Those of you who have been with the site for a few months will have read our pushing people to watch the Hulu series, Dopesick. This is a series about Perdu Pharma pimping what is effectively heroin, and killing a LOT of people in the process. Perdue managed to get this drug into a lot of people by bribing US officials at the CDC and NIH. Possibly other agencies as well. If you have not seen that series, after watching Tucker tonight, you may feel its worth the time and effort. It is entertaining, which helps. But the info is important when trying to understand at least one of the reasons this current gene-therapy shot got approved so easily and fast, how the control group was destroyed before the end of the test period, and how people who resisted promoting it were disenfranchised.
Near the beginning of Episode 1 if memory serves, doctors started reporting that the pain relief from the drug often did not last the advertised 12 hours. As a result, Perdue made up the concept of “breakthrough pain” and the remedy was more drugs. Not entirely dissimilar to breakthrough infections which then became endless boosters.
There are more twigs to the current situation. But Perdu acted out of a global scale greed. They had no ideology.
