Worldwide travel ban on Pakistanis recommended

ISLAMABAD: The Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) has recommended the imposition of international travel restrictions on every child or adult travelling out of polio-endemic Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria so that they do not carry the risk of polio with them to imperil the hard-earned status of countries that are now free of the crippling virus.

“No country should allow a citizen from any endemic polio state to cross their border without a valid vaccination certificate,” recommends the sixth IMB report, which has just been released. The Board was convened at the request of the World Health Assembly to monitor and guide the progress of the GPEI’s 2010-12 Strategic Plan. This plan is aimed at interrupting polio transmission globally by the end of 2012, a target which in spite of appearing closer than ever before, is still far from being achieved.

  1. Never mind the polio, how about the Islamic Jihad? Polls taken in Pakistan reveal an alarming number of Taliban supporters among the ordinary population. Why would any sane country take the chance of allowing a Pakistani within their borders when they know that there is such a good chance that the person is sympathetic to Islamic terrorism? What the world needs is a worldwide Pakistanis travel ban – year ’round. Hell, why not go ahead and make it a worldwide Muslim travel ban? Why can’t they take Muslim-only flights to Muslim-only countries? Let them travel to Bangladesh, Somalia, Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, Iraq, and Timbuktu. There are lots of lovely places for them to go… Chad’s nice…Libya. No end of places…How about Yemen?

  2. This is a start, as if any of our spineless politicians would run the risk of being called raicist by dissallowing paki’s only. I detect the imposition on the entire population of the need to display vaccination certificates.
    Next they’ll be stopping black africans riddled with HIV from coming into the country and infecting people.
    What ever next?

  3. I’m all for a ban on Pakistani’s travelling. The same goes for Bangladeshis, Saudis, Somalis, Afghans and Iraqis. Let them stay in their own countries and not come over here.We don’t need them.

  4. ban for a millenium – isolate them – cutt off internet, cut off phone lines. cut off everything from the other parts of world to these countries – especially pakistan and bangaldesh ….. these guy partitioned india to 3 pieces for they profess superior religion – hinuds hate them for digest our 12000 yr old country … but day will come that our hindus will spring back to original glory
