most significant IS stronghold outside Iraq and Syria.

    Earlier this week warplanes bombed IS positions in Sirte while naval forces fired missiles into the port, officials said. The offensive continues.

    The forces, aligned to the UN-backed unity government in Tripoli, began the battle to re-take the city last month.

    • This number surprises me. It costs Germany alone 93 billion in the next 5 years, according to conservative estimates. If we divide it by 5 (years) you get roughly 20/year, but still that is Germany alone.

    • I doubt they have included the cost of counseling the many infidel rape victims or the courts time and increasing muslim prison population, or even the halal meals they will serving them 3 times a day.
      How about the increased cost of health care for a community that insists on inter cousin marriage.

    “A 21-YEAR-OLD Muslim woman whose father planned to force her to marry a stranger on Skype has been saved thanks to a groundbreaking legal case.

    The woman, known only as Zara, was also told by her father she would need to undergo female genital mutilation (FGM) ahead of the wedding, which was to take place on the online phone service.

    She also said she feared becoming a slave to her proposed husband, who she had never met.

    However, the Wolverhampton woman decided to dispute her father’s wishes and sought legal help, becoming the first ever person to receive civil court orders saving her from the forced marriage and FGM.

    While the two proposals are already offences, her family will now be jailed for up to five years if she is forced to undergo the forced wedding or the brutal procedure.

    The girl bravely revealed how she was bullied and alienated growing up due to her refusal to wear a burka or undergo FGM.

    She said: “We would go to family gatherings and they would get up and sit elsewhere and refuse to speak to me.

    “When I started getting proposals, they always asked if I was circumcised. I would say no and the marriage wouldn’t go ahead…”

  10. Three Syrian men have appeared in court accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in a park in Newcastle.
    Omar Badreddin, 18, Mohammed Alfrouh, 20, and Mohammad Allakkoud, 18, have pleaded not guilty.
    A 16-year-old-boy, understood to be Syrian, has also been charged with sexual assault. It is not known if he has entered a plea yet.

  12. BREITBART – Child Bride Legally Married Under Sharia Law, German Judge Rules

    A regional German court has recognised as valid the marriage of a 14-year-old Syrian girl to her 20-year-old cousin, despite the legal age for marriage in Germany being 16. The case represents a landmark ruling, with the Federal Court set to adjudicate on the implications for the country as a whole.

    Among the hundreds of thousands of migrants arriving in European countries over the eighteen months have been a number of underage wives, some as young as eleven, others already mothers. But although most European countries stipulate that a girl must be 16 to marry, the authorities seem unsure what to do with young bride migrants.

    In what is likely to become a landmark ruling, the Oberlandesgericht Bamberg (Higher Regional Court in Bamberg, Bavaria) has this week decided that the marriage of a 14-year-old girl to her 20-year-old husband must be recognised as the wedding has already taken place, was recognised as legal in their native Syria, and was conducted in accordance with Sunni marriage rites.

    It had been asked to rule on whether the husband was the girl’s legal guardian in lieu of her parents, after the girl had been removed from an asylum centre where they were both living and placed in a centre for teenaged girls.

    Appealing a previous ruling which had granted weekend visitation rights to the husband, the local Youth Work Officer, who had guardianship of the girl, requested the visits be restricted to three hours a week to prevent intercourse between the couple.

    But the court disagreed. It said it could find no evidence that the marriage was a forced one, and granted guardianship instead to the husband.

    It also refused to draw up a visitation schedule on the grounds that, as her guardian, he is free to interact with the girl whenever he likes. And in light of the fact that the marriage had already been consummated, it further recommended contraception for the couple.

    The judge however recognised that the Federal Court had not yet ruled on whether underage marriages legally conducted abroad should be likewise recognised in Germany and that as such it’s ruling may be declared invalid, inviting the Federal Court to now come to a decision.

    There are no official figures on the number of child bride migrants living in Europe, but the number is thought to be in the hundreds. Although in some cases the girls have been separated from their husbands and placed in child protection facilities, in others, the authorities have been content to let them remain with their husbands for fear of traumatising them.

    “Minors seeking asylum are in a difficult situation where they have left their homeland, family and friends, and the partner they have travelled with can be the only person they know and trust in Norway,” said Heidi Vibeke Pedersen, a senior official at the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration.

    But charities have countered that line of argument, pointing out the sharp increase in forced marriages in Syria and in concentration camps. According to Die Welt, just 13 per cent of marriages in Syria involved a partner under the age of 18 before the war. Now the figure is around 51 per cent.

    Robin Classen of the Criticising Immigration blog has called the verdict a “scandal”, highlighting that the judge “openly and completely uncritically quoted sharia law, applying it directly to this case.

    “Therefore ‘only a marriage of a Muslim woman to a non-Muslim is void,’ in the judge’s own words, because Islamic law forbids this.”

    Mr. Classen argues that the case is a prime example of Germany importing a foreign culture through mass migration.

    “With mass immigration has come not only the sort of terrorism seen in Paris and Brussels and the sexual offences of New Year’s Eve, but also a completely different set of social values ideas,” he says.

    “Mohammed married his ‘favourite wife’ Aisha when she was just six years old. He first had intercourse with her when she was nine. This is not a minor opinion within Islam, within Sunni and Shi’ite Islam it is ABSOLUTELY UNDISPUTED .

    “Since Mohammed is considered in Islam as an exemplary and virtuous man, this moral assessment also applies to his marriages with several women and the child Aisha, which is why forced marriages of children are completely normal in both Shi’ite and Sunni Islam.”

    This is because, among other things, they kill birds and bats, hurt the environment, cause sleeplessness and sickness in humans, drive up fuel prices, enrich troughing rent-seeking crony capitalist scumbags, blight views, cause people to die in fuel poverty, harm property values, destabilise the grid, and inflate the cost of living – all while signally failing at the one thing they’re supposed to be good at, viz supplying us with the clean, abundant, eco-friendly energy which is going to save us all from “global warming.”

    For anyone prepared to do their research – as opposed to take back handers from the renewable industry, mouth green platitudes or get frightened off by the wind industry’s super-aggressive lawyers – all this has been obvious for years.[…]

  15. Interfaith service celebrates Ramadan in downtown Montreal

    For the first time in Montreal, the United Church of Canada held an interfaith celebration Tuesday night with the Muslim Association of Canada to mark the start of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month.

    The service began at 8 p.m. outside the St. James United Church on Ste-Catherine St. W. Along with music and communal prayer, at sundown participants broke their daily fast by sharing dates, water, milk and Syrian sweets with passersby.

    Rev. Arlen Bonnar said the interfaith iftar (an evening meal Muslims eat after their daily fast) was a bridge-building event to show the solidarity of the diverse communities in Montreal.

  16. Here’s an ugly footnote to Wednesday’s terror attack in Tel Aviv: The two gunmen now automatically qualify for monthly salaries from the Palestinian Authority.

    That right is enshrined in Article 22.2 of the PA constitution, the Basic Law of Palestine.

    The terrorists opened fire at a popular open-air market, killing four innocents and wounding five others. It was the latest of some 300 attacks these last nine months, which include stabbings, bombings, motor-vehicle assaults and other mayhem. The slaughter’s claimed 30 Israeli lives (including some Arab ones), and two Americans.

    And all the surviving attackers collect PA checks, as do the families of what the PA calls the “martyrs” who die during their assaults. One UN-funded PA charity even did a tree-planting ceremony to honor some of the terrorists.

  17. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu is visiting Tehran for talks with his Iranian and Syrian counterparts.

    Shoigu’s deputy, Anatoly Antonov, said Thursday, according to Russian news agencies, that the negotiations will focus on closer cooperation between the three countries in fighting the Islamic State group and al-Qaida’s branch in Syria, the Nusra Front.

    • Authorities in Bangladesh have arrested 37 people on the second day of crackdown aimed at halting a wave of brutal attacks on minorities and activists.

      Bangladeshi police have arrested 37 suspected militants on the second day of a week-long clampdown launched after the recurrence of attacks by religious fanatics, officials say.

      At least 1600 people were arrested after law enforcement agents began the crackdown on Islamist militants on Friday, police spokesman Kamrul Ahsan told reporters in Dhaka.

      The initiative started following the murders of around 40 members of religious minorities, secular bloggers, gay rights activists and academics since early 2013.

      Ahsan said 27 of the detainees are members of the Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh, an Islamist outfit banned in 2005 after carrying out attacks on public establishments and court buildings, killing at least 30 people.

      Seven of them are members of Jagrata Muslim Janata Bangladesh, another radical Islamist group, while the three others belong to little known organisations campaigning for Sharia in the Muslim-majority country, according to the police spokesman.

      The crackdown will continue until Thursday, Inspector General of Police Shahidul Hoque said.

      A police officer said that agents had seized a firearm, gunpowder and homemade bombs from the suspected militants during the last two days of the clampdown.

    • NYT – Bangladesh Arrests Over 3,000 to Halt Attacks

      DHAKA, Bangladesh — More than 3,000 people, some of them known Islamist militants, have been arrested in a series of police raids intended to quell a wave of deadly machete attacks against bloggers, minorities and others, the police said Saturday.

      The roundup began last week after militants killed the wife of a police superintendent who had been investigating the machete attacks. Over the course of the week, the police said, they killed five militants in shootouts. They were members of the Jama’atul Mujahedeen Bangladesh, one of two groups that the authorities believe are behind most of the attacks, the police said.

      Many citizens criticized the government for not taking action sooner against the militants, who have created a climate of terror since they began murdering secularist bloggers and others more than three years ago.

      Since 2013, bloggers, freethinkers, religious minorities, foreigners, gay activists, followers of more liberal strains of Islam and others have been killed in attacks carried out mostly by groups of young men wielding machetes.

      The government had previously arrested dozens of people involved in at least 40 such attacks, but until this past week had not carried out a nationwide crackdown. People close to the government said leaders were hesitant to clamp down for fear of alienating radical fundamentalists, who form a large voting bloc.

      “I welcome this special drive. It should have been taken much earlier,” said Shahriar Kabir, the general secretary of the South Asian People’s Union Against Fundamentalism and Communalism. The police believe Mr. Kabir was one of the militants’ top targets, and he leaves his house here only with police protection.

      But the leading opposition party, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, accused the government of using the crackdown as an excuse to round up opponents.

      “In the name of an antimilitant drive, the government is arresting opposition activists, including B.N.P. and other antigovernment people,” said Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the party’s senior joint secretary general.

      A. K. M. Kamrul Ahsan, a Bangladeshi police spokesman, said that the crackdown began Friday at 6 a.m., and that within 24 hours more than 3,000 suspects had been arrested nationwide.

      Five members of the Islamist group Jama’atul Mujahedeen Bangladesh were killed in shootouts with the police during the week, including one militant wanted in connection with the killing of a doctor last year and another who was suspected of shooting up a Shiite mosque during evening prayers last year, the police said.

      Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, speaking at a meeting of her Awami League party committee on Saturday, vowed that the killers would be hunted down. Ms. Hasina also suggested that opposition parties had been involved in the killings of the bloggers and others.

      In addition to local groups, the Islamic State has claimed responsibility for some of the killings on social media, and several attacks have been claimed by a faction of Al Qaeda on the Indian subcontinent.

  21. n spite of assurances by Beijing that ethnic Uyghurs living in China’s mostly Muslim Xinjiang region enjoy full religious freedom, government workers routinely block their right to fast during Islam’s holy month of Ramadan, sources in the region say.

    On June 2, China issued a white paper lauding “unprecedented” levels of religious freedom in Xinjiang, adding that “no citizen suffers discrimination or unfair treatment for believing in, or not believing in, any religion,” according to official media.

    However, several local government departments and middle or high schools in the Uyghur region have posted notices online in recent days ordering restrictions on the Muslim duty to fast during Ramadan, local sources told RFA’s Uyghur Service.

    “We have forbidden [ruling Chinese Communist] Party members, cadres, civil servants, and village officials, in fact anyone drawing a salary from the state, from praying or fasting during Ramadan,” one local official in Aksu (in Chinese, Akesu) prefecture said.

    “We also do not allow students or anyone under the age of 18 to enter the mosques to pray,” the official—Alim Abdurahman, a “stability worker” in Yengieriq township in Aksu’s Awat (Awati) county—said.

    Italian police are trying to figure out who sent a letter containing an explosive powder to Europe’s food safety agency. A bomb squad earlier this week blew up the letter, which was addressed to a scientist who works on genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The incident comes amid an ongoing and acrimonious debate over European regulation of GM crops and foods.

    DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — A prominent activist in Bahrain said early Saturday she left the tiny island kingdom after recently being freed from prison, the latest protester to go into exile five years after its Arab Spring demonstrations.

    Zainab al-Khawaja is the daughter of well-known activist Abdulhadi al-Khawaja, who himself is serving a life sentence over his role in the protests that saw the island’s Shiite majority and others demand more political freedom from its Sunni rulers.

    In a series of messages on Twitter, al-Khawaja said she had left the country. Her family confirmed she left with two children to Denmark, where she also has citizenship.

    • They are probably afraid that Trump will be elected and are laying the ground work to break with us. With the exception of this blog and a few others India is the forgotten front in the war and they are afraid that Trump will start to help India in their efforts to stop the jihad inside India.

      A nuclear exchange between India and Pakistan is very high on the possible nuclear flash points. Iran and everyone else and North Korea attacking various nations are the other two of the top three possible nuclear flash point.

  30. A militant group, called “Harakat Nour al-Din al-Zenki” or “Nour al-Din al-Zenki Movement” has reportedly captured a sophisticated Russian-made T-90S main battle tank.

    The group posted the image of T-90 claiming it was captured on June 9 in battles around the Mallah Farms in Northern Aleppo. The report says this T-90 had been used by the Syrian Arab Army’s Tiger Forces before it was captured by al-Zenki Movement units.

  31. Taliban gunmen have killed 12 people they captured in recent ambushes, including policemen and soldiers, in Afghanistan’s restive southeastern Ghazni province, an official said on Wednesday.

    All 12 had been abducted from their vehicles after being ambushed at different times this month as they drove along a major highway, said Gulam Mohammad Tahiri of the Afgan Army’s 203 Corps.

  33. A Pakistani Islamist, internationally designated a terrorist, performed a sermon at a mosque in Islamabad protesting the recent killing of the Taliban chief in a US military drone attack and calling for any drones entering Pakistan’s territory to be taken down.
    Hafiz Saeed, declared a terrorist by the UN, and who has a bounty of $10 million on his head, led prayers in the Pakistani capital on Friday, Reuters reported.

    He criticized the US drone attack in May that targeted the Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour and therefore demanded the Pakistani army bring down all of the US drones that happen to roam into the country’s airspace.

    “The US stands with India in their enmity towards Pakistan,” Saeed said, addressing hundreds of people who gathered at a mosque after the sermon, according to Reuters.

    “We want to request the army chief and make the air chief realize that it is their duty to shoot down any drone that comes into Pakistan and respond to it in kind.”

  40. Russian President Vladimir Putin said on June 7 that the establishment of a free trade area with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) could promote economic ties with Israel.
