  1. In all duerespect, I still need more info as to why it is prinipally this EU structure that is ruining Europe.

I believe that it is the mentality of leftwing progressive, ie, selfish modern liberal “giveme giveme and I do not care how deeply we are in debt mindthink”. Let the next generation go without. The European entitlement mentality is responsible. Socialism is worse than Communism. Russia, China, India and the Saudis do not have such monster debts ( although Egypt probably does).

I do not believe that Europe would be in such better shape if each country were still using its own colourful yet bankrupt currency not supported by gold or silver or etc.

This giveme attitude would still be there as would be the ” top heave and bottom light demographics”;ie, lots of old people on top wanting their pension and a lack of young people on the bottom, to finance them. But given that Germany would not be so linked as is now, it is possible that it would be more subdued. But still be alive as would be the euro-muslim.

Yes, I agree that this parliament in Brussels appears to be another layer of gutless politicos, but there still are many politicos even without it.

Please help me understand why the pension high tax ponzi scheme would be any different.

  2. Infidel Guy the EU is part of the far lefts attempt to take control of all of Europe, they are the ones pushing for more and more welfare spending, they are also the ones pushing to do away with all borders and national laws and national and local police and have just the EU laws and police. Their economic policies are partially to blame for the current economic mess, granted the left wing governments of most nations helped it along but the EU was pushing to the policies that did the damage.

You have to look past the statements of the politicians and see what the results of their actions are.

Personally I don”t think the EU will survive another 5 to 10 years, reality is slapping people in the face and they are turning away from the liberal utopia and wanting their nations to survive.

  3. Thank you Richard but I will tell you something. I still believe that Europe would eventually be in this same financial big black hole, depending on Germany or Austria or Italy or France ( big bankrupt countries) to buy the bonds of the smaller happy bankrupt countries (Denmark, Swedens, Portugal, etc.). It just accelerated their demise.

In Canada, we can still borrow. We have untapped resources in our favour.

Happy I am here and not there. I also agree that the trend is towards the right ( less govt) and socialism ponzi schemes are over very soon.

  4. Infidel Guy they are already there, Greece has been bailed out once and needs bailing out again, Ireland is in the process of being bailed out and Portugal is going down and will need bailing out soon, and when Portugal goes Spain will fall also. Britain, France, Italy and the Benelux nations are all in massive debt and are scrambling to find costs to cut so they don’t follow Greece. The only nation that is currently fiscally sound is Germany and they have footed the bill for Greece and Ireland, a fact the German voters hate and are screaming about. Germany has already said that anymore bailouts will have to come from the IMF, which means the US, well we don’t have the money and China is in an inflationary cycle brought on by their printing money to bribe their population to remain calm and can’t loan anyone very much money. I don’t know about India but Japan is working hard to remain afloat and buy US bonds to keep us from collapsing (they want us to keep protecting them, this is a very complicated problem so please don’t ask abt it now) and all of South America is limping and waiting for the rest of the word to pull them out of a recession. As far as Canada’s untapped resources if the rest of the world doesn’t have money to buy you can’t sell. The isolationists scream about various nations being self sufficient, the only nations that are self sufficient live in mud huts and have subsistence level farming and nothing else for an industry. The world has had an international economy since the 1500’s and unless we are willing to go back to the 1300s or the early 1400s lifestyle we will remain an international economy.

This economic mess was brought on by the left trying to legislate equal results in life, not being satisfied with equality under the law and equality (in theory) in opportunity. The laws of economics are as unbreakable as the laws of physics, they just take longer to explode in your face, the West has been breaking various laws of economics since around 1900 and the explosion is finally happening. Buckle up it is going to be a bumpy ride for everyone.
