Venezuela’s automobile production fell by 17 percent during 2009, El Nacional reported Jan. 7, citing an announcement by the Venezuelan Automotive Chamber (CAVENEZ). According to CAVENEZ, the sector has been hindered by government-mandated currency exchange regulations and by labor strikes.
