Kurdish leader: Iran first counrty to provide weapons
So everybody knows that the Kurds are the only ones with enough guts to fight ISIS, and what does Obama do? He stalls on arming them for so long that the Iranians have now beaten him to the punch and stolen all the glory for being the first ones to help the brave Kurdish fighters. Do the Democrats pull all-night meetings trying to figure out the very stupidest things they could possibly do? Why didn’t they arm the Kurds weeks ago? Why?????
Because arming the Kurds would make the US look good among the people who actually think about what is happening.
The French were going to, but apparently didn’t.
The Kurds are somewhat slippery. Most experts know they’re on good terms with Iran. So this gesture doesn’t come out of nowhere
They also have a couple of terror groups that attack anyone who opposes a free Kurdistan, this stops a lot of aid for western nations.
They certainly do, though one might invoke the “one person’s terrorist is another’s freedom fighter” with some justification here.
Not meaning to make a parody of Clinton, that depends on your definition of terrorist, during WWII the Germans called all resistance groups terrorists even though they were attacking military targets. These days the western military uses the definition that terrorists hit soft (civilian) targets but freedom fighters hit military targets.
Yes terror groups can hit military targets as well as civilian targets, but their hitting of civilian targets means they keep the name terrorists.

Relations between Sunni-ruled Saudi Arabia and Shiite powerhouse Iran are tense, and the meeting provided an opportunity for the two oil-rich nations to begin to thaw those ties.
The Saudi Press Agency said Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal and the Iranian deputy foreign minister, Amir Abdollahian, discussed “a number of regional and international issues of common interest.”
Both countries view each other with suspicion, and their relationship has been further strained by the civil war in Syria. Saudi Arabia backs rebels fighting to topple President Bashar Assad’s government, which is supported by Tehran. Riyadh also has accused Iran of backing Shiite uprisings in neighboring Yemen and Bahrain.
Despite their differences, Saudi Arabia and Iran are both concerned about the threat posed by the rise of the Islamic State militant group in Iraq — a country they both border — and they have both expressed support for Haider al-Abadi as Iraq’s prime minister-designate.
Rouhani has said he hopes to improve ties with Iran’s Gulf Arab neighbors. His foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, has paid visits to several of them, and the leaders of Kuwait and Oman have made their own trips to Tehran since Rouhani came to power.

The head of the U.S. African command, Gen. David Rodriguez, said Tuesday during a visit to Tunisia that aid would be for training, mine detection, naval craft and counter-terrorism exercies with Tunisian troops.
Since 2011, the U.S. has given Tunisia $100 million in military aid.
Rodriguez said the U.S. and Tunisia face a common terrorist threat in the form of al-Qaida linked organizations.
In July, 15 Tunisian soldiers were killed by suspected al-Qaida militants near the Algerian border in the latest of a series of attacks by radicals.”

“A historic building in the coastal Marmara town of Erdek that was used as a Greek school in the 19th century has been converted into an imam-hatip high school, a religious vocational school, after remaining idle for five years.
Erdek Turizm, a local newspaper, noted that the local authority of cultural heritage and the provincial authorities had approved the decision regarding the building, which was renovated in 2012.
Locals told the Hürriyet Daily News that efforts were continuing to open the facility this school year, which starts next month. Some also raised concerns that the historic identity of the building might be lost.
The building was constructed by the former Greek inhabitants as a school in 1879 before being turned into a school for fishermen.
It was used as a hospital during World War I, offering treatment to many soldiers injured at the Battle of Gallipoli.
The building, which was then turned into a normal school, served as the Atatürk Primary School until 2007, before being emptied.
?mam-hatip schools are currently a hot topic in Turkey, with a new regulation practically forcing families to register their kids in high schools focused on religious education if they fail to qualify for other more secular institutions.

“A Turkish man has confessed to the murder of his U.S. citizen wife, claiming she “provoked” him during an argument by saying she had an affair.
Economics researcher Esther Giovanna Parker S. was killed in her family villa in the popular resort of Bodrum in the south western Turkish province of Mu?la four and a half months ago. Her husband, a hairdresser, Bora S., was arrested after the murder and confessed in his testimony in the Prosecutor’s Office, Do?an News Agency reported Aug. 26.
“She insulted me and said she had an affair. We started to grapple. I slapped her and she attacked me with a broken beer bottle,” Bora S. reportedly said.
The confession included more gruesome details about the murder. “I took a knife in my hand. I don’t remember clearly. But I saw my wife’s intestines leap out of her body. I put my son back to sleep. Then I dragged the body from the living to another room. I put a cushion under her head, covered her with a blanket and cleaned the blood stains, so that my son wouldn’t see them. I waited by the body until morning. Then my brother, who came from out of the city, called the gendarmerie,” he added.
Prosecutors filed a lawsuit in the Bodrum Heavy Penal Court against Bora S., requesting an aggravated life sentence.
The couple had married in a Bosphorus villa in Istanbul on June 21, 2012 before moving to Bodrum. The woman’s neck was broken after she was stabbed, according to the autopsy report. “
