“Pakistan’s military says it has killed at least 30 militants in air strikes in the North Waziristan tribal region. A statement said six “militant hideouts” had been destroyed in the Dattakhel area, some 40km (25 miles) west of the town of Miranshah.
Media access is blocked in the area and there is no way of independently verifying the claim. The army says it has killed more than 550 militants in N Waziristan since it launched an offensive in June.
It says more than 30 Pakistani troops have also been killed during the operation. On Monday the army said it had killed seven Uzbek militants in a shootout in the same area, just east of where Tuesday’s raids took place. At least two Pakistani soldiers also died in the gunfight.
None of any known leaders of the Haqqani militant network or about half a dozen other high-profile local and foreign groups is known to have been arrested so far…”

“France says that it is to speed up the delivery of weapons to the Lebanese army, as violence from Syria’s conflict threatens to spill over. The army has been fighting and Islamist militants from Syria for days around the eastern border town of Arsal.
A 24-hour ceasefire was agreed between the two sides, but reports say the truce collapsed within three hours when an army position came under fire. Fighting began on Saturday when Syrian rebels raided the mainly Sunni town.
They objected to the detention by Lebanese forces of an alleged member of Syria’s Islamist militant group al-Nusra Front. At least 17 soldiers have been killed in the area since the weekend, with 22 more reported missing…”
The fighting is going to spread to the entire middle east.

“Clashes between African migrants in the French port city of Calais have left more than 50 people injured. A fight which started on Monday evening at a food distribution centre was initially broken up by police but later continued into the night.
Hundreds of migrants live in informal camps in the Calais port, trying to cross into Britain illegally. French police have spent months trying to break up the camps, but the migrants say they have nowhere else to go.
The latest fight between Sudanese and Eritrean migrants was broken up for the second time once riot police were deployed. A similar incident on Sunday left about 13 people injured….”

“Russian criminals have stolen 1.2 billion Internet user names and passwords, amassing what could be the largest collection of stolen digital credentials in history, a respected security firm said Tuesday.
The news was first reported by The New York Times, which cited research from Milwaukee-based Hold Security. The firm didn’t reveal the identities of the targeted websites, citing nondisclosure agreements and a desire to prevent existing vulnerabilities from being more widely exploited.
Hold Security founder Alex Holden told CNNMoney that the trove includes credentials gathered from over 420,000 websites — both smaller sites as well as “household names.” The criminals didn’t breach any major email providers, he said….”

You have to read it to believe it. Not a too long reading, so if you can spare a minute or two… Are you getting the same impression as I do? Didnt “they” do something similar after the Bumghazi incident? They are not getting too explicit this time. It is just that soft nudge, that is supposed to do the trick. In the grand scheme of things all sorts of stuff happens all of the time, so this cannot be really a big deal after all. Such a defeatist attitude (whether explicitly stated or implied) is of course totally wrong. The more specific analogy they were and are apparently trying to draw one more time, is totally wrong too. None of those generals were executed supposedly by a friendly entity. Conversely, most of those ambassadors (e.g. Meloy, Dubs, Raphel and of course Stephens) died because of some Soviet, Muhammadan, U.S. entanglement (or some combination thereof). (That would at least in part apply to Davies, too, who was killed by some Greeks protesting the Muhammadan invasion.) Indeed, Maj. Gen. Greene is not the first fatality, but he apparently is (at least according to my knowledge) the first one murdered in an “inghimas” suicide commando operation. There is always a first time, isnt there…
