Bomb scare at Eiffel Tower, area evacuated

Paris, France — A bomb threat that led authorities to use sniffer dogs to inspect the Eiffel Tower and surrounding areas Tuesday turned out to have been a hoax, CNN affiliate BFM-TV reported, citing police.

The police press office said the telephone threat was reported at 8:20 p.m. and was treated as a routine occurrence; the tower was inspected to determine whether the threat was real.

A telephoned bomb threat also led authorities to briefly evacuate the St. Michel metro station, police said, according to BFM-TV. It was reopened within 30 minutes.

Some 2,000 people had been in the area of the Eiffel Tower and the park in which it sits when the evacuation was ordered, police said, according to BFM-TV. Briefly evacuated were a number a nearby apartment buildings and businesses, according to news reports.

  1. Maybe we are living in the golden age of Jihad. There seems to be a lot of it. In the west it is more like than not the jihadists get caught before things get going. In the house of islam the Sunni vs Shia and Shia vs Sunni etc keeps Allah’s brown man happy. All financed by petro dollars and of course the dictates of the imams and rulers who normally keep well away from the action. The only thing that will change in the future will be that petro dollars will have gone and instead we will have the imams and rulers ranting and raving and killing while their populations starve. Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia already show the future. That future will spread to Saudi Arabia as well as Iran which gets poorer by the day. Iranian Oil peaked in the seventies. It is dwindling like crazy. The Saudis are now starting to peak. Russia is now number one in oil and gas. So Saudi will increasingly start to resemble Iran but with an african feel as more africans continue to africanise that county. People may look back at 9/11 and post 9/11 as the golden age of modern jihad. Back then we got things done they will say!
