Editor’s Note: The writer is the author of “A Time to Betray,” a book about his double life as a CIA agent in Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.

Two massive blasts on Nov. 12 that hit near Tehran, the Iranian capital, and rocked the city may have been an attempt to assassinate the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who had been scheduled to be there at the time of the explosions, sources suggest.

Now the question is whether the Iranians will retaliate.

At the time of the explosions, Iranians found themselves wondering if Israel had attacked. The International Atomic Energy Agency’s recent report on Iran’s nuclear weapons program and the warnings of military action by Israeli officials have alarmed Iranians about the possibility of war.

The simultaneous explosions, which hit the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ base 28 miles west of Tehran, not only shook the surrounding area but were heard and felt throughout Tehran, even breaking car and building windows.

  1. reading more as per instruction; this has the taste of iranian in-fighting and sabotage by those who do not trust the mad mullahs with nukes.
there are, surely, more than a few rational iranians with the ability to influence matters there.

  2. I worked for Negro Rescue in Africa for many years. We would launch rescue missions along the breadth and depth of Africa. Though it was a noble operation it was often full of tribal infighting and are most successful operation was in fact rescuing a cat from a tree in Durban. We never actually managed to rescue a Negro. Eventually the corruption and incompetence got to us and we closed the mission down. However, Iran contacted us and said they would pay billions for our operating manual as they felt we were geniuses just like they were. Well we sold it to them and the genius we see on display in Iran has all the Hallmarks of a Negro Rescue operation. They call it Jihad though. Using fancy words will not help. Meanwhile we are living high on the hog as they say here in sunny Durban while a Rescue the Planet mission is going on costing millions to host the fat cats who are in charge. I sometimes see them surfing, sunning themselves and getting dressed up for a safari trip. The key to the whole thing is to at least convince people that you are doing a good thing and get the funding that you need for your particular life style. Whether it is rescuing the Negro, or saving the planet from the Infidel, or from global warming the key is to convince the suckers that you are large, in charge and competent.

  3. I agree that it was probably Iranians who set off the explosion, and the regime will crack down on them but will continue to publicly blame the Jews and the West. This will be a good excuse for them to attack Israel as soon as they have nuclear weapons.
