Once again, we see that actual gay rights in Toronto take a back seat to hatred of Israel and arguably Jewish people, and of course, the compulsory pushing the leftist party line. I hope that homosexuals in Canada are deeply ashamed by this. If not ashamed, then please organize a nice big public gay pride march in Gaza, the West Bank and Saudi Arabia and Iran. I will gladly help fund raise to get you all over there for it.

Ignorance of the situation in the Middle East and elsewhere in the world vis a vis Islam generates some strange alliances.

Any gay, lesbian or transgendered people who support Hamas or Islam are supporting the very ideology that would see them murdered for being who they are. Its as simple as that.
They only have to look at Nazi Germany or current events in Iran, Iraq and other Muslim countries to know that Israel and the Jewish people are NOT their enemies. It was Jewish community leaders in the 1950s, 60s and 70s who spearheaded the civil rights movement in the United States and many of them included GLBT rights as part of their efforts.
How many Muslim leaders did or would do the same?
Now a small but vocal minority of that same community is undoing decades of progress in the fight to keep their rights by falling for the “poor Gaza/Hamas” bullshit that the MSM keeps spewing out.
Get a grip, people. The only enemy is your ignorance of history and facts.
Support Israel, support the troops in Afghanistan and elsewhere in the fight against an ancient enemy that knows no surrender; Islam.

AJ Well said. he Israeli, American, British and Canadian armed forces are the defenders of the very values these moronic protesters claim to have. I even accept that I should not unleash on all gay people, and accepted that in advance of this. However I want to see some gay people coming forward, coming shall we say, out of the much more unfashionable closet, of defending true liberalism in the face of leftism and Islam.

I think you’ve hit on something with the “unfashionable” bit. Most of the people I know are liberals, and there is some silly peer pressure to walk in lock step.
I remember once I was at a gay bar, and some old guy started talking to me (he started it) about how he hated Bush (yes I’m aware of the double-entendre). I said back to him, “I don’t hate Bush”, and he literally had a tantrum right there. This type of thing continues in my life and it’s annoying.
So, I understand why some look at gays as total caricatures. Too many jump into this lefty stuff with both feet without understanding it very well. That said, conservative gays are treated like crap by the Republican Party, so there’s the rub.

AJ – No ( in hebrew “lo”, in arabic “la”). I cannot see any way for Israel o live like a normal country. Every tribe, nation hasthe right to live in peace. Israel is not better ro worse than USA, Canada, Colombia, Brazil, etc.,, or any country in the ” New World”. If you elieve, or your friends beleive that Jews stole land from the palies, well, this is their right. I will counter to say that the euros, including Libby Davis and Eleanor Thomas , and Michael Harris from 580 cfra, stole lands from the native indigenous populations which were here perhaps thousands of years before Colombus. And re-named them ( ie, Bronx, Montreal, Vancouver, Medellin, Hollywood, etc..).
This an argument that one can defend in a court of law. There is no historical attachment to the Americas, a millenia ago, by anyone named Harris, McGill, Smith or Parizeau. But there are artifacts that support a Hebrew or Jewish presence in the Sinai or Jerusalem or Samaria thousands of years ago. Before the Arabs wandered in to spread Alla or looking for greener pastures to cultivate.

Abu excellent well said. It bears mentioning that Islam has a war on history itself extinguishing any evidence that non-Muslims lived on a land Muslims now inhabit. The Saudis of course destroyed all Churches and Jewish temples a long time ago, and we saw the same in Afghanistan with the Buddhist statues and in Gaza there are ‘archaeologists’ working 3 shifts digging up Jewish artifacts and putting them on conveyor belts into pile drivers or their equivalent. Only Islam has waged war on truth and history itself, with the possible exception of communism.
I like Israel, and am not crapping on it in any way. But I think we are having two different conversations here.
Yes, strength is respected above all else in that region. There is no inkling of a “partner for peace” for Israel over there. And there are way too many people equivocating the morality of a country defending itself and violent attacks on civilians by Palestinians.
Negotiations seem to be useless. Unilateral moves for the benefit of The Palestinians haven’t worked either. Offering great deals didn’t work. Money (and lots of it) also didn’t work (we give the Palestinians something like $250k per person to date, right?). Israel provides the territory with water and electricity, so that goodwill hasn’t done much.
Overall, it’s an intractable situation and very unfair to Israel. And, the original point about gays siding with Palestinians is totally shameful (though I must remind you these are Canadians—perhaps a bigger factor than the gay part).
I really do get it. I’d just like to think there are better ideas than just annihilating an entire population. It doesn’t seem like a serious option to me. Aren’t there any better ideas than that?
1. start properly vetting university profs properly making sure they have actual academic credentials instead of just being a far left mouth piece.
2. Get rid of all departments such as women’s studies and other pseudo-academia which was intended from the outset to subvert reason and logic itself as part of a larger plan to destroy western civilization as the Frankfurt school had planned.
3. Israel must continue to act within the Geneva convention and other international rules of warfare even though the enemy does not, but they should stop acting so far within those rules that they are not only perceived as weak, but are ineffective militarily. Israel must be effective with force and perhaps may have to not be as sensitive to irrational leftist opinions. It is clear that many if not most nations will side against Israel no matter what they do, and no matter what the facts are. In light of this, Israel must do what any nation does. Act in it’s own best interests and in this case they are existential.
4. All Muslim immigration to western nations must stop immediately. We must end family unification programs and the student visa racket as well as any funding for bogus outreach. Canada has done a somewhat good job at this, but our immigration and refugee boards are nothing more than welcome mats to terrorists and Islamists who hate western secular democracy and above all, Israel. We have to fix this immediately.
5. We have to begin to enforce our own existing laws. No new ones are necessary. Just start arresting and jailing for actual crimes and not mitigating for reasons of culture etc. In other words, remember who we are, and destroy multiculturalism as an official policy. One law for all people within a constitutional democracy.
6. Do not be afraid of truths that counter fashion. If a thing is true, it is not racist. When it was clear for example that AIDS was a disease that was primarily spread by homosexual activity, the gay community (those that survived) pulled together and changed their behavior and managed to stop the disease quite quickly. So dealing with the truth and the facts is always better than pretending things are other than they are, as this only ever prevents a solution as opposed to what the left presents as being a solution in and unto itself.
Thats a start off the top of my head.
