1. Rotherham child abuse scandal: 1,400 children exploited, report finds
Prof Jay said: “No-one knows the true scale of child sexual exploitation in Rotherham over the years. Our conservative estimate is that approximately 1,400 children were sexually exploited over the full inquiry period, from 1997 to 2013.”
Revealing details of the inquiry’s findings, Prof Jay said: “It is hard to describe the appalling nature of the abuse that child victims suffered.”
The inquiry team found examples of “children who had been doused in petrol and threatened with being set alight, threatened with guns, made to witness brutally violent rapes and threatened they would be next if they told anyone”.
(I haven’t seen a reference in this article about who did it. But based on the nature of the allegations I have a pretty solid idea… WOOPS! Spoke to fast! )
By far the majority of perpetrators of abuse were described as “Asian” by victims.
Despite this, the report concluded: “Several staff described their nervousness about identifying the ethnic origins of perpetrators for fear of being thought as racist; others remembered clear direction from their managers not to do so.”
2. Islamic State might have taken advanced MANPADS from Syrian airfield
Islamic State militants stormed a Syrian airbase over the weekend, routing the remaining elements of the country’s army from northern Raqqah province and reportedly seizing a cache of shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles.
The seizure of Tabqa air base, while not the first installation of its type to fall to militants, highlights the Islamic State’s gains in the region and the group’s continued pilfering of advanced military equipment, particularly the surface-to-air missile systems known as MANPADS, short for Man Portable Air Defense Systems.
(What a coincidence! The Islamic State manages to find the exact weapons they need to fight off or prevent a US or other air strike against them just as various nations are discussing doing them in Syria. Its almost like they are playing an advanced game of DOOM except with some kind of Cheat Code. Lets call it, America Mode)

BBC news was customarily vague about the social group that formed the vast majority of the perpetrators, and simply said they were Asian. I bet they were not Chinese or Hindus!! Hamas claims victory over Israel after Gaza ceasefire
Hamas spokesman says that the movement held off Israel’s army, what no other Arab armies have ever been able to do
Hamas’ spokesman said on Tuesday that the ceasefire between Palestine and Israel is a victory for the Palestinian resistance.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as well as Egyptian officials announced on Tuesday evening that an Egyptian-sponsored truce had been reached between Palestine and Israel after nearly 48 days of Israeli attacks on Gaza.
In a televised press conference from Gaza, Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said the Palestinian resistance – led by Al-Qassam Brigades along with other resistance factions – has succeeded in what all other Arab armies combined have failed to do: hold the Israeli army.
Abu Zuhri said that Hamas and other Palestinian resistance factions acted as guards for the people of Gaza during the battle, and that now they will act as servants for the people.
He added that the victory paves the road to the liberation of Jerusalem and the whole of Palestine.
The spokesman said the decision for Israeli soldiers to return to their homes after the ceasefire was issued by Hamas and not by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The ceasefire terms include opening all crossings between Gaza and Israel to facilitate the flow of aid and construction materials and extending Gaza’s offshore fishing zone to six miles.
