As I understand it, all the girls or most of them lived in care homes. How is it possible that 13- or 15-year-old girls living in care homes are left totally unsupervised and can be “picked up” by unrelated adult men? The details about the kind of care that those children received by the State are an horror story within another horror story, and it seems to me that the failures of those who were in care of the girls (the staff and the regulations of the care homes) are not being addressed properly. I have read somewhere that the staff doesn’t have the legal right to prevent the teenagers to go out whenever and wherever they like. How is it possible if they are underage? What kind of “care” is that? Or are those girls already considered “lost girls” even by the State?
