Austria: Teacher called Mohammed a child molester: prosecutor investigates!

Original translation by Egri Nok with much thanks!

From Vol.At

Bregenz — A middle school teacher allegedly referred to Mohammed as child molester in front of her pupils. The prosecution was informed; the provincial education department now awaits the investigation.

A Bregenzer teacher is said to have described the founder of Islam as a child molester in front of her students. “Yes, there is this allegation against a teacher,” the provincial educational counsellor Bernadette Mennel confirms the corresponding complaint. The education department had immediately forwarded the case to the prosecutor.

They check whether the allegations are true. Due to the ongoing investigation, no further information on the case is currently available through the state school board. If the allegations were true, the teacher would have to face consequences. “Such statements are unacceptable,” stressed Mennel to VOL.AT. However, they would await the outcome of the prosecution, before making decisions.

The accusation that Muhammad was a child molester is not new. It refers to Mohammed’s third wife Aisha bint Abu Bakr.

She was betrothed to Mohammed at the age of six years, and according to tradition at nine years the marriage was consummated.

In the Middle Ages, neither in the East nor in Europe the marriage of underage women for political purposes was unusual. Nowadays, child marriage is illegal in almost all countries of the world, but is still practiced, especially among poorer families in the Arab world, and India. In 2009, because of comparable statements, FPÖ Member of Parliament Susanne Winter was convicted of incitement of the people (Volksverhetzung).

Translator’s notes:

1. I am not aware that child marriages were “not unusual” in medieval Europe, as the article claims.
2. Vorarlberg Online or VOL.AT is a tiny Austrian regional news portal, probably more coverage to follow in the coming days.
3. There are rumours there could be more behind this case than meets the eye, so best to wait for more information.

Eeyore’s notes:

What difference does it make that child marriages may or may not have been normal in the middle ages. So was the black death and I don’t see anyone raising fleas today.

  1. When nine-year-old girls have sexual intercourse with grown men they incur severe physical damage to their genitals. That’s one of the many reasons why everybody from here to the moon hates child molesters. Mohammad screwed Aisha when she was nine. Let’s just ask a police detective if that constitutes “child molesting”, shall we?

They used to do all kinds of horrible stuff in the Middle Ages, but the difference is that we reject such things while the Muslims still consider Muhammad to be the perfect human being who must be emulated at all times. That’s a problem… A bit of a deal breaker, really…

Let’s hope that they don’t bury this case with plea bargains and gag orders. Let’s hope there’s a good old monkey trial and the Holy Quran is revealed to be the Machiavellian bushwhacking manual that it really is…

  2. Hey, why don’t they bring in Sami Aldeeb to defend her. He would do an excellent job (as he has in the past) and is an authority on the subject.

  3. While the comments at the original source give a glimmer of hope (the people dont seem to be stupid), the original article itself is, in my view, highly contaminated by including a video in the middle of it, called the “Life of Mohamed” or something, (in english) and coming from an openly (dare I say “shamelessly”?) identified ” Islamic channel for the purposes of da’wah about Islam.”.

  4. Perfectchild’s note:
Ahhhhowwwww! Get off of me! You ain’t no Prophet.

“I needed to edit and correct this article because I’ve learned some new details. Initially, I believed what many Muslims asserted: Muhammad sexually consummated his marriage to the nine year old Aisha following her first menstruation. HOWEVER, after reading brother Sam Shamoun’s articles (1, 2), I realized that the Quran, the Hadith, and Muslim scholar’s writings state that a Muslim husband can engage in sex with a child-bride before she has her first menses. Further, Muhammad actually did just this – he had intercourse with Aisha prior to her first menses!”

    • I read (dont remember the source, that the story of Aisha was altered only after some disapproving noises were made regarding the age of 6 and so it became “Mohamed married Aisha when she was 6 but “ONLY” consumated (raped her) the marriage when she was of that mature age which is 9.

Since the hijab is to be worn by girls as young as from toddler age so as not to “seduce” the males (I refuse to call them “men”), does anyone think they would stop at “thighing”? I dont !

      • I was just reading Hamed Abdel-Samad’s recent book, a critical biography of Mohammed (and that the Committee of Muslims in Germany said they want to see banned): “Mohamed. Eine Abrechnung” (2015). Abdel-Samad writes on p.120-121:
“Apologists say, back then some nine year old girls were early in development so could marry and have intercourse. One can point out on the contrary that: First, Aisha herself confirmed that Mohamed from the beginning made sexual approaches to her, and did everything except from actually penetrating her. This is sex, too. Secondly: a nine year old girl is a nine year old girl and a child, back then just as today. It was not normal at all that a man marries a girl with six years, or with nine years.
We know of no single example in Mohamed’s world where something similar happened. His own daughters married as adults.”
Also, I have studied European history extensively, and it is true that underage minors of the nobility were *promised* to each other for political reasons, to make allies between houses; but not actually married, until in their mid teens. The comparison in the original article is just completely off, in my opinion.

        • @ Egri Nök.
Hamed Abdel-Samad is a very brave man, and so, of course he live with death threats. Do you recommend his latest book?

Thanks for doing all this good translation work. I also like your choices.

          • Thank you for your kind words!
Yes I can recommend it! It is a dense 220 pages, well written, and not a plain biography, but he provides context and discusses what exactly these stories mean for Islam. I think it is a very empowering read for anyone who wants to know what’s so great (or rather, not…) about that figure, without holding an academic interest in Islam. Apologists have criticised that the book is not scholarly enough, but I think (and I seem to recall Abdel-Samad said so) it was not meant to be. Who would read a scholarly 600 page book with excessive footnotes on the biography of Mohammed? I know I wouldn’t want to, thanks. But if you don’t know any basics at all, you have to rely on what “experts” and “Islam scientists” tell you to think. Abdel-Samads book is like a solid foundation, or a compass, to make up your own mind. And as far as I know, even though it was met with so much resistance, no one managed to make a convincing case that anything Abdel-Samad wrote was wrong, so I guess it is safe to rely on it.

            • I’m certainly grateful you’ve found a home here, Egri.

You bring so much new and valuable material. And – like our R i t a – you put things in context with insightful comments. Responding to questions and comments adds another dimension.

Let’s hope some of this info makes it back to the dark old Continent. My Russian friends are jealous; they had to make-do with samizdat.

              • Thank you Yucki! You are too kind! I appreciate this blog and everyone’s work very much, and I am glad whenever I can make a litte contribution 🙂

  5. The left has dumbed down the educational systems in the west to the point most people don’t have enough historical education to understand the difference between the Western policy of arranging a marriage for a child and then waiting until they are a teen and the Islamic practice of not waiting.

    • Besides all the outright lies they sell as history.
And it will only get worse. Who’s teaching the teachers? Better to learn nothing than to be indoctrinated by enemy propaganda.

We’ve been successful in getting McGraw-Hill to pull a full production-run of textbooks, but there are too many competing priorities right now.

  6. According to Islam the age for marriage is puberty , there is no numerical figure . When a male becomes able to see “wet dreams” he can marry similarly a female can marry after her first menstruation periods
Islam gives a simple rule that you may marry after puberty it does not force you to do so . If any Muslims are following their rules it’s their issue it is not your headache .
