      • Originally started in ancient Persia, I don’t know all the details but I do know it started there before Christianity.

        • Probably a good idea to live with someone for a while so you can make an informed decision.
          But using some bogus fatah loop-hole to make it kosher seems cynical to me.

        • I agree, however the temporary marriages in ancient Persian were for several months to several years, the modern ones are for several minutes max. A legal fiction to get around the no sex out of marriage rule.

    Hundreds of Shia Muslims from across Europe gathered in Bonn on Sunday to mark 40 days passing since the anniversary of Imam Ali’s death. In Shia Islam, the 40th day after the date of death is an important day of mourning.

    As part of the commemoration, people took part in outdoor prayers and then proceeded to chant topless while beating their chests.

    Ali, who was the cousin and son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad, is viewed as the first Imam in the Shia faith, and one of The Fourteen Infallibles. Shia Muslims believe Ali to be the divine successor to Prophet Muhammad.
