The carnage started when a lone gunman dressed in an Afghan army uniform opened fire with an automatic weapon during a meeting at the Afghanistan National Military Academy, located at the Marshal Fahim National Defense University in Kabul. Baghdad – Forty children from northern Iraq’s Yazidi minority are reported to have died as a result of a jihadist attack on the Sinjar region, the UN Children’s Fund (Unicef) said on Tuesday.
“According to official reports received by Unicef, these children from the Yazidi minority died as a direct consequence of violence, displacement and dehydration over the past two days,” a statement said.
On Sunday, fighters from the Islamic State (IS) jihadist group that controls much of northwestern Iraq took over Sinjar, which had been under the control of Kurdish troops.

(Reuters) – Italy expelled a Moroccan imam accused of making violent antisemitic comments during a sermon at a mosque near Venice, the interior ministry said on Tuesday.
Raoudi Albdelbar, an imam from San Dona di Piave near Venice, was accused of creating a serious disturbance to public order, threatening national security and promoting religious discrimination, the ministry said in a statement.
“It is unacceptable for a sermon to be delivered that is clearly antisemitic in character, with explicit incitements to violence and religious hatred,” Interior Minister Angelino Alfano said in the statement.
6. Iranian officials say they have armed Hamas for fight with Israel
Two senior Iranian officials told an Arabic-language television channel Monday that Tehran has supplied missile technology to Hamas for its fight against Israel.
Revolutionary Guard commander Mohammad Ali Jafari warned in an interview with the Arabic channel of Iran’s state Al-Alam television that Palestinian resistance to Israeli aggression is “endless and growing.”

A Green Beret that started in the Army in Nam once told me to be sure and mine the positions that are held by any native ally, and to keep a loaded weapons on me at all times. He told me this when it looked like I was going to be sent to Nam, I wasn’t (I didn’t try and get out of going the General in charge in Europe raised hell about people with my MOS being stripped from his command.) Mode of service, what you specialty was, mine was microwave radio repair (back when we still had vacuum tubes) with the secondary MOS (that everyone had) of light weapons infantry. Everyone has the secondary of light weapons infantry even when we didn’t get any infantry training.
