A court in France’s northern province of Lille sentenced a fully-covered 18-year-old woman to 6 months in prison on Oct.30 for refusing to present her identity card to police, reported AFP.

The woman, who wasn’t identified in reports, refused to show her identity card to police, telling them she didn’t have time before attempting to escape. The woman kicked police officers who followed and eventually caught her.

The woman was convicted of willful violence, outrage, rebellion and incitement to riot and was issued a sentence two times longer than expected. The prosecutor had originally demanded a 3 month prison sentence.

  1. The streets of London are not being besieged by women in face veils. How many women in niqaab were burning down people’s houses and businesses? When was the last time you went on a bus and got a torrent of abuse from a young woman in a niqaab?

According to Home Office guidelines “all persons arriving in the United Kingdom must satisfy an immigration officer as to their nationality and identity.

“Where there are sensitive or cultural reasons why it is not possible for a person to remove a veil or other garment at the immigration control, they will be taken to a private area where, in the case of a woman, a female officer will ask them to lift their veil so that their identity can be verified.”

Veiled Muslim women are certainly not exempt from identity checks according to the regulations. A recent study by researchers at Queen Mary College found that the criminalisation of face-veils in Europe had been set against the context of a “’backlash’ against multiculturalism” and the place of Islam in Europe.

  2. The law supersedes religion, even your islam and it’s against the law to veil yourself in public in France, period.

I wish we had the same laws here so we wouldn’t have to witness the slave sacks in public.

  3. I somewhat agree with Iftikhar. Accusing Muslims of oppressing their women, and then oppressing the same is just as inconsistent as charging the West with oppressing its women, and then harassing the oppressed women of the West.
It makes more sense oppress the male Muslims.

  4. IA. You don’t often get abuse from women in niqabs because their men do a more than adequate job of abusing the indigenous populations on their behalf (particularly young, non-Muslim girls it seems). However, note the Somali girls who hospitalised a “white slag” because they were drunk of all things (and got off scot free whereas indigenous abusers of foreigners are incarcerated).

In France, it is against the law to cover one’s face in public and, regardless of your feelings on the matter, you are as subject to the law as any other French citizen in France. Furthermore, given the propensity of your folk to use the niqab or birka to conceal identities whilst committing crimes in their host country, do you find it any surprise that non-Muslim countries should make such laws?

Where do your folk get off on telling people in their own country that they cannot sell pork meat at market? Who’s country do you think it is? Actually, don’t tell me that because it is obvious who’s country you believe France is.

There really IS NO PLACE for Islam in Europe so it is as natural the indigenous should want to rid themselves of it as it is for the human body to rid itself of, say, Smallpox, and unfortunately just as difficult.

  5. I am against a veiled moslem woman checking anyone of us nonbelievers because, first and foremost it is very intimidating, scary, rude and caused confusion for us nonbelievers woman travellers. A moslems veiled woman in eg Dubai, who subjected us nonbelievers women to such inhumanity in their predominanlty moslem country meant that their moslems women are very capable of being abusive too.

  6. The problem is Islam already have a very bad record of alienating many of us disadvantaged nonbelievers and hazardous to many of us nonbelievers who rather not have Islam intruding into every aspects of our nonbelievers life..

  7. Iftikhar Ahmad If there is a backlash, muslims brought it on themselves. They have outworn their welcome with nonstop bleating and whining about being offended by everything western. and their arrogant demands for special treatments and Sharia Law, their insistence on remaining separatist and on wearing clothing that belongs in in the deserts or third world countries of the middle east
    .
We have cultural sensitivities too Mr Ahmend, and we’ve had our fill of them being abused by muslims insulting our culture and shoving Islam down our throats. If muslims don’t like living in western societies they are free to leave, and the sooner the better.

Oogenhand I disagree with your reasoning If a slave embraces his slavery and rejects freedom, wouldn’t you criticise such brainwashed thinking and if necessary use the law to encourage them to embrace freedom instead?

The slave who enjoys his slavery undermines the efforts of other slaves who yearn for freedom
and most covered women have not chosen freely to be covered, they have been forced to dress that way by patriarchal cultural norms or violence and intimidation.

Only a minority of brainwashed zealots would willingly sacrifice their humanity to become a walking shroud out of slavish devotion to some mythical sky fairy

  8. All this trouble, apart from the huge the internal security problem, is a consequence of Muslims in tghe West. For the good of all, Muslims included, it is better that we live apart, then drift to a situation of civil war, as happened in Bosnia, and is happening in Burma. Or for that metter anywhere where Muslims become over 5^% of the population of that country.

  9. “telling them she didn’t have time”

in other words, “I don’t respect your authority, I don’t have time for this”

  10. Iftikhar Ahmad:

if you think these people on this site is worried about a “backlash” you’re talking to the wrong group.
you should be looking for group that teaches Socialism 101.

All we would say, “bring it!”

I don’t want to see people into S&M flaunted on the streets either. Not far from where I live they have man dressed up in chains and leather with a ball in his mouth with a woman standing over him with a whip and they walk up and down the street like this. With children all around. It is disgusting in my opinion. This is the exact opposite of the nijab.

At least in my opinion, a nijab is a symbol of complete domination of the man over a woman and they parade it on the streets it is disgusting IN MY OPINION.

If they want to do this, do it at home.

Don’t confuse hijab(head covering) with niqab(face covering). I understand your point. But maybe using classical liberal freedoms to cover our own faces could be useful too. I don’t like those cameras.

  13. Thank you for correcting me.

Cameras bug me to but only one belief and the most dangerous shouldn’t be allowed to be the only ones to avoid cameras

  14. Women who wear burqas will, after death, be put in iron maidens for eternity, on top of other punishments. Yes, we know not wearing burqas will bring you into trouble, but your immortal soul is more important. Muslims who get angry must understand we have freedom of religion over here, so I am entitled to my religious views. Hell is eternal, your religion destroys itself in Syria and Iraq.
