EU to Poland: artists should be free to ‘shock’

Yet another in the growing list of reasons to scrap the European Union. On the one hand, they are (in my opinion correctly) admonishing Poland for arresting people for blasphemy of the Catholic Church, while on the other, they produce litany after litany of documents on ‘Islamophobia’ and protection for Islam. It is pretty easy to see which way this is going. Either say nothing or apply your standards equally.

It wasn’t long ago that the EU actually buried a documentary they themselves made on abuse of women in Afghanistan because it offended Muslims. Yet they insist Poland adhere to a radically different standard when it comes to their traditional culture and religion.

EU to Poland: artists should be free to ‘shock’

BRUSSELS – The European Commission has said that Poland’s prosecution of a rock group for “blasphemy” is against European values.

It said on Wednesday (31 October) in a written statement for EUobserver that “national blasphemy laws are a matter for the domestic legal order of the member states.”

But it added that EU countries must respect international pacts.

It cited the European Convention of Human Rights, a Poland-signatory treaty attached to the Strasbourg-based rights watchdog, the Council of Europe, on freedom of expression.

  1. According to Liberals, this is entirely just. Christianity is the oppressive religion of the dominant majority, Islam is the oppressed religion of the oppressed minority. Understand Liberalism, or don’t at your own peril.

  2. The EU is run by far left Marxist, they think nothing about having a double standard, traditional Christianity opposed communism in most nations so it has to be destroyed.

  3. I HATE this concept of “European values” in this context. What about “POLISH” values, or is Poland not a country with its own distinct culture anymore? WHAT A JOKE! Poland, you need to leave the EU now. It will only submerge you once more in the horrors of communism.
