That is to say, the people who are making this war happen and perpetuating it are making sure that when the likely consequence of the war they are perpetuating causes an event that threatens Canadians, Trudeau and his staff will be OK.

Canada is dusting off and updating emergency protocols to deal with fallout from a possible tactical nuclear exchange in Europe or the spread of radiation across the ocean from a Ukrainian power plant explosion.

Internal Public Safety Canada notes show the measures include updating a highly secret plan to ensure the federal government can continue to function in a severe crisis.

Ottawa was also taking steps to finalize a protocol for advising the Canadian public of an incoming ballistic missile, say the notes obtained by The Canadian Press under the Access to Information Act.

As an aside, Russia has hypersonic missiles that are faster than sound by a factor of about 5. They land with such impact that they do not even need an explosive payload to destroy a well fortified target. We have seen their use against secret NATO installations in Ukraine already. So if Russia launches one of these with a nuclear payload at a Canadian City, the only message we can expect will be a giant holographic fist in the sky with a middle finger extended with a note from Trudeau to us. Whatever else it actually is, that is probably the way to interpret it as you will not have time to say good bye to your closest let alone get out of Dodge.
