Canada votes for war against the Islamic State and more child sex-slavery: Links post 1 for Oct. 6 – 2014

This morning Lowell Green had his AM radio talk show asking callers for their opinion. As of 11:17 AM ET., just past the 1/2 way mark on this show, the most interesting caller was a woman who called herself ‘Anne’ who nearly choked on her own rage and sanctimony demanding that we not join the coalition. Like nearly all on the far left, and she left no doubt about her position on that map, she offered no alternative whatsoever. Only her certainty and moral outrage. I certainly hope that she doesn’t encounter any religious muslim who would treat her as they do given the opportunity, but if that does happen, I hope she has the good conscience to not ask for the help of any trained or armed person to intervene. The show will be available to stream anytime now at this link. Just click on Oct. 6

3. Some powerful evidence that Robert Spencer’s informant from the Oklahoma Barber’s mosque was exactly who he said he was.

4. INDIA – Kashmir – Up to nine civilians were confirmed dead and dozens injured as a result of open fire along the special-administrative city of Kashmir border on Monday.

Delhi has reported five civilian deaths on the Indian side of the Kashmir border, and Pakistan has reported four civilian deaths on the Pakistani-held side.

What triggered events remains unclear, with both India and Pakistan accusing each other of starting the firing.

A unilateral ceasefire between India and Pakistan was agreed in 2003.

5. Sweden: the new Donald Duck government

So far the only public statement the new government has made has been its intention to recognise the fictitious State of Palestine. But not the very real (and beleaguered) State of Kurdistan.

Here are a few reflections on this new government, and what drives it:

6. Islamist rivals in Syria find a common enemy in ‘crusaders’ coalition

The two most powerful Islamist groups in Syria — the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and al Qaeda affiliate Jabhat al-Nusra — have spent much of the last year killing each other. But in an interview with CNN, a senior al-Nusra commander says the two groups now have a common enemy: the “crusaders’ coalition.”

Abu Al-Muthana al-Ansari, an al-Nusra commander in Aleppo, said in a Skype interview: “We can’t fight on the crusaders’ side against a Muslim. Allah said in the Koran that ‘those who support them become one of them.'”

  1. The far left and their assumed moral superiority are doing more damage to the world then Islam, if they were the only ones that would be harmed many people would say let the Moslems win.

    • The left and Islam work hand in glove.
When the leftist goes too far, he falls off. Straight into the arms of the pirate Mohammed.

      • True but there are more leftist in the West then Moslems, although that is rapidly changing.

    • There is only one thing wrong with the article it is assuming this is an elective war in which we can declare victory and come home, this is a war of survival and we can’t declare victory and come home.

      • Declaring victory and coming home is a sure way to defeat and slavery, like WWII this is one we have to stay the course until clear unequivocal victory.

Federal authorities said Khan was arrested Saturday at Chicago’s O’Hare airport by members of the FBI’s Chicago Join Terrorism Task Force. “In what is the first reported incident of Ebola transmission outside Africa, a Spanish nurse who treated a missionary for the disease at a Madrid hospital tested positive for the disease, Spain’s health minister said Monday.

The female nurse was part of the medical team that treated a 69-year-old Spanish priest who died in a hospital last month after being flown back from Sierra Leone, where he was posted, Health Minister Ana Mato said.

The woman went to the Alcorcon hospital in the Madrid suburbs with a fever and was placed in isolation. Mato said the infection was confirmed by two tests and that the nurse was admitted to a hospital on Sunday….”

Turkey: NATO Has Plan to Defend the Country (abcnews, Oct 6, 2014)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/turkey-nato-plan-defend-country-25996572

” The NATO alliance has drawn up a strategy to defend Turkey if it is attacked along its border with Syria, a Turkish official said Monday.

Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz, whose country is a NATO member, said the alliance did that at his government’s request as Islamic State militants, who have captured a large swath of Iraq and Syria, are trying to take the Syrian town of Kobani near the Turkish border.

“If there is an attack, NATO’s joint defense mechanisms will be activated,” Yilmaz told reporters. “From the moment the incidents relating to Syria first started, we asked NATO to prepare for possibilities to make plans. NATO prepared a plan taking various alternatives into account.”

“Therefore,” he said, “if there is an attack on Turkey, NATO will bring about the provisions of Article 5 of the Washington Convention.” Article 5 states that an attack against one NATO member shall be considered an attack against all members….”

  5. Suspected Drone Strike Kills 4 in Pakistan (abcnews, Oct 6, 2014)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/suspected-drone-strike-kills-pakistan-25998658

“Pakistani intelligence officials say a suspected U.S. drone strike on a Taliban compound in the North Waziristan tribal region has killed at least four militants.

Two intelligence officials say two missiles hit the compound of a suspected Taliban commander in the village of Mangorthi, in the Shawal area. The officials spoke only on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

North Waziristan is home to local and al-Qaida-linked insurgents who carry out attacks on both sides of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

U.S. drone strikes are widely unpopular in Pakistan, where many consider them a violation of national sovereignty that also killed civilians. Washington has long used drone strikes to take out militants in areas where Pakistan’s army won’t deploy.

U.S. officials rarely comment on the covert drone program.”
