SAUDI ARABIA -Man wearing strange clothes in Makkah held
Security men in the sacred Saudi town of Makkah arrested a man wearing strange clothes inside the Grand Mosque, saying his costume detracted worshippers.
Many curious men had left their prayers at the mosque and surrounded the man to take a close look at his apparel, prompting the mosque’s security men to intervene.
“He was told to go and change his clothes because they are distracting the worshippers from their prayers…he left but returned with the same clothes,” Sada daily.
It said police arrested the bearded man for interrogation after he entered the mosque for the second time with the strange costume.

HORRIFIED Western Sydney shoppers watched yesterday as a man allegedly plunged a knife several times into his girlfriend’s former boyfriend in a packed Westfield Parramatta shopping centre.
The terrifying scenes played out just outside the front of Myer’s cosmetics section on level four at 10.30am.
Witnesses said the 35-year-old Iranian man approached the victim, 40, brandishing a large knife, about the size of a machete, before allegedly stabbing him several times.
Shoppers were heard screaming outside the busy department store with one woman yelling: “He’s killing him, he’s killing him!”
Leaving the knife in the man’s chest, the alleged killer calmly removed his own shirt, lit a cigarette and made a mobile phone call as he waited for police, whom he then taunted.
“He kept plunging the knife in his chest, in and out, and paced up and down the shopping centre screaming at police,” a witness said, adding that the man was stabbed three to four times.

SAUDI ARABIA Pilgrims complain of Zamzam water shortage in Makkah
Pilgrims and visitors are becoming hard-pressed to find bottled Zamzam water with the influx of worshippers flocking to the Grand Mosque during Ramadan and the lack of availability at points of sale.
While Zamzam water, which comes from the Zamzam well at Makkah, is available in abundance in the coolers inside the mosque, pilgrims are unable to find bottled Zamzam water because the only sale point is located in a district that is not frequented by foreign pilgrims.

The quota, however, is reduced during the peak seasons of Ramadan and Haj.
Saleh M. Sulaimi, a Saudi national, warned that a black market for Zamam water is emerging in the absence of points of sale around the Grand Mosque and in parking and public places.
Inspection squads from the Makkah Municipality and Commerce Ministry recently seized thousands of fake Zamzam water bottles.
Pilgrims can also purchase Zamzam water at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and the airport in Madinah, even though other nearby outlets are limited to selling a five-liter bottle per person.
“I managed to purchase a 10-liter quantity for SR35 at the airport in Jeddah,” said Mohammed Irshad Ali Parvez, an Indian expatriate.

‘Poisonous’ drink
A BBC investigation discovered “Zam Zam” water was being sold by Muslim bookshops in Wandsworth, south-west London, and Upton Park, east London, as well as in Luton, Bedfordshire.
“The water is poisonous, particularly because of the high levels of arsenic, which is a carcinogen,” said Dr Duncan Campbell, president of the Association of Public Analysts.
