If evidence was dung we could fertilize the world: More Islamic horror links 3 Oct. 7 – 2014

1. EU walks out on anti-Israel UN debate * Arab states outraged * Hillel Neuer cheers “act for justice”

(Yeay Canada!)

2. Another speaker uninvited to talk at a university campus because of the exact same views he was invited to speak on. Yes, that sentence is what I meant.

3. Fascinating descriptions in this ‘Wanted for robbery’ item on CFRA in Ottawa. You would think Ottawa was now in England. Notice the one white person in the gang had his face covered. I guess that means he had no accent. What part of Asia do you think they mean? Is this the world’s first Japanese gas station robbery gang?

4. Fiery train derailment in central Canada

WADENA, Saskatchewan – A Canadian National Railway Company freight train carrying dangerous goods has derailed in central Saskatchewan in Canada and has caught fire.

The Saskatchewan government said Tuesday the derailment happened near the small community of Clair, which is being evacuated.

A highway has been closed in the area.

7. David Harris of INSIGNIS article on terrorism north of the 49th

President Obama began his administration by avoiding counterterror language likely to link Islam with violence. This reflected a civilized and practical impulse to avoid alienating Muslims at home and abroad.

But perhaps influenced by the demonstrable fact that President Obama, as former terror prosecutor Andrew C. McCarthy put it, “made Islamic supremacists key administration advisors,” this effort quickly got out of control. Now the White House fetishizes and enforces on its security agencies, a refusal to identify the doctrine underlying the bulk of the world’s terrorism woes: radical Islamism.

Remarkable, considering that Muslims sounded the alarm years ago.

“Obviously not all Muslims are terrorists but, regrettably, the majority of the terrorists in the world are Muslims,” wrote Abd Al-Rahman Al-Rashed in a 2004 Al-Sharq Al-Awsat article flagged by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

  1. FBI Wants You to Identify American ISIS Fighters (abcnews, Oct 7, 2014)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/fbi-identify-american-isis-fighters/story?id=26025141

“In a new initiative, the FBI is trying to crowdsource the identities of U.S. citizens who have traveled or are planning to travel abroad to fight with terrorist groups, possibly including a North American-accented ISIS member seen in a video online preparing to execute prisoners.

“In the video, a man whose face is obscured by a mask alternates seamlessly between English and Arabic in pro-ISIL [ISIS] pronouncements intended to appeal to a Western audience,” a post on the FBI website today says, referring to an excerpt from a 55-minute-long ISIS propaganda video called “Flames of War”. “Dressed in desert camouflage and wearing a shoulder holster, the masked man can be seen standing in front of purported prisoners as they dig their own graves and then later presiding over their executions.”

The prisoners, the masked man claims in the video, are soldiers from the Syrian military in Raqqa.

The FBI notes the man appears to have a “North American” accent. After the “Flames of War” video emerged in mid-September, FBI Director James Comey told ABC News that investigating the man with the North American accent was a “big focus of ours.”

“The FBI needs your help identifying the individuals in this video as well as anyone traveling abroad to join terrorist groups,” said the FBI post, which also noted the FBI has set up a dedicated tipline at http://www.fbi.gov/ISILtips. ISIL, or the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, is the name the U.S. government prefers to use for the Iraqi terror group led by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi that has taken over swaths of Iraq and Syria, whereas many news organizations, including ABC News, use ISIS for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria….”

  2. UN: At Least 1 Peacekeeper Killed in Mali Attack (abcnews, Oct 7, 2014)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/peacekeeper-killed-mali-attack-26028810

“A Senegalese peacekeeper with the United Nations was killed in a rocket attack Tuesday afternoon on a joint U.N.-French base in northern Mali, officials with the U.N. and Senegal said.

The spokesman for the U.N. mission in Mali, Olivier Salgado, said eight rockets struck in the city of Kidal, killing one soldier. He said the identity of the attackers was not immediately known.

A spokesman for Senegal’s army, Col. Abou Thiam, confirmed late Tuesday the peacekeeper was Senegalese and said two other Senegalese peacekeepers were lightly injured.

The attack came as the U.N. peacekeeping chief, Herve Ladsous, was visiting Mali after the death of nine peacekeepers in a separate assault last week. He recently told reporters that as French troops have drawn down in the region, the situation for peacekeepers has become “intolerable.”

Ladsous told a press conference Tuesday that peacekeepers in Mali will be equipped with combat helicopters and drones in the next two or three months.

In a statement Tuesday night, the U.N. Security Council condemned the attack “in the strongest terms” and urged Mali’s government to quickly investigate and bring those responsible to justice….”

  3. Australia Plans Ban on Foreign ‘Hate Preachers’ (abcnews, Oct 7, 2014)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/australia-ban-foreign-hate-preachers-26029658

“Australia will soon introduce a system to ban foreign “hate preachers” from entering the country and will attempt to outlaw the radical Islamic group Hizb-ut-Tahrir under proposed tougher counterterrorism laws, the prime minister said on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott said he was angry and frustrated that under existing counterterrorism laws his government could not outlaw Hizb-ut-Tahrir, which is banned in several other countries.

But under amendments currently before the Parliament, groups that promote terrorism would be banned. The current prohibition applies only to groups that engage in terrorism.

Abbott said he did not need new laws to ban hate preachers from traveling to Australia.

“By all means let Australians who want to say stupid things say stupid things, but there’s no point in importing troublemakers from overseas to stir people up and that’s what I want to see in place very, very swiftly,” Abbott told Sydney Radio 2GB.

“We should have a system in place which red-cards these hate preachers and stops them coming to Australia,” he added.

The government currently has the power to refuse visas on general character grounds.

Abbott later said there needed to be better coordination between security and immigration agencies to ensure that all known extremists were refused entry visas….”
