Simultaneous attacks in Egypt’s Sinai kill 25

Boston Globe:

EL-ARISH, Egypt (AP) — Militants struck more than a dozen army and police targets in the restive Sinai Peninsula with simultaneous attacks involving a car bomb and mortar rounds on Thursday, killing at least 25 people, including civilians, officials said.

An Islamic State affiliate previously known as Ansar Beit al-Maqdis has launched several attacks against the police and the army in Sinai in recent years, particularly following the military overthrow of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi in 2013.

But the wide-ranging attacks late Thursday, which struck the Northern Sinai provincial capital el-Arish, the nearby town of Sheik Zuwayid and the town of Rafah bordering Gaza, indicate a previously unseen level of coordination.

    Hello there……its me again…….Don Laird

This is footage of an armed man entering a Dutch television station demanding airtime.

The weapon looks to be a silenced handgun.

No other details as to date and time……he is taken down by police at the end of the video.

PS….another police angle of the takedown

    • This one is the story of Douglas Bader who lost both legs in a plane crash before WWII and fought to get back in and fight. He made it and was on of Britain top aces. When he was shot down he was such a pain in the butt to the Germans they put him in Colditz Castle where they sent the real bad boys to.

      • Lovely to backtrack and find a fresh piece of candy!
Perfect, saving for the snow storm tomorrow. Thank-you.

Superbowl Sunday. (I love football live, not TV-processed junk.)

  2. What I find interesting is that attacks were coordinated and made against hard targets, that is against people who are armed and can fight back. It looks like the action arm of the Brotherhood is starting a guerrilla war against the Egyptian government.
