1. Eric Zemmour is in a rare class along with Geert Wilders. Someone who is not Muslim, and manages to speak the truth about Islam and related issues publicly and still has a pulse.
2. Probably most people don’t remember Bruce Bawer. He was a very early example of an American leftist who decided that as a gay man in New York, he was sick of the racism and persecution he faced in America because of his sexual orientation. So he decided to move to the Netherlands, where he imagined life would be paradisiacal for homosexuals. Subsequently he wrote an exceptional book called, While Europe Slept about how in fact Islamic immigration had made things so much worse for gay men than in the US that he had to leave the Netherlands after a few severe beatings. He also went on to reevaluate how he viewed the US as a culture altogether and started touring, speaking about how in Fact, the US was the only culture that made any sense from a more or less libertarian perspective. This book was published on Sept. 11, 2007. And unfortunately, what might be called the sexual-orientation branch of the military colonists spearheading that component of the communist revolution did not get the memo. In fact Bruce was shunned from the organized branches of that component of the intersectional alliance against “capitalism”.
yesterday, Gates of Vienna published a very interesting account of another American, a ‘trans’ person from San Francisco, who, if you can believe it, decided to declare “refugee status” in the Netherlands. You can guess how it went, but it’s a short and excellent read. Please click through.
For those interested, this is Bruce Bawer’s talk in Ottawa from 2009. back then, YouTube had a 15 minute limit for videos so it was initially done in 4 parts but we put it back together as one video here now.
3. Carleton University has authorized a new book club, and tonight’s reading is of a book by the Ayatollah Khomeini, the leader of the Islamic revolution that turned a thriving and happy Persia back to a near Medieval Islamic Iran back in the 70s. And one thing we can say about the Ayatollah, is he is very honest about Islam. In tonight’s book club reading they have chosen his book, The Greatest Jihad.

Now many people who have had a brief look at the concept of Jihad likely think it’s about an inner struggle for self betterment. Well… that’s kinda true. But what constitutes self betterment in Islam is of course, the Islamic concept of better. Which is not the Western one.
People who look a little deeper may find that there are two forms of Jihad, The greater, which is the self betterment kind, and the lesser, which is waging war on the unbeliever till all the world is for Allah and Islam is all there is for religious devotion.
In the book, Jihad al Akbar, The Greatest Jihad, the Ayatollah actually explains what the Greater Jihad actually means. Or more precisely what self improvement means in Islam:
With love of self and position, with arrogance and pride, you cannot mount any resistance. An evil scholar, a scholar who inclines toward the world, a scholar who thinks of preserving his position and administrative post, will not be able to combat the enemies of Islam. He will be more harmful than others. Take a step for the sake of God. Dispel the love of the world from your heart. Then you will be able to engage in combat.
From this moment on, develop and raise this point in your heart, that I must be an armed soldier of Islam, and sacrifice myself for Islam. I must work for Islam until I am destroyed. Do not make excuse for yourself that today is inappropriate. Try to be useful for the future of Islam. In short, become a human being! The colonialists are afraid of human beings. They are afraid of man. The colonialists, who want to plunder all we have, will not allow the training of human beings in religious and scholarly universities.
OK so now we know. The Greater Jihad means to become more authentically Muslim. To lose your love of the world and prepare yourself to die fighting the lesser jihad, killing infidels. Finally this all makes sense. As I say, nothing more useful than an honest Muslim leader. We felt pretty much the same way about Anjem Chaudary.
Then there are Khomeini’s speeches and writings from the 1940s where he was pretty clear about his views, which are ones the naive or those not paying attention would imagine the left might oppose.
“Islam makes it incumbent on all adult males, provided they are not disabled and incapacitated, to prepare themselves for the conquest of other countries so that the writ of Islam is obeyed in every country in the world. But those who study Islamic Holy War will understand why Islam wants to conquer the whole world.”
“Those who know nothing of Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war. Those who say this are witless. Islam says: Kill all the unbelievers just as they would kill you all! Does this mean that Muslims should sit back until they are devoured by the unbelievers? Islam says: Kill them, put them to the sword and scatter their armies. Does this mean sitting back until [non-Muslims] overcome us? Islam says: Kill in the service of Allah those who may want to kill you! Does this mean that we should surrender [to the enemy]? Islam says: Whatever good there is exists thanks to the sword and in the shadow of the sword! People cannot be made obedient except with the sword! The sword is the key to paradise, which can be opened only for holy warriors! There are hundreds of other Koranic psalms and hadiths urging Muslims to value war and to fight. Does all that mean that Islam is a religion that prevents men from waging war? I spit upon those foolish souls who make such a claim.”
Both from his book Kashf al-Asrar (Unveiling of Secrets), written in 1942
It would be interesting to know what kind of clubs have been refused by Carleton U. Maybe none. But I bet anti-Abortionists are not allowed on campus at all, let alone to start a pro-life club there.
Actually yeah. Predictably, there is quite a record of selective denial of club status:
Well-documented case involving a pro-life club at Carleton University in Ottawa.
The group was Carleton Lifeline. The Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) repeatedly restricted or denied it official club status because of its anti-abortion stance.? From the National post
2006: CUSA passed a policy stating that no resources, space, recognition, or funding would be allocated for activities seeking to “limit or remove a woman’s right to choose.” This effectively barred pro-life groups from official club status. Carleton Lifeline was targeted.? From CBC
2010: After members set up a graphic Genocide Awareness Project display (comparing abortion to the Holocaust and other atrocities), several students were arrested for trespassing. Campus security and Ottawa police intervened when the group refused to confine the display to a designated indoor area. Shortly afterward, CUSA decertified Carleton Lifeline. The association said the club’s constitution (which described abortion as a “moral and legal wrong” and called for legal protection of the unborn) violated its anti-discrimination policy. Lifeline was told it could regain status only by amending its constitution to affirm a woman’s right to choose.? National Post
CUSA upheld the decision. The club pursued legal options, including a lawsuit against the university administration (alleging discrimination and unequal treatment of displays) and a judicial review of the student association’s actions.? From Lifesite news
By around 2012–2013, CUSA revised its policy and Carleton Lifeline was later re-certified as a club.?
The university administration was not always identical in position to CUSA. In the 2006 episode, for example, the university stated it was not bound by the student association’s decision and would still allow groups to book space under existing policies (with possible restrictions on graphic images handled case-by-case).?
These events were widely covered at the time by outlets including the National Post, Globe and Mail, CBC, Maclean’s, and LifeSiteNews, and they sparked broader debate in Canada about free speech and student-union policies on campus. No equally prominent recent (post-2013) denials of pro-life or similar clubs at Carleton appear in the main reporting.
So that all makes sense. And is perfectly consistent with the new revolutionary Canada.
