Reader’s Links for July 11th, 2023

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. The U.S. dollar, and the system of finance built around it, will be around for many years to come. I point out the British Pound sterling as a way to see what happens to world reserve currencies that lose their reign.
(…”The term is derived from the fact that, about 775, silver coins known as “sterlings” were issued in the Saxon kingdoms, 240 of them being minted from a pound of silver, the weight of which was probably about equal to the later troy pound.”)

They survive because they were built empire strong, not of the derivative stuff that rides on the coattails of real money. Yes, their value is clipped and their former glory is put under glass, but they still perform their function as a medium of exchange, if not as a stellar mechanism of saving. For an inkling of what to expect under a diminished USD Americans need only look north. The Canadian dollar has been artificially pegged at about 25 percent lower than the USD since its glory days when it was worth more. There was an exceptional short period under Prime Minister Harper when the Loonie was allowed to rise, but for the political payoff of pushing exports and creating jobs the peg has worked. Nevermind the 25 percent lower standard of living Canadians don’t care to acknowledge. Yes, we pay this much more for our imports. We’ve exported our manufacturing base abroad. So a good question for masters of the Canadian political universe is: if the USD loses 25 percent of its value, and the CND is pegged 25 percent still lower, does this mean Canadians should expect a standard of living 50 percent less than when Harper brought the CND to par September 20, 2007? Will they even notice? You bet they will. For comparison, a quick check shows the Bulgarian Lev currently at a 25 percent discount to the CND. This is the stuff of emerging markets, not first-world status. Take a trip to Bulgaria to taste your future.

Once the exorbitant privilege of America’s world-reserve currency’s status has been run out of town by a succession of political whores, Americans will notice, too. The question is always in the timing of these money questions though, right?

Time is the punchline to every prank life plays on us, and the jokes are ever in the works.

People conflate the corruption they see in our leaders and governments with a hastened USD demise. Are they wrong? I mean, how much abuse can a poor buck take? I think of the billions in weaponry left in Afghanistan, the billions shipped to Ukraine, the billions squandered on everything Woke, and on and on. Like the joke goes: a billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon you’re talkin’ real money. Keynesian kooks.

Real money. Anyone who denies that hard money will not return some where, some time on our planet is just plain foolish. Since we know very well the fate of little rebels such as Libya who flirted with gold-backed money and lost violently, we can know that subsequent contenders in this realm will be very cautious. They will gather together for the safety their numbers provide. They will move slowly but deliberately. After all, the managers of the currency they are trying to escape the clutches of are doing a fine job destroying themselves, so why interfere? Patience, grasshopper.

The one thing, however, that even Dollar doubters (not to mention American patriots) often forget is the ability and capacity of America to renew itself. This is especially easy to do when we’re down, like now. But hope isn’t an empty threat or promise, either. It’s just not a good strategy. Not to sound trite, but it is based on the unique dynamism of a society built on pillars that have enduring meaning. The Founding Fathers were not cynics, nor can we afford this same cop-out luxury. Once the time comes American patriots should also look north for the bounty that can make them solvent once again. The commie bird and the debt bird can be slayed with one stone.

Harsh temporal realities abound for both those in denial of fiat dollar weakness, and for precious metals believers. Time doesn’t care about your mortality, sorry, so take it as it comes, keep paying attention, and adapt. It marches on with or without you–in our time–of accelerating change. This much we know for sure.

As a connected aside here is an interesting thesis: that the current trend of repatriation of gold by countries from England and the U.S. can bring down the futures market. This can happen because that market needs other people’s gold to rehypothecate over and over. Once it is gone the short sellers have nothing to play with because they sure as heck won’t use their own metals!

    • Yes we have the ability to reinvent ourselves and spring back from destruction. I firmly believe we will do this again, it will be hard and probably bloody because the left isn’t going to just give up and let the Patriots win. Neither will our external enemies, but in the long run we will once again be free and prosperous.

  2. Russian mercenary leader Prigozhin’s commanders met Putin after short-lived mutiny, pledged loyalty

Just five days after staging a short-lived rebellion, mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin ‘s commanders met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and pledged loyalty to the government, a senior government spokesman said Monday, the latest twist in a baffling episode that has raised questions about the power and influence both men wield.

The three-hour meeting took place June 29 and involved not only Prigozhin but commanders from his Wagner Group military contractor, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. Putin gave an assessment of Wagner’s actions on the battlefield in Ukraine — where the mercenaries have fought alongside Russian troops — and of the revolt itself.

“The commanders themselves presented their version of what happened. They underscored that they are staunch supporters and soldiers of the head of state and the commander-in-chief, and also said that they are ready to continue to fight for their homeland,” Peskov said.

The confirmation that Putin met face-to-face with Prigozhin, who led troops on a march to Moscow last month to demand a military leadership change, was extraordinary. Though the Russian leader branded Prigozhin a traitor as the revolt unfolded and vowed harsh punishment, the criminal case against the mercenary chief on rebellion charges was later dropped.

  3. China’s Saboteurs Are Coming to America
    by Gordon G. Chang
    June 29, 2023 at 5:00 am

There is now a Chinese invasion of the U.S. homeland.

Chinese migrants are entering the United States on foot at the southern border. Almost all are desperate, seeking a better life for themselves and their children. Some, however, are coming to commit acts of sabotage.

Many [Chinese], however, are short-circuiting the long waits at the consulates. At the southern border, Chinese migrants are entering the United States in unprecedented numbers.

Once here, the military fighters can link up with China’s agents already in place or Chinese diplomats.

How many of the PLA fighters have slipped into the United States this way? Some estimate 5,000, others 10,000. Those numbers sound high, but whatever the actual figure more are coming.

These are China’s shock troops. The concern is that, on the first day of war in Asia they will take down America’s power lines, poison reservoirs, assassinate officials, start wildfires, spread pathogens, and create terror by bombing shopping malls and supermarkets.

The saboteurs will almost certainly attack American military bases. China has already been probing sensitive installations. Chinese agents posing as tourists have, for instance, intruded into bases, including the Army’s Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska.

“When the Chinese Communist Party starts its war against Taiwan and the United States, Americans should expect that Chinese sleeper agents now in America will hit targets like gas stations and military-age Chinese now crossing our border will be mobilized for assassination attacks and assaults on U.S. military bases.” — Richard Fisher, International Assessment and Strategy Center, to Gatestone, June 17, 2023

[T]he next war in Asia will almost certainly be fought on U.S. soil, perhaps on its first day. Unsuspecting Americans will be in the fight.

Immigrants make countries strong, and almost all the Chinese migrants crossing the southern border will contribute to American society. Some, however, are coming to wage war on the United States.

How many soldiers of China’s People’s Liberation Army have slipped into the United States across the southern border? Some estimate 5,000, others 10,000. The concern is that, on the first day of war in Asia they will take down America’s power lines, poison water reservoirs, assassinate officials, start wildfires, spread pathogens, and create terror by bombing shopping malls and supermarkets. There is now a Chinese invasion of the U.S. homeland.

“The jungle is filled with Chinese marching to America,” said war correspondent Michael Yon to Gatestone.

Chinese migrants are entering the United States on foot at the southern border. Almost all are desperate, seeking a better life for themselves and their children. Some, however, are coming to commit acts of sabotage.

China is in a state of distress; gloom pervades Chinese society. Chinese by the hundreds are now patiently waiting for visas in sweltering heat in lines at U.S. consulates in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.

Many, however, are short-circuiting the long waits at the consulates. At the southern border, Chinese migrants are entering the United States in unprecedented numbers. U.S. Customs and Border Protection reports that the number of apprehensions of Chinese migrants in the first five months of the current federal fiscal year was more than double that during all of the last fiscal year. The 8,000 Chinese migrants apprehended this calendar year are more than quadruple the number apprehended in the comparable period a year ago.

Chinese nationals are flying to Ecuador, which permits them to enter visa-free. They then make their way to the southern edge of the Darien Gap, about 66 miles of jungle separating Colombia and Panama. The migrants cross the natural barrier on foot, and once safely on the north side continue the journey to America, often by bus.

Some Chinese migrants are poor. Many, however, are middle-class. They can afford to pay $35,000 each to Mexican cartels to be smuggled into America.

“It’s like an animal stampede before an earthquake,” said “Sam,” a Chinese migrant who crossed into America first in February at Brownsville, Texas, to Axios.

Some migrants are almost certainly members of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA). Representative Mark Green (R-Tenn.), chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said at a press conference on the 14th of this month that a Border Patrol sector chief informed him that some of the Chinese migrants at the southern border have “known ties to the PLA.”

“We have no idea who these people are, and it’s very likely, using Russia’s template of sending military personnel into Ukraine, China is doing the same into the United States,” said Green.

These military-linked migrants, despite their affiliations, have been released into America.

There is no question that China’s PLA is inserting saboteurs through Mexico. “At the Darien Gap, I have seen countless packs of Chinese males of military age, unattached to family groups, and pretending not to understand English,” said Yon, the war correspondent. “They were all headed to the American border.”

“Normally in groups of five to fifteen, they typically emerge from the Darien Gap and spend one night in the U.S.-funded San Vicente Camp, or next door in the Tonosi Hotel, before boarding luxury buses for the trip up Highway 1 toward Costa Rica,” Yon reports. “One group of six young men bought a chicken at the Tonosi Hotel, drank its blood from small glasses, then cooked the chicken themselves in the hotel restaurant, according to the hotel manager. Drinking raw chicken blood is a rite among some PLA soldiers.”

Once here, the military fighters can link up with China’s agents already in place or Chinese diplomats.

How many of the PLA fighters have slipped into the United States this way? Some estimate 5,000, others 10,000. Those numbers sound high, but whatever the actual figure, more are coming.

These are China’s shock troops. The concern is that, on the first day of war in Asia they will take down America’s power lines, poison water reservoirs, assassinate officials, start wildfires, spread pathogens, and create terror by bombing shopping malls and supermarkets.

The saboteurs will almost certainly attack American military bases. China has already been probing sensitive installations. Chinese agents posing as tourists have, for instance, intruded into bases, including the Army’s Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska. There, the suspected Chinese agents drove past a base gate and were later apprehended with a drone inside their car.

“Ancient Chinese strategists prized the use of subterfuge and surprise to achieve victory, and the two PLA colonels who wrote Unrestricted Warfare in 1999 were full of praise for the tactics of Osama bin Laden,” Richard Fisher of the International Assessment and Strategy Center told this publication. “When the Chinese Communist Party starts its war against Taiwan and the United States, Americans should expect that Chinese sleeper agents now in America will hit targets like gas stations and military-age Chinese now crossing our border will be mobilized for assassination attacks and assaults on U.S. military bases.”

Therefore, the next war in Asia will almost certainly be fought on U.S. soil, perhaps on its first day. Unsuspecting Americans will be in the fight.

  4. EXCLUSIVE: Biden’s DOJ Eliminates Language on Child Sex Trafficking from Government Website and Child Victims of Prostitution – After Losing Track of 85,000 Migrant Children
    By Jim Hoft Jul. 11, 2023 8:00 am8 Comments

Migrant children kept in cages by Joe Biden
Why did the DOJ remove “International Sex Trafficking of Minors”, “Domestic Sex Trafficking of Minors” and “Child Victims of Prostitution” from the Department of Justice website under Child Sex Trafficking?

The Biden administration removed these sections on May 12, 2023.

Why would they remove these important sections?

This snapshot was taken on April 21, 2023.

    Before the change:

April 21, 2023 (Includes “International Sex Trafficking of Minors”, “Domestic Sex Trafficking of Minors” and “Child Victims of Prostitution“)

This is the same administration that lost track of 85,000 migrant children in the United States since 2021.

And now the same administration is eliminating language on child sex trafficking. What gives?

  5. Biden Regime Approves Its Largest Offshore Wind Farm Project Yet
    By Jim Hoft Jul. 11, 2023 8:15 am6 Comments

The Biden regime has just approved its most ambitious offshore wind project to date.

Last week, the Department of the Interior gave the green light for the construction and operation of the Ocean Wind 1 project off the coast of New Jersey.

Located approximately 13 nautical miles southeast of Atlantic City, this ambitious undertaking promises an estimated capacity of 1,100 megawatts of clean energy and it’s expected to power over 380,000 homes.

From the perspective of the Record of Decision (ROD), the Ocean Wind 1 project involves the construction of up to 98 wind turbines and three offshore substations within its lease area.

      • You are welcome ET. But IMO too many topics. Imagine being on the panel and not agreeing with some of the presenter’s topics and their views. What do you do? Sit there and smile?
Ex. you are invited to talk about vaccines, education etc. and then the next person talks about 9/11. I think I would want to know what all of the topics that will be presented before I agree to participate.

  6. Judge Napolitano And Larry Johnson Talk Turkey And Prigozhin
    By Larry Johnson Jul. 11, 2023 7:00 am15 Comments

Strange times. Turkey made its move on the eve of the NATO Summit by giving the green light for Sweden’s admission to Club NATO in exchange for Europe “promising” to let Turkey join the E.U. Erdogan reminds me of Leonardo DiCaprio’s character in TITANIC — he’s running frantically to board an ill-fated ship. I don’t think this will have a good outcome for Erdogan or Turkey.

Then there is the news that Prigozhin and the commanders of Wagner had a three-hour sit-down with President Putin in the aftermath of the coup. This supports the hypothesis I raised early on about Prigozhin being a controlled asset of Russian intelligence.

This does not rule out the possibility that Prigozhin’s initial meeting with Western intelligence was an authentic, dastardly act of treason on his part. However, sometime after that, Russian intelligence let him know he was on the hook and he flipped back and became a double agent (i.e., convincing the West he was working for them while he was under the control of Russia).

If he keeps some of his wealth and continues to walk around without being whacked, then this undermines claim that he mutinied of his own volition and that Putin was caught unaware

      uh…there’s auto-translate.
So who’s feeding you information? That aligns perfectly with official Communications of the Ministry of Defense?

Quick to come to heel on a whistle from MoD Shoigu. While there are “tells” in every article, it’s most evident with Prigozhin, where public opinion remains so emphatically positive that Putin himself “revealed” a cordial meeting with the warlord two weeks after the fact.

This is more like it, by Roman Skomorokhov:

“The whole problem for the Russian elite is that Yevgeny Viktorovich does not belong to the elite, but stands nearby. You understand who is next to you. Yes, a little to the side, not in the focus of cameras, habitually catching Matvienko [politician], Lavrov [foreign minister], Shoigu [MoD] and others… therefore the line of his behavior is somewhat different from the lines of behavior of all the people listed.”
      https://en.topwar.ru/208268-tancy-s-kuvaldoj-pod-muzyku-vagnera.html

      • [T]Kremlins attempt to present Prigozhins villa as proof of his unique evil fell totally flat because everyone in Russia expected exactly this from both Prigozhin and the Kremlin. The FSB leaking the photos are working on behalf of people just like Prigozhin.

They are trying to stir up the peasants against Prigozhin while treating him way better than they treat the peasants. Its total meltdown and just proving to the peasantry that their overlords are hapless idiots and hypocrites. If you are waging a war for antifa values than why is your Hitler walking free and having his loot returned?

        https://t.me/apwagner/9550

    • Putin met with Prigozhin and Wagner commanders days after insurrection

In the Russian media, there has been a concerted campaign to ridicule Prigozhin, but even that campaign now raises more questions than it answers. The Nezavisimaya Gazeta noted in a comment that the state-run TV channels were “exposing Prigozhin in a way that actually looks like advertisement for him.”
      […]
This crisis and these divisions can only be understood based on the class character and historical origins of the ruling oligarchy, which has emerged out of the Stalinist destruction of the Soviet Union and restoration of capitalism. In a statement on the failed coup, the WSWS noted:

Prigozhin represents a substantial faction of the Russian oligarchy that opposes the war solely because Putin’s effort to protect the capitalist class’s and state’s privileged access to the country’s vast resources has cost them dearly. Putin has sought to balance between these factions, and this attempt to reconcile opposing oligarchic interests has determined the conduct of what he still calls a “special military operation.”

From the beginning, the Kremlin’s policy in Ukraine has been based on the hope that limited military pressure could persuade the Western imperialist powers to accept the “legitimate” security interests of the Russian capitalist regime.

  7. Cash-Strapped Consumers Cut Back On Toilet Paper And Toothpaste
    Tyler Durden’s Photo
    BY TYLER DURDEN
    TUESDAY, JUL 11, 2023 – 08:25 AM
Cash-strapped consumers are cutting back on personal hygiene products, according to Bloomberg. It’s yet another sign, after two years of negative real wage growth, depleted personal savings, and record amounts of credit card debt, the supposedly ‘strong’ consumer under ‘Bidenomics’ continues to crack under the heavy weight of a once-in-a-generation inflation storm.

Data from NIQ, which tracks retail sales, reveals consumers are decreasing their spending on personal hygiene products, like toilet paper, toothpaste, and laundry detergent. Sales for those items in the 52 weeks through June 24 were down 3% to 4%.

The strains that the consumer is under have been exacerbated over the last couple of months,” Morningstar analyst Erin Lash told Bloomberg. She noted a reduction in food assistance programs, lower tax returns, and the end of stimulus checks are some of the reasons for faltering consumers. Also, as we noted in the intro, inflation outpaces wage growth for two years and has crushed households, forcing many to drain savings and rack up enormous credit card debt in a high-rate environment.

Hollie Ernst, a single mother of two daughters from Oak Park, Illinois, said she traded down name-brand toothpaste for generic cheaper ones. The 48yo single mother of two daughters has stopped buying Aveeno lotion because of the high price and uses Vaseline instead.

“Cash doesn’t stretch as far as it used to,” said Ernst, adding she still has to use her credit card to make ends meet despite reducing her supermarket bill. She said, “I just accepted that’s the way it is.”

Ernst is just one of the tens of millions of Americans suffering while the Biden administration parades around the country, touting the successes of ‘Bidenomics.’ New credit card data on Monday showed debt-funded consumers hit a brick wall.

Some Americans have been forced into a Venezuelan-like lifestyle as ‘dumpster dining’ takes off to save on grocery bills. The more fortunate consumers have been forced to trade down from Walmart to Dollar Tree for groceries.

… and wait until September rolls around, when millions of Americans will be forced to begin repaying their student loans.

  8. How Christianity Fixes ‘Toxic Masculinity’

Nancy Pearcey’s latest book, ‘The Toxic War on Masculinity,’ explains how historical forces pushed men out of the house and denigrated their authority — with devastating consequences for society.

Man, argues Aristotle in Book VIII, Chapter 12 of his Nicomachean Ethics, “is naturally inclined to form couples—even more than to form cities, inasmuch as the household is earlier and more necessary than the city, and reproduction is more common to man with the animals. With the other animals the union extends only to this point, but human beings live together not only for the sake of reproduction but also for the various purposes of life; for from the start the functions are divided, and those of man and woman are different; so they help each other by throwing their peculiar gifts into the common stock.”

In Book I, Chapter 2 of Politics, Aristotle offers a social genesis narrative that begins with the individual household, proceeds to a village formed out of a group of such households, and culminates with a city (or city-state; polis in Greek) composed of several such villages bonded together.

The Greek word that Aristotle uses for household is oikos, which represents both the linguistic root of and the historical foundation for economics. Unlike our current nuclear family, the oikos was a complex, self-sufficient economic unit made up, in its fullest incarnation, of parents and children, grandparents and cousins, servants and slaves, lands and livestock, weavers and artisans.

Everyone from the master to the servant, the farmhand to the milkmaid, the potter to the blacksmith had a function within the oikos. Within the family itself, fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters had distinct and separate roles, but all worked together for the common good of the oikos.

    An Industrial and Domestic Revolution
Nancy Pearcey does not use the word oikos in her newest book, The Toxic War on Masculinity: How Christianity Reconciles the Sexes. However, s+

he argues — or, rather, demonstrates — that just such an economic unit was a common phenomenon in pre-industrial America. “Before the Civil War,” she writes, “90 percent of American freemen owned their own farm, shop, or small-craft workshop. … Often the living space was in one part of the house, with an office, workshop, or store in another part.”

“As a result,” she goes on to explain,

[L]ife in the thirteen colonies was characterized by an integration of life and labor. Husband and wife were engaged in a common enterprise (though not necessarily in identical tasks). They worked side by side, suffering common defeats and rejoicing in common victories. A husband/father was the head of a small commonwealth—a semi-independent economic unit that often included members of the extended family, relatives, apprentices, servants, hired hands, farm laborers, boarders, and (mostly in the South) slaves.

The head of this patriarchal economic unit, this Christian oikos, was the father. He was not, as he would increasingly become after the Industrial Revolution, a distant breadwinner who went off to work in a factory or business and left the running of the domestic sphere to his wife. He was intimately involved in every aspect of his household, supervising family devotions and taking upon himself the lion’s share of the intellectual, moral, and spiritual education of his children. In fact, I was surprised to learn, in “the colonial age, literature on parenting—such as sermons and childrearing manuals—typically addressed fathers instead of mothers.”

Pearcey, professor and scholar in residence at Houston Christian University and bestselling author of Total Truth and Love Thy Body, has done a prodigious amount of research on the state of the American family before and after the Industrial Revolution.

But she has not done so merely for the sake of illuminating the early history of our nation. She has done so to address one of the most pressing social problems of our day — the demonization of masculinity as inherently toxic. How did we arrive at our current state of affairs, Pearcey asks, what does it mean, and what can we do about it?

Let me begin by finishing the compelling, if tragic, story that Pearcey tells about the consequences of the Industrial Revolution on fathers and families. The need to leave the household unit for work did far more than reduce the amount of time men had with their wives and children. It catapulted them into a secular, amoral world that privileged competition, individualism, and acquisitiveness over cooperation, communalism, and stewardship.

As such, it fueled the effects of an Enlightenment-inspired split between the public Darwinian facts of the workplace and the private Christian values of the home — a split that further drove a wedge between the secular battlefield of business and the sacred refuge of the home, between the rational-logical-objective “masculine” world of working fathers and the emotional-pious-subjective “feminine” world of domestic mothers.

“From the time of the ancient Greeks,” Pearcey explains, “people had thought that knowing right from wrong was a rational insight, that men were more rational, and therefore, that men were more virtuous than women.” After the Industrial Revolution, along with Romanticism, reordered society and the sexes, virtue became inextricably linked to feeling and considered the purview of the female. Once “the moral and spiritual leaders of the household … men were [now] told that they were naturally crude and brutish, and that they needed to learn virtue from their wives.”

Sadly, this shift widened the gap between the sexes. Women began to accuse men, in private and public, of the same “toxic” behavior that they are accused of today. Men, in response, reacted by either deferring submissively to their wives’ moral superiority or giving themselves over to the very kind of debauchery that they were told was endemic to their masculine nature. Often, they did both at once, causing them to lead bifurcated lives between their amoral workplaces and their moralistically feminine homes.

Wives suffered dearly on account of this split, but so did their children. In addition to losing time with their fathers, they lost the moral example and the moral discipline that fathers had previously set and enforced. This had a particularly devastating effect upon boys who, reacting against the sentimentalized, feminine nature of morality, modeled themselves after the new, secular vision of masculinity as self-centered, hard-living, and commitment-avoiding. Like Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, these wild boys rejected the shrewishness and over-civilized prudery of their mothers and maiden aunts in favor of a primitive, savage, carefree life on the open road, the wild West, or the tameless sea.

These social forces culminated in two political movements that Pearcey allows us to see from a new perspective: women’s suffrage and temperance. It is well known that most women of the time were opposed to the suffrage movement. The reason for this was not that they were lazy or uneducated, but “because they understood clearly that universal suffrage implied a shift from the household to the individual as the basic unit of society.”

“[It] struck a blow to the concept of male responsibility. For if society accepted that a man voted as solely an individual, then it no longer held him morally responsible for representing the common good of the entire household,” writes Pearcey. The result was that men, to use a phrase that Pearcey repeats often in her book, were let off the hook and allowed to indulge their base and selfish desires.

As for temperance, Pearcey quotes academic studies to show that during the first half of the 19th century, the “number of taverns and saloons skyrocketed, and drinking reached an all-time high … alcohol consumption hit a peak in 1830, when average Americans drank three times as much as they do today.” This growth increased the separation of fathers from their homes and families and furthered the corruption of young men in flight from “female” religion. The women who fought to shut down the saloons were not fighting an abstract crusade against alcohol; they were fighting to protect their homes and their children from a kind of masculinity that was truly toxic.

    Restoring Masculine Headship
In tracing these historical forces, Pearcey makes full use of her signature strengths, combining academic rigor with lucid accessibility, blending overlooked primary sources with cutting-edge sociological research, and humanizing history with stories of real people, including her own personal experience as the daughter of a verbally and physically abusive father. She also, as she does in all her books, quotes fairly the thinkers (and pundits) with whom she disagrees.

Chief among those with whom she disagrees are secular and Christian public intellectuals who never tire of quoting the “fact” that evangelical Christians divorce at the same rate as the secular world. This well-known “fact,” Pearcey proves by quoting the most reliable sociological studies, is both wrong and deceptive. If “evangelical” means someone who identifies as such on surveys, then the “fact” is true. However, when a distinction is made between nominal evangelicals and evangelicals who attend church and live under the authority of Christ and the Bible, an astounding truth emerges.

“Compared to secular men, devout Christian family men who attend church regularly are more loving husbands and more engaged fathers. They have the lowest rate of divorce. And astonishingly, they have the lowest rate of domestic violence of any major group in America,” she writes. In sharp contrast, “nominal Christian men have the highest rates of divorce and domestic violence—even higher than secular men.”

The evidence, Pearcey shows, not only gives the lie to the supposedly equivalent rates of divorce in the evangelical and secular communities; it explodes the claims made by feminists and the secular media that evangelical notions of complementary headship and submission are a breeding ground for violence against women.

“It seems,” Pearcey explains, “that many nominal men hang around the fringes of the Christian world just enough to hear the language of headship and submission but not enough to learn the biblical meaning of those terms.” Evangelicals who know and believe the true meaning of biblical headship practice it in relation to their wives — who report the highest rates of happiness among American women — and their children.

Churchgoing dads are “the least likely to yell at their children” and “the most likely to be warm and affectionate” and they “spend more time in activities with their children, such as eating meals together, reading to them, playing games, coaching sports, attending school activities, and leading a church youth group. All told, religiously active fathers spend about 3.5 more hours per week with their children compared to secular fathers.”

If we are serious about protecting women and children from abuse, abandonment, and other male-inflicted traumas, then we need to do two seemingly opposite things simultaneously. First, we must stop treating men as if they were toxic merely because they are men. Male aggression is not, in and of itself, a toxic thing; to the contrary, it is a natural component of the masculinity that God created and called good. It is not aggression, but the misuse of it, that makes a man toxic. Channeled properly, aggression empowers men to protect and provide for their families.

Second, we must hold men to a higher standard and praise them when they achieve that standard. They must be encouraged to take back their traditional, God-ordained role as head of the household, not to lord it over their families, but to love and serve them as Christ does the church. Fathers who do so bring joy and stability to their wives and children, while gaining for themselves a deeper sense of purpose and dignity. Research, Pearcey reports, “has found that becoming a father brings about a significant improvement in men’s well-being and mental health.”

In the closing chapters of her book, Pearcey offers helpful advice for identifying behavior that is truly toxic and calls on churches to hold men accountable when they give way to such behavior. But she also calls upon churches to lead the way to recovery by modeling a workplace ethos that assists and rewards employees, male or female, who intentionally balance their duties to their workplace and to their families. If they do so, Pearcey promises, they will discover what many secular critics and companies have already learned: “Parents who are committed to family time may work fewer hours … [b]ut parenting makes them more effective when they’re on the job.”

Everyone in America who cares about the future of the family must read The Toxic War on Masculinity. And they must encourage their secular friends to do so as well. Pearcey provides the history, the data, and the biblical and sociological analysis necessary to transform the toxic war being waged against masculinity into a movement to reconcile the sexes and restore men to the responsibility of running their households in a loving, godly, community-building way.

The Secret Service on Monday told reporters there is still no suspect in the Biden White House cocaine scandal.

    They are completely baffled.

But, gosh darnit, they will keep on looking for the culprit who left a bag of cocaine in the library, east wing, west wing, trafficked hallway, near Kamaala’s parking spot… They keep changing their story which is not suspicious at all.

The Secret Service originally said the coke was found in the library. Then the story started changing.

Tuesday, July 11, 2023: 559 Days Left in Biden Presidency and Still No Serious Criminal Indictments.

Marco Polo, a 501(c)3 organization, has produced a 641-page full-color book entitled “Report on the Biden Laptop” that can be read in its entirety here and downloaded free as a .pdf file here. Every weekday, TGF plans to detail the Marco Polo allegations of Biden Family crimes as graphically portrayed (with reference to the page numbers in the Marco Polo “Report on the Biden Laptop.”In their published report, Marco Polo details their evidence for what Marco Polo claims are 459 Biden family crimes. TGP will not publish the sexually explicit photographs from the Hunter Biden laptop that can be seen independently in the Marco Polo report. TGP’s goal is to draw the attention of readers to reporting done by Marco Polo. Nothing Marco Polo reported chronicling of Biden family alleged crimes has been altered by TGP. Our goal is to drive readers to download and read the Marco Polo report for themselves to make their own independent judgments.

Pages 84-86 of the Marco Polo report detail the relationship between Hunter and the female shown below that occurred in Washington, D.C., dated to June 12, 2018. Marco Polo alleges the relation involved a Biden family egregious ethical lapse, as i Messages between the two revealed that Hunter would make up for the female’s “back pay” if—and only if—she performed sexual acts in person or via FaceTime.

In the Nation’s capital, Hunter solicited—and took explicit photos of—a female who was described in SAR #2 [Suspicious Activity Report, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency], submitted to the U.S. Department of Treasury.

Marco Polo concluded: “Hunter clearly violated the federal statute in question and he paid for the female’s airfare to D.C.” (page 86).

TGP wants to know what, if anything, the Biden administration has done to investigate the Marco Polo allegations of Biden Family Crime #2 as reported by Marco Polo. TGP suspects the Biden administration is engaged in a continuing coverup, reflecting a. political bias aimed at excusing Democrats while seeking to imprison Republicans in politically motivated FBI criminal investigations and DOJ criminal indictments.

  13. Prison Reparations: California Democrats Propose Racial Consideration in Court Sentencing
    By Jim Hoft Jul. 11, 2023 8:30 am188 Comments

A controversial new bill, supported by the Democratic party and currently making its way through the California legislature, seeks to require judges to take a convict’s race into account when determining the duration of their prison sentence.

Assembly Member Reggie Jones-Sawyer, who chairs the Public Safety Committee of the California Assembly, introduced Bill 852 earlier this year.

“It is the intent of the Legislature to rectify the racial bias that has historically permeated our criminal justice system as documented by the California Task Force to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African Americans,” the bill read.

“Whenever the court has discretion to determine the appropriate sentence according to relevant statutes and the sentencing rules of the Judicial Council, the court presiding over a criminal matter shall consider the disparate impact on historically disenfranchised and system-impacted populations,” it added.

[Exclusive] Hyundai’s ‘walking vehicle’ obtains US patents
Carmaker’s vision of ‘ultimate mobility’ inches closer to reality
    By Kan Hyeong-woo Published : Jul 11, 2023 – 15:48
    Updated : Jul 11, 2023 – 17:45

Hyundai Motor Group has obtained patents for walking vehicles in the US, taking the next step in making the South Korean auto giant’s futuristic four-legged cars a reality.

According to the US Patent and Trademark Office on Tuesday, two patent applications for walking vehicles were published under the names of both Hyundai and Kia on July 6, about 19 months after the two companies filed for the patents on Dec. 31, 2021.

The patents protect the technologies of Hyundai’s concept car, Elevate, an electric vehicle that can transition between driving on flat surfaces with wheels and walking over the most treacherous terrains with robotic legs.

The automaker showcased a small prototype of Elevate for the first time at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2019. With its ability to mimic both mammalian and reptilian gaits, Hyundai Motor touted Elevate’s capacity to play a multi-purpose role in exploration, construction and disaster relief where fully accessible roads are not available.

“Companies try to establish maximum protection for their future products before commercialization. … Patents serve as an indicator that shows the direction in which a firm is headed,” said Kim Pil-su, an automotive engineering professor at Daelim University.

“Through the patent registration, (Hyundai Motor Group) intends to become a pioneer in the market for specialized robot mobility that can navigate through unusual terrains.”

Lee Tae-hoon, a patent attorney, also placed importance on the latest patent registration, saying “If a company has a patent in several countries, it is likely that the company sees the technology as important and could be thinking about commercializing it.”

The Elevate concept was co-developed by Hyundai Cradle, the automaker’s open innovation center, and Sundberg-Ferar, a US design company. Hyundai later launched New Horizons Studio, a unit focused on the development of Ultimate Mobility vehicles, in September 2020.

An image of Hyundai Motor Group’s four-legged vehicle, Elevate (Hyundai Motor Group)
“When a tsunami or earthquake hits, current rescue vehicles can only deliver first responders to the edge of the debris field. They have to go the rest of the way by foot. Elevate can drive to the scene and climb right over flood debris or crumbled concrete,” said John Suh, then head of Hyundai Cradle, at the 2019 unveiling event.

According to Hyundai, Elevate is capable of climbing a 1.5-meter wall, stepping over a 1.5-meter gap and navigating through different terrains at an average speed of 5 kilometers per hour while maintaining its main body and passenger level. The company said the vehicle could drive at high speeds just like any other car on the road when the robotic legs are folded away and the wheels begin rolling.

Hyundai Motor has continued to further advance its vision of the ultimate mobility vehicle. In February 2021, New Horizons Studio also unveiled the concept model of Transforming Intelligent Ground Excursion Robot, dubbed TIGER, a multi-purpose vehicle that has wheels on robotic legs in a similar fashion to Elevate. The biggest difference between Elevate and TIGER is that the former can carry passengers and the latter is an unmanned machine.

Professor Kim noted that Hyundai already has the world’s best walking robot technology with the 2020 acquisition of Boston Dynamics, pinning high hopes on future collaboration between the two firms.

“Boston Dynamics has great technology but they couldn’t fully commercialize it. That’s why Hyundai Motor Group stepped in,” he said. Boston Dynamics is well-known for its signature four-legged robot dog, Spot.

In January this year, Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Chung Euisun highlighted the importance of future mobility and robotics during a New Year’s speech to employees.

“We (plan to) present (purpose-built vehicles) that fit the transportation goals of both people and objects to the market in earnest,” said Chung.

French “civil war”? Or a Gladio operation triggered by US Globalist class?

On UK Column News 5th July I unpack the recent increase in violence in France and the surge of right-wing propaganda criminalising France’s Muslim population.

For context I include an excerpt of something I wrote in 2021 about the 1961 massacre of Algerian refugees in Paris and I recommend watching this short animated movie called Tears of the Seine.

The refusal to recognize victims boils down to a message that one person’s life doesn’t have the same value as another’s. And 17 October 1961 shows that the life of an Algerian was worth very little.

This sign of contempt and injustice is still felt in diffuse ways by new generations of young people—and it contributes to their sense of revolt. ~ Moshen Abdelmoumen

  21. The Jerusalem Post featured a deeply submissive, oBiden appeasing editorial. Beautifully crafted as usual by Yekkes.

Biden warns against ‘extreme’ members in Israeli gov’t – editorial
Biden’s remarks should raise alarms in Jerusalem. A public fallout at this level between the president of the US and the Israeli PM could have a deeply detrimental ripple effect.
    https://www.jpost.com/opinion/article-749522
    …….

Jonathan Tobin has always been slightly left of center, and off base altogether on Bibi. So his response is – to say the least – refreshing.

Netanyahu’s still in charge. Can Biden say the same?
The president’s latest shot at the Israeli government as “extreme” is hypocritical and inaccurate. The Palestinians remain the obstacle to peace.

The question of denying Netanyahu the courtesy of a visit is mere optics. What matters is that Biden has spent 2023 doing everything in his power to undermine the prime minister and aid those seeking to topple his government.

A major feature of that effort is the administration’s open opposition to the government’s legislation that seeks to reform Israel’s out-of-control Supreme Court and judicial system. The backing for the “anti-Bibi resistance” that has spent the last six months trying to overturn the results of Israel’s November 2022 election is highly ironic given the Democratic Party’s attitude to supporters of former President Donald Trump, who regard Biden as an illegitimate president.

The Israeli effort has been influenced by the success of the anti-Trump resistance that spent his four years in office seeking to delegitimize his victory in 2016 while promoting conspiracy theories about the Russian collusion hoax.

Clearly, Biden is hoping that Netanyahu’s opponents succeed, though the chances of that happening are receding with each passing month. And they are fading precisely because Biden’s evaluation of that government, coupled with the implication that Netanyahu is not in control and at the mercy of its most right-wing elements, is completely false…

[Biden’s] belief that the surge in Palestinian terrorism is a reaction to internal Israeli politics is absurd…

Bashing Israel and Netanyahu won’t fix that. But Biden isn’t really interested in peace. He may want an Israeli government that will, like the “anybody-but-Bibi” coalition that ran the country from June 2021 to December 2022, neglect the security situation in the territories.

What he really wants is one that will do his bidding when it comes to American efforts to appease Iran and its nuclear ambitions. And that is something that Netanyahu will never do.

It is because Netanyahu remains a strong leader who is very much in charge of things that Biden wants him out. The same applies to Israeli leftists who fear that judicial reform will end the juristocracy that effectively prevents the right from governing no matter who wins elections. They are determined to destroy Netanyahu by fair means or foul.

It is also worth noting that Biden is guilty of doing exactly what he claims is going on in Israel. Though elected as a moderate who would return normalcy to America after Trump, Biden has governed as if he is in thrall to the extreme left wing of his party…

Biden’s war on the Netanyahu government isn’t promoting peace or strengthening U.S. interests in the Middle East. By fighting a losing battle aimed at ousting a Democratically elected government, he is drawing attention to his own weaknesses.

  22. US proposes Israeli concession for removal of Hezbollah outpost

On July 5, several Hezbollah terrorists and dozens of armed Lebanese army soldiers briefly entered Israeli territory. The incident occurred in the area of Menara, a kibbutz adjacent to the Lebanese border in the Upper Galilee region, while the IDF was carrying out work on the border area.

The Hezbollah operatives and uniformed Lebanese soldiers reportedly stayed on the Israeli side of the border for about 20 minutes. The IDF attempted to resolve the issue via liaising with UNIFIL.

A day later, the Israeli military carried out strikes against a missile launch site in southern Lebanon after rockets were fired toward Israeli territory. It is believed that the missiles were fired by Palestinian factions and not by Hezbollah.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry revealed in May that Hezbollah has in the past year constructed no fewer than 27 military posts along the Blue Line.

The posts were built under the guise of GREEN WITHOUT BORDERS, a Hezbollah-affiliated organization that poses as an environmental NGO.

Hezbollah launched the project in parallel to Israel’s construction of a fortified perimeter fence along the 140 kilometer (90 mile) border.

According to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 Second Lebanon War, the terrorist group is forbidden from operating near the frontier.

Since the UN chooses not to do its job, Israel has to make concessions to an enemy sworn to its destruction? That’s cool with this simulacrum of the USA?

    • Seth Frantzman:
Hezbollah learned from maritime deal how to threaten Israel – analysis
The new story relates to Hezbollah’s demands regarding northern Israel and its claims that there are new disputed in Mount Dov and Ghajar.

This is the pattern. Last October NPR noted “the crux of the conflict was who gets to drill for natural gas in disputed waters off the Mediterranean coast. More than a decade of US mediation – with some recent saber-rattling by the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah – led to a compromise on the drilling rights, announced by the US, Israel and Lebanon.”

Once the deal was done in October, the alert for a possible confrontation was reduced. Hezbollah had been increasing its threats throughout 2022. This showed Hezbollah could create the “risk” of war over random claims.…

Al-Ain media in the Gulf notes that “Lebanon has expressed its willingness to demarcate the land border with Israel immediately, following the tensions of what has become known as the ‘tent crisis’, set up by Hezbollah.”

This is an example of how Hezbollah operates and conducts Lebanon’s foreign and defense policy. Hezbollah illegally stockpiles weapons and sets up tents in a disputed area.

Then the Lebanese government follows that up with territorial demands against Israel. Hezbollah learned this from the maritime deal. It works in concert with Beirut, where Beirut is the “carrot” and Hezbollah the “stick” used in concert to try to get concessions and threaten war.

Must be Ethiopian-Israeli. A POC. That puts the harpies in Congress in a bind. They’ll just quietly let the story die.

  25. How to diminish the glow around Putin?
    Make him a jooo!

    Putin is a Jew

Russian President Vladimir Putin – half-Jewish by nationality on the mother’s side – such sensational data were published by a number of domestic and foreign media outlets. In support of this fact, the publication cites a document – an application for the issuance of a new passport of the citizen of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, dated December 30, 2000, which indicates the nationality of the parents. According to official data, the father of the current president, Putin, Vladimir Spiridonovich, is Russian by nationality, and the mother of the head of state, Maria Ivanovna Shelomov, is listed as Jewish.

Of course, these personal facts from the biography of the country’s first person will remain secret…
