“Three people have been killed and several wounded in two explosions in the Kenyan coastal city of Mombasa, police say. In the deadliest attack, a grenade was reportedly thrown in a bus that had just arrived from Nairobi. The other blast happened at a bar near a hotel in the Nyali beach area. There are no reports of casualties there. Kenya has been hit by a spate of attacks blamed by the government on Somali Islamist militants…”

  2. VICE NEWS – UKRAINE – Missing Militia Men Cause Chaos
On the morning of May 1, a pro-Russia militia guard post on the outskirts of Krasnoarmeysk was attacked by Ukrainian forces (reportedly Right Sector members) — taking 11 local militia men with them.

Soon after, a crowd from Krasnoarmeysk gathered in front of a Right Sector base, where they tried to find out about their friends’ fate. Having no luck, the crowd decided to return to Krasnoarmeysk, and storm the local police building, to show their protest towards police negligence. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.

  3. Arun,
Sometimes it seems like Raymond makes this stuff up, it’s so nuts. Like vintage tall tales by Margaret Mead.
Oh I believe it by now, but as yet I’m one of a tiny minority. Does the Court know that an oath sworn by a Muslim is worthless? Does your pretty 11-year old niece Tilly understand why friendly bipedal savages see her as nothing more than easy meat?

  4. BBC NEWS – Odessa detainees freed as police HQ attacked

Pro-Russian activists have attacked the police headquarters in Ukraine’s southern city of Odessa, forcing the release of several people held over deadly violence two days ago.

Hundreds of people descended on the police headquarters on Sunday afternoon in an initially peaceful protest calling for the released of those detained.

“We’ve gathered here in a protest against the illegal government and to get our guys released, citizens of Odessa”, said one woman.

“They call us separatists and pro-Russians, but we’re just ordinary Russian Odessa citizens, we’ve actually always been more Russian.”

A number of detainees were then released by the police, apparently in an attempt to pacify the crowds. Reuters, quoting police sources, put the number freed at 30. The interior ministry, in a statement quoted by the Associated Press, said 67 people were released.

Lockheed Martin is on the lookout for acquisition deals and expects the crisis in Ukraine to boost sales of its missile defense system MEADS, the company’s chief executive told German weekly paper Welt am Sonntag.

“We see strong demand for defense systems in the world. Here in Europe it is for missile defense systems. Many of our NATO partners are also looking at our F-35 fighter jet programme,” Marilyn Hewson, company CEO, was quoted as saying.

Across the world there are around 20 new clients for its Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS) Hewson told the paper.
