The Roman Catholic Church is at the centre of a row after ordering its schools to teach Judaism alongside Christianity in GCSE religious studies – ruling out Islam or other faiths.
The edict was described as ‘very disappointing’ by senior Muslim leaders. Sir Iqbal Sacranie, former secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain, said the decision undermined Pope Francis’s message of greater tolerance between the faiths, and urged Catholic leader Cardinal Vincent Nichols to think again.
The Church’s move follows last year’s reforms to the GCSE exam. Under the new rules, schools are required to teach two religions rather than one.

Jihadis have hacked tens of thousands of Twitter accounts in retaliation for the drone attack that killed a British Islamic State extremist.
A group called Cyber Caliphate, set up by Junaid Hussain from Birmingham, urged its followers to take control of the accounts to spread IS propaganda. Most of the victims appear to be based in Saudi Arabia, though some are feared to be British.
In what experts described as a worrying escalation of the global cyber war, details of more than 54,000 Twitter accounts, including passwords, were posted online last Sunday.
A UKIP councillor was the victim of a sickening attack which his party is claiming was politically motivated.
East Tilbury councillor James Baker was assaulted on his way to a meeting in his ward Tilbury to hear about a controversial housing development.
A gang of four individuals spotted the councillor walking through the village and hurled abuse at him before throwing stones and bricks. The councillor’s head was cut open and police have been informed of the incident.
UKIP Cllr James Baker said: “It is deeply concerning that a Councillor is unable to safely walk through their ward to attend meetings to support their community without being attacked.
(Stoning people. That doesn’t seem typically British somehow. The article goes on to not describe the attackers or explain what the unwanted housing development was, showing that again, the ‘news’ media honors its job more in the breach than in the observance)
The victim had been on the High Road in Loughton at 11.30pm on Friday night when he was attacked in the street by a group of three or four ‘masked’ men.
He then had a hand chopped off and police recovered a large knife from the scene.
(The article goes on to not just give no information beyond that but make it look like there is none to give. The car, it turns out, was black. One wonders how long it will be before they can only describe cars that are white or off white. There is no description of the men’s accents etc which in the UK tells you a lot. Just that they wore masks)
(And once again we see that this is not about rights, as it hasn’t been for feminism for a long time, and black groups etc. but about a transference of power)
Two school staff members say they were fired for refusing to call a six-year-old girl a boy and addressing her by a new masculine name.
According to Madeline Kirksey, a manager at the Children’s Lighthouse Learning Center in Katy, Texas, her staff was told a six-year-old student is transgender after the child’s parents cut her hair short, Fox26 reported. They were instructed to begin referring to the student as a boy and call her by a boy’s name.
School administrators reportedly gave staff a handout to refer to when addressing questions from other students. […] Another teacher says she was also fired for raising concerns about all the confusion, according to Fox26.
EXAMINATION. The school management refused to intervene when an African student molested girls in middle school with sexual advances. In the end the student raped a Swedish girl in a schoolyard bush, but despite the protests of the parents, the school management has decided that he will remain at the school.
– We get spit in the face because we are Swedes, says a parent to the Free Times.
It was a Saturday in October as the two girls visited a middle school in Alvesta. During the evening, they were accosted by two African students attending the same school.
The father of one of the most vulnerable girls had already last spring found out that one of the Africans involved had attacked his daughter with sexual advances and groping. Since then, the father brought a desperate struggle to get the school administration to do something about the situation at the school with a very high number of immigrant students.
8. Zero Hedge article on US Prof. who also discusses how a minority of the far left are in more control today than any group ever has been. (My interpretation of his point)
In a time where college students are offended by pretty much everything, The Federalist Papers reports that one professor at UNC-Wilmington decided to cut through the rhetoric and let his students know that they aren’t the special snowflakes liberals and their parents would have them believe.
His epic class introduction has gone viral, and for good reason: this is the most common sense lecture to come out of any college in a long time.
Welcome back to class, students! I am Mike Adams your criminology professor here at UNC-Wilmington. Before we get started with the course I need to address an issue that is causing problems here at UNCW and in higher education all across the country. I am talking about the growing minority of students who believe they have a right to be free from being offended. If we don’t reverse this dangerous trend in our society there will soon be a majority of young people who will need to walk around in plastic bubble suits to protect them in the event that they come into contact with a dissenting viewpoint. That mentality is unworthy of an American. It’s hardly worthy of a Frenchman.
Let’s get something straight right now. You have no right to be unoffended. You have a right to be offended with regularity. It is the price you pay for living in a free society. If you don’t understand that you are confused and dangerously so. In part, I blame your high school teachers for failing to teach you basic civics before you got your diploma. Most of you went to the public high schools, which are a disaster. Don’t tell me that offended you. I went to a public high school.
(This reads a lot like the classic hoax speeches that circulate the net, such as the famous one attributed to an Australian PM if I recall correctly. But its worth posting anyway for its content even if it wasn’t given my a prof. Because its well written and serves truth in its content even if not in its origins)
9. Clashes in Italy break out between police and anti Nord-league protestors.
