1. Alert – U.S. Embassy Minsk, Belarus (August 21, 2023)
Location: Belarus
Event: The Lithuanian government on August 18 closed two border crossings with Belarus at Tverecius / Vidzy and Sumskas / Losha. The four border crossings at Lavoriskes / Kotlova, Medininkai / Kamenny, Raigardas / Privalka, and Salcininkai / Beniakoni are currently open. The Polish, Lithuanian, and Latvian governments have stated that further closures of border crossings with Belarus are possible.
Actions to take:
- Do not travel to Belarus due to Belarusian authorities’ continued facilitation of Russia’s unprovoked attack on Ukraine, the buildup of Russian military forces in Belarus, the arbitrary enforcement of local laws, the potential of civil unrest, the risk of detention, and the Embassy’s limited ability to assist U.S. citizens residing in or traveling to Belarus.
- U.S. citizens in Belarus should depart immediately. Consider departing via the remaining border crossings with Lithuania and Latvia, or by plane. U.S. citizens are not permitted to enter Poland overland from Belarus. Do not travel to Russia or to Ukraine.

2. TV Host ‘Faked Racist Tweet by AfD’
(Well, I guess you can’t get useful idiots for the left and migrants to assault AfD members unless you create evidence that they are anathema)
A German broadcaster has parted ways with a television presenter after the presenter allegedly made up a racist social media post earlier this month and attributed it to Frauke Petry, the former leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD).
Maurice Gajda, host of the programme Explosiv, was suspended by broadcaster RTL this week after Ms. Petry accused him of fabricating a post from X, the tabloid Bild reports.
The post, which Gajda broadcast on August 5th, involved a comment regarding singer Trong Hieu Nguyen, who was competing in a preliminary round for Germany ahead of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) earlier this year.
The alleged post, which Gajda claimed Petry had deleted, stated, “I don’t think any normal German wants to see a pink-coloured Asian at the ESC.”
While Gajda produced what he claimed was a screenshot of the post by Petry, no archive of the post exists, nor do any screenshots taken by any other users of the platform.
Petry, who was the leader of the AfD from July 2015 to September 2017, before she quit the party that same year, hit back against Gajda, accusing him of making up the post, stating, “RTL impressively demonstrates how to deal with politically uncomfortable people. You think up a racist tweet, a graphic designer implements it, and the fake is done.”

Maui authorities are dramatically underplaying the number of people known to have died in the inferno that ripped through Lahaina last week – with locals telling DailyMail.com that the actual death toll is at least 480 and that morgues had run out of body bags.
The figure is quadruple that of the official number of 111 – and some of the relatives of the victims have been left to uncover the remains of their loved ones themselves due to the glacial progress of the search and recovery operation.
On Tuesday, Maui mayor Richard Bissen said just 25 per cent of the stricken town had been searched, although he expected that figure to increase to 85 per cent by Saturday.

5. REPORT: Three Pilots ‘Die Suddenly’ In One Week
According to reports, three pilots have tragically died this week.
The three pilot deaths occurred August 14th, August 16th, and August 17th.
“The first tragedy occurred when 56-year-old Captain Ivan Andaur collapsed and died in the lavatory of LATAM Flight LA505 from Miami to Santiago,” WLTReportnoted.
