Not sure what to make of this as it is only a change of headgear. It is not asking that the legal framework of the country be changed to include amputations, stonings, beheadings which is the order of the day from muslims. Surely in the west we can deal with a little change of headgear. It is the other demands to change the entire legal framework to include marrying 9 year old girls which we get from Islam which we can not accept. So a little sense of proportion is necessary and as this only affects hardly anyone it is small beer compared to the demands of Islam. There is no moral equivalence here and I feel that the comments on the video reflect tacitly an attempt at moral equivalence with the religion of peace: Islam
The video makes a valid set of points for the retention of the RCMP uniform.
Multiculturalism is the attempt by western democracies since the 1960s and 1970s to help immigrants adjust and adapt to their new homelands, to make it easier for them to become assmilated. It was a response to the horrors of the Holocaust on one hand and an effort to apologize for colonial excesses of the past 400 years on the other.
What has happened is that quite a few immigrant groups, most praticularly Muslim and Sikh, have abused these policies to promote their own agendas and to undermine western values and culture.
However, all over the world where Sikhs have settled, they have generally co-existed with others and even upheld the secular laws by becoming police officers in their new homelands. I recall seeing a photograph many years ago of a Sikh police officer directing traffic somewhere in the Carribean . And Sikhs are not prone to forcing others to their beliefs. The kirpan, long thought to be a symbol of hate, is actually a symbol of the Sikh people’s defence against the Muslim Mughal dynasty, which ruled India for centuries using terror and hate.
It is Muslims who nearly always over-step the bounds of multicultural policies because they have been brainwashed into believing two lies: that Islam is the only perfect or true religion and must conquer the world, and that Muslims, when they immigrate to the west, are always going to be victims.
Both lies are religiously sanctioned and embedded in the political system of Islam. It is nearly impossible to de-program Muslims from these two beliefs. Only when they see these for themselves can they ever escape the prison of Islam.
Multiculturalism has failed to bring about the assimilation and integration of Muslims and other immigrant communities. It is time we see Islam, at the very least, as an adversarial political system and treat it as we once treated Communism; with extreme prejudice.
May the truth prevail.
Hey it’s just headgear so who cares? And the Swastika is just a pin so why care if a Nazi believing officer wears a Swastika with his uniform instead of the RCMP pin if there is one. Its just a little change of jewellery right?
Symbols mean things. Once you confuse the meaning of a secular federal police force with a highly focused symbol of a religion, a religion i might add which is the only one to have committed a terrorist attack in large scale against a Canadian target, a religious group which is fighting for an independant state from India, you no longer have a secular, non partisan Canadian federal force. If you do not like it, you HAVE choices. 1. do not join the RCMP and enjoy Canada’s freedom to be a Sikh anywhere you want without fear. 2. Wear the turban elsewhere and the uniform at work. 3. give up your religion and join the RCMP. No one has a gun to your head to do either.
Oh, and in no way am I trying to equate Sikhism with Islam. Sikhs at this time are being murdered, kidnapped, tortured and extorted to covert to Islam. Please do not misconstrue my point about the destruction of secular institutions. I would say the same thing about Jews and Catholics if they demanded the RCMP allow crucifixes or T’filin with it etc.
It’s pretty much overwhelmingly insane to want to join a group and ab initio demand the group adapt it’s rules to your personal whatever, as a condition for your membership.

I agree that symbols mean things. However, a hat like turban is a practiacl piece of headgear to cover a lot of uncut hair. I personally can see the logic in covering the hair in another way and that would make sense in this case as the Canadian police hat amply does that job. When it comes to the Swastika that too is Nazi or a Hindu symbol. As a hindu smbol I have seen it in people’s car as I walk by in my town. When used by a German it means something else. When used by an Indian it means something else and is often found in temples as a sign of the noble aryan race. That is the reason Hitler used it. So the same thing can mean two different things. So a hat change can mean a genuine attempt by the authorities to be kind or it can mean an imposition of an alien culture on to the indigineous culture. Take your pick. In any case this in no implies an attempt to impose foreign indian legan system on to people as is the case with Islam which wants the world run according to Arab rules called Sharia. The two cases are worlds apart.
Dear Fred it is asking for people to try their luck in changing things if the multicultural forces have given people a mandate to do so. In that case it is not insane to try and change things. Why not? It is a mark of rationality to try and change things when the forces that be make it easy to do so. The framework of society is what gives the go ahead.
