Quite often when mosques are vandalized it turns out to be muslims who did it to deflect from media attention of an attack done by a muslim in the name of Islam. In this case the name of the group and so on reflects a group I admire a great deal in France, Generation Identitaire, although the French group has done no crime whatsoever despite the police arresting them for singing songs about French culture etc. or holding a protest at the new mosque at Tours.

This strikes me as suspiciously Cossack in nature. A group of thugs schilling for the Turkish government, not quite ready to give up US cash and NATO authority.

Just once, I’d like to hear a Muslim take some measure of responsibility for anything. Just once, I’d like to hear one say, “I understand why people are suspicious of Islam, considering there is at least one deadly Muslim terrorist attack every day”. But, no! They always carry on as if they have nothing whatsoever to do with it and the only reason anybody has anything to say is because they are stupid racists. It shows me that they are all in on it because they all seem to come back with the same, suspiciously similar, pre-prepared statements.

The turkish clip appears at first to be a small demonstration who happened to find a western looking male and accuse him of being a US soldier but then these “prepared hoods” appear? Not disimilar to the hoods used on prisoners in the middle east and seen many times on videos.I think this was quite possibly a kidnap attempt.
Given the proximity and porousity of the turkish border to active isis units….
I can see no other lawful use for the “abu ghraib” style hoods! Also the had more than one hood in case the first attempt failed ….. This clip needs to get to Fox and other news agencies….
Re #3: Turkey’s Today’s Zaman leaves no doubt as to the meaning of the sacks put on the American sailor’s heads. Apparently there was an incident in 2003 in Iraq in which American soldiers captured some Turkish soldiers (or operatives) and made them wear hoods for a period of interrogation. See Hood Event on Wikipedia. The humiliation lives on in the minds of some (perhaps many) Turks.
The Turkish film “Kurtlar Vadisi” (“Valley of the Wolves”) was apparently made to right this “wrong” – it’s grossly anti-American and anti-Semitic. But this wasn’t enough for these “ultranationalists” in Istanbul.

The political excuse for this attack is irrelevant the potential for any hooded victims to be handed to other more radical groups as hapened with some of those beheaded by isis means if this attack/kidnap attempt is left unpunished it would allow more radical groups to attempt the same thing and then claim the same political excuse.Kidnap is still a very serious offence in the west.If these (presumably) leftists think they can pull a stunt like this so close to a war zone they deserve an express ticket to the big house.

This is all liberal rationalizing based on gut feelings.

The thing is, that Geert and Daniel actually had this debate publicly.
For those in this thing that deeply intellectually speaking, the whole notion of a ‘moderate islam’ has been a great impediment to moving forward in terms of policy and rational discussion on the subject.
Daniel Pipes is certainly on the right side of the overall issue of Islam and its influence and effects on civilization but his argument at this stage can be argued to be an impediment to moving forwards. So it is a huge deal that Geert Wilders straightened him out this concisely and this definitively in public.
