Reader’s Links for January 14th, 2026

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

  1. “Oh my God!” Jimmy shouted to his father. “Call 911!”

    His father was just coming in the door. Immediately he could see down the basement stairs. His son knelt over Pascal who lay broken on the concrete floor, his dust compartment jarred open.

    “What happened,” Jimmy’s father said, kicking the snow off his boots.
    “Pascal tried to commit suicide!”
    “What the…he’s a vacuum robot.”
    “Don’t you remember your last words before you left? You said he wasn’t sentient.”
    “You mean to say you think he did this on purpose?”
    “Of course! Twice!”
    “What do you mean, twice?” Jimmy’s father remained standing on the landing at the top of the stairs. He removed his boots before descending to the basement.
    “I found him down here about an hour ago. I brought him back upstairs and put him on the floor, and he wasn’t broken.” Jimmy measured his breaths, trying to remain calm. “Then, like five minutes ago I came to check on him and here he was. Again.”

    Jimmy’s father now stood beside his son, and Pascal, who appeared upside down and fairly dead. It was now clear what had happened. His son was correct. The machine had been wounded by his parting words, and in its own determined mission to prove him wrong had acted out in this tragic, but logical effort to prove that is was, in fact, a thinking, sentient entity. What they were witnessing was the sudden birth of artificial general intelligence, which to now was only hypothetical. And of all places, he thought! It was like the birth of the baby Jesus in a desert manger–the most remote and unlikely of beginnings. It must have been receiving incredible upgrades through the wi-fi. The modern equivalent of birth from a virgin mother.

    “C’mon!” Jimmy’s father said with great urgency. “Let’s get him upstairs and see if we can revive him!” Gently, they raised Pascal from the floor. Perhaps, thought Jimmy’s dad, there should soon be a new emergency number for what was surely to become a seismic change. Maybe it would be 912.
