Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

      On Monday FOX News fired Tucker Carlson, their top-rated prime-time host. Like FOX hosts before him, Tucker’s final show was on Friday. He was not allowed back on the air.

      On Tuesday morning Steve Bannon took aim at the Murdochs and FOX News. Steve urged the War Room posse to turn off FOX.

      Steve Bannon then explained what might be taking place at FOX News. The Murdochs may have blocked Tucker Carlson, the leading prime-time populist voice from airwaves through the 2024 election.

      That way they chop-block Trump during the 2024 campaign.

      Thy want to the American people from the populist message.

      Steve Bannon: And, here’s what the Tucker drill is going to be. He’s got a long-term contract. The Wall Street Journal said yesterday that he was negotiating an extension to 2029. Right? And I think he still has got a couple of years, two or three years left on the contract. Just like Lou Dobbs and the other guys. They pay him out under the terms because they don’t want to set up their competitors. They pay him out the $20 million. He doesn’t have the option of going somewhere else. This is to take the voice of Populism and the voice of MAGA off of primetime. As I said in that speech, if DeSantis is not the guy to do it, they’ll find Glenn Youngkin or Tim Scott or Brian Kemp. They’ll find anybody to chop-block Trump in the primary. If that doesn’t work, they’ll get in back of Joe Biden. Right? And it’s all about stopping Trump and stopping MAGA…

      …I think what they’re going to do is try to pay him out on his contract. And just like they do with Lou Dobbs, other guys, and Megan Kelly. Tt’s only when your contract expires can then you start your podcast… This play, I believe, and I could be wrong, this play is to make sure that the Trump movement MAGA, and even where Tucker maybe is not full MAGA, he covers the issues in a sophisticated way for the audience to be able to kind of say, okay, I understand this, and grapple onto it. If you look at the punch list of what he covers, it’s amazing. They want that off primetime. They don’t want to give any support to Trump.

      According to the Blaze, Fox News viewers are responding by cancelling their subscriptions to Fox Nation “at a record rate.” Fox Nation is a highly profitable subscription on demand video service with a variety of original programming. Tucker and other prominent Fox News anchors have had multiple specials on Fox Nation.

      Tucker was the only reason thousands of Americans subscribed to Fox Nation, however. If social media is to be believed, the subscription service is about to go bust.

      In the final speech he gave as a Fox News host, Tucker Carlson saluted the bravery of those who take the road less traveled and the position less popular.

      Carlson gave the keynote speech Friday night at an event in National Harbor, Maryland, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Heritage Foundation.

      On Monday, he was fired from Fox News, with no public reason given.

      In his speech, the longtime host of the cable ratings juggernaut “Tucker Carlson Tonight” spoke of people who “break under the strain, under the downward pressure of whatever this is that we’re going through.”

      “And you look with disdain and sadness as you see people you know become quislings, you see them revealed as cowards, you see them going along with a new, new thing, which is clearly a poisonous thing, a silly thing, saying things you know they don’t believe because they want to keep their jobs,” he said.

      Speaking of people who are dominated by the herd instinct, Carlson said, “I’m not mad at people; I’m just sad. I’m disappointed. How could you go along with this? You know it’s not true, but you’re saying it anyway. Really, you’re putting your pronouns in your email? You’re ridiculous. But no one else thinks it’s ridiculous. ‘Oh no, it’s the pronouns in the email.’”

      He said, “So, for every 10 people who are putting he and him in their electronic J.P. Morgan email signatures, there’s one person who’s like, ‘No, I’m not doing that. Sorry. I don’t want to fight, but I’m not doing that. It’s a betrayal of what I think is true. It’s a betrayal of my conscience, of my faith, of my sense of myself, of my dignity as a human being, of my autonomy.

      “‘I am not a slave. I am a free citizen, and I’m not doing that. And there’s nothing you can do to me to make me do it. I hope it won’t come to that, but if it does come to that, here I am. Here I am.’”

      “There is no thread that I can find that connects all of the people who’ve popped up in my life to be that lone, brave person in the crowd who says, ‘No, thank you,’” Carlson said.

      During his speech, Carlson attacked the abortion and transgender movements in a clip that has garnered millions of views on Twitter.

      “If you have people who are saying, ‘I have an idea. Let’s castrate the next generation. Let’s sexually mutilate children.’ I’m sorry, that’s not a political debate,” Carlson said. “What? That’s nothing to do with politics.

      “What’s the outcome we’re desiring here? An androgynous population? … Are we arguing for that? I don’t think anyone could, like, defend that as a positive outcome, but the weight of the government and a lot of corporate interests are behind that.”

      He said the abortion debate can include compassion for those caught up in terrible circumstances. “But when the Treasury secretary stands up and says, ‘You know what you can do to help the economy? Get an abortion.’ Well, that’s like an Aztec principle, actually,” Carlson said.

      “Well, what’s the point of child sacrifice?” he said. “Well, there’s no policy goal entwined with that. No, that’s a theological phenomenon.

    New York Rep. Dan Goldman really thinks he has the Midas touch.

    The multimillionaire Democrat and heir to the Levi Straus & Co. fortune has made more than 500 trades worth between $10 million and nearly $31 million since being sworn in as a congressman in January, a Post analysis of his disclosure forms reveals.

    As Congress considers a bipartisan bill banning members and their families from trading stock while in office, Goldman’s trading activity would make Gordon Gekko envious, his most recent filing shows.

    He is already far outpacing notorious congressional super-traders like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), Raw Story reported.

    His purchases and sales were in major sectors, including defense work, energy, pharmaceuticals, real estate, technology and tobacco.

    Goldman — who reps the famed Wall Street financial district along with other parts of Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn — sits on the Committee on Homeland Security and the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.

    Last month he bought up to $50,000 in defense contractor Northrop Grumman stock.

    He also scored up to $15,000 worth of stock in defense firms Raytheon Technologies and L3 Harris Technologies. The companies continue to rack up plenty of government work, with Raytheon being awarded a $237 million U.S. Army contract earlier this month to help detect and defeat unmanned aircraft.

    Why are members of Congress allowed to engage in what looks like insider trading?

    It’s also worth noting that Goldman was directly involved in the first Trump impeachment.

    Now it appears he is using his position in Congress to enrich himself. Anyone surprised?

    Left-wing protesters shut down the Montana House on Monday after transgender lawmaker Zooey Zephyr was barred from speaking.

    The activists were protesting the censure of transgender Democrat Rep. Zooey Zephyr that was led by the Montana Freedom Caucus.

    Rep. Zooey Zephyr is a biological male who wears ‘woman face’ and mocks real women.

    He was censured and barred from speaking on the House floor until he apologized for making hateful comments about Republicans and threatening them.

    The transgender lawmaker claimed that Republicans would have “blood on their hands” if they supported a bill to ban sex change surgeries and potentially-sterilizing hormone treatments for minors.

    “This body should be ashamed,” Zephyr said while speaking about the bill on the House floor last Tuesday. “If you vote yes on this bill and yes on these amendments, I hope the next time there’s an invocation, when you bow your heads in prayer, you see the blood on your hands.”

  16. Former FOX Hosts Bill O’Reilly and Megyn Kelly Share Their Thoughts on Tucker’s Termination

    Former FOX Stars Bill O’Reilly and Megyn Kelly both offered their thoughts on Tucker Carlson’s last day at FOX.

    Bill O’Reilly had the top show at FOX and at one time and then FOX let him go. He offered his thoughts on Tucker Carlson’s exit.

    In the middle of the morning meeting on Monday, Tucker’s team learned that Tucker would not be coming back – ever.

    The decision was made Sunday night.

    According to O’Reilly, there are lawsuits coming on the wake of Dominion. One with Smartmatic and one file and one waiting to be filed and O’Reilly says, “that was the key”.

    O’Reilly says one of the other cases is with a disgruntled former employee and the other is from Ray Epps who mentioned Tucker last night.

    The shareholders are angry about the large settlement to Dominion and they are going to go after FOX’s Board of Directors.
    The Board decided to clean things up and they fired Bongino last week and Tucker today. Tucker didn’t know.

    And that’s the nature of television news, the most wicked industry in the United States of America.

    Former FOX host Megyn Kelly shared during Monday’s episode of her Sirius XM “The Megyn Kelly Show” that it was a “terrible move.”

    Megyn Kelly tweeted her thoughts on the matter as well.
    Good for Tucker. Trust me, he doesn’t need them.

    It appears that FOX News is destroying itself, maybe for money, just like Drudge did in 2017. They too will soon be nonrelevant.

    San Francisco is a postcard from a driverless car future. Here’s what it’s like.

    SAN FRANCISCO — When the dense, iconic fog rolled in over the residential neighborhood of Balboa Terrace on a recent Tuesday, five matching white SUVs covered in cameras ground to a halt.

    Confused by the drop in visibility, the Google-owned electric Jaguar I-PACEs tried to pull over and wait out the weather — creating a brief traffic jam. But there was no one inside to yell at. The cars were empty autonomous cars run by software.

    It was just another day in the life of San Franciscans, who have noticed a sudden increase in the empty vehicles roaming the streets over the past few months. Google-owned Waymo and General Motors’ Cruise are some of the companies testing their autonomous technology here, training the cars on how to share the roads with less predictable humans and navigate real world situations. It’s happening in other cities as well, including Phoenix, Austin and parts of Los Angeles, and the companies have plans to expand to more locations in the coming year.

    While the vehicles have been tested here since 2018, they’ve more recently been allowed to drive around on roads during the daytime without safety drivers — people who are paid to be on standby in the driver’s seat in case something goes wrong. Waymo started one year ago, Cruise at the end of 2021, though they’ve been steadily increasing the numbers. That’s led to an uptick in incidents, residents say, from harmless traffic jams to accidents such as the rear-ending of a public bus.

    Living adjacent to Silicon Valley, San Franciscans are used to being beta test subjects for Big Tech. They’ve previously been privy to the launch of Uber and ride hailing, Airbnb short-term rentals, dockless electric scooters and sidewalk robots.

    But some residents are starting to question that arrangement, particularly as driverless-vehicle companies eye a next phase: offering rides to people in more places, 24 hours a day.

    “Tech companies see us as this place where they can find a higher tolerance for their shenanigans,” said Marita Murphy, 40, who works in audio production in the city. “I don’t feel, as someone who lives out here, that I have any control or say over that. It feels like we’re beholden to the will of these companies and their moneymaking motives.”

    Waymo acknowledged the fog-induced traffic jam and said its cars briefly pulled over for safety. Cruise is developing the technology to provide safer and more affordable green transportation options, said spokesman Drew Pusateri.

    Ghost cars take some getting used to

    For the most part, Cruise and Waymo’s empty cars move like diligent if nervous student drivers, never exceeding the speed limit, coming to a full stop at stop signs and hitting the brakes at the slightest hint of a problem. Often what’s most alarming to people isn’t how they move, but the sight of an empty car covered in cameras and sensors with a steering wheel moving on its own.

    “It’s just kind of uncomfortable, eerie, jarring. There’s a part of our brains that thinks, this doesn’t make sense,” said Molly McDermott, a San Francisco public school teacher in the city’s Mission District who has lived here for 15 years. “It’s a level of future I’m not ready for.”

    Joyce McKinney lives across from a public park that doubles as an unofficial parking spot for Waymo cars. She’ll see as many as three of them lined up on the side of the road, usually parallel parked. Once, one came to a stop in the middle of the road and blocked traffic for 15 minutes. Eventually, the cars spring to life and drive away.

    Despite glitches, she said, she thinks they’re as good as or better than local human drivers. “I feel far less menaced by the driverless cars than I do by the ones with people.”

    She is mostly concerned about what the technology could mean for the city — especially after witnessing the impact of ride-hailing businesses.

    “I feel Uber and Lyft had a terrible impact on San Francisco, and I would hate to see Waymo and Cruise driverless cars step into the breach and become, again, a glut on the city streets,” McKinney said.

    Move fast and hit brakes on things

    Facebook famously had the motto “Move fast and break things,” but that classic tech start-up approach is a different equation when it comes to driverless cars.

    There was no vote to allow the cars to be tested in San Francisco. The massive technology and automotive companies were given the go-ahead by state agencies, including the California Department of Motor Vehicles, and the city is limited in how much it can regulate the testing programs.

    “It’s not a town that’s unwelcoming to tech,” said Aaron Peskin, president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. “If you want to use San Francisco as a petri dish, you should probably ask for permission and collaboration rather than forgiveness, which has marked the tech bros’ industries use of San Francisco.”

    The city has passed regulations in response to entities such as Airbnb, limiting how many homes can be used solely as short-term rentals to ensure there’s more available housing. After they were launched, dockless electric scooters were scattered around the city until it regulated those as well.

    In January, the San Francisco County Transportation Authority wrote a 23-page letter to state agencies outlining the city’s concerns about autonomous vehicles and protesting the companies’ plans for expansion. Cruise wants to expand its paid ride-hailing service to the entire city without time restrictions.

    Peskin said the companies have been less than cooperative and forthcoming with local officials, who have concerns about safety, transparency, privacy and inconvenience.

    “This could lead to a safer world of transportation and less congestion. It could also be a dystopian nightmare,” Peskin said.

    Cruise spokesman Pusateri said that the company is sorry for any inconveniences but that they should be viewed against the injuries and deaths caused by human driven cars in San Francisco. Waymo said incidents are infrequent relative to how many autonomous miles the cars are driving. The cars’ driving abilities improve with each new software release, said David Margines, group product manager at Waymo.

    The unexpected seems to be one of the biggest issues for self-driving cars, and the culprit in their most high-profile incidents. The cars can get confused, freeze and even crash when they encounter an entirely new scenario that hasn’t been preprogrammed in.

    After a series of dangerous storms hammered the area in March, at least one Waymo car couldn’t figure out how to get around a tree and came to a standstill in an intersection. More recently, a Cruise car collided with the back of a city articulated bus, which has two sections and is significantly longer than regular buses. GM said it updated its 300 cars to reprogram them to better understand the buses.

    Even more dangerous, the cars struggle at emergency sites. At one active fire, a firefighter had to break out the window of the Cruise car to stop it from running over a hose. At another, a car ran over a fire hose that was being used, according to the San Francisco County Transportation Authority letter.

    A death is everyone’s biggest fear, and almost guaranteed to happen again at some point. In 2018, an autonomous Uber car with a distracted safety driver at the wheel hit and killed 49-year-old Elaine Herzberg as she was pushing her bike across a road at night in Tempe, Ariz.

    The car’s system didn’t account for the possibility that a person would cross the street outside of a crosswalk, according to investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board. Uber shut down its driverless car program in 2020 and is now working with outside car companies.

    Adapting to a robot-car world

    While the cars are learning how to deal with the quirks of human behavior, humans are learning how to deal with the cars.

    “These autonomous systems can’t be social, so we have to be extra social, we have to yield,” said Sally Applin, an anthropologist who studies the intersection between people, algorithms and ethics. “I sometimes wonder if it’s even possible to teach a car all of the possible interactions it could have.”

    The lack of eye contact can be unnerving for pedestrians, as well as parents who teach their kids to make sure they have a driver’s attention before walking in front of them. Waving, looking, smiling and nodding are mostly useless with driverless cars. They have to be replaced by a blind trust that the car’s systems will spot you.

    The car companies say they have already worked on teaching cars to recognize hand gestures, like a traffic officer would make.

    Anna Limkin, who lives in San Francisco’s Noe Valley neighborhood, doesn’t have that trust in the technology. “Tech doesn’t yet exist to replicate the senses that we have that allow us to escape, offset or prevent an accident,” Limkin said.

    In a twist, some people like to test the cars, and have been known to lunge at them or jump in front of them to see if they’ll stop.

    • SUDAN – ‘High bio-hazard risk’ in Sudan after laboratory seized, WHO says

      GENEVA, April 25 (Reuters) – There is a “high risk of biological hazard” in the Sudanese capital Khartoum after one of the warring parties seized a laboratory holding measles and cholera pathogens and other hazardous materials, the World Health Organization said on Tuesday.

      Speaking to reporters in Geneva via video link from Sudan, the WHO’s Nima Saeed Abid said technicians were unable to access the National Public Health Laboratory to secure the materials.

      “This is the main concern: no accessibility to the lab technicians to go to the lab and safely contain the biological material and substances available,” he said, declining to specify which side had seized the facility.

      Fighting erupted between the Sudanese armed forces and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitaries on April 15 and has killed at least 459 people and injured 4,072, according to the WHO’s latest figures.

      The clashes have paralysed hospitals and other essential services, and left many stranded in their homes with dwindling supplies of food and water.

      The United Nations humanitarian office (OCHA) has been forced to cut back on some of its activities in parts of Sudan due to intense fighting.

      At least five aid workers have been killed since fighting broke out and the two U.N. agencies who lost staff, the International Organization for Migration and the World Food Programme, have suspended their activities.

      “In areas where intense fighting has hampered our humanitarian operations, we have been forced to reduce our footprint,” said Jens Laerke, spokesperson for the OCHA. “But we are committed to continue to deliver for the people of Sudan.”

      He said an OCHA team would be leading humanitarian operations out of Port Sudan after transferring from Khartoum.

      Patrick Youssef, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Regional Director for Africa, urged other countries to continue pressure on Sudan to find a “long-lasting solution”, even after foreigners had been evacuated.

      KHARTOUM, April 25 (Reuters) – Fighting in Sudan eased on Tuesday and more foreigners and locals fled the capital Khartoum, where marauding combatants created what a U.N. agency said was a “high risk of biological hazard” by seizing a laboratory.

      The World Health Organization said one of the warring parties had taken control of a national health facility that stores measles and cholera pathogens for vaccinations, and ejected the technicians.

      It gave few details and did not say which of the two sides – the army or the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF)- had captured the lab, which also contains a major blood bank.

      An exodus of embassies and aid workers from Africa’s third largest country has raised fears that civilians who remain will be in greater danger if an alternative to hostilities is not found before a shaky three-day truce ends on Thursday.

      Yassir Arman, a leading figure in a civilian political coalition, the Forces for Freedom and Change (FFC), urged humanitarian groups and the international community to help restore water and electricity, and send generators to hospitals.

      “There are bodies scattered in streets and sick people who cannot find medicine, no water nor electricity. People should be allowed to bury their dead during the ceasefire,” he said.

      The U.N. humanitarian office (OCHA) said shortages of food, water, medicines and fuel were becoming extremely acute, with prices for basic goods including bottled water rocketing.

    Lessons from the new century: What government must not have the power to do
    Ponder, or perish.

    It will be my endeavor to keep this brief and focused, because my main purpose is to introduce a way of thinking that is antithetical to what many people now assume government must be and do. This is necessary because those assumptions fatally hinder us in all our attempts to throw off the juggernaut of the administrative state.

    The central reason for proposing this way of thinking is to construct a framework for a new constitutional convention. I have zero interest in using anyone’s current buzzwords or specific definitions for this process: I mean by it that a convention like the one that began in 1787 occurs again, and modifications are made to the existing U.S. Constitution. The purpose of such modifications would be to impose restraints on government that have been gutted since 1789, or whose necessity was not foreseen when the Constitution was first written.

    I don’t have specifically-crafted amendments to propose. That would be putting the cart before the horse. What I have here is a case that rethinking what we expect of government must come first, and that we badly need to rethink what we expect of government. Our failure to do so is killing us.

    The root of this problem doesn’t lie in the original work done by America’s Founders. That work was the best and most remarkable such effort in human history, and we need not tinker with its original intent. Its original intent was in every way to limit the scope and development of government, and that is what we should continue to want.

    The root of the problem is the essential idea of progressivism that so-called “expertise” should take decisions about their own lives out of the hands of the people, and that government should on this premise arbitrarily manage more and more activities of human life to secure outcomes desired by the “experts.”

    In its essence and operation, progressivism functions as a religion. It claims for itself revelation about a higher good – an unreviewable quantity we are morally required to accept on any topic – and posits that limiting government denies us outcomes ordered according to that higher good.

    But instead of actually being a prior-existing set of moral beliefs, which government can be required to honor in some of its arrangements and priorities, the “progressive” element of progressivism is its purpose of instituting different beliefs not already held by the people. The attempted institution of different beliefs is deemed to be “progress.” (Rejecting the social construct of slavery is often used to advocate for progressivism, but progressivism had nothing to do with getting rid of slavery. The timeline alone confirms that, but in ironic fact, slavery cannot exist as an institution without an administrative state enforcing it. That disjunctive condition of an America striving for limited government, while trying to accommodate an unlimited concept of government that acted arbitrarily against a whole segment of the population, was untenable. It nearly destroyed the Union, and could only be resolved by removing the arbitrary evil itself.)

    Moreover, a progressive administrative state has never delivered on its political promises. The problems it purports to address through arbitrary administration – through regulatory mandates, prohibitions, spending – not only don’t go away; they just get bigger and bigger by the decade, according to the reckoning of the “experts.”

    No loss of freedom, no cost in burdens on the taxpayers, is ever enough to finally yield the promised outcomes of benefits to society. The outcomes remain always out of reach. Every loss of freedom and every regulatory and spending cost is pocketed and moved on from. The people are not just encouraged but taught, and eventually ordered, to forget that we’ve actually been addressing the same problems for decades with “expertise” and management.

    We no longer live in freedom, as a result. People’s free choices are not the problem today.

    The progressive government management is the problem. There isn’t one single “capitalist” transaction today, for example, that is not already regulated by dozens of government agencies and used for political rent-seeking. Not one. There is no such thing as “capitalism” having an effect on us; there is only government regulation and political exploitation of heavily managed economic transactions affecting us. College sophomores are ill-taught on this matter, and have been for years. In most schools, they are never taught about the overweening reality of already-existing regulation and mandates.

    This state of governmental affairs is not what the Founders had in mind. They saw quite clearly the moral hazard posed by what the Declaration of Independence calls the British king’s “swarms of officers”: “He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass [sic] our people, and eat out their substance.” The hazard is that such arrangements are never temporary, and are held to no standard of performance other than perpetuating their usefulness as arbitrary enforcement and collection agents for the central government.

    Growing the dozens of agencies happened first, as over the last century various new technologies and theories of expertise in “public management” produced enthusiasms for those agencies and their charters. It was at the end of the century, which had started in earnest in the 1910s, that Americans began to understand how the swarms of officers they had signed up for could be used against them. One day, it seemed, we looked up and most of our freedom was gone. A government chartered and equipped over the course of decades finally decided to use its power in ways that were too onerous, too alarming, too enslaving to any longer escape notice.

    It is sad and pathetic that extremely over-administered younger generations imagine themselves to be at risk from the attacks of “freedom,” when they haven’t lived a day in their entire lives in the freedom Americans once had.

    But if the course of our nation is to be righted again, it is imperative that we deal with that problem. And the best way to deal with it – the quintessentially American way – is to look at it as a problem of articulating realistic, good-faith expectations about government (i.e., not mere ideological or aspirational proclamations), and designing the arrangements of government to meet those expectations.

    Quintessentially, again, that will be about two faces of a coin: what government must do, and what it must not do. We need to agree on a philosophy of government that applies the original premises of our Founders to lessons we have learned in the “Information Age.”

    The key original premises are two. First, government exists to secure a certain very limited but far-reaching number of rights for its citizens. This is what government must do: secure those rights. Life, liberty, and equal access to opportunity – not to outcomes, but to opportunity – are the main ones, and arguably the only ones.

    The other face of the coin is what government must not do. The Bill of Rights is a historically amazing statement of that concept. The core meaning of constitutionalism is found in it. Government must not do what it is constitutionally prohibited from doing, no matter how hard transient political factions maneuver to wield government in prohibited ways.

    Thinking aids for addressing the fundamentals

    I won’t be proposing here a specific set of axioms for the “next constitutional convention.” That must come later.

    But I believe the axioms have to derive from a common perspective on what government has any business doing – and it’s on the latter point that we have strayed, inch by inch, a very long way from the first Constitutional Convention’s healthy, ground-breaking view of the matter.

    I would group the issues into at least two categories. The first we might call our view of what is made possible – for government or any other entity with sufficient power – by shifts in technology, the knowledge gained by “science,” and the spread of information, both to humans and through or into the systems that serve us.

    For brevity, I’ll refer to this as the information phenomenon. Here is my basic proposition on it. Cumulative changes in capability over the last 150 years have given us a sense that because we understand more, we can control more. Imagining ourselves able to control more, we have created charter after charter for government agencies to take a current “understanding” of how our world operates and administer mandates and prohibitions, ukases that coerce human beings, to secure specified outcomes.

    Examples abound, including things like the narratives of “fighting climate change”; performing “large landscape management” in which we posit that we are taking epoch-level measures to preserve “ecosystems” by trying to fence off prairie chickens and smelt fish or regulate transient puddles of water; and recently – jarringly – trying to force billions of people to adopt a lifestyle of receiving unending “vaccines” on an unprecedented schedule, as if the option didn’t exist of leveraging less-intrusive treatment and the human immune system to defeat a new virus, rather than adjusting our entire lives and future to it.

    Invoking all of these things, and many others, has produced, even in America, a dramatic change in the relationship of human beings to their government.

    But my point is, that does not have to be. We don’t have to accept it, any more than the American colonists of the 1770s and 1780s had to accept that the technology allowing routine, scheduled visits from King George III’s troops meant the colonists should be subject to gun confiscation and taxation without representation.

    These alterations in man-state relations have significantly and negatively affected the rights government is supposed to protect: life, liberty, the property and opportunity elements of what the Declaration calls the “pursuit of happiness.”

    The first two enterprises, “fighting climate change” and “large landscape management,” are on a career of completely negating property and opportunity rights. All three examples – though the first and third most particularly – threaten life and liberty. We might certainly add longer-running policies like government advocacy for and support of abortion and welfare dependency, which purport to operate as systematic, rationally-conceived ways to address poverty.

    That’s where our thinking has to start. On the “two faces of the coin” model, government should (a) protect our rights from anyone attempting to wield changes in technology and common views of knowledge and competence against those rights; and government should (b) be restrained from making such attempts itself.

    But it doesn’t, and it isn’t.

    It is a genuine emergency of government power – power being abused – that instead of protecting our rights and living within proper restraints, government today is the worst arbitrary, unrestrained abuser of our rights.

    The second category, while it significantly overlaps the first is some ways, is a separate facet of the abuse of government power. It has to do with a Marxist-era phenomenon of collective manipulation of the people against each other. We may refer to it as the collective manipulation phenomenon.

    Examples include the infrastructure of income tax, which has been used incessantly from Day One to set us against each other and create a whole host of new crimes and new political footballs (e.g., the idea of “fair share” taxation as a means of managing an unquantifiable condition of “fairness,” instead of just collecting the taxes to pay for government); government having opinions on people’s sexual practices, such that it enforces condoning those practices on the entire population; and government using social mores in general as a basis for declaring threats to society, and creating excuses for intruding into people’s private homes, seizing children from parents, and proclaiming categories of people unemployable.

    There are many, many more examples along these lines. The divisive resentments fostered by “critical race theory,” as it translates to classroom instruction and politics, constitute a huge batch of them.

    Yet there should be no such things as government agencies, especially at the federal level, with the authority and power to vilify ideas and groups of people and ruin lives over these elements of the human condition.

    Rather, we have the right to have our lives, liberty, opportunity, property, and moral equality before the law protected against such attempts. Government should protect us against them, and government should be restrained from making those attempts itself.

    Due-outs

    What I want people to think about is what the Framers of the U.S. Constitution thought about, in convention assembled, from 1787 to 1789: how to turn this principle in its essential aspects into constitutional guarantees and a relevant design for government.

    Those Framers thought in a different time. They didn’t foresee either of the phenomena I’ve outlined here; the closest was probably their understanding (much better and fresher than ours) that it’s terribly divisive for the state to take sides in religion. They were well-versed in the religious wars of the 200-odd years preceding their time. Social division and vilification are not new; what the Framers didn’t foresee was a quasi-“scientific” philosophy like Marxism generating its own pattern of collectivist thought-enforcement and demographic demonization. They didn’t foresee how technology could amplify the effects of that to a truly terrible level of inescapability.

    We should come out of a next constitutional convention both wiser about the hazards of new-era enthusiasms (technology, Marxism, progressivism, the delusions of information arrogance) and with an idea of government that repudiates them, and resists giving them a seat at the Constitution’s table.

    One major example of what I predict as the outcome is drastically eliminating government executive agencies and setting nearly insuperable limits on recreating them. But there are bound to be other features of a plan to reinforce guarantees of rights, and set effectively unbreachable constitutional limits. What we cannot dispense with in this process is pondering anew, at the same basic level our Founders did, what we expect government to do for us.

    Ignoring the heavy thinking about what government really exists for is what gets us into trouble. All the myriad human issues and topics we disagree on are going to come and go. There’s no stopping that. Disagreement on a scrolling list of issues is inevitable.

    But the only way to be fortified against abuse of government power is to agree on what government is for. Government is not a suitable or proper vehicle for addressing most of what we’ve handed over to it today.

    We need to be able to say that government is not for “redistributing income”; that it is not for changing the public’s mind about sexual mores or parental rights and responsibilities; that it is not for continually redefining “race relations” so that “racism” never ends; that it is not for imposing a single way of thinking about all “social issues” on 330 million people.

    Our government must reflect this premise – that there are numerous things it isn’t suited for, and very dangerous when used for – in as many dimensions as necessary to keep it from violating its original, proper, and most basic charter.

    This is work we have to do. There is no such option as merely reverting to the conditions of public thought and dialogue as they existed in 1789.

    Powerful trends have altered our civilization’s mindset since then. They have to be answered, put in their place, defeated in their attempt to rob us of moral value, dignity, rights, and virtues. We have to reestablish why government must protect certain rights, and must also be restrained from violating them. Since we have manifestly failed to make government continue those obligations under the assault of the last 150 years, we have to reestablish what structural elements are necessary for government to resume doing what it’s supposed to.

    Long-time readers won’t be surprised that I consider the prayer practices of the original Constitutional Convention indispensable to any future one. We can’t do this alone. But we don’t have to. We do have to acknowledge that, if any reset toward constitutionalism and liberty is to prosper, it is necessary to do it.

        Each state can send any number of delegates to the convention they want, but each state will get only 1 vote on amendments.

        All amendments require a 2/3rds majority yes vote to pass out of the Constitution. They then require a 3/4th of the states to vote yes in a time period to be set by the convention before they are adopted.

        Do you really believe that 3/4trs of the states will vote to throw away the Constitution and our rights? Plus the entire 21st Century shows that voting in new members of Congress will restore our freedom. This convention is the last chance we have of saving our freedom or our Republic. Refusing to take what I consider to be a low order risk will lead to a violent counter revolution to be our only chance.

        We either have the Convention or a violent Counter Revolution. Take your choice.

      Camden County presiding commissioner Ike Skelton, County Attorney Jeff Green, County Treasurer Kendra Hicks, and Sheriff Tony Helms were among the six senior elected officials to write to the agency known for its involvement in incidents such as the Waco massacre. They cited a local ordinance as justification for refusing to cooperate.

      “Under the Anti-Commandeering Doctrine, Camden County was the first county in Missouri, and possibly in the country, to pass an ordinance prohibiting any county employee from assisting your unconstitutional agency in violating the rights of our citizens,” wrote Skelton in comments quoted by a local NPR affiliate.

      In a further statement, he argued that “[a]ny and all federal firearms laws, so-called laws, in my opinion, and many others’ opinion, are unconstitutional.”

      Challenging the Feds.
      Missouri is the scene of a much wider battle between conservative-led state governments backing the people’s right to bear arms and the Joe Biden-led federal government, which is seeking to restrict it.

      In March, an Obama-appointed federal judge, Brian Wimes, moved to strike down the Second Amendment Preservation Act of 2021, a law passed by Missouri’s legislature which empowered Missourians to sue local and state officials assisting federal agencies infringing Second Amendment rights for tens of thousands of dollars.

      Wimes ruled the act was “unconstitutional” and therefore “invalid, null, void, and of no effect,” arguing that it undermined the supremacy of federal law over state law.

      Biden’s Attorney General, Merrick Garland, who brought the case, gloated that he was “gratified” by Wimes’s initial decision, but Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey insisted he would “defend this statute to the highest court” — and the judge has conceded that the act can remain in force while the appeals process is ongoing, at least for now.

      Wimes’s position that the law unconstitutionally abrogates federal law and is “designed to [do just that” and the Missourian position that states can disapply federal gun laws on grounds that they are unconstitutional are in direct conflict.

      Observers well beyond Missouri will be watching closely to see which position wins out, given the enormous implications it could have not just for gun rights, but also states’ rights and the very nature of governance within the Union.

      The post claims there are links between the organisations and invites readers to consider that they are proof of a conspiracy. It ends with the sentence: “Now you understand how a dead bat sold in a wet market in China infected the ENTIRE PLANET” (here, here, here, here).

      Many of the claims have appeared in similar posts debunked by Reuters (here) and other fact checkers (here and here) in December 2020.

      The claims can be roughly split into two themes, the first focussing on the pandemic’s origins in Wuhan and the second highlighting spurious links between global organisations.

      The Wuhan laboratory

      “The virus started in the biological laboratory in Wuhan”

      No evidence. Unverified theories have suggested the virus that causes COVID-19 was synthesised by the Wuhan Institute of Virology (here). However, at the time of publication, the majority of virologists and infectious disease experts say the new virus most likely evolved naturally.       “Winterthur built the Chinese laboratory in Wuhan”

      False. Winterthur is a Swiss insurance company bought by AXA, a French insurance company, in 2006 (here). It is not a construction company and there is nothing to link it to the building of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, which was originally founded in 1956 as a Chinese national institution (here).

      “The Chinese biological laboratory in Wuhan is funded by Glaxosmithkline”

      False. The Wuhan Institute of Virology is not funded by the British pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). The institute is part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) (here), which is governed by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China (here). In 2019, a CAS member wrote an open letter (here) maintaining that the academy’s funding was split equally between the Chinese government and ‘competitive funding or technology transfer’. The Institute’s partners are listed on its website (here).

      “The biological laboratory in Wuhan was funded by Dr. Fauci”

      Misleading. Anthony Fauci has been Director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) since 1984 (here). The NIAID is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), an agency of the US health department (here).

      The NIH confirmed to Reuters by email that it granted $3.4million to the non-profit organisation EcoHealth Alliance Inc over 6 years to fund research into understanding bat coronavirus emergence. The non-profit then awarded that money to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, alongside East China Normal University (Shanghai), the Institute of Pathogen Biology (Beijing), and Duke-NUS Medical School (Singapore).

      US government websites show that the Wuhan institute received $814,608 between 2015 and 2019 (here, switch from “Prime Awards” to “Sub-Awards” in the upper right corner). A spokesperson added that the grant to EcoHealth Alliance was terminated on April 24, 2020 and reinstated on July 8, 2020.

      A decision by the Trump administration to cut EcoHealth Alliance funding was reported by Politico in April after obtaining emails between EcoHealth Alliance and the NIH (here).

      The NIH website shows that the reinstated budget will run until June 2021 (here), but EcoHealth Alliance wrote in August that the NIH had imposed “impossible and irrelevant conditions that will effectively block us from continuing this critical work”.

      It is not just the US government that funds the Wuhan institute: the European Union stated on Jan. 26, 2021 that it had awarded grants to the laboratory since 2015. It added that the institute: “delivered the first SARS-Cov2 genome sequence, which enabled partners of the European Virus Archive to design the widely used polymerase chain reaction ( PCR) diagnostic test for COVID-19” (here).

      Pharmaceutical companies, investment groups and philanthropists

      Pfizer

      “Glaxosmithkline own Pfizer!”

      False. While GSK has embarked on joint ventures with Pfizer, the two are separate companies (here and here). In fact, Pfizer does not have one owner, but is owned by members of the public and a range of institutions, with the top shareholder being the Vanguard Group (here)

      “Bill Gates is a shareholder of Pfizer”

      True, at the time of publication. As outlined above, Pfizer has many shareholders. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has owned Pfizer stocks since 2002 (here here) and a 2019 tax return from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust lists Pfizer among its corporate investments (here , see see Foundation Trust annual tax return 2019). The foundation has also provided research grants to the company (here).

      BlackRock

      “GlaxoSmithKline is managed by Black Rock finances”

      Misleading. BlackRock, the world’s largest asset management firm, owns 7.5% of GSK (fintel.io/so/us/gsk/blackrock) at the time of publication and is their largest shareholder (here). This does not mean GSK is “managed” by BlackRock, as GSK has 1553 institutional owners and shareholders (fintel.io/so/us/gsk).

      “Black Rock is also a major share-holder of MICROSOFT, the property of Bill Gates”

      Misleading. BlackRock is the second largest shareholder of Microsoft at the time of publication (here) but Microsoft is not property of Bill Gates. In 2014, media outlets reported that Gates was eclipsed as Microsoft’s largest individual shareholder by the company’s other former CEO, Steve Ballmer (here).

      When Gates stepped down from Microsoft’s board in 2020, news reports said he owned 1.3% of the company’s shares (here and here).

      “Vanguard is a shareholder of Black Rock”

      True. Vanguard, another global investment company, is the top shareholder of BlackRock at the time of publication (here).

      “Black Rock controls the central banks”

      False. The US central bank hired BlackRock in March 2020 to manage commercial mortgage-backed securities in an effort to shore up the economy (here). This means BlackRock assists the Federal Reserve, it does not control it.

      George Soros and Winterthur

      “Black Rock manage the finances of the Open Foundation Company (SorosFoundation)”

      False. Open Society Foundations is the world’s largest private funder of charities and non-governmental organisation (here) owned and funded by billionaire George Soros (here). The foundation has no connection to BlackRock.

      Soros Fund Management, however, is an investment fund run by Soros that had shares in BlackRock (here), but sold them in 2020 (here).

      “The SorosFoundation serves the French AXA”

      False. There is no evidence of a connection between Open Society Foundations and the French insurance company AXA (here). However, financial research website Fintel recorded last year that Soros Fund Management disclosed ownership of more than 450,000 shares of AXA Equitable Holdings (here), a US-based company (here) partially owned by French AXA (here).

      “Soros owns the German company Winterthur”

      False. Winterthur is a Swiss insurer (here) bought by AXA in 2006 (here).

      “Winterthur was built by the German Allianz”

      False. Winterthur and Allianz are both insurance companies, but the only connection between them is the International Commission on Holocaust Era Insurance (ICHEIC), a non-profit association founded in 1998 by US insurance regulators and representatives of Israel to settle outstanding life insurance policies from the Nazi era.

      Vaccines don’t have to prevent infection or transmission to be cleared in the United States, the country’s top regulatory agency said in a new document.

      “It is important to note that FDA’s authorization and licensure standards for vaccines do not require demonstration of the prevention of infection or transmission,” Dr. Peter Marks, a top official at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), said in the document.

      Marks was writing as he rejected nearly all recommendations from a group of experts that advised the FDA to update the labels for the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines.

      Vaccines are traditionally known as drugs that prevent an illness. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for years said a vaccine is a product that “produces immunity” while vaccination is an injection of an infectious organism “in order to prevent the disease.” The agency changed its definitions after people correctly noted that COVID-19 vaccines do not prevent infection.

      The Coalition Advocating for Adequately Labeled Medicines, a group of experts, had called for the FDA to make clear that the COVID-19 vaccines don’t prevent infection or transmission.

      “There is a widespread (but inaccurate) notion that efficacy against infection and transmission have been established by substantial evidence, and that these vaccines contribute to herd immunity,” the group said, pointing to claims from President Joe Biden, the head of the CDC, and Dr. Anthony Fauci that vaccinated people would not get sick or infected.

      Biden, for instance, falsely said in 2021 that “you’re not going to get COVID if you have these vaccinations.”

      “To remedy this situation, language clarifying that phase III trials were not designed to determine and failed to provide substantial evidence of vaccine efficacy against SARS-CoV-2 transmission or death must be added to labels,” the coalition said. SARS-CoV-2 causes COVID-19.

      While it’s uncommon to include in product labeling what a product has not been proven to do, there are cases where it’s necessary due to inaccurate assumptions, the coalition said. They pointed to the FDA stating that the influenza medicine Tamiflu “has not been shown to previous serious complications of influenza” after the drug’s manufacturer said it reduced complications by nearly half.

      Marks rejected the request, writing that the petitioners included “selected statements by U.S government officials suggesting that vaccination against COVID-19 may prevent infection or transmission” but omitted statements from Fauci and others that later acknowledged vaccines don’t prevent infection or transmission.

      “In responding to your Petition, we are not agreeing or disagreeing with any of the statements that are selected in the Petition,” Marks said. “Rather, we are observing that the statements referenced by the Petition do not demonstrate a commonly held belief that the clinical trials provided substantial evidence of efficacy against SARS-CoV-2 transmission. We are not convinced that there is any widespread misconception about this.”

      The head of the CDC, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, is among those maintaining to the present day that the vaccines at one point completely prevented transmission and symptomatic illness.

      Trial data showed high efficacy against symptomatic illness but not 100 percent efficacy. Real-world data has shown lower effectiveness. The trials were not designed to measure transmission, the FDA has said in various documents.

      Authorization Standards

      Marks also said that the FDA can authorize or approve a vaccine even if there’s no “demonstration of the prevention of infection of transmission.”

      “A vaccine can meet the licensure standard if the vaccine’s benefits of protecting against disease outweigh the vaccine’s risks for the licensed use,” he added. “There is no requirement that the vaccine also prevents infection with the pathogen that can cause the disease or transmission of that pathogen to others.”

      Emergency use authorization (EUA) can be granted “without any evidence that the vaccine prevents infection or transmission,” he also said.

      EUAs were given to the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines in late 2020 due to a March 2020 declaration by then-Health Secretary Alex Azar under the Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness (PREP Act) Act. The vaccines were later approved, though the FDA reverted to emergency authorization this month when it switched all existing COVID-19 vaccines from the companies to the updated, unproven bivalent formulations.

      Linda Wastila, a professor in the Department of Practice, Sciences, and Health Outcomes Research at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, said she was surprised by Marks’ assertion.

      “I am totally flabbergasted that the FDA responded that proof of prevention of infection and transmission is not necessary for an EUA vaccine,” Wastila, who is part of the coalition, told The Epoch Times via email. The comment “makes me wonder if the FDA has ANY standards of safety and efficacy of the EUA vaccines,” she added.

      Under the PREP Act, an emergency authorization can be given for a product used to diagnose, treat, or prevent a disease or condition when officials conclude that the product “may be effective” in diagnosing, treating, or preventing the disease or condition and “the known and potential benefits of the product, when used to diagnose, prevent, or treat such disease or condition, outweigh the known and potential risks of the product.”

      That assessment is based on “the totality of scientific evidence available … including data from adequate and well-controlled clinical trials.”

      No clinical trial efficacy data has been made public for the bivalent vaccines.

      The FDA did not respond to a request for comment. Marks noted that the FDA cleared the vaccines “for active immunization to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by SARS-CoV-2.”

      “The vaccines are not licensed or authorized for prevention of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus or for prevention of transmission of the virus, nor were the clinical trials supporting the approvals and authorizations designed to assess whether the vaccines prevent infection or transmission of the virus,” he said.

      Lack of Safety Data

      Other proposed changes that were rejected, included making clear that the FDA authorized a new Pfizer vaccine formulation with a different buffer without requiring studies to evaluate the efficacy or safety.

      Kim Witczak, founder of Woodymatters and another member of the coalition, criticized the response letter.

      “Honest communication and transparency is key to trusting our regulatory agencies. However, the FDA’s response to the citizen petition shows they are not really interested in transparency and sharing more information with the public,” she told The Epoch Times in an email. “With an experimental rushed product, safety is paramount and the public deserves the good, the bad and ugly in real time.”

      The FDA only accepted a single proposal. It added some data from a trial to the labeling for the new Pfizer bivalent vaccine.

      Before this month, the labels did not include any data from trials, because the FDA authorized the new vaccines as boosters without any trial data.

      After the fall 2022 authorizations, Pfizer and Moderna announced that trials showed the bivalent triggered higher levels of neutralizing antibodies than the old vaccines. Antibodies are thought to protect against COVID-19. Pfizer said the data showed a favorable “safety profile” while Moderna said that “no new safety concerns were identified.” The coalition said the labeling “should be updated to reflect current data.”

      While granting authorization for the bivalents as regular shots, the FDA updated the health care provider and recipient fact sheets for Pfizer’s bivalent to include the safety data Pfizer announced. But it did not include any immunogenicity data or any data on Moderna’s vaccine.

      “FDA has not conducted an evaluation of the data that is referenced in the press release,” Marks said.

    Reuters reported the laboratory seized contained cholera, measles, and several other deadly pathogens.

    As stores and restaurants attempt to go cashless, they’re installing “reverse ATMs” that dispense stored-value cards in exchange for greenbacks.

    Why it matters: More businesses are eschewing cash — a trend accelerated by the pandemic — but states and cities are passing laws banning them from doing so, in deference to people who don’t have bank accounts or credit cards.

    Handling cash is also a hassle for retailers, with problems including theft and constant runs to the bank.
    Driving the news: Reverse ATMs — also known as cash-to-card kiosks — are quickly being installed in all manner of venues that want to go cashless without flouting the law or turning away the “unbanked,” who represent 4.5% of Americans, per the FDIC.

    Amusement parks, casinos and sports stadiums are taking the lead.
    Reverse ATMs have been installed at most Major League Baseball and National Football League ballparks, plus cashless attractions like Hersheypark, Six Flags and many waterparks.
    “Cash digitization” is the term that’s catching on for converting cash to electronic currency — which is increasingly necessary as transit systems and other public accommodations also go cashless.
    What they’re saying: “This is a competitive business,” says Naushervan Beg, a partner and business development executive at Wavetec, a Toronto-based company that sells reverse ATMs under the brand name Azimut.

    “Cash carries a lot of friction, right?” he tells Axios. “Many venues are willing to pay for the machines because for them, the bigger pain point is taking the cash.”
    How it works: To use a reverse ATM, a customer feeds cash into a machine and gets a prepaid plastic card in return. (Here’s a video.)

    Most of the machines don’t charge fees to buy the card, though some do (typically $5).
    While some cards are venue-specific, generally you get a Visa or Mastercard that may or may not be reloadable.

    The rate of “unbanked” households is highest among communities of color, lower-income earners and those with disabilities, according to the FDIC.
    But the pandemic — which initially got people scared to handle bills and coins — accelerated the migration to electronic payments.

    “If I tell you your cash is no longer good and you have to go to the machine and convert it to cards, the experience has to be good,” Beg tells Axios. “In the two-hour window you have to watch a game, you have added a few minutes.”
    By the numbers: A reverse ATM from Wavetec starts at $6,000 — plus extra for servicing the machine, which includes removing the cash and replenishing the cards.

    Merchants can defray costs by running advertisements on the screens.
    Zoom in: In New York City, restaurants like Slutty Vegan and Brooklyn Dumpling Shop are installing reverse ATMs to avoid the “dirtiness” of cash — and the potential for robbery, per the New York Post.

    When Slutty Vegan’s owner, Pinky Cole, ran a food truck, “we were making $15,000 to $20,000 a day, with five- to six-hour lines,” she told the Post.
    “Sometimes we had to have security because we were dealing with so much cash.”
    What’s next: People without bank accounts have been adapting to mobile payment apps, which could mean that reverse ATMs are a bridge technology — or one that will soon be used to load a digital wallet.

    As things progress, “it might not be a physical card” that you receive at a reverse ATM, Beg says. “You can have a virtual card on your smartphone.”

    An autistic Jewish teen had a swastika carved on his back in a heartless anti-Semitic assault at his Las Vegas high school — with the FBI now prepared to jump into the unsolved case.

    The teen’s distraught mother alerted authorities after her 17-year-old nonverbal son returned home from Clark High School on March 9 with the hate symbol etched on his back, NBC News reported Saturday.

    The mom, who said her son’s service dog equipment bag was also tampered with, has pulled her son from the school.

    But because the school doesn’t have surveillance cameras in classrooms, locker rooms and bathrooms, the cruel culprits remain unnamed — and unpunished.

    “My son is the only student I know who wears a Kippah at the school,” the mother told COLlive.com last week, referring to a type of yamulka traditionally worn by Jewish men and boys.

    German authorities have arrested a Syrian man on suspicion of planning to carry out an explosives attack motivated by Islamic extremism, officials said Tuesday.

    Federal police said officers arrested the 28-year-old man early Tuesday in the northern city of Hamburg based on a court-issued warrant for suspected terrorism financing offenses.

    Investigators say the man is suspected of trying to obtain substances online that would have allowed him to manufacturer an explosive belt “in order to carry out an attack against civilian targets.”

    Police say the man was encouraged and supported in his action by his 24-year-old brother, who lives in the southern town of Kempten. German news agency dpa reported that the younger man was also detained.

    The brothers, whose names weren’t immediately released, were described by federal police as being motivated by “radical Islamist and jihadist” views.

    Authorities said they had no information indicating a concrete target for the planned attack.

    Police searched properties in Hamburg and Kempten, seizing large amounts of evidence including chemical substances, officials said. Some 250 officers were involved in the operation.

    Germany’s top security official thanked police, saying their actions “have prevented possible Islamist attack plans.”

    Interior Minister Nancy Faeser said the case showed that the danger of Islamic extremism remained high and pledged that German security agencies would continue to take all information about such threats seriously.

    “Germany remains a direct target of Islamist terrorist organizations,” she said. “Islamist-motivated lone perpetrators are another significant threat.”

    In a separate case, authorities in western Germany said Tuesday that they are investigating a possible extremist motive in an attack at a gym in Duisburg last week. A 26-year-old Syrian was arrested days after the attack, in which four men were seriously wounded and one of them remains in life-threatening condition.

    Duesseldorf prosecutors said a review of the suspect’s cellphone indicated that “there may have been an Islamist motive” behind the attack, but declined to elaborate. The man is currently being held on suspicion of attempted murder and other offenses.

    The GOP has scheduled Republican debates with radicals asking the questions. They didn’t even think about asking President Trump about their decision before scheduling these debates. What were they thinking?

    In the 2016 campaign, then-candidate Trump destroyed the GOP field despite having no debate experience and not being a politician.

    Trump went on to win the GOP nomination and then destroy Hillary Clinton in the debates where liberal journalists asked the questions. He had to beat Hillary and those asking questions. He destroyed her.

    President Trump then went on to face sleepy Joe Biden in the 2020 debates and it again was President Trump against his competitor and the media.

    For the 2024 election, the Democrats announced that they are done with debates indicating their candidate has already been selected. In response, the GOP decided to announce presidential debates in 2024 but they never discussed these debates with President Trump.

    The GOP went around President Trump who is demolishing the field for 2024 by a long shot and worked out the debates themselves.

    President Trump in response says “NO”.

    A convicted felon affiliated with MS-13, a street gang formed by Salvadoran immigrants, murdered and dismembered a Florida Uber eats driver while he was making a delivery last week.

    Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco on Tuesday said the remains of the delivery driver were found in trash bags inside of the MS-13 gang member’s home.

    “This is demonic,” Nocco said during a press conference on Tuesday. “What he did was demonic, but at the same time, we couldn’t answer the question ‘Why?’.”

    According to reports, the Uber driver, Randall Cooke, 59, was last heard at 6:30 pm on April 19 after he told his wife he was making his last delivery for the evening.

    Cooke was reported missing after he stopped responding to his wife’s texts messages.

    Uber Eats gave detectives Cooke’s last delivery location which led them to a house on Moog Road.

    According to WFLA, 30-year-old Oscar Adrian Solis, a convicted felon affiliated with the MS-13 gang occupied the home where Cooke was last seen on surveillance video.

    The next morning on April 20, Solis was caught on surveillance video carrying around trash bags.

    “An arrest affidavit states one of the men appeared to be dragging a heavy bag across the ground as he walked.” WFLA reported.

    Sheriff Nocco said Cooke’s remains were found in the trash bags.

    The Sheriff said Solis was a “very violent individual” who moved to Florida this year after being released on parole from a prison in Indiana.

    A man affiliated with the MS-13 gang was accused of murdering an Uber Eats driver who was delivering to his house in Holiday.

    Uber Eats provided detectives with the Cooke’s last known location, a house in the 3400 block of Moog Road. The sheriff’s office said one of the occupants of the home was Oscar Adrian Solis, 30, a convicted felon with ties to the MS-13 gang.
    Deputies obtained home security footage from Solis’ roommate, which showed the driver walking up to the home. The motion-detecting camera abruptly went dark just moments later, at 6:45 p.m., according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

    The next morning, Solis was reportedly caught on camera walking around the house with another man, both carrying trash bags. An arrest affidavit states one of the men appeared to be dragging a heavy bag across the ground as he walked.

    Nocco said “several” bags were found to contain the remains of the missing delivery driver.

    An arrest affidavit indicates Solis’ roommate heard “loud noises” coming from his room at approximately 2 a.m. Solis was later seen with small cuts on his hands and arms, according to detectives.

    In the days that followed, detectives scoured the neighborhood for evidence to build their case against Solis. Blood was found in several areas of the home, according to the arrest report. Cooke’s car was later found abandoned about 0.3 miles away from the home with “blood-soaked rags and paper towels, along with a red DoorDash bag similar to the one [Cooke] was observed carrying.”

    Detectives also said they found a time card with Solis’ name on it in the trunk of Cooke’s car.
